Tx for the advice, But I don’t really like to download 2 Apps (Heavy by the way) to read the book. I have already acrobat reader, thakittens really good.
Don’t have pdf versions to buy so?
The three books bridging the gap between GW and GW2 are not available officially in PDF form. The only way you’ll be able to get them is e-book or physical book. Any PDF versions you find of these books on the internet are going to be unofficial/illegal copies of the book.

Tip…go to http://us.gw2stuff.com/en and click through all of the EU servers until you find one that shows the Temple of Balthazar as blue (blue status for the temples on gw2stuff.com means the temple is currently uncontested). If none of the servers are currently showing Baltha as blue, that means Baltha isn’t open on any of the servers and you’ll want to try again later.
Henge of Denravi
My advice…download the free Kindle reading app for your phone and purchase the Kindle version of the books. You can buy the e-book directly via the app (and bonus, you’ll be able to easily share the e-book across multiple devices).

It’s not just global players they’re forgetting, but players in their own time zone! I live in ArenaNet’s backyard (Seattle) and had the story spoiled via their Facebook feed. The content was released at 9am Pacific…and that spoilertastic pic was posted to their FB feed at 3pm Pacific. I’ve been at work for the whole 6 hours between content release and Facebook spoiler.
Henge of Denravi
I was also spoiled by the Official GW2 FB feed. I’m mostly up-to-date with the murder investigation story, but haven’t been able to do today’s content because I’ve been at work all day (content was released at 9am in my time zone). Totally was not expecting them to reveal who did it a mere 6 hours after the content was released.
ArenaNet, I follow your FB feed for game updates, not story spoilers. If you’re going to insist on posting stuff like this, PLEASE wait until the day after the content is released to allow us working folk time to experience the content.
I’ll still complete the content, but I am pretty disappointed.

An SF meltdown would be a disaster. We’ve enjoyed a close match up till now.
lol, it is not a meltdown. You have fought our server before, haven’t you? We have next to zero US overnight and banker hour coverage. Amazingly enough, pretty much everyone on SF actually sleeps at night and works during normal US work hours.
We have never fought you, and we have the same issues on DR.
Yes you have. Though it’s been many, many moons (back in our server’s dark days).
Needless to say the SF that exists now was not the SF that existed then.
True. But our coverage gaps are a tale as old as time. We were experiencing this very same coverage gap problem back then as well as many other issues, which combined lead to our demise into T8. While some of those issues have been resolved and we’ve strengthened as a server, we’re still struggling with the coverage problem.

For those of you who might know me i like to have some fun in tkitten JP. chase some people down till they decide to duel when im bored. cause a little havoc here and there with some guildies. but when someone finally challenges tto a duel i always accept. now these guys are a bunch of [insert expletive] and im calling you out. i tried partying with you to ask for a duel but got nothing. {JEDI], [GDUA]
well doesn’t change the fact that it was 3 vs10…and when i tried to party them they canceled it…they knew what they were doing and were scared to duel….wvw or not its still a pvp area when someone wants to duel when your camping the jp you should accept the challenge or your a coward in my book
Duelists kittening about the JP is no better than pacifists puppying about the JP.

It is most depressing to hear you will be leaving the game Seven. You are an amazing player with awesome builds and your departure from the game is a huge loss for GW2. Thank you for all that you’ve given to the mesmer community (your builds helped inspire my own mesmer’s shiny new build, which works qutie well in PvE and WvW) and the SF WvW community. You will be sorely missed. Hoping you’ll at least drop in from time to time to say hello to your SF folk and keep us up to date on how things are going with you. Don’t be a stranger!

It is indeed possible that these are the only two words Palace has uttered all month, if I were you I would take the time to prepare yourself for what comes next.
Wait…Palace spoke?? And he spoke directly to neiliam? :-O
Well, I gotta admit that I’m jelly.

I feel that Lyssa needs fixing quite badly, -snip-
I agree that the current iteration of the Lyssa event has turned into a long, tedious slog. It’s fun for a bit with the whole “fog of battle” thing going on, but after an hour or so of trying to down the Priestess in a sea of mob spawns, huge pink invisible gorillas, tons of vets and normal mobs that take too many hits to down, I’m about ready to chew nails. The event is doable, but is nowhere close to fun.
^^ 100% this. The Sorrow’s Furnace community runs regular Orr temple runs on Saturday evenings, which were a very popular event for our server. No joke, Lyssa took our group WELL over an hour to complete the weekend before last due to the extremely large turnout. I completely lost track of how many times those pink gorillas one-shotted me during the attempt. The experience was so incredibly not-fun and left all of us so scarred that we won’t even touch Lyssa anymore during our Orr runs until it’s tuned down.
And we haven’t done attempted Grenth during our Orr runs in months due to scaling issues. And Baltha more often than not fails due to scaling being out of whack with the Pact morale (please give the Pact more of a backbone!). Nowadays, the only temples we can reliably complete with a very large group during our Orr runs is Dwayna and Melandru.
The larger the group, the less fun these temple events become. These scaling issues are making the SF Orr run event not worth running for the server community as a whole anymore.

Ohhhh, trust me, they never stopped to translate something just because it sounded silly in spanish, thats why I have the client in english, the translations made in spanish from a latino’s point of view (or at least mine) are: LOLWUT?
You’re going to have to share some of those silly translations with us sometime Kuro. I’m totally curious and my Spanish is way rusty.
On the bright side, at least ANet avoided “Sorrow’s Oven.”
Henge of Denravi
“Los perro QQ porque es no fuego.”
O.o Why is the dog QQing because it is not fire?
Henge of Denravi
haha! i just saw in that screenshot the Spanish translations for our server names. I only took one year of spanish in highschool but is Sorrows Furnace translated into " The Sad Oven" ?
The translation of “Fragua del Pesar” is closer to “Forge of Sorrow” or “Sorrow’s Forge.” Fragua = forge. Pesar = sorrow (or grief, or remorse, or despair). Oven is actually horno, not fragua. Horno is also used for “forge,” but it appears that ANet opted to not use “horno” as the word is more commonly used for “oven” and “Horno del Pesar” probably would have sounded silly in Spanish.

SF would love to have some t8 hell-forged brothers with us. KWBH was another one of those forces to be reckoned with on ET. We’re looking for more people regardless as we settle into our tier and would definitely prefer it was people we knew were competent and good at WvW
.
So hopefully SF is a consideration for you guys. Feel free to pm me if you need any info/help getting over. Most of the commanders that fought you when we were in t8 are pretty tight and would work with integrating communication with you guys if you wanted.
Another SFer jumping in to echo this sentiment. We’d welcome you with open arms, Starbucks and cookies.
Henge of Denravi
Oh, then I agree with you completely. We’ve been hurting in early morning. The other servers in tiers 7 and 8 didn’t have many early morning players either, so our weakness wasn’t really exposed until now.
Actually some of our West coast insomniacs have known for months :P
^^ 100% truth. And we’ve known for many months. Like a half-year+ of months.

There’s been a fair amount of whining in our (SF’s) map chats about how we’re losing and we’re “not up to the challenge”…
Pish, I think we’ve been holding up quite well all things considered.
I guess it begs the question what folks feel is “the challenge.” If it’s to keep rising up the ranks all the way up to T1, then yeah, we’re not up for the challenge. But that’s an unrealistic expectation to always win and always be on the rise. And anyone who had this expectation was just setting themselves up for disappointment.
If “the challenge” is to find a tier where the match is competitive and we can learn and grow, then I think we’re totally up for the challenge. And there may be a good change that we finally found that tier.

As far as offering to pay to move guilds over, that’s something we’d really have to think over. I’m personally not a fan of it, especially because it can cause rather heated drama, as if the migrated guild owes something to the server. Worth talking about though.
I would rather be relegated back to T8 before I paid mercs….Just my two cents, which is not worth much these days….So with that in mind paying is prob the way to go.
Agreed. It’s one thing to help out a handful of people who want to make the move, but can’t afford it. And that’s something worth considering if such a situation ever actually arises. But the idea of buying whole mercenary guilds thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There’s so many ways for that to go wrong and leave our server high-and-dry. Not to mention I’d prefer people transferring here because they truly want to be a part of the SF community, not because they were paid to be here.

Do we know that Eir “abandoned” her son? We only know that he lived with his father. But there are a whole lot of possibilities about why that might have been.

Without knowing more, I don’t know that I’d be so fast to judge Eir.
Your mother’s name is Eir Stegalkin. Remember that, but I will tell you what I told Yngvi and Brynhildr. No one must send word to your mother that I am gone. I forbid it. The only thing I get tired of seeing is some of the folks from ET and FC clinging to the coattails of SF. Y’all are on your second new server since SF left. Earn your glory in your tier quit trying to ride SF’s glory as they earn their way up..
Hey now, be nice. When you’re stuck together in the same tier together for 3 months straight, you can’t help but form a bond. Since we left T8, we’ve been rooting our “Little Bros” in T8 and occasionally check in with them to see how they are doing and to let them know that we’re cheering for them. And likewise, our former T8 opponents have been rooting for their “Big Bro” and occasionally check in with us to see how we are doing and to let us know that they’re cheering for us.
It’s not riding on our coattails. It’s genuine interest, camaraderie and respect.
Henge of Denravi
Did SF get alot of transfers? If not please explain what the kitten you were doing in t7 with these kinds of numbers. (notice the 2 orange swords on IoJ borderland; those weren’t ours)
They way the rating system works causes a trap in tier 8 where no one can get out. We were stuck in tier 8 for 4 or 5 months. Anet put an additional temporary reward for tier 8 a few weeks ago and we broke free into tier 7. We spent 3 weeks in tier 7 and now we’re in tier 6. No transfers, just an artificially low rating and a lot of nocturnal players.
4-5 months? We weren’t in T8 for nearly that long. We arrived in T8 on January 4th and escaped on April 5th. So we were in T8 for 13 weeks straight (3 months), winning 12 of those weeks straight and dominating for 10 weeks straight.
Adding onto EnemyCrusher’s explanation above, we were unable to escape T8 because FC’s and ET’s ratings were so abnormally low that the rating math for that particular tier did not work as intended anymore (creating the ratings pit “affectionately” known as the Glicko Ghetto). On April 5th, ANet did a one-time boost ET and FC’s rating by 300 each (SF’s rating was never touched) to help normalize their ratings so the Glicko math for T8 would work as intended again. And when FC’s and ET’s ratings were finally normalized, Glicko acted accordingly and we finally broke out of T8. And as Enemy mentioned, it took us 3 weeks to go from T7 to T6.
Enemy is right that we are not the beneficiaries of transfers. The last wave of transfers our server saw was just before the free server transfers were locked down, but it wasn’t a lot and not NEARLY enough to get us out of the T8 Glicko Ghetto like Kain and DR. We’ve been experiencing a WvW renaissance since we broke out of T8 into T7 and are seeing a LOT of old faces we haven’t seen in a long time. Now that we are no longer spinning our wheels, WvW on our server has been revitalized and folks are excited to be WvWing again.
Henge of Denravi

So as of this moment, if I’m reading updated scores correctly, SF is in fact jumping up into t6, and GoM is jumping up into t7.
Interestings.
That could change between now and reset. The projected ratings are INCREDIBLY tight between T6/T7 and T7/T8. It’s going to be a photo finish this week.

Henge of Denravi
they ajusted fc/et rating to magically move Sf up.
They made the adjustment because FC’s and ET’s ratings were so abnormally low that the rating math for that particular tier did not work as intended anymore. Anything beyond that is pure conjecture.
Henge of Denravi
Maybe you guys should turn on that QQ that got you into T7 in the first place. Rumor has it , that if you cry enough they will move you up a tier without earning it.
Just take a stroll through the http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA ‘s history. They pushed us into T7 to fix what their rating system wouldnt acknowledge. Proof is, we’re winning T7 so not sure if QQ’s the only thing that brought us to this tier.
I don’t have to stroll anything to know you QQ’d on the forums with 10000 t8 threads and were magically move up a tier. Where did you earn it ? Now my point is, your looking into T6 without first getting out of T7.. its been how many weeks now ?
Just saying if you want T6 so badly , why not fire up the QQ wagon. It worked before. Right? Right.
Hey guys, SF was not manually moved into T7. In fact, ArenaNet did NOT touch SF’s rating whatsoever. The only ratings they manually adjusted were FC’s and ET’s, which had been driven so far into the Glicko Ghetto by Kain and DR that it was impossible for the green server to escape the T8 pit on their own merits, no matter how much they dominated.
We were in T8 for 13 weeks straight, winning 12 of those weeks straight (that’s nearly a quarter of a year of wins) and dominating for 10 weeks straight. We MORE than earned our way out of T8. And when FC’s and ET’s ratings were finally normalized, Glicko acted accordingly.

Long before I rolled a Mesmer, I used to say “Don’t forget to tip your Mesmer.” There’s nothing wrong with it either.
There most certainly is if the mesmer is cluttering up /map or /team with it. If JP mesmers want to demand/beg for tips, keep it in /say.
Would you like to know why the JP bothers people, because it’s NOT about themselves. They aren’t playing by your rules. Look, the map chat is only for the things “you” want on it even.
Would you like to know what clutters map chat more? People that selfishly tout how many bags they are getting. That’s far more annoying than any communication relating to the JP. Because the one is incredibly selfish and egotistical, while the Mesmer’s are selflessly giving their time for others. Those asking for one are trying to be as quick and efficient as possible. That’s not lazy, that’s intelligent!
I’d argue that any mesmer demanding or begging for tips in ANY chat channel is selfish, not selfless.
I rarely port the puzzle…but whenever I do port, I take my lead from a true selfless JP mes on our server. He does not demand or beg for tips. He in fact refuses to accept tips and returns any tips he receives to the sender. He does not demand or beg for siege. His only request is that if anyone does not plan to use their siege (such as a PvEer who has no use for siege), to please not delete that siege and instead drop it off with him so he can pass them along to those who can use it. He does it for the good of our server and nothing more. THAT’S selfless.
And for the record, I don’t have a problem with the JP showing up in /map…but only if it’s our JP mes announcing ports. Because I know that from the position that our mesmers port from, /say does not reach those waiting at the bottom. And those JP memsers get people in and out and done quickly.
But arguing who should be the JP mes, demanding tips, and demanding that WvWers come to the JP to clear out campers have NO place in /map.
Henge of Denravi

Be forewarned that asking this question in /map automatically identifies you as someone who someone who hasn’t been helping out with WvW, as anyone who actually has been in the zone for any length of time will have seen multiple “are there any mes in the JP” questions (and the answer to said questions) and/or mesmers advertising ports. Asking this question in /map is a bullseye for anyone who takes issue with those who ONLY care about the JP and refuse to help with WvW. If you want to avoid folks griefing you for asking such a question in /map, my advice is to participate in WvW for a bit. You’ll eventually get the answer to your question without even asking.
I usually don’t have a problem with someone asking if there is a mes in the JP, though it can get really frustrating to see it in /map when there’s a queue or when we’re on a major offensive/defensive. But so long as the person is in and out and done and doesn’t clutter /map, I won’t say anything.
I personally have more of a problem with the following…
-People who clutter up /map about the fact the JP is camped and demand that us WvWers come clear out the JP for them so they can get their badges (come help out with WvW…you’ll get badges galore!).
-Mesmers cluttering up /map fighting over which of them should have the esteemed honor of being the JP mesmer.
-Mesmers cluttering up /map demanding tips for portals.
-Lazy people who absolutely refuse to learn the JP. I had this conversation during off-hours when we dominated T8 and had control of all keeps.
Lazy Person: “Is there a mez in the JP??”
Me: “No, there isn’t, you’re going to have to run it yourself this morning”
Lazy Person: “No, and don’t tell me what to do, thank you. I’ll just wait!”
Me: “There’s no mes even running the puzzle ATM. You’re going to be waiting for who knows how long. We have control of all the keeps. Puzzle isn’t even camped. Perfect time to learn.”
Lazy Person: “No, I’ll just wait.”
Me: “O.o”

I love how their initial reaction to any game change that causes an uproar is to lock the post to keep people from commenting. They really need a PR person to advise them that doing things like that is not in their best interest.
It was rather smart of them to lock it though, since it was more or less only people flaming, no real discussion.
Step 1, EU servers complain about something that inconvininces them (Rightly so, btw)
Step 2, Anet decides EU has a point, and makes a band aid fix that doesnt actually fix the problem and screws over NA players
Step 3, NA players complain about being screwed over with short notice, and voice much hate for a kitten fix on Anets part, and no forethought planning to seperate reset time due to region
Step 4, Anet throws up their hands in frustration, lock/delete all threads that hint at the topic, and hope the issue magically goes awayPredicting Step 5, People start seeing that Anet isnt taking this stuff seriously, and start to seriously look at other games to play.
oh noes the sky is falling in.
….
Anet were in a kitten if they do, kitten if they dont situation> I assume they looked for a solution that worked best the biggest proportion of their playerbase. and this is it, its not ideal for anyone, but its making the best of the situation.
No, this was a “lets ignore this and see if it goes away….oh it didnt? OK guys, what can we do to quickly address the specific complaints with the minimal amount of effort”. “Did i hear someone say shift the inconvenience to the group that isnt yet suffering? BRILLIANT! That will give us another 8 months to try to figure something out.”
Followed by “Woah, the community had a good idea on the forums. Hey Bill, can we separate the EU and NA reset times? ……….Ya i know this is a really last minute question, and i should have asked this months ago when you had time to work on it, just give me an answer! Not without alot of work, you say? About 2 months worth of work? …..I will just tell them it isnt possible.”
/scene
This in no way reflects what actually happens at Anet, and is meant as a dramatization from someone having some fun and venting at a very poor change to a game he loves. I will now await the incoming moderation.
One benefit of the doubt that I’ll give Devon is that he’s new to being the WvW lead and is scrambling to get us everything that we WvWers desire. But it all really goes to show how out of touch the previous WvW lead developers were with the needs/wants of the community.
In his scramble for a “fix” for this issue, it just doesn’t seem he really thought things through all that well. And sadly, it’s creating a divide in our WvW community between EU (who support the change) and NA (who oppose it).

I honestly don’t care one way or the other so long as the person makes sense and isn’t being a jerk. You have a wide variety of folks in this game with various typing speeds and grasp on English grammar (whether due to age, education, or a non-native English speaker). So shorthand is bound to happen in a game like this. To judge for using a period (or lack thereof) says more of person judging than the person making the grammatical error.

I personally prefer the current incarnation of the Sylvari. The previous incarnation just looked like elves with plant costumes and didn’t really fit the whole “people grown from a big tree” backstory. Kristin Perry sacrificed her own personal time to redesign the Sylvari and the redesigned Sylvari now look unique and fit much more with their backstory. And I personally very much welcome the departure from something that looks like Tolkien-esque elves (not that I don’t like Tolkien-esque elves, but they do feel a bit overused in fantasy genre games).
Henge of Denravi
It was a sigil. Seriously though, Anet we aren’t the richest players in game, for the amount of funds we had, we wasted a ton of money on a mistake this game had.
the mistake was yours to list the prices as 10X higher to begin with. Of course there will be people selling it far cheaper than you.
It is a bug. That is the problem, and due to the fact that it is a bug, I believe some Anet representative should PM me and work things out with us.
Or you should write a ticket instead of making a forum thread about the issue.
where can I write a ticket?
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/
To give you fair warning, ArenaNet typically does not take action (i.e. reimburse funds) on the vast majority of buyer error cases like this. You can certainly submit a ticket, but don’t expect the end result of the ticket to be in your favor.

I started out as a PvEer and wasn’t very keen on PvP until this game. I am REALLY glad that 100% world completion required the WvW maps. Had it not been for that requirement, I may not have been compelled to give WvW a try (and if I had, would not have spent nearly as much time on the WvW maps), would never have known how much I liked WvW and likely would never have gotten to know all the awesome WvW folks on my server that I have befriended.

We ran into an issue similar to this frequently in t8, are you sure they were the same guild and not just the same tag? We had several guilds in t8 with the same tags, I think I’ve also noticed a [KING] guild on HoD. You should get some caps next time if that is the case.
I’ve seen that guild tag. It’s [King], not [KING] like the guild tag for Unified Kingdom on our server.
Also, I don’t think I am familiar with an ND guild on Sorrows Furnace, at least off the top of my head.
[ND] is Kremklin’s guild, Nine Divines.

What Noroz said is true though. I’ve been more level-headed than most in this thread but really your EB crew was a failiure last night.
I’m going to preface my post with thank you for taking Stonemist.
We were siege capped literally all day and had to make our gains on the backs of golems alone or PvDoor. We tried to build siege of all kinds at every location and it only worked every once in awhile. Even at that badge farm at Langor, it took us about 25 minutes to get the first treb print successfully put down on the ground.
It’s a miracle we even took anything at all. As you guys probably found out when you captured it, SM was armed to the teeth. Almost every 1000 unit radius was hitting its 5 siege cap inside the lord room and probably out of good habits, people were constantly refreshing them. Literally all night we were walking up to towers and having this same exact conversation:
“Alright lets get some AoE on the walls and see if it cools down enough to throw down a ram”
“OK get ready to get this ram up ASAP that area is still super hot”
“Kitten it I can’t put down a ram… weren’t rams in a different siege limit entirely?”
“Can we put down a cata somewhere? … nope.”
“Supply camp has 100/100 let’s just see where a golem can take us to…”
“Well… half HP left and it’s a paper gate, I guess it’s PvDoor time. Keep heals spammed up front and constant AoE up top”That. All night.
Now that SM is out of the picture while the undermanned US Morning shift tries to hold what they can, we can start assessing where all our siege is and finally get some momentum going again in EB. I know ET and FC made fun of us for months for being a PvDoor server, but we were actually forced to do it for real starting Sunday night.
It’s hard to tell if it was folks practicing good siege habits or if we experienced a case of the “anomaly” of siege not despawning that is mentioned in the wiki. Considering much of that siege lasted overnight (and I highly doubt folks were refreshing siege ALL night), I can’t help but suspect it may be a case of the latter.
It’d be nice to get an updated clarification of whether or not rams are counted against a team’s hard map siege limit. The wiki indicates that Mike Ferguson said…
basically anything that is not a ram counts towards one ‘limit’ for the purpose of this explanation and each team can have up to 100 of these types of weapons out at any time per map. Each team can also have up to 100 rams placed on a map.
However, we’ve been having trouble placing rams since Sunday. And I find the idea that we had 100 rams in EB rather unbelievable.

gah!
WTB european crew, we will pay in pounds.
My biggest fear in this match was nightcapping…but it appears that workday hours capping is our bigger concern. :-/ Perhaps Sorrows Furnace needs to hire some employees to play for us during worktime hours?
