Warriors, like thieves, currently don’t have to finish fights that they start that don’t go their way. They can run away from nearly anyone who would otherwise issue them a beatdown. In fact, most of the time all you see is the warrior’s back as he heads for the hills

Yeah, this has been a weird week for us (SoS), I am not sure it is the fairweathers, because let’s face it, you guys are terribly boring to fight. As much as I respect your ability to hold PPT, it’s just a super boring way to do WvW, I much prefer being outnumbered by Tier 1 servers, than servers that constantly run back to their 17 arrow carts they have jammed around a gate.

Or if everyone is just on vacation, who knows. We’ll see next week what happens.

I gotta say SoS is the boring server to fight, huge queue blobs, horrible roamers, glitchers taking towers, and really bad PvF. All around I can understand why 90%% of our population is still taking a break.

The only time you wiped the SBI zerg was when you got together in an 80 man zerg with both guilds and fairweathers…The few times you separated anywhere near the SBI numbers, you got rolled over rather handily, Its why you were running in such a large zerg in the first place, You couldn’t compete without the Numbers Advantage.

Must be the 80 man blob of stoned Australians running around again. Existence is completely unknown to half a server yet still manage to pop up here and there.

Seriously, I haven’t seen a map blob nearly as big as this 80 man mystery since we were facing TC a few weeks back. Which was during Oceanic prime. I official count was 53. Not since I’ve been running with NA have I seen anything that has come close to that during peak time. Not even Luvpie could blob that many people.

I’ve never seen you guys get that big of a zerg either…But that night you had a massive zerg…

We didn’t have an 80 man zerg that night, the combined force of CB and CNB reached around 30 in TS and we probably had 10 or so pugs running with us. Stop blowing it out of proportion

It’s the holidays. Christmas parties and shopping take priority over video games. I imagine all server populations will vary this week. Not really anything that can be done about it, nor should their be. I think everyone should go out and enjoy the season, we’ll get back to killing each other on a nightly basis after all the egg nog is gone.

There’s only 2 class that can’t obtain passive speed buff: Guardian and Engi. But engi can obtain permanente swiftness.

Whit more speed you can escape from your enemy or follow your group easy.

I wanted to do a durable last man standing build. But so many people are saying the developers want everybody to spec for damage and healing power scales terribly. Seems kinda boring if everybody is a DPS spec. If i wanted to melee DPS i would play a warrior.

PvE in this game has a low skill cap so you just blow kitten up and move on. Your durability isn’t generally tested in that game mode so just spec for damage.

They should just rename it to Symbol of Supplemental Swiftness

This is the most annoying change I’ve seen in any game in quite a long time.

I’ve frontlined with full cleric gear with as little as 15k hit points depending on spec. It really comes down to maxing out toughness and having a reliable solution to conditions. I’d say anything less than 3100 toughness will be tough if you run clerics gear. If you run sentinels you can probably get away with a little less (I’d still max it out though). I try to stay above 1500 healing which means empower is a 3100+ heal and each dodge roll heals for about 1800.

As for condition removal you have your shouts, runes and food to rely on. You can always grab smite condition instead of three shouts but I find it less useful in large groups. Being able to cleanse, especially with something like Save Yourselves, makes a huge difference. Personally if I were commanding I’d run with Melandru runes in addition to lemongrass soup. Conditions won’t really bother you that much.

I also have a few guildmates who frontline with the pvt and sentinel gear with soldier runes and they have decent survivability as well. They can’t really match a well played healer in staying power but the healer can’t really smash people with a big hammer as well as they can either.

That pause wasn’t necessary before the patch. I honestly think all the people who think this is a positive change didn’t know how to maintain perma swiftness prior to the nerf.

Only in pve things are easier because you know what you’re up against and you know exactly what skills a boss will use. So why not choose the optimal build for this setting?

I haven’t made a case for either type of build. I was just pointing out that it’s really disingenuous to claim an activity requires any measurable skill when you’re just speccing for max damage and blowing kitten up.

I didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s ego, I’m just reading the thread like everyone else. If there’s no consideration that needs to be taken defensively for pve then you simply can’t claim it takes very much skill to participate. This thread is actual proof of that concept.

Based on the fact that you’re supposed to run around in full zerker gear dps’ing everything down as fast as possible I don’t see how anyone can claim there’s very much skill involved.

Because you have to take a pause when you hit the edge of the symbol to get the next pulse of 4 seconds.

The symbol size is 180, you are traveling at 399 s/u so you need to wait around 0.55 of a second to get the second pulse.

Do you think that stutter step you have to do every 8 seconds is logistically sound? I don’t see anything positive about this change. We’re slower than we were on Monday.

Do the math on the full 4 pulse buff, it’s even slower by quite a large margin.

ps – it’s probably best to do the calculations over a 32 second period to account for pulse times and show the full benefit of the 4 pulse version.

In no way is this change to SoS a buff. Before the patch there was no prep time and you could refresh swiftness on the run with minimal boon duration bonuses. Any time spent standing still in a circle buffing swiftness is time that was spent already running at swiftness speed prior to the patch. You could basically take off running at swiftness speed and not stop until you got to where you were going. Having to wait for pulses now is the nerf.

We are slower today than we were yesterday using SoS. There’s absolutely no denying that. Standing there waiting for pulses is time spent not moving. We are slower.

Just tried SoS in game. Horrible, horrible change. They’ve taken an ability that was somewhat functional and made it so bad that you now have to rely on other abilities or even other players to get back to pre-patch functionality. If that’s not a nerf then nerfs just don’t exist.

you dont need larger symbols for it to be better. And ofc you can trait both as long as your not into shouts and if you are into shouts you have 100% uptime with shouts and staff with 5% boon duration with no symbol traits ofc.

SoS change is just stupid. Give us the old version back. Moving across a map is like riding the subway now, with all the local stops. The “fix” to our broken swiftness ability makes us slower. Excellent work.

Would you guys stop it with this kitten already? I’ve been in on every match SBI has had with Maguuma and it always goes this way. They have a very legitimate weekday force and it’s always an issue for us. They don’t need to team up with YB to beat us.

This match is very much up in the air. Especially with the light turnout expected in WvW after today’s patch. It’s anyone’s game.

Shield 4 is really good if you know what your doing and who you’re fighting. Shield is also great for fighting thieves. Not that thieves are much of an issue but it’s got to be frustrating for them to see their backstab hit for a few thousand less damage than normal because of protection. Then we knock them out of their house when they’re at low health and they just stand there looking stupid.

Actually they should do the opposite and balance on an even smaller scale. If every 1v1 between any combination of classes came down to the best player winning the game would be much better.

Bottom line is that people don’t like to fight classes that get unlimited “do-overs”. Thieves don’t ever have to finish a fight that they have initiated unless they choose to. Anyone who plays a thief knows full well just how broken stealth is in this game. It’s a godkitten joke. It’s so broken that even terrible players can excel at playing thieves. That’s a problem in my opinion. The ultra low skill cap combined with the broken stealth mechanic simply isn’t acceptable.

Yeah they already sell experience on the gem store. I have 4 level 80’s. Three of them leveled up without ever leaving town (and in less than a day at that).

Still like the shield for fighting thieves. It’s just kittenign hilarious knocking them out of their house.
