I too would absolutely LOVE for SAB to become a permanent fixture in Tyria. Make it so ArenaNet!

Totally awesome video Euphemia! Thank you so much for sharing! I hope you’ll keep us up to date on your daughter in the future!
Also, don’t let all these people get you down because they feel some sick need to scold you for letting your young child play MMORPGs. I played City of Heroes/Villains (another Teen rated MMO that like GW2) and there was a incredibly popular thread called “What my Six Year Old has Learned from CoX” (X = City of Heroes and City of Villains). Sister Flame started playing at 4 1/2 years old and played the game right up until its sunset (she was 10 or 11 years old when the servers were shut down). Her dad kept the thread up to date throughout the years so the community could keep up to speed on Sister Flame. Long story short, she grew up on an MMORPG and turned out just fine.
Sadly, the thread no longer exists, as the game is no longer around. But luckily, some folks preserved the original post from the thread.

As for the actual topic, everyone I know just calls her Teq.
It is a girl? I thought it is a boy.
“It has reinforcements. Slay them!”
“It’s dropping something from its wings. Look out!”
“Get back. It’s about to breathe. Stay out of its way!”
Based on the NPC chatter, it appears it’s an it.

I pronounce is “Teh-kah-tle”
But mostly I refer to him as Tequila the Sunrise :Phahhahahaha omg i call him tequila sunrise too!!!
I too like to call him Tequila Sunrise.

Can’t help but wonder if Tequatl and the other baddies of Tyria have been snacking on Shards of Zhaitan.
Henge of Denravi
There are no Tequatl the Sunlesses inside the final dungeon. You’re thinking of Ogravros the Moondeath, Fafnarin the Heartslayer, and Horrogos the Soulbreaker.
This revamp is for the Tequatl the Sunless event in Sparkfly Fen.
Henge of Denravi
For Tequatl it’s not even an issue. Whether or not there are champions, which seems unlikely based on the video you don’t get any loot from any mob until and unless you succeed the event. That means for anyone participating in the event there is only one goal, finish the event because otherwise the entire thing is a waste of time.
During the Anniversary Bash, I recall having to take down some champions around the turrets. And you’re absolutely right that we won’t run into the same issues as Scarlet because the loot drops from trash mobs has been removed. Rewards are tied directly to the event itself, not the mobs that spawn in the event. So folks won’t be torn between farming champs for loot vs. working toward completing the event.
But again, the part where you say “loot from any mob until and unless you succeed the event.” True you won’t get loot from mobs. But failing the event doesn’t mean you won’t get any rewards. You’ll get increasing rewards the closer you get to completing the event (i.e. you get a reward level for each 25% health you knock down). You do get the best rewards by completing the event. But you’ll still get some stuff even if you fail.
Ah, I didn’t realize that. From watching the video it appeared that when they failed all that occurred was your standard fail plus nothing.
If you still get something, then it’s more worth it to go at it.
I posted a link to the post outlining how the rewards will work earlier in this thread, but it got lost in the rage. :-/
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Why-80-players/page/2#post2755442
Yeah, we failed and didn’t get rewards during the livestream event. But keep in mind that the intent of the livestream was to show off how the event works, not the rewards associated with the event. I’m willing to bet rewards were turned off during the livestream so those of us on pre-generated characters were all on equal footing. There were three rounds. If rewards were turned on during the livestream, players in the later rounds could have benefited from rewards rewarded to the character if that particular pre-generated character was played during a previous round (i.e. a player in a later round would benefit from something he/she didn’t work for).

Hell, in a walk-through posted on youtube, Dev’s cheated, instantly dropping Tequatl’s health to 75%, and they still couldn’t pull it off. The fight went from too easy to impossible; thanks Devs.
As someone who participated in the Anniversary Bash livestream, please keep in the following in mind…
*The developer intervention seemed to be only just enough to progress the event along so they could show the whole event off for the live stream.
*We players were playing with a bunch of people we had never played with before and playing mechanics we had never encountered before.
*Many of us players didn’t have much time to digest the new mechanics.
*Many players didn’t have time to familiarize ourselves with the LFG tool and take advantage of it before we had to jump into the fray.
*We players were dumped onto pre-generated characters and many of us were playing unfamiliar builds. Most folks barely had a chance to swap out to different weapon sets.
*All the pre-made characters were on accounts with keybinds set to default, which very much felt like playing with your hands tied behind your back if you rely heavily on customized keybinds.
What you saw on the livestream was a lot rougher than what we’ll likely see on live due to these factors. I’m pretty confident that once it goes live and we’re playing on builds we’re familiar with, playing with our own keybinds, and actually have some level of coordination (especially when folks take more advantage of the new LFG tool), things will go a LOT smoother.

Listen to the NPCs around where the boss occurs. They pronounce it a few times, especially when Tequatl rises.
Teh (soft e, not hard e like OP)-Kuah-Tell
And as Quartktastic said, the hylek names are based off mesoamerican (not just Mayan, but Incan and Aztec too) naming systems. Tequatl as well.
Fun fact: Tequatl in hylek means “One in the Darkness” iirc; “the Sunless” is the hylek name for Risen. In other words his name basically means “Risen One in the Darkness”
The only problem with that is that it doesn’t make sense given how mesoamerican words are pronounced.
It oughta be Te-kah-tull so far as I understand, for the same reason you wouldn’t say Kweh-tzull-kwah-tull for Quetzacoatl.
The Hylek names are Mesoamerican inspired, but not actually Mesoamerican. Therefore, Hylek names may not necessarily have the same pronunciation as Mesoamerican words.
The pronunciation in the game (Teh-quah-tul) is the intended pronunciation of the name by the devs and is therefore the proper pronunciation of the name.
It’s kind of like what you saw with Avatar: The Last Airbender. While the names were Asian inspired, they did not necessarily have the same pronunciations as Asian names/words because they were not actually Asian. This was intentional by the creators and the names in the series are the proper pronunciations of the names. Then when someone like M. Night Shyamalan comes in and changes up how the names are pronounced in “The Last Airbender” movie because “that’s how Asian names are actually pronounced,” the fans threw a fit because the names in the movie were NOT the names of the well-loved characters (It’s pronounced “Ayng,” not “Ahng” Shyamalan!).

Tip: If you salvage ectos, be sure to refine your luck essences with an Artificer. It’ll save you a LOT of clicking.
OOOOOHHHHH I almost broke my mouse ! Thank you ! You just saved my new mouse….
I totally get ya. My mouse has yet to still forgive me for 500+ clicks the last time I salvaged for Piles of Crystalline Dust (I found out about the refinement after, LOL!). I’m hoping my poor mouse will forgive me during my next go with Crystalline Dust salvages if I do a little luck essence refinement with my Artificer.
Henge of Denravi
I suggest you buy ectos then salvage them. That way you get luck essences and you kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
^100% this.
Farm world events for ectos (salvaging rares) and/or buy ectos and salvage them. I salvaged +/-50 ectos to finish up my Gift of Energy and my luck went up by a pretty healthy amount just with that alone. I plan to do the same with the remaining 500 Piles of Crystalline dust I need for Bifrost and look forward to seeing how much my luck goes up.
Tip: If you salvage ectos, be sure to refine your luck essences with an Artificer. It’ll save you a LOT of clicking.
Henge of Denravi
There wont be much coordination. Tequatl will just be run over by what is Zerg Wars 2.
You never know what might be possible in a post-LFG tool GW2.
Henge of Denravi
I’d also like to thank ArenaNet for making something this epic and cool. Tequatl 2.0 is a lot of fun and what I’d expect of a dragon champion. I very much look forward to puzzling out how to bring him down with my fellow servermates. Keep up the good work!

The new Tequatl achievements are under the Bosses achievements section (not the Living Story section). So yes, the achievements are permanent.

Being one of the Group 2 folks who got hit with the tidal wave, I can confirm that it occurs when you fail the “defend the battery” event (and oh man was is painful!). I don’t think we livestream folks ever got far enough to see if the tidal waves occur at any other point of the event.
You can see the tidal wave footage here at around the 50min mark: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/c/2878546
Cool tip…if you see that the battery event is about to fail, get your bum to one of the jump pads. You can jump over the tidal waves using the jump pads.

scarlet invasions reward players for abusing scaling mechanics and zerging pirates to the detriment of overall event progress because you get more champ boxes from doing so than from actually trying to get the event done.
tequila will only reward you for finishing.
Not 100% accurate. It’s true that the trash mobs will not drop rewards (preventing the issues with champ farming we saw in the Scarlet invasions). But the Taq 2.0 event will give increasing rewards the farther you get in the event. Players will still get rewarded if they fail the event. But we’ll get better rewards if we successfully complete the event.

I’m pretty sure that will get plenty of people participating in Teq 2.0.
Henge of Denravi
(edited by Manoa.5897)
-It will be on a dragon time not every hour.
- rewards aren’t given till the event is successfully done, that includes the monster drops.
- the devs cheated becuase they had 20-30 people doing a 80 persion mission.
if the rewards are as epic as they seem, people will come come to the events, and it means the commanders will have to actually live upto there titles now or they’ll get loads of agro. Were you watching the same video? There were a lot more than 20-30, there were about twenty people on the dragon, and twenty people around the cannons, if not more. That makes around 40… now if you expect us to gather that many people on a regular bases, not to mention 80, you are surely mistaken.
There were 60 of us players who were able to experience the new Teq 2.0 at the Anniversary Bash, who were divided into 3 rounds of 20 people each . We did also have developers and alpha testers participating on the back end as well. But I’m willing to bet we didn’t have near the 80+ players they said we’d need to successfully complete the event (if I had to hazard a guess, we were probably closer to 50-60 players).

Nothing against you folks from SF, but this should be moved to recruitment sub-forum.
Lack of any anet or mod attention to wvw isn’t an excuse to post it here.
For as many people who complained that the thread was in the wrong forum, it seems that not one actually reported the thread to the moderators requesting that it be moved to the appropriate section. I reported the thread asking for it to be moved to the recruitment section and it got moved within a couple minutes. In the future, don’t be afraid to report miscategorized threads to get them moved to the appropriate forum sections!

They should put these “exclusive limited release” minis in their own category, and they should not count towards achievement points. Problem solved.
None of the limited-release miniatures (whether from Living Stories or from convention promotions) are required for the miniature achievements. And those limited-release minis that are not required for the achievements are already in their own “Mini Pets (Special)” category.
Henge of Denravi
Exclusive in-game items are not uncommon when it comes to gaming shows. These items are intended to resonate with the fanbase and get fans excited enough to pay to come to see their favorite games at these shows/conventions. Last year’s town clothes obviously didn’t get nearly this much discussion. This year’s mini code has clearly resonated with the fanbase.
Some codes are exclusive only to these shows and are never offered again (like in the case of League of Legends skins). Others are offered exclusively at these shows for a timeperiod, then offered to the fanbase in some other way (like City of Heroes costume codes, which were offered at gaming conventions and then offered many years later in the cash shop). It’s too early to tell which route ArenaNet will take.

They should have warned players that consumables were going to be useless in the next patch, but they didn’t. Now I got a whole ton of consumables sitting in the bank.
WHY ANET!?!?!? WHYYYYYYY!?!
Hi everybody,
Today we made adjustments to karma where the amount of karma granted from consumable karma items was increased and karma boosts no longer affected the amount of karma gained from consumable items.
We intended to message this change ahead of time to be fair to everyone, however this did not happen, and we apologize for not giving you advance notice.
The lack of advance warning resulted in some people losing out on karma that they would have otherwise gained by using boosts with the karma they’d saved up.
We will be temporarily rolling back the karma change in a hotfix to allow people the opportunity to turn in their karma with any buffs they intended to use. This temporary rollback will be in effect until the game update on September 3.
*Please note, while this temporary rollback is in effect: the in-game text for the karma consumabkitten oster found on the Gem Store will incorrectly state that it does not affect karma gained from consumable items.
We will also be reimbursing the people who used their karma during the period when the initial change was in effect with as close to the correct amount of karma as possible.
We’re really sorry about the frustration this caused and we will make every effort in the future to make you aware of changes like this ahead of time.

Either way, we are not interested in poaching players from servers that are already depleted, I think we have a fair-good relationship with many of the lower pop servers and hopefully they realize that this thread is started by one person not an entire server.
The views expressed in the OP represent the personal views of the individual poster and do not necessarily represent the opinion of the SF WvW community as a whole.
SF is a friendly, fun-loving WvW community that welcomes newcomers with open arms. If folks from lower ranked servers wish to join us of their own volition, all the power to them and we’ll certainly welcome them. But we’ve had our own share of losing core WvWers to higher ranked servers and it wasn’t a particularly fun experience. I’m pretty sure the members of our WvW core who went through that experience would not want to intentionally and purposefully inflict the same sort of drama and damage upon lower ranked servers, most especially those that we’re friendly with.

(edited by Manoa.5897)
They released it at the con because the con wanted to be popular for offering cool stuff to its visitors. Exclusive stuff helps with that. So these cons apparently made an offer Arena.net couldn’t refuse. You don’t know what they got for it (in money or promotion), but I assure you it was more than enough (comparable to selling it in gem store), or they wouldn’t do it.
I attended the Anniversary Bash…it was a separate private event held by ArenaNet at a nearby hotel that was running concurrently with PAX. PAX badges were not required to get into the GW2 event. Since this was a separate event and it was not connected with PAX, I highly doubt PAX “apparently made an offer Arena.net couldn’t refuse.”
I can’t speak about Gamescom (since I didn’t attend).
Henge of Denravi
Focusing our recruitment efforts on getting players from lower ranked servers to transfer to our server is misguided. While those servers may have lower populations than ours, they aren’t dead. And trying to get players from those lower ranked servers to transfer to our server just further widens the population gaps and will make for even more mismatched matches.
If any recruitment from other servers is going to be done, we lower WvW population servers should be banding together to recruit from all those higher tier servers who have an excess of WvW players that keep QQing about lag and queues.

Oh… Does that mean that a code received during the anniversary bash party will not be working on a French server? I might wait before giving it to my guildie then…
If the region block is not removed, I can always send it to some of the NA friends I made at the Bash! Mr Sparkle just needs to be loved U_U
The problem that most folks seem to be experiencing is that the NA players who attended the bash and received Mr. Sparkles codes are having trouble because the codes they received are region-locked to EU servers. I’ve seen at least one person who posted that they gave their code a friend who plays on the EU servers and that EU player was able to apply the code to their account without issue. Those of us on NA servers are having trouble and are having to submit tickets so ArenaNet’s customer service reps can manually apply the code to our accounts.
No matter what region you’re in, you can still get the code onto your account. It’s just those NA players who received EU codes from ArenaNet are having to some extra steps to get them onto our accounts.
Henge of Denravi
Even more people are saying their codes they got directly from arena net are not working, they said they are already used even confirmed by support…
Seems like someone got hold of mr sparkles codes before arena net gave them out and is now selling them on ebay. Which is why they are coming up already in use, they have been sold off..
As indicated above, there is only ONE person who received a used code, and their issue has since been resolved. The rest of us who received the codes as the Anniversary Bash and got an error is because the codes we received from ArenaNet were region-locked to the EU. This issue is easily resolved by submitting a ticket to customer support and requesting that the code be manually applied to an NA account.
The reason why you’re seeing a bunch of codes on EBay is not because someone somehow stole a bunch of codes (or are trying to sell bad codes). It’s because a bunch of codes just went into circulation as a result of the Anniversary Bash and some folks would rather have the cash than the mini.
Henge of Denravi
(edited by Manoa.5897)
We’re looking into this issue and I’ll post when we have info on this.
One thing to consider: If you purchased a code from someone else, that code may not be appropriate for your region. There are EU codes and NA codes and they do not work across regions. Now, clearly that’s not the only answer to this situation and the issues that folks are having. We know that a few people who got a code in their hands at an event have had issues, so we’ll continue to investigate the matter.
Thanks for your patience!
Thanks for investigating this issue Gaile! We very much appreciate it! It appears most (if not all) of us who have posted about this issue in this thread are folks who attended the Anniversary Bash in Seattle and received their codes directly from ArenaNet. If I had to hazard a guess, perhaps some EU-region-locked Gamescom cards got mixed in with the goodie bags that were handed out at the Anniversary Bash?
I do have to say that I received an incredibly prompt resolution to my issue and kudos to your service team for an outstanding job for resolving my issue and getting the EU code I received at the Seattle bash manually applied to my NA account. I’m looking forward to the same excellent customer service for my boyfriend, who is encountering the same issue and submitted his ticket this morning.
At this point, I’m just sticking around to provide moral support to those who are encountering similar issues, help them understand why they’re encountering the issue and what they should do to get their Mini Mr. Sparkles code applied to their accounts.
Henge of Denravi
I’m having the same issue as well, also submitted a ticket but that’s good news that Nubcake and Mr sparkles will be united, hopefully Xorra will be too!
I’m totally confident you will! Strawberry Nubcake had a trickier situation than most, as for whatever reason, the code was somehow redeemed a couple days before acquiring it from ArenaNet at the Anniversary Bash.* Those of us who have a case of not being able to redeem because the codes are region-locked to EU (which is the vast majority of cases) have a FAR less complicated issue and can get our situations resolved pretty easily by customer service.
*(I think I may have puzzled out how this may have happened. There were some fan sites and news sites that were running contests to win the Mr. Sparkles code. Perhaps the code on the card was one of those that ArenaNet gave to those sites for those contests, but the card was mistakenly never taken out of circulation. Total speculation, but it makes the most sense).

Wonderful news Strawberry! So glad this finally got resolved for ya!
Henge of Denravi
The codes are EU codes, which was a mistake. But customer server cannot magically convert all the unredeemed codes that are still in circulation into NA codes. Those of us who received EU codes at the Anniversary Bash are having to reach out to customer service for them to manually apply the minis to our accounts. And to be fair, it seems that most who have reached out to customer service reported that customer service applied the minis to their accounts fairly quickly.
The only case so far that has been drawn out is Strawberry’s, who has a unique case that is more complex than a simple “the code is region-locked for another region, we have to manually apply” issue. All we can really do is is be here for Strawberry for emotional support and hope that she is able to get situation resolved quickly.
Good morning. I attended the event. I was provided a EU code. When I got home that night I tried to input it and got the invalid message. I ticketed it that very night. Long story short, I’m still waiting and the person I attended the event with is waiting too. But to your point about converting to NA codes, my point would be that they shouldn’t have to. It’s just another example of almost getting something right. Almost.
So, I’m glad most of you have gotten yours, but I’m certain not all have.
If you submitted your ticket that very night and still have not gotten a resolution, I highly advise you to submit a post in the thread I posted earlier in this thread to ask Gaile to review your ticket. I’d totally expect things to take a little longer due to the holiday. But even if you deducted out the holiday, you both have been waiting three days, which shouldn’t happen. That thread I posted is intended for cases just like these.
Henge of Denravi
The longer this draws out the more you’ll be alienating some of your most ardent fans (those that took the time to come to your event).

I’m not sure. I submitted my ticket on Saturday and they have been responding whenever I update it. They are probably wishing I would stop fighting it. >_>;;
I’m going to give the people working with me right now a little longer to respond before getting her involved. Trying to avoid being a total pain in the butt! I never really thought I’d be in a situation like this… what’s the best way to get her attention if needed? The account issue followup thread?
Gaile has a thread for ticket reviews for tickets that have not been resolved in three days or more. May want to consider asking for her help here…

How much longer do you have to wait before you can seek out help from Gaile?
Henge of Denravi
Copy and pasting my advice from the other thread. Hopefully this helps you out!
It turns out the codes that were given out are region locked for another region that is not NA (I’m assuming EU). Customer service has to manually apply the code to your account in order to get the mini onto your account. Those encountering issues will want to submit a support ticket at support.guildwars2.com with following information…
-How you acquired the code (If you got it from an ArenaNet event like the Anniversary Bash, emphasize you received the code directly from ArenaNet).
-That you attempted to enter the code in-game and it didn’t work.
-That others have had the issue, were informed the codes are region locked for a region that is not NA, and had to have the code manually applied to their accounts by customer service.
-Indicate you want the code applied to your account (be sure to include the serial code number as well as the e-mail account associated with the account you want code applied to).
-Attach a screenshot of the error and a photo of the promo code card with the serial number.
Henge of Denravi
Feedback to ArenaNet for future events: please ensure that serial codes for future NA events are not region locked to EU (and vice versa). The Anniversary Bash was in the NA and the vast majority of those who attended are on NA servers. Yet I and many others received codes that are only usable on European servers at this NA event.
While I appreciate the excellent customer service I received to resolve the issue and get the mini onto my account, this has created a lot of additional work for both players (who have to take an extra step to reach out to support in order to get their goodies) and customer service agents (who have to investigate the tickets and manually apply the codes to each player’s account).
Henge of Denravi
While I am somewhat relieved I wrapped up my monthly yesterday, this does give me a lot of concern that these 2-week cycles may be a bit too fast of a clip for content releases to be well thought-out and thoroughly tested. I understand that a fix may be simply too risky of an endeavor, but I certainly hope ArenaNet’s pursuing some sort of resolution to compensate those impacted for the time/effort/coin lost in trying to obtain their monthly achievements.

Support has been activating the codes for players with NA accounts. All they have to do is submit a ticket with the code I think.

They were given out at the start of the birthday bash today and I have a code in my possession that isn’t working. weeps
Yeah yeah… already contacted support. :P
Update: A player contacted me in game to tell me people were having a similar issue when trying to use the codes from Gamescom on NA accounts. (Mine came from the event in Seattle and my account is NA.) I was in the process of bringing that up with support when they updated my ticket to let me know that my code had actually been used by someone else. Now I’m in the process of trying to get them to make things right since my code was a dud.
Hopefully this was an isolated incident!
I’m having the SAME issue with the code I received last night at the Anniversary Bash. Sucks that it’s not an isolated incident, but I do have to admit that I’m somewhat relieved that I’m not alone in experiencing this issue. :-/
EDIT – I received a response from customer service that it turns out the code I received at the Anniversary Bash was a region-locked EU code and that they will have to apply the serial code manually in order to get it onto my account. Strawberry, let customer service know that there are people at the Seattle event that got EU codes, send them the serial number that you received at the event, and tell them what account you want it applied to and they should be able to help (I found it helpful to include a link to your post indicating others are having the problem, feel free to provide them a link to my post).
I’m a few steps ahead of ya!
I posted several times in this thread earlier today: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mr-Sparkles-code-doesn-t-work/
I also updated my ticket when I stumbled across it to let them know that others were also getting an error when trying to redeem their codes. They still refuse to help me since they are convinced my code has already been used.
I’m noticing that I seem to be the only one getting this response, so maybe my code really was activated by someone else or support made a mistake and my ticket has a scarlet letter on it as a result? Either way, it wasn’t used by me or my boyfriend. As far as we know, the only people that had access to that particular code were the two of us and Anet staff. I can say with 100% certainty that we didn’t activate it… so who did? :/
I’ll probably try to get Gaile’s attention on Tuesday if support keeps telling me there isn’t anything they can do. Assuming they are correct about the code being activated, that means someone essentially stole my miniature. This is beyond frustrating and hearing that there isn’t anything that can be done is disheartening.
Ugh, so frustrating! I’m not sure if this helped my case out or not, but I made sure I mentioned the following:
-That I attended the GW2 Anniversary Bash yesterday and exactly what items were included in the goodie bag (to verify that I was actually at the Bash rather than someone who bought the code off the internet).
-Immediately upon receiving the Mr. Sparkles code card, I placed it in my wallet for safekeeping and nobody has seen the card since it has come into my possession.
-Since I received the code directly from ArenaNet, I assume the code has never been used before.
I just now got my mini from customer support. I’m not sure if it’ll help, but feel free to tell them that you know someone on the forums who received their code from the Anniversary Bash and encountered the same issue and to refer to my support ticket for how it was resolved (Incident Reference #130901-003270).

But we never found out the “real” way of taking him down.
That’s fine. Gives us more to puzzle out once he hits live!

As someone who was fortunate enough to try the new Tequatl encounter yesterday, I found it exhilarating and a lot of fun. I greatly look forward to seeing it on live and brainstorming strategies with my servermates on how to bring him down.
There’s a bunch of things to keep in mind about what you saw on the livestream. The developer intervention seemed to be only just enough to progress the event along so they could show the whole event off for the live stream. There were only 20 players playing during the live stream at any given time (60 total split among three groups of 20). We did also have developers and alpha testers participating on the back end as well. But I’m willing to bet we didn’t have near the 80+ players they said we’d need to successfully complete the event.
Also, we were playing with a bunch of people we had never played with before and playing mechanics we had never encountered before. And a lot of us didn’t even have time to digest the new mechanics and take advantage of LFG tool before we had to jump into the fray.
Another thing to keep in mind we were dumped onto pre-generated characters and many of us were playing unfamiliar builds. Most folks barely had a chance to swap out to different weapon sets. And all the pre-made characters were on accounts with keybinds set to default, which very much felt like playing with your hands tied behind your back if you rely heavily on customized keybinds.
What you saw on the livestream was a lot rougher than what we’ll likely see on live due to all these factors. I’m sure once it goes live and we’re playing on builds we’re familiar with, playing with our own keybinds, and actually have some level of coordination (especially when folks take more advantage of the new LFG tool), things will go a LOT smoother.
I’ve personally experienced encounters that required the same level of coordination and strategy in City of Heroes (the Hamidon Raid revamp). The COH community banded together and came up with strategies to bring the Hami down regularly and reliably. And in doing so, we bonded and our server communities became incredibly tight-knit as a result of the experience.
Don’t fret! I’m confident that our GW2 community will totally be able to come up with some strategies to bring Tequatl down! We can do it!

Scored Liadri last night and I FINALLY get to join the club! Full zerk mes 20/20/0/0/30 GS+ Sword/Focus. Got some handy tips from a fellow mes friend that helped tremendously. But the biggest struggle for me was realizing that you have to shuffle during phase 1 to avoid some of Liadri’s damage. Once my sig other helped me figure that bit out from all the YouTube videos, the rest came together relatively smoothly.

If you’re going, make sure you stop by the WvW team. Apparently they have some in-game goodies that you may be able to get for attending.
Is this at PAX or the Saturday event?
I believe this is going to be at PAX (doesn’t appear to be anything official, just some WvW devs attending PAX inviting folks to chat him up and may even have some goodies for folks)…

I think I will be going. This is my first time at PAX, I’ve read all the guides on what to bring and comfy shoes, etc… but I have no idea what Anet is going to be doing. They are pretty much the only reason I am going, it would be great to stop by their booth and meet some of the dev team. Have they posted anything about what they will actually be doing at PAX besides this event on Saturday?
I don’t know if I will go to this Saturday thing you have linked, but it does sound fun maybe I’ll try to make some room for it.
They haven’t posted anything that will be GW2-specific directly related to PAX and I’m not sure if they plan to have a booth on the expo floor this year (ANet didn’t have booth last year). They did post a list of PAX panels that ArenaNet developers/staff will be participating in…
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/arenanet-panelists-at-pax-prime-and-pax-dev/
Also, keep in mind that the GW2 Anniversary Bash on Saturday at the Renaissance Hotel is actually a separate event from PAX (it’s been confirmed that PAX badges are NOT required for attendance for the event).
As for PAX itself, definitely bring along comfy shoes, you’re going to be on your feet a lot! Stay hydrated, stay well-fed. Be prepared for lots of crowds and be prepared to be standing in a lot of lines. And have lots of fun!
