I’m really surprised they actually know the problem with thieves, I’ve actually gained hope in the pvp scene a bit, but it’s still going to suck seeing EVERY thief in the game now be S/D. Boon hate was needed but backstab or C&D better get some utility to it to keep up…
And yeah, D/D Ele right now is insane, stop complaining it was WAAAY over the top. Don’t worry you can still go faceroll for a few days before the patch hits. I don’t even think the nerf will be enough honestly but we’ll see.
There really isn’t much end-game, but there is surely enough grind to keep you busy for a long time.
Legendary – takes forever and tons of grind for mats
Ascended – again tons of grind of the same dungeon and dailies for laurels
Other than that, don’t bother looking for raids or anything of the like. I think ANet is so bent on being ‘unique’ (which is already out the window imo) that they refuse to add anything like raids, true pve progression content and just replace it with more grind.
Here’s to hoping this will change… I need a challenge other than vertical ‘progression’
In a good group yes vit and toughness are underpowered (nothing is useless), you have enough utility and dodges to survive and if you do go down you’re going to be back up in 2 seconds. In fractal everything will 1shot you anyway and to survive 1 more hit isn’t worth the massive damage loss you get. I run a GC thief as my main, I have around 15k HP 3k+ power and 100% crit damage.
I would be useless if I ran a “bunker” thief in tourney even though a good bunker build doesn’t really exist for us. Especially since we need stealth and on point that is not helping the team, you can’t keep a point neutral or cap in stealth so may as well go 25/30/0/0/15 and actually be useful.
I run the same build everywhere, boring but efficient. And people wonder why thieves are all the same :/ I wish glass wasn’t the only option. I know this is for pve but wanted to shed light on both aspects.
Agree’d, I’ve gotten all useless rings and I can’t even salvage them. They only sell for 4s at a merchant…
Up the gold reward for higher lvl DEs. Thats right GOLD reward, 1 silver is not enough.
higher level dungeons give you more silver. 10-15 silver every boss fight in CoE. I believe Arah is the same.

and bosses are the ones that give you 15 silver every go. CoF yellow token armor has a lower chance to get you ectos, so there it’s better to invest in exotics and salvage those.
I’m telling you I don’t make more money in Arah lol, you can farm CoF 10x faster and get way more gold. I know how loot works, but time investments >

This game is lacking proper rewards for the amount of time you spend doing things. There are no unique rewards, the only thing player have to farm is gold and that’s kitten.

The day DE’s become rewarding I’ll actually do them. And I’m not talking about the amazing blue white green drops I get from the mobs while doing the DE, but the DE reward itself. I get my money by being a legendary garbage collector, merchant, whatever you wanna call it. We should have our own mercantile trait line like in elder scrolls games, I spend half my time selling trash.

The only option is to nerf crit damage on items by a good amount.
Yeah let’s just make zerker gear useless.. no, bring support and condition up to par. Running pure damage is fine, because you sacrifice survival. Running anything else is not fine, because you sacrifice a ton of damage and this is a DPS game.

We still have the same ONE boring pvp mode, conquest that no one even likes, yet pve has gotten countless updates. Godmode D/D Ele’s still run rampant, haven’t seen any balance since the game released spvp wise. You tell me…
Damage > support because offensive stats are literally the only thing that scales well in this game.
on FPS, less populated map avrg 115 frames, higher populated map avrg 75-85 fps and in WvW avrg 25-30 fps (after culling is removed)

Thanks for the heads up. As I´ve gone for an i5 my performance should be slightly(I hope) worse than that.
But at least it seems to be playable, unlike now where I get single digits while in the middle of a Dragon Event(or near a kitten Molten Alliance Portal (what the kittendroppings is up with that ANet?!)).Haven´t even bothered with PVP yet.
PVP should be fine. You’ll experiencing poor fps in WvW and Dragon events (when there are alot of players) only.
It’s ok though because both of those are dependent on zergs and you literally only have to autoattack.

GW2 also needs the basic options like particle effect density slide bar, because half the time you can’t even see what a boss is doing much less get decent frame rates around a big group.

The irony is theres almost no real support in the game. Other then water staff ele and to some extent staff/wells necro, most classes ability to support others is quite limited.
Most ‘support’ builds are like relying on a Paragon to heal your group instead of a Monk in GW1. Does a little good now and then, but can’t generate large amounts of healing. (Never mind that Paragons look like Monks compared to even the top healing builds in GW2)
Imbagon is a perfect example of good support. They were mostly focused on reducing incoming damage rather than healing. But yeh, I agree.

It’s the dungeon designers fault for allowing us to skip near half the dungeon mechanics by cheesing, so one can only assume it is all intended. Speed runs are fine, let people that want to farm do so because everything else in the game is unrewarding as hell.
Maybe they should take a hint on that… either better loot in open world or better rewards for finishing an event. Possible wooden chest, or idk maybe more than lol2silver? I spend over that much on each waypoint alone… so sad.
Guarantee if the bridge in CoF was actually rewarding to complete, people would do it. But like I said… a whole 2 silver for spending a lot of time on those mobs just isn’t.
A zerker warrior dying just means he’s bad, has nothing to do with his gear since I run zerker on every class.. anything else is just pointless if you know how to dodge. Run 3k toughness and 30k HP, cool you can survive a few more hits… in exchange for massive damage loss.

I find this notion of having a “main” completely ridiculous. All the classes I play are completely situational for me. All of them are completely geared up (3 exotics sets each) and leveled up so that might be why I think having a “main” is ridiculous, I can just hop in into whatever I feel like when I feel like and have the same amount of fun.
Try gearing multiple characters with ascended and legendaries. Whichever you play the most will equal your main, you can have a main and still run alts. It’s not ridiculous, in fact it’s required in this game to have a main if you want it fully decked out.

I am not trolling i think ppl views are too WoW minded as in if its not like the way it is in WoW then its not the real way. I am trying to get ppl out of this very non progression for mmorpg mind set. In effect if you want to call it an instanced only event then we have a zone wide instanced because most of these big events take up or use most of the maps that they are in.
Every MMO that has raids are in very controlled environments that require group effort and using your brain to defeat multiple bosses. GW2 has nothing even close to raids and they are certainly not the faceroll world bosses we have. You clearly haven’t raided before, and that’s fine, but please don’t say raids are in this game.
ANet are not going to add skill variety, they avoid these threads like the plague and this would not bode well for their 2 man pvp team.

Yes they are, if you got a rare as a drop it would have appeared in a chest, sometimes they are hard to spot.
You do hold a very valid point, zerker gear is the be all end all because eventually everything just 1shots you so it comes down to dodging. I wish it was more balanced in terms of armor and abilities like it was in GW1, but meh this is what we got. My advice… which I’ve told a lot of people at this point, is to just quit and hope ANet makes the game better in the future.
I also feel you in the sense that you don’t know who healed you or who is doing what to help the party out.s. It doesn’t feel very team oriented at all, even in high fractals as many people use as an example of team play, it sure doesn’t feel like it. I’m up to 30+ and we still use the same exact strategy.. every man for himself spam your boons etc. and revive when you see someone down.
Still all about yourself and no team play other than reviving, at least that’s how it feels, it can definitely be improved immensely. Just feels like you’re playing solo but in a group lol, oxymoron ftw. Same thing goes for open world and pvp, a lot of the time you can’t do squat to help someone.
Incoming WoW example…
I can use my rogue to have upwards of 6+ second stun or a 10s CC (stops if target is damaged) to lock a target down if a friend is dying, I don’t even need the ability to heal others just a viable way of shutting an enemy down so they can get away, heal up, or whatever. Most CC in this game only lasts very short times in pve which I think needs to change or heal power needs to be scaled up waay higher on things like regen.
This can all happen without affecting pvp/WvW. When a friend feels helpless, so do I, because I can’t do anything to save them. Needs to be more team play and less 1 man army crap, it would feel much more like an MMO to me.
Still think the removal of monk was the worst idea ever.

Gamers should take a step back and see what is truly going on, Anet is kinda smart in what there are doing…they are letting players have the ability to make there game an E sport.
Think about it, they will add spectator mode and custom arenas, not only will hardcore PvPers ( what is left from it ) show us how to truly play a class, they can go also to twitch tv and cast it while Anet developpers are looking from a sideline and hopefully truly see what needs a nerf and what not…..
I have faith it will eventually get into and E sport game but dont expect it for the next months to come…its the first big step towards it dow
Im my opinion what they truly need is a 2v2 3v3 arena game and I HOPE they learn from the spectator mode as they will look at other players how they play. I want Anet developpers themselves to create a map with no gimics at all, just plain old arena maybe with a respawn for a couple of times when you are dead and then full out deathmatch
you can already do this with streams, but nobody watches them because cookie cutter classes and conquest = boring. Custom servers wont suddenly make watching a d/d ele fighting a guardian on a small circle any more exciting.

I agree, removal of tanks I can handle but without a prot or heal monk everything is so shallow imo especially since monk was one of my mains and then ANet just goes lol whelp too bad we removed that completely so have fun with your 5k self heals and 200 regen ticks whilst getting 1 shotted.
Right now we are all glorified DPS with tiny amounts of support and I emphasize the tiny when we are hit with such insane damage. You’d be better off with 2 more dodges and the complete removal of a self heal because dodgedodgedodge, heals are pointless when you are downed in 1-2 hits.

Wow kind of is an esport. There is a massive following of people that watch PvP just for the fun of it, along with a series of paid tournaments across many conventions/events. It might not be on the scale of games like LoL, but still an esport.
WoW, the only pvp that is actually more fun to watch than play. Because playing, you’re CC’d 99.9% of the time and it’s more like spectating someone else anyways lol.

I make it a point to put all of my cdkeys in a document on my desktop and save them as time goes by. Idk why people don’t do this, but your best bet is to send in all available info you have even if it seems irrelevant.. after all, you’re only asking for a name.
Not sure how good ANet support is now but back in GW1 I forgot my char names on a yearly basis and they fixed me right up after I sent them my acc info and all that good stuff. Didn’t and still don’t have my GW1 keys either so it shouldn’t be required.

We usually do the door by mixing refuge and ports so we can ignore trash, killing the boss is not that hard though… we do him normal instead of the typical glitching bs.
You can kite while doing w/e and focus the boss down pretty much.. you shouldn’t be paying too much attention to his lackeys but more him. You should not be having any problems dodging it after you’ve killed him a few times.
A lot of stuff in this game is seemingly impossible until you get it down, idk why ANet loves to design that way but it is what it is. Helps not to be in a PuG…

Whenever I log in, I find something I want to do whether it is doing a dungeon or searching the dyes or weapons to get a better look or a superior build that crashes everything and getting the gear/profession for that build.
The game is evolving, but some mechanics are the same since day 1 and these turn the game into non-fun.
I just wanted progress towards precursor. The other stuff you need for legendary accumulates slowly but precursor doesn’t. Getting 77 Mystic Clovers can be difficult but I see them growing in my inventory, this gives me power and will to continue.Why doesn’t Zommoros award me with a special coin for every attempt for precursor? And I can get a precursor for 100 coins for example? There is progress here. This is what I want. Not dumping all of my hard earned gold into nothing.
True, that is progression, and doesn’t make you feel too bad for wasting a bunch of exotics in the mystic toilet. I would gasp actually go for a pre-cursor if it was set up with a coin system like that.
I would even rather just outright buy a pre-cursor and mats on the TP even at the insane prices than deal with the horrible RNG and grind, and RNG in the grinding itself on top of more grind and you guessed it..RNG
Nothin’ legendary about a legendary, not sure why you even want one tbh. Plenty of decent looking skins elsewhere for one billionth the grind. When I see someone with a legendary what do I think? “man that guy/girl grind her butt off for that.” not some epic quest chain or whatever. They just aren’t worth it imo… do yourself a favor and try something else like.. grinding for ascended rofl.

Interesting. Your graphics card and CPU is stronger than mine, yet I experience none of what you do.
That’s because GW2 has horrible optimization, it’s pretty much random with any PC. Some low end rigs will run better than the best high end, it makes no sense.
I blame bad performance on the games insane particle effects, this MMO is supposedly released in 2012 yet it doesn’t have a particle effect slider? Lolwat? How did they not see this coming?
Some bosses you can’t even dodge their attacks because BLUEFIREANDSOMEOTHERSTUFF. Can’t even see what’s going on half the time.. especially in pvp where it really matters.
My problem isn’t so much with lag as it is no visibility but the effects are causing both of those problems.

I feel your pain and agree, RNG is just… way too hardcore in a game that wasn’t supposed to have grind, much less the vertical kind.
I’d recommend just quitting and sitting on your account instead of giving everything away as maybe someday ANet will make the game better, supposedly we are getting the legendary scavenger hunt that was mentioned months ago, so there’s that… maybe in 2015 if we’re lucky. But still, I’ll take anything you don’t want.

Templates and GvG, plus a test krewe like in GW1 so we can actually get some decent balance rolled into the game. Rewards that carry over to pve, why are we not allowed to make gold by investing so much time into pvp? We could in GW1.

You guys put everything in GW1 on automated now and don’t even have the decency to adjust for time zones, that is horrible. I cherish my memories of GW but I kind of wish I never got into it and just stuck with WoW, then I wouldn’t be eternally disappointed with GW2 and arena net.
Its pvp. Anet went with the pve crowd so they didn’t focus on making cash off of pvp players. Look for ESO.
Lol implying ESO will have balanced or good pvp… don’t get me wrong I am really looking forward to the game but come on. The only people who could possibly make good fun balanced pvp in an online game were GW1 devs and they are all but gone now.
You know why GvG isn’t in the game? They wouldn’t know the first thing to do with it.
Much easier to make a bunch of boring conquest maps.
