Map completion is too hard, so no.
Map comp is a blast the first time you do it without a guide. Each to their own a
I guess, like how I think SAB is the worst piece of content that ever happened to this game.
I don’t like sab either, you aren’t alone.
Played elem with staff for a year. I recently switched to S/D instead and I killed my first player in 1 vs 1 with just a few hours of getting to know the build and skills. Now u got to have skills to beat me 1 vs 1. Never thought pvp and wvw could be so fun ^^
And this video showed me some hints about elem I havnt even thought of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRo6W22FfTI
Elementalist is a really fun class to play! Love it!
S/D the only viable ele right now – and if your burst fails you are screwed.
Oooh, little tired here man. Yeah a RaF system would be great – similar to WoW’s for people that don’t really like leveling. TBH though you are missing out if you don’t level legit at least once through the game and get the gist of how things work.
If the RaF was only like 20% extra xp I think that would work perfect.
Most players loved Ascalon – now we have to kill their ghosts, if they are already dead, or blow up the remnants of their kingdom. Just.. no.
Good riddance.
Pre-Searing Ascalon was beautiful, and it is definitely missed. But a series of tents and campfires does not make a proper city. I sure don’t miss the huge tar pits, the barren soil, the crystal fragments, the desolation. At least now there is grass, water, and vibrant animal life. If we can get rid of the fool king and his spell, perhaps then the citizens can finally rest and Ascalon can continue to heal.
I just hope you know that you can thank the “tents, tar pits, desolation” and other things to the charr and the Searing, not Adelbern and the Foefire. Without them, Ascalon would be a beautiful place.
I know, I mentioned the Searing.
But that is an immutable fact of history within GW1 itself that cannot be changed. So in a thread that complains that GW2 is ignoring GW1 fans, I’d say it’s great to see Ascalon healing and a potential rest for those poor citizens instead of making us still deal with the desolation and ruins of a human Ascalon ~200 years later.
It is kinda sad when you think about it. There are still ghosts roaming after 200 years of unrest… wat.
It really depends what class you are. I think the opposite when it comes to new/return players. I think returns are harder to manage but new players are easy to get due to free trials and this being a B2P game. Most everyone at this point has at least tried GW2 (clearly not a fact), I’m just generalizing here.
But let us say Joe Casual wants to try an MMO. The barrier to entry to GW2 is pretty high compared to games like Rift/Tera/Neverwinter/SWTOR etc. When Joe Casual is looking for an MMO he probably will try the F2P ones first instead of spending $40-$60 dollars on GW2.
A B2P system is AMAZING if all MMOs are subscription, but that isn’t the case anymore. There are so many free games to chose from.
Most F2P MMOs are garbage imo.
I agree, but the random casual player doesn’t know that. They will go with the game with the least barrier to entry. Also, tastes are weird, there are people that prefer Runescape over any other MMO in the market.
I agree that’s true but are you saying GW2 should be F2P with cash shop to keep up with the competition?
Personally I think F2P would hurt the game more than anything but that’s my opinion.
As a thief I kind of feel like I’m in the old ele spot right now – S/D our only viable pvp build but if it gets nerfed we’ll be in the same boat as ele’s. Mediocre to bad in all weapon sets.
S/D right now isn’t too much different than the old D/D OP ele, yes they were OP but that was the only build viable. ANet didn’t replace it with anything and other classes got brought up in buffs meaning ele is left sitting on the side lines not even worthy of entering a tourney.
Tell me how a class that has the same HP as thief but 1/4 the evades and no stealth, long kitten cooldown on cantrips can survive more than 2 seconds being focused or should I say coughed on.
Nothing more than a profanity kitten.
I mean filter.
Yeah for sure – just add me and I’ll accept it once I get in game. Kinda busy today myself
if anything I’ll add you later if you can’t get on.
Adelbern was a coward and should have listened to his son Rurik. (RIP)

I honestly think the game will have problems getting new players, not returning players. But brand new players who plan to level from level 1. And I hope they try to do something to help with this problem.
The 1-30ish experience is fine, it is fun and diverse. But from 40-80 it is a painful to level especially solo. The leveling areas are dead (which should be expected) and leveling from 40-80 by yourself sucks.
Not sure why people bring up Tequatl, good luck doing it on most servers today. Even on the busiest servers you will rarely see it down anymore. People have moved on sadly.

For the recorded, I decided to play this game becuase ArenaNet said they were going to innovate the MMO genre. I haven’t played any other MMOs other than this franchise, so I’m not familiar with the loot mindset, but I certainly tell you that if that’s what makes the MMO genre… then that’s BULL kitten!
IMO, this mindset is an infection and needs to be destroyed.
Yep, it’s all about loot in most MMOs….it’s destroyed the whole concept of an RPG. MMORPGs focus more heavily on the MMO part than the RPG part. That’s why I haven’t found one I can stomach for any length of time.
I feel like playing a file through FF9 now… shut up with your RPG blasphemy.
I agree ele’s are pretty much a dead class at this point, but supposedly the oct. 15th update is gonna buff them. (lol conjures)
I’m not sure what I’m doing anymore. I have 3 level 80s (warr, necro, mesmer). I am working on map completion (88%). Other than that I’m gold farming, but I don’t even know what I want to do with it. I was considering making a legendary until the karma nerf sank that dream to the bottom of the ocean. I’m not at all interested in the ascended weapons.
I am in a guild. When I first started in it, it was great. Daily/weekly things to do, people to chat with; got me into WvW and some PvP and some dungeons; we ran temples and did JPs and it was a lot of fun. They were great. Then… it died. Suddenly and completely. Now I’m the only one that logs in. I really am no longer having a lot of fun so I’m not sure what to do. If I need help to finish Malchor’s Leap map, I have no one to do that with.
I log in every day, do my dailies, get my monthlies, and run the champ train cycle while slowly and boringly complete maps. I guess AP hunting. I do like some of the LS content, but with no guildmates I am loathe to do the new dungeon, since my experience with PUGs has been less than good. Can’t complete Teq because I have never been in a big enough group.
I don’t know. I used to look forward to playing. More and more it’s just becoming a mind-numbing, “well at least I’m not working or watching TV” exercise.
Trust me map completion is not hard, it’s just mundane. If you stick to it for a few hours you can get that 88% to 100. I was at around 90% for months, figured what the hell may as well finish it. Took me a day between cleaning the house and doing hearts mostly t complete it.
Thanks. I have been working on it. At this point I have some WvW areas, most of the race cities, and Malchor’s Leap (my lord there’s a lot of champs there and NO people to help!). So ML is hard, but I find the cities boring to do on my own. With a friend or two it would make it more interesting. Congrats on completing for you!
I have posted on LFG, but no luck yet. I’m on IoJ if anyone can recommend a good, active, friendly guild.
Sorry sometimes I forget I main a thief
I can just stealth my way to victory lol. …I can help you if you want, or just run with you. My IGN is my forum account obviously, might get on here in a few minutes if you wanna do some completion.
I can stealth you with refuge and what not.
I’d rather see an imbalanced game than a boring one.
This is a valid point and considering the game isn’t exactly balanced as it is, doesn’t fun take the priority?
(yet another GW1 comparison) I loved bringing ‘useless’ skills and builds to pve in GW1 like mimic skills where I steal the enemies spells etc. because 1) it was actually viable lol and 2) it was fun. Who cares about performance as long as you’re having fun? That’s what organized groups are for.
+1 for a ton more skills.

It’s funny because you’re kind of answering your own questions in the OP.
TBh the game isn’t that much different, but if you want an easy place to level just stick to queensdale farming, guarantee there are tons of people there no matter what server you’re on. You’ll get loot appropriate for your character eventually lol.
I noticed this since beta, it seems most loot you get are for other professions (encourage alts?) but idk, RNG is RNG.
I agree, it would be nice.
Lol also curious what MMO had 100 skills and you only used 10-15 of them…
Yes! A petition sounds good
Actually, a petition sounds bad, as it violates our Forum Code of Conduct. You’re better off having a discussion about the suggestion, as that is what the Dev Teams read.
Lol sounds a little hostile
Yes, agreed. The forums could use this (and a lot of other small tweaks, too, like “Date of Last Post”).
Good idea and +bump (hopefully this don’t get closed due to bumps)
I think it’s an important feature.
Edit: perfect example, just imagine you could instantly click to the dev post in this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/A-client-for-Linux/first

Permanent achievements, the ones that are left are mostly WvW and spvp which are taking for ever. Honestly the WvW ones are a bit over the top.
Anet simply tried giving people what they asked for, in a non traditional method, but it’s not good enough.
Exactly, they are literally obsessed with being different to the point they enjoy alienating players and seriously who thought it was a good idea to depend on 80 players open world to do a raid boss battle? ….
Pretty sure I wouldn’t be mad if they put in an instanced raid, that’s a win in my book.
Then I could do content with my guild and not rely on outside sources for success
There is nothing wrong with being different. The issue is that players are SHEEP! We are afraid of change. Don’t be sheep!
This is not WoW! Yet that’s what so many seem to want it to be. “We want mounts!” “We want pve dueling” “We want instanced raids” “We want more dungeons” “We want gear grind” “We want armor rating and inspect” The list goes on and on….
There are so many other games that do these, go play them! GW2 wants to be something different, and I applaud that. Are they going to get it right the first time necessarily? Hell no, but that’s part of growing pains! Let them grow, let them explore. If you don’t like what they are doing right now take a break, come back in 6 months and check out where the game is at. Still not to your taste? Well, it happens. Not every game can suit every player.
Lol so we should just sit back, shut up, and watch ANet fail for a few years because they want to be different. I’ll be here waiting to see when they get it right if I haven’t died by old age.
Calling people sheep is offensive btw
no need to be hostile. And difference/change for the sake of difference/change is not exactly good, in fact I believe it to be very bad. Change can be sometimes good but only if it comes with substantial benefits.
For example, ‘removing’ the holy trinity only to be replaced by a trinity of DPS is not exactly what I’d call a good change.

People too lazy to use swiftness skills are buying them all up, and TP flippers bump the prices up accordingly.
Or rather tired of the terrible design that required you to run a 25% increase speed utility.
Not every class gets perma swiftness. I can honestly say this was a great design for the rune set, but as always tied to RNG. I have not found a single superior rune that wasn’t garbage since beta.

Nope, enjoy the RNG!
“We want more challenging content!”
“We want raid like content”
“Pve is too easy!”insert Tequatl overhaul
“Omg its too hard, nerf it”
“Well I did it once, no point in doing it again”
mmm hmmm…. static, challenging content is so grand now isn’t it….
This is just one raid fight, and shouldn’t be in open world. I know ANet are obsessed with being different and all, but it ends up hurting the players in the long run.
^so that’s the justification for no new armor sets? Pretty lame if you ask me, just because something is hard doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Especially in a game all about (lol or supposed to be about) cosmetics.
You do know there are ascended armor previews out there, right?
Just cause you don’t have them now doesn’t mean they’re ignored. It takes time to develop stuff. I’m sorry you can’t have everything handed to you in one week or whenever you want it.
It has been over a year bro. Hardly any armor has been added, fact.
It doesn’t even bother me – I have my set and don’t plan on changing it, I’m not the type that changes his looks whenever that next cool piece of gear comes out (mostly because new gear is terrible). I find one and stick with it. But that was a funny counter argument, we’re not talking weeks here.
Lots of necro’s lately.
I don’t get it, what are you all spending so much karma on that makes this a problem? I still have like a million. I understand this is a little unfair for new players but really – karma isn’t used for much.
BECAUSE GW2 IS DYING
Really though probably because they want more players? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
They also have to please the gods over at NCSoft
Herm using tequatl to move people to high population servers now making transfers to medium population world free.Something fishy is going on.
Why in the world would anyone transfer to a high population server for PvE content when they can guest for free?
WvW is the only reason anyone transfers, logically anyway.
I’m not a server hopper… I’ll stick to Kaineng.
I’ll be honest, I hate getting under leveled characters in my group, you’re just a hindrance to the part and that’s the truth. Unfortunately everything is scaled to 80, regardless of whether or not it’s ‘viable’ you will be getting hit like a mac truck by mobs and don’t have all of your traits to support the party etc.
My suggestion is to just do events and such until you are 80 and have all your traits, then dungeon for gear or better yet buy a full set of exotics on the TP first. Not the players fault.
I can’t even imagine doing some of the dungeons at actual level appropriate without exotics… would be torture in PuGs. There is a reason why all the “QQ dungeons are impossible” at the start of the game was happening. Pretty sure ANet tested them at 80 instead of entrance level.
That said, I wouldn’t kick one underlevel out of the group since we could just carry them. In fact I’ve never kicked anyone regardless.
This would be incredibly useful. It’s a huge hassle to have when you see a thread that’s red-flagged, but then have to search through 10 pages or more to find where the rest post(s) is/are. If a thread is going on for more than a couple pages, it doesn’t take reading the entire thread to get the gist of what the community is saying about it, (at least on this forum,) so I’m really only interested in what staff have to say after the first page or two.
Agree’d, and bump.
^so that’s the justification for no new armor sets? Pretty lame if you ask me, just because something is hard doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Especially in a game all about (lol or supposed to be about) cosmetics.
Clearly you represent all of us, then. I stand corrected.
What was it you said, last week, about my posts?
I’ve found that guy true identity…
FOOLS! Excalibur :p
Most content you missed has since been removed, so the game will generally look the same except there are new invasion events that no one does.
I hope your in the minority with the negativity.
I’m just being honest.
For some reason they thought it a good idea to put a coordinated raid fight in open world. Lol.
Most content you missed has since been removed, so the game will generally look the same except there are new invasion events that no one does.
Very nice counter arguments, guys.
Essentially zero armor sets have been added that aren’t in the gem shop and using the AP armor as an example is quite ridiculous, how many points would it require for a full set lol? 10k? 15?
For a game that is supposedly all about getting better looking gear, sure is strange to see nothing but vertical progression instead of skins.
I will say there is a healthy amount of weapon skins being added but armor is on the losing end. I’m forgetting about ascended armor but those are ugly as hell so we won’t count that.
It’s not appropriate to have such a deep voice when the game allows me to make a really cute norn, seriously it just don’t fit. I could understand if I made one with the scarred face and made her ugly.
Aaaaaand there’s my #1 fan.
That’s me!
I lol’d
the TP search has been barely functional since release, much worse than what plenty other F2P games out there have
they promised they’d come up with more options and much better filters… a year agotbh, noone expects them to hold on to their promises anymore, considering what they did to their own manifesto
Strange, I don’t remember seeing that promise. Source?
Didn’t you say something along the lines of sources are too hard to find now because topics so old get deleted? And now you’re asking for source about a year old comment?
Aaaaaand there’s my #1 fan.
You had to know the "everything you love about guild wars 1 " line was campaign promise . I mean who honestly expected that to be true ? I doubt anyone , its just used as an excuse .
I believed it 100%, you know why, because ANet was a respectable gaming company during GW1 and we had their backs as loyal customers. There is a reason GW2 was so hyped, they had that backing and confidence in them and no one doubted that the legendary arena net was going to make an epic guild wars sequel.
That is until they betrayed pretty much every GW1 vet and ignore every one of their plea’s. Like above poster said, they wish we would just roll over and die and stop complaining because it’s all about money now not the players. Oh and not only did they betray us, but everyone else when they said NO GRIND (lol) and all this crap but everything changes when you get money in hand apparently.
$$$ is evil, but I’d much prefer to spend more if they would listen to their players.
Sequels are always bad
Kudos for that. A lot of games with sequels stray from the original game and make it rather boring.
Seriously why don’t devs get this? Are sequels that stray too much from the original EVER successful? Does it EVER not kitten off the fan base?
Well until ‘target nearest’ targets the closest thing by proximity, not closest to the centre of the screen, targeting will not be fixed.
Target nearest worked perfectly in GW1, it is kittening garbage in GW2.
Vouch GW2 targeting is just a troll, better off clicking, oh what’s that? Clicking your target doesn’t work either thanks to the thousands of clones and pets in your way? Tough luck, buddy!
/rage
Btw they need to add target nearest player for pvpers, I seriously don’t care about mesmers they shouldn’t have to rely on RNG and luck to win anyway. Especially when this is supposed to be e-sports. News flash: in e-sports, people don’t rely on luck and confusion to win but skill.
It’s not alt friendly because they want you to be forced into re-grinding everything on a new alt. So much for no grind aye. I guess that’s the only way to keep people playing without adding sufficient content.
In pro GW1 GvG guilds you were required to have everything bound, and in WoW you bind 20+ skills so I am just used to it, and for some reason I hate watching clickers, no offense.
Dailies shouldn’t reward AP at all.
Like the WoW forums, you should be able to press a button in the thread that takes you to the first ANet post. It sucks having to scroll through 5 pages just to find one of your replies.
Alternatively, it could be posted right next to the pin (left of the post when browsing forum) so we can click that and it takes us to your first post in that thread. Or make the pin which is already replaced with an ANet tag clickable and take us to your post.
Thanks~
