They did add a lot of DEs early on but it wasn’t met with fanfaire.
No tolling of alarms? +1 to anyone who gets that
I would prefer less zerg lootfest events and more story driven, interesting events that are more akin to quests. I’m a little over killing wave after wave of mindless mobs to fill my bags with useless vendor trash.
Yeah, we can stop dreaming it’ll ever happen. Gotta watch the new episode of castle and hit the hay, later
Someone called me Eurotrash once… I’m US, so I promptly started cutting my wrists to my chemical romance.
What, you actually expect esport features in your esports?
This “GvG” clusterbleep here reminds me a lot of Dragon Nest 8v8 stuff. The game had great combat and on a small scale the fights are visible like 1v1, 2v2 etc. But every player has so many flashy abilities that when it’s an 8v8 it’s just a giant friggin mess.
Look here lol : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SQFPIL6sro
Looks like GW2 pve, and a lot of the time pvp.
Sweet pvp content!
And what forum is as bad as GW2’s? 90% of this forum is against ANet.
I have no seen so much hate on a gaming forum, even WoW has cleaner forums and half the playerbase there are nothing but trolls.
I’m sorry but if most your forum is littered with people telling you what a crap job you’re doing, there is something wrong. It’s not merely a “let’s hop on the hate train because yolo!”
League Of Legends.
I was referring to MMO but ok, of course a F2P forum is going to be crap.

It’s painfully obvious since most the topics address the same exact things.
Lol guild lord in GW2 dies in like 2.5 seconds.
In case you haven’t noticed, and you apparently haven’t, ANet ignores the thousands of pvp feedback threads, and the cry for more game modes especially GvG.
All I’ve seen them do for the past year is ‘forward’ the suggestions to the pvp team and literally nothing ever comes of it.
This is Arena Net http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCFyJIDGztA
WoW > GW2 pvp
and that’s bad. pvp in that game has been trash since BC but I’d much rather get CC chained into oblivion than play conquest 24/7.
I wonder how long ANet are going to ignore the community and refuse to put GvG in, the staple of the entire series… zzz. I guess it would suck anyway since all the old devs are gone now.
All they can do is attempt better balance, but this games pvp will always suck.
Grats on esports though, enjoy your 100 views.
and if “all pets get immunity to AOE” they will be broken in half in any pvp wvw scenario.
If I recall correctly, every single MLG team in the sPvP tourney was running a spirit ranger. “Mediocre at best.”
Come up with a better solution.
Nope they won’t because they are already weak. The last pet to be weakened were the Rangers.
This is exactly beside the point however, because this kind of thing has been done countless times in other games as the fixall for the heavy pet class system and it works! They know it’s a problem and you guys blew up the forums when they talked about nerfing AOEs well something has to be done and giving pets a 90% immunity to AOE damage across the board has been tested before.
But I predict mind you that instead of actually looking at the development history of these systems they’ll continue to delay this mechanism and continue to have cookie cutter non-pet heavy builds for at least another year before someone actually looks at it and says “hey you know what? why don’t we do this? it’s been done before” and poof it will be finally done but it will most likely be too late because people will have moved on to something else most likely having been tired of waiting on something so simple.
WoW has one of the most reputable/successful hunter/pet systems in MMO history, and to my knowledge, has never nerfed AOE for it.
They made the pet ignore a large part of AE damage.
They also made the pet always attack from behind to help avoid cleaves.
The Hunter’s pet is only 15% of the class’s damage as opposed to 40% here.
I dunno, a BM hunter has a lot of damage from the pet, including some skills that require one being active including but not limited to their resource management.
That could even be baseline though, can’t remember.
Wait, what?
What is ANet’s fetish with cutting bits off of their own game?
I haven’t heard of removal of fractals but apparently the game is more alive when you keep taking out content, at least according to ANet.
Huh. I don’t play dungeons too often (and when I do, our party gets wiped ten times over before we get to the end), but I’ve always run across fully-specced 80s in the EXP runs and level-appropriate folk in the Storymode.
Maybe it’s a regional thing.
Do you even dodge? Dungeons can be ran without any armor at all. I am just curious how your party wipes ten times over?
Really though dodging is your best friend in this game, unlike other games where you stand still and allow enemies to attack you. This method just does not work in this game, stay moving stay dodging.
You lose DPS when dodging, when you can just out damage most boss in this game before it has a chance of killing you I don’t see the point. Anything in CoF dies in about 7 seconds to an organized speed clear, and that’s not over exaggerating.
But yeah, who the hell dies in this game anymore other than to cheese 1shot mechanics.
idk, is it really that tedious? I just did leathercrafting to 400 in one day. I spent a few gold to do it quick, but what other mmo can you max level a craft in a single day?
I can level any craft in WoW in a day – just requires spending a good amount of gold on the auction house. It isn’t some new amazing technique that GW2 came up with. And yes, it’s tedious and the only reason I did it in this game was for the achievement points. Crafting is freaking useless and doesn’t make you money.
First MMO to ever trivialize crafting and actually lose money instead of profit off of it.
Not like the game is called GUILD WARS or anything.
By all means, let’s not add WARS between GUILDS into it.
In fact, let’s throw sand into the community’s eyes by posting the pathetic “adding this in would hurt our other PvP elements sorry guize it can’t be helped(((((((((” excuse.
And THEN, let’s have our official developers scrutinize said community by trying their best to implement a feature so lustfully sought after on their own!ANet has still yet to continue surprising me about how low can they fall, it would seem.
It seems ANet are in a very chaotic state of disarray, with employee’s leaving or getting fired, 2/3 of the founders leaving the company, etc.
That’s what greed and ignorance will get you. Their employee reviews are mostly telling how bad the company was to communicate with, or underpayed them.
Now we wait for the last main dev to leave and we can kiss GW goodbye forever and say hello to the world of guild wars craft, officially.

The entire condition system is just terrible, it needs a complete overhaul to work.
There shouldn’t be stacks of anything at all imo. It’s an issue that people were telling ANet during beta, but they just ignored it and now look everyone is zerker.
They’ve been ‘looking into this’ for a year now lawl.
I don’t see how their coding can be so horrible when WoW has handled separate condition counters for years even in 40+ man raids. ???
It’s not that there are few voices of reason to counter the trash talk, but few reasons.
If ANet paid attention to the constant gripes and change the game accordingly we wouldn’t see the same threads pop up 24/7 saying the same exact things.
Give Thief a weapon set with combo attacks, ala GW1.
Since most everything is RNG grind I’d say doing permanent achievements, I did most of them. At least I know a set amount of AP are going to be rewarded to me.
They need yet another basic MMO utility though – a way to check peoples achievements and compare them, see which ones just grinded a ton of dailies or actually played the game.
I ask myself why every time someone uses a real world example vs a video game, seriously get real.
Temporary is the staple of GW2.
Not worth it, zero dollars spent except for box value.
Can’t battle in clothes (???) and everything else is greedy RNG boxes.
ANets development team isn’t the smartest, nor do they ever see issues that are inevitably going to arise.
Condition damage has been completely forgotten about in pve and no one knows why they used such terrible restrictive coding so we can only have 1 stack of 25 bleed.
Best bet is to just go raw damage.
Most of the game at 80 is just a grind hoping for that special loot drop with .01% rate.
It doesn’t change much if at all except you will have all of your traits and begin gearing up aka grinding for ascended.
I think ANet have a very skewed view of fun since they dropped GW1.
Mindless grinding for example does not = fun.
20 posts crying about the definition of temporary – only on the GW2 forums.
Hype, lies, whatever you wanna call it.
This part specifically makes me lol because this game is littered with daily crap.
I can’t tell you how many times I played Quest for Glory; the game didn’t give me 25 daily quests I needed to log in and do—I played it multiple times because it was fun!”
and
Can we focus our time on making meaningful and impactful content, rather than filler content meant to draw out the experience? Can we make something so much fun you might want to play it multiple times because it’s fun, rather than making you do it because the game says you have to?
No, apparently you cannot, ANet.
GW didn’t have server but districts instead. Stop throwing strawman arguments at me lol, getting mad or what?
BS, you’re not gonna get a blood clot for sitting a few hours or more unless you’re already unhealthy. If that was true I would have died years ago.
GW1 had no competition? Lol I specifically remember WoW being a huge thing back then, since both games released around the same time. It’s amazing GW was even able to bring people in during that time.
I agree GW was too intelligent a game to appeal to the masses but the people it did appeal to were very happy with it – I’m so baffled ANet just chooses to ignore that entire playerbase and pull a Blizzard making the most casual game possible (read:dumbed down).
GW wasn’t even that hard, it just took some basic thought to throw a build together and read your opponents. Too bad, people prefer brainless zerging it appears.
Being a truly unique niche is more important than being yet another MMO that failed to meet expectations because it’s trying too hard to be something it’s not. GW2 is just another clone, a korean grind.
All those F2P MMO’s are trash, no competition there lol.
Only because ANet refuse to support RP.
We have 1/10th the emotes we had in GW1.
No RP server (officially)
RPers begged for a server since beta and when ANet outright ignored them they had to make their own.
the pvp is the most balanced you’ve seen ever? LOL is this your first video game?
My exact thoughts… brain almost esploded.
I’m sure some of anet developers are sad as we all are. They wanted to make an epic mmo with esport but instead they are forced to create facebook games because metrics say so. Sadly.
Maybe they should start building a game for their players instead of stock holders.
Without stockholders there wouldn’t be a game at all.
Look at GW1, you can do both. And thank you sherlock.
Terra is trash and has the most boring questing in any MMO to date so I can understand that.

It’s like every two weeks we get a different type of garbage in our loot table
Living Story
I’ve become spoiled.
I tried to play WoW last month. I couldn’t stomach it. 5.2 content has been out since early March. Only thing that has changed was crappy ‘heroic’ scenarios that are kitten easy, and some daily quests in the Barrens.
GW2 has released 13 updates since then, compared to WoW’s 1 since March (had to look it up). Sure I may not be interested in everything that GW2 releases, but it’s still peaks my interest enough to log on an check everything out.
Oh, also I was a huge PvP-er in WoW. I tried queueing for a BG recently. After 9 minutes in queue, i just Alt+f4-ed. The game is no longer worth 15 dollars/month to me.
First off, I’m confused how you couldn’t stomach a few barrens quests or a bg queue (which btw will never take 9 mins if you are lvl 90.) but you can easily handle all the garbage LS content? Spam F 200 times? Do you not remember anything ANet has released? At least 10 x worse than WoW quests, and btw Blizz just let out a ton of new raid content and a new zone that will last a billion times longer than some temporary garbage in GW2.
WoW has already copied or already had every single GW2 feature(lol) so they aren’t unique anymore. Blizz is smart, they aren’t afraid to take a good idea and implement it. ANet on the other hand…. enjoy your zergzergzerg ‘living story’ more like living grind.
This game is terrible right now and it’s sad because it has the most potential out of any MMO out there. Or should I say HAD? The GW1 ship sailed long ago.
I don’t RP often myself, but I do recall that Anet wanted to have a lot of these features in for launch, as they were talking about how expansive their RP systems would be and all the interaction you’d have in the world (such as sitting in chairs and drinking).
Guess adding in content so they can delete it is more important though.
Hah, sad but true. I don’t really RP myself either but I find it annoying how if you log out while /sleeping in a bed or somewhere it makes you stand up.
I just call it Grind Wars now.
Let’s nerf inf. strike so the thief isn’t used at all, perfect plan.
The dps output in this game is way too high, so there comes naturally a counter with it. And to be honest I rather face a guardian bunkering than a ranger with evade spam.
The point why guardian is preferred over other bunker-classes is “Stand your Ground”. As no other class can provide 6 seconds of stability to the whole team on a30 (24) sec cool-down.
Bingo. !!!!!
I wouldn’t mind a good nostalgic reference here and there but all those resources going into an entire zone(s) that has nothing to do with the game or its story?
ANet have always had more subtle ridiculous changes like the Terminator quest which was hilarious in GW1. You save Gwens mother back in time and the golem jumps in the lava at the end after using “I’ll Be Back!” (it was a skill in GW1), loling just thinking about it.
Divine*

Yeah have some patience guys, it’s only been a year, we’ll get the most basic of features soon.
Mad King would be my favorite too since I’ve loved him through GW1, did all the achievements for it, ignored any other update thereafter.
I’m 24. SAB sucks, if I wanted to play Mario, I’d play Mario. I still have my working SNES and 64. Oh and my 3DO.
24? So old.
Not a kid was my point, someone said people who don’t like SAB are kids.
I’m 24. SAB sucks, if I wanted to play Mario, I’d play Mario. I still have my working SNES and 64. Oh and my 3DO.
People weren’t logging in because there was nothing to do. Newer and better content could have been added for months. But no.. they took the gear grind alternative. Because grinding events 24/7 wasn’t enough grind so they gave us grind to go with our grind. Hey I hurd u leik grind?
It was the ultimate hypocrite move, “we don’t want players to grind” yet that’s what their entire pve experience is built on, abysmal drop rates and now vertical progression. It just doesn’t make sense in the world of Guild Wars.
As if forum outcry wasn’t obvious enough that players didn’t want that garbage, proof that ANet doesn’t listen to its players at all or simply don’t give a kitten.
How many posts asking for better and longer dungeons, with less 1shot cheese and more mechanics, you know, like raid fights or FoW, UW, DoA, SE, that level of difficulty on release keeps players extremely busy for a long time.
To this day people have a lot of trouble with the last slaver’s boss in GW1, he’s ridiculous if you don’t know exactly how to fight him. Never seen and probably will never see anything even close to that in GW2.
The trash in that dungeon actually revive each other forcing you to rupt and focus target, have you seen anything that remotely resembles that sort of coordination in this game? This is the easiest MMO I’ve ever played, to the point it bores me beyond belief.
You know, not everyone enjoys playing farmville.
We get a ton of temporary content, meh. Faceroll loot pinata army of mobs, meh. Jumping puzzles, meh. All bosses use the same cheese mechanics, 1shot better dodge it brohamlets, so interesting amirite?
ANet could take notes from their predecessor instead of outright ignoring it and pretending it never happened because GO GO GADGET CASUALS.
Really? GW2 pvp difficult? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLLOHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
No. Even for the layman this game is extremely easy and straight forward, I mean we don’t even have to manage resources like in GW1. I’d looove to see these bads even attempt a GvG, hell even a RA match.
Fact: gamers are getting too lazy and devs are accommodating them, WRONG MOVE.
Get good or get lost. You have no place in pvp if you want to faceroll and win, that’s what pve is and always has been for. Pvp is already braindead and you want to make it easier… sigh, really.
(((((((((” excuse.
