There are dyes of all shades in the game. I would recommend getting gear with at least 3 color slots per piece, maybe a bit patchy looking, and play with the colorations for effects. Get a bit creative, I’ve seen great cosplays ingame. The dyes should be dirt cheap on the TP too, since few people like these muddy ugly colors.

There is some form of an lfg-tool in the contact list that is inconvinient and not used. It has been stated they are working on a new tool, but no news on when it will come.

This one is very popular and well known and gives you the option of notes.
However, if you are this new to dungeons, I highly recommend you to find a friendly guild that is willing to show you the tactics required, as going in unknowing can, depending on the dungeon, end in a serious beating for you. If you ask nicely like you did here, a lot of people will be happy to explain. The community is better than its reputation.

They made better content and it stayed longer and was much better accessable. Living Story simply means you get to experience significant events in the world as they happen.

Who is the insane Asura in the Asura fractal? I love this fractal merely for the kitty-golems. I usually have to mute my TS in these battles because I keep giggling. It’s clear the Asura made them because he is lonely, but why is he? Where is he, who left him and why?

According to the wiki its a Black Lion chest rare drop. Drop research doesn’t have enough data to give an estimate on the drop rate wich gives me the fear it will be ultra ultra rare.

The change was made to stop Corpse Running. Now you are forced to do the boss as is. Or rez your mates manually. If your are left dead for so long time periods, your teamplay is indeed lacking. You can also bring rez orbs to rez yourself if you don’t trust your mates to do it ^_~

No. Maybe put in some nice spots to host RP weddings (nice quiet area in the grove/empty cathedral in Divinities Reach) but no real marriage system. People would get married just for the stuff that comes along. MMOs with a system always see it abused. Gather your Guild and Roleplay a wedding at a pretty spot. I’m sure a lot of people will attend, it’s a nice idea =)

The minimum price is vendor price. You can’t put any offer less. There are remaining listings from before that was patched that will be removed over time. Since the profit and listing fee are very nicely stated and obvious, I disagree upping the limit. Would only shift the problem marginally upwards but not change the situation.

Maybe the timing could have been tinkered with. The first two months saw achievements that were done in half an hour. The last installment was packed with exciting content and lastet only shortly. But it was very accessable, especially considering the Karka desaster.

The dungeon staying longer ist also my only complaint. It was just fun to do =) Still hoping for a fractal including the awesome end bosses and the insane dredge with his weapon testing chamber
Over all, it was a very nice experience. Starting slow, picking up pace. Pretty designs, more accessable than the Karka event, spanning many zones. I’m happy with how it turned out.

I found the experience rather enjoyable and quite easy. And I don’t fancy myself as a good player. The design was extremely well thought out. Mechanics were introduced bit by bit in a very nice learning curve. The mechanics were fun and new, too. The only annoying thing were the ton of pointless trashmobs as time sinks. All in all still more fun than most other dungeons. But that differs with taste of course.

The Lost and found and Secret Contact have been extended for 2 days to 14th instead only 12th to make up for bugs. The dungeon was announced to last that long even before it went online. All deadlines were known. For the dungeon, you even had the timeline running the whole time in the UI to remind you to finish it. And it was doable the whole time. Dungeonwise it was even pretty easy because it included a verry well thoughtout learning curve to teach you the mechanics bit by bit. I’d rather see parts of the dungeon recycled into a fractal because it was designed so well.

I don’t get why people are so upset about temporary content. Because… well.. you asked for it. A lot. When the game started, the forum was choked with threads of people whining about the lack of world changing events. It was promised to us in the manifesto after all. The world will change over time, not be stale and boring like usual MMOs. it was one of the selling points. And after launch, when they were still busy observing how the game turned out, players immediately turned on dynamic events because they had no longer impact and reset too fast. Now we get living world content, where the story actually effects the outside world, things change over time as promised. The original threads are gone since they delivered and instead we got people now complaining about getting what was promised. You can’t please everybody =|
The only thing I would mention is that player action has little effect on the story right now. It was promised that OUR actions affect the world. If that is incorporated into living story (one server goes one direction, one server decides differently) then all promises would have been fulfilled. But living story is still going and I’m curious to watch what will happen.

Note that you need Agony Resistance only for Fractals of level 10 and up. If you start under 10, the fractals are easier and you will encounter no agony damage, giving you ample time to gather relics for your infusion. As correctly stated by Khisanth, enter the FotM portal in LA, the last golem will sell the +5 AR infusion for 75 relics.

Could be a bug related to the slight highlight effect you get when mousing over an object. Instead ob subtly lighting up behind daid object, the highlight goes full power on top? I would advice you to ask in the technical support forum or better send a ticket with the screenies and system test file. The guys there were very helpful to me. Usually takes a day max for them to answer.

I like guaranteed returns. You work for it / pay for it then you get what you paid/worked for. RNG makes me feel cheated because in most cases you will get nothing/crap for it. In this game in particular, there have been made GREAT steps towards the right direction. You run a dungeon, you get tokens. After so and so many runs you are guaranteed the dungeon item you want. Same with FotM tokens and WvW. SAB went a middle way. They had the classical rare drops. But additionally you could just buy it with earned currency. That was perfect! F&F had a lot of specific drops that were hard to obtain, but at least tradable. Additionally we got guaranteed gauntlets if the content was completed.
The BLCs as of now are useless. They contain 99% crap I do not want. The boosts I rather buy directly to get the right ones. I can do that, so that’s perfectly fine. The Molten Weapons however… they are not low availability, they are UNavailable. No way to reliably get them. The tickets are untradable which was a very very bad decision. People who don’t like the styles get the weapons and can’t sell them, people who want them have no way of attaining them. Sounds like fun. The mining pick was obviously a huge selling success. Because you could actually buy it! I pay, I get what I paid for. It’s a good concept. There are people that have no fun in gambling, so at least make the gambling stuff tradable. The dyes are their own can of worms. Not going to adress this. At least I can buy the ones I want from the TP. Meh…

Other people get none in the lower level zones and will say that you need a farming set of gear that is full of +% Magic Find.

MF doesn’t affect gathering nodes. Just mob drops.

I agree that farming is ineffective. In our guild we put opened dyes we don’t need into the guild bank, so we exchange nicely between each other. It keeps the fun of openeing the dyes and is still effective in getting a good sample.

You can report them ingame, I often do since I too dislike exploiters. Just pick the botting/cheating option. Close enough. It’s convenient because it adds an automatic screenshot.
I especially hate those teleport-farming bots that teleport from one ressource to the next. They are so fast gone that you often can’t capture them. Does anyone know a trick there?

I get most of them out of plants. So get yourself a few sickles and just rip out any plant you see. They also drop from random mobs, but very rarely. Good luck! =)

I absolutely agree. The Molten Facility added great gameplay and we desperately need new fractals. The fractals are memories anyway, so it would be the logical conclusion to have these events pop up there, since many people were afected. All the core designs are already made, so reduced development time.
Maybe we should tell the designers what we loved most about the dungeon and what we disliked. Gathered together they could use this information to give us the most enjoyable experience =) So please everyone state your preferences in the most constructive manner. The more information, the easier that task would be and the more likely that someone would make it =3

What to keep:
-The Jumping part with the insane dredge. Funny dialogue, interesting mechanics, learn phase for the boss fight. Whoever designed this part was a genious. Do want!
-Rox/Braham. They are the most fun together, but I’d prefer them in separate ways (like the underwater fractal) to keep dialogue holding up players to a minimum. But keep them to let us remember the one time NPC were actually a help.
-The endboss encounter. I think from the enthusiastic responses until now it is pretty clear most people found this boss very well designed and fun. Keep as is. Agony could be added to the second shockwave by the Zerker trying to trick you into jumping. That one was funny. Also please keep the Swan Lake ballet perfomance of the dying bosses

What to loose:
-the drill sequence. I liked this because it was visually so well designed. But it being slow and the missing mining nodes inside fractals will make this part unpopular.
- a ton of trash mobs. The whole dungeon was heavy with pointless trash mobs. Please loose that and keep to the fun parts. A handful for loot is ok, but fractals should be short.
-the free the prisoners sequence. This went forever, especially the first few. If it is too important to the story to loose, take it down to 3 prisoners max.
-escape the facility sequence. I’m torn on this because it was fun. But fractals usually end on the boss and the escape sequence bugged often and has the potential to lock players out of rewards. It’s a can of worms not worth opening.

Sometimes, people buy them mistakenly from the vendor. Either you want to change traits and click your way brain-afk to a D’OH-moment. A more popular thing is though that people want to change traits and do not know the option and are under the impression you need to buy another skillbook (they resetted your points before, so it’s an easy misconception to make) just to find out horrified that they threw out 2G for an unusable item. I think it’s nice that you can sell them, mitigates the damage =)

I understand completely that you can’t login each day. Same here. But wouldn’t a weekly hurt people like us even more? The achievements would have to be balanced that they take more time. Weekend players would then only have two days to finish while others have seven. If they do get that balanced somehow, I would appreciate an additional tier of laurel income. Could backfire on us casuals though ^_~

Right now we have 8ish achievements everyday. We pick 5 to complete and get a laurel. What if every week we had 10 possible achievements tiers. We would pick our 7 favotite and get a laurel for each one we complete (up to 7 max) as you conplete each achievement. This way you are still rewarded one laurel at a time, up to 7 per week, but didn’t have the daily time restraint. Either do a little everyday, or all at once.

I’d even suggest scrapping the monthly and instead, if players complete 7 weekly tiers, they get a bonus 3 laurels, giving 10 for the week. You could still get 40 per month (10 per week x 4 weeks) as the current system (30 dailies + 10 for the monthly.)

Wow, that’s… a really good concept. I could totally see that working. That would be a great improvement over the daylies since you can decide better what to do when.
It would however make monthlies even more easy, but dragged out, timewise. Some people would probably complain that atm finish their monthly in the first or second day.

I agree. I purchased a lot of stuff, and would buy more if it was actually available. Things in the BLC do not count as available to me. I won’t buy RNG items. Sadly, there are people that do like to gamble and throw out a ton of money for useless crap with hopes for something big. As long as these guys bring in money through their gambling addicting, that long the RNGs will stay.
I am already happy for the guaranteed rewards in this games through the tokens. Could you imagine running an hourlong dungeon and only one person would be able to loot with a tiny chance on something good? That would be nasty =)

There is atm a loading bug where the qeued items do not show. Often the items show up again if you stand on another map. For us everything was gone on Gendarran but reappeared in Lions Arch. You are most likely encountering a display issue, the que is still there and running =)

Replay Personal Story?

I agree on the replay but disagree on different choices. For one character, your choices should have impact and that is not much at the moment.
I would love to replay certain story missions just for the fun factor or a second experience of the story. I even wouldn’t want the loot again, since most of it is crappy anyway. But I’d love the option to replay the pirate drinking game every few days. This needs to be an open world minigame.

We only have one TP for all servers. Definitely spans regions. I enjoy reading John Smith’s comments (of which he still does far too few hint hint ^_~) and all the prices he mentions are true also for EU servers. So either there are two TPs that are perfectly balanced in exactly the same way (extremely unlikely) or it is just one large TP, which explains also the nice overall balance. Also you notice late night EU prices shifting when the Americans get online en masse. So definitely one large TP.

It is a convenience and vanity item. Vanity for the animation and convenience as you don’t need to remember buying picks. From the Gold to Gem ratio, you would need to mine a ton of ore to make it profitable, but that was never the intention. I completely agree with Woljnir that it is to uphold the Gold Sink aspect of the picks.
At first I also thought it was overpriced, as I am an altoholic. But after I understood what was the thought process, I bought two for my major alts. From a money making perspective it would have made more sense to price them much lower, as they would have sold many, many more. But as already mentioned, this would have had devastating effects on the market.
Also, the Gem/Gold exchange ratios are player regulated. And the large shifts lately just prove that this market is not yet in balance. It will be in balance once it makes sense to buy Gems to convert to Gold. As of now, few people do that. The Gold to Gem ratio is also still very low, which can be seen in many players changing Gold to Gems but not Gems to Gold, thus making the prices rise. Once sensible exchange ratios have been reached, they will balance into a fluctuating equilibrium as all currencies. Don’t worry, John Smith got our backs ^_~

On the right side of the UI, when you follow your monthly, it shows the complete number. Only in your hero tab you see the tiers.

I was playing the last story with 3 Guildies yesterday who were also at the Zhaitan step. After the dungeon we ported to Fort Trinity and a friend opened her celebration step. She skipped all videos and left right after everything was done. I didn’t mind because I wanted to come back later to watch everything in peace. However, after I was kicked out of the instance (not mine, but hers), I didn’t get the dialogue whether to accept the story progression but just got handed my rewards (outside in the open world) and the story disappeared.
I enjoyed playing my story a lot and now I never got to see the ending. That makes me very sad. Could we please just have the option to replay any story step without rewards just to rewatch the story steps. That would resolve this issue.

Scaling needs a bit of tweaking

Apparently it depends on how far you are from your gear. Here is the explanation how I recall it:
When you are lvlwith gear lvl15 in a lvl20 zone and level up, your lvl gets repressed one level, but you are now 6 lvl above your gear instead of 5, so it gets scaled to lvl14, making you weaker.
That is the only way this phenomenon makes sense.

Scaling needs a bit of tweaking

First of all: I love the idea of downscaling. It opens up the world and makes it more believable. While there is a special kind of satisfaction in revisiting old arch enemies and descending upon them as an angry god, scaling allows for motivation on a long-term basis. It allows you to play with friends of vastly different levels and enjoy lower content that you missed. Some of the most fun and interesting areas in the game are in starting zones, that would be missed otherwise. Never ever would I suggest to abandon it! Whoever came up with the idea: consider yourself hugged =)

However, right now the scaling system needs a little tweaking here and there. I’ll give you my personal opinion on the different parts of scaling. I’d love to hear input from other people and their impressions during leveling.

1. Character level
Allows for maximum of about 2 levels above current enemies. I like it, it keeps combat interesting.

2. gear level
The elephant in the room. Very frustrating at the moment. Gear is downscaled in proportion to you instead of the local max. As an effect, you get weaker with every level that you gain, while downscaled. And pretty noticeable too, as you can end up weaker than characters at the actual level. Not only does that defeat the purpose of leveling, it is weird in the game context. Did the kill that gave me the levelup hit me on the head so that I became dumber? Questions to lvl80 players: Can you actually get negative stats with low enough gear? =D
Easy fix: scale the equip independently to the area level. Meaning: A lvl80 with lvl40 gear in a lvl30 zone should come out as a lvl30 with lvl30 gear, not as practically naked. He still has equip superior in the area, that should count for something. I found it also quite unsettling to watch my char loose 1000 hitpoints on lvlup, I thought I found a bug until I read about the system in the forum.

3. Exp
Doesn’t scale, sadly. When I had finished the whole 1-15 starting zone with about lvl 30, I only had 2 lvls more. I didn’t expect 15, but 2 is a bit weak. 5 would be nice already? Again: some of the most engaging zones are starting areas, but the extremely low output discourages a bit from playing there (Only a bit, feeding baby bears and petting kittens for quests is a reward in itself). Want to try the Asura starter soon with my lvl 50. I don’t expect more than 1 lvl =/

4. waypoints
Scales with lvl…why? That was a bit of a shock to me. I ported around quite often as low lvl, but that gets very expensive very soon. I like the waypoint system much more than mounts. I also like the goldsink aspect. But at the moment I find myself running needlessly for ages through botany because waypoints are so expensive. I’ve heard that before from others, so I guess I can’t be the only one to avoid porting.

5. repair costs
Doesn’t scale down, makes sense. It avoids people going to lower areas to repair as exploit. I understand completely. However, may I humbly suggest downscaling of costs during dungeons? I’m not leaving the dungeon to exploit repair costs. Right now, if I am the highest character in the group, I have the highest repair costs and the highest travel costs. Thanks to gear scaling I am funnily enough often the weakest in the group because I refuse to buy complete sets every 3 levels. It feels a bit unfair, so atm I refuse to go to dungeons while leveling as to not sabotage my guild. Was that intended?

Downscaling should be separate for you and gear. When you are downscaled to the local maximum so should your gear. Looking at the difference makes no sense. When I am 80 running through a lvl30 zone with lvl40 gear. I should be 30 in 30 gear not practically naked, because my gear is still better than what the area originally asked for. It makes no sense!
As it is now, I watch myself getting weaker as I levelup and that can’t be the intended effect.

It even becomes a problem when I get downscaled in dungeons and am almost the weakest in the group with the highest lvl character just because they called me mid-levelling. That was kind of weird.
