Actually reading the OPs full question again; I’d say necro as well. For open world pve play, and mostly solo, necros can be a blast
Thank you for listening to what I asked – truly appreciated. Could you please expand on why a necromancer would be a good fit? The profession is seriously a mystery to me. I didn’t understand it at all, but that sort of intrigues me. I seem to remember a while back a lot of people saying necros were very underwhelming – has that changed?
They are a bit underwhelming in dungeons, but open world/running around they can be great fun…
If you play conditions, they throw out tons, with epidemic it’s just a blast to condi large groups. Use death shroud mainly or torment and survival.
If you would rather play burst/crits, death shrouds life blasts hit hilariously hard, and can be traited to peirce and grant might. This play style also works extremely well for large world tag fests… DS 4 + staff marks + wells means you will be getting lots of tags.
Finally if you ever plan on doing some Spvp, the crit necro is very fun, you can bursts people down very quickly with wells + life blasts. Turn on lich form for some fun crit numbers as well
I’d like a toggle option for them. Some of the auras when stacked looked really ugly.
Kamo-holi katoki + eternity + bolt + quip = super blurry mess. So an option to turn some on and some off would be great. It would also be cool because we would actually be able to see some of the off hand only footprints more often.
Highly doubt A-net will do this… Remember the original flame kissed light armor skin? It basicly made it so that any race could wear Human T3 armor with a little bit of a flame particle. Many people, my self included bought it for that reason. The armor was then changed to it’s current graphic with gem refunds + apology bonus to those that requested it.
^——- the reason I posted the pictures
Armor equipped means absolutely nothing in sPvP, except for the skins. The stats from armor, weapons and trinkets (excluding the sPvP stat amulet) are completely ignored. All your sPvP stats come from your traits, sPvP amulet, sigils and runes.
Are you 100% sure of this?
I’m asking about the defensive number I have circled in red.
I explained this, for decency, you need to have those 3 slots filled, but the stats have no effect beyond ensuring its filled, the gain is streamlined regardless of quality of the armor.
^^; Yea I saw, just wanted to be sure. (my post was being made, befor yours had been posted… I had to take pictures xD)

A life blast?
+1 Yes a LIFE BLAST ^^;

Vod, I never said you did join groups that said speed clear, I never even mentioned speed. I simply said I disagree that dungeoning would be one of the necro’s strong points. I know I’m not alone in this sentiment, necros do have a harder time contributing as much as other classes in dungeons…
TL:DR – Open world running around I would agree with you on, Groups selfish style or not I would not recommend necro over Ele.
If you want a caster that has its place in the meta for all game modes : ele
If you want a caster for jumping puzzles or a difficult but rewarding profession : mesmer
If you want a caster for Open world PvE or random dungeon pugging or WvW : necro
1. Agree
2. Agree
3. Pugging dungeons… as a necro… Not exactly the caster I would recommend xD
The wvw mass kill farming is a totally different issue, really no point in bringing it up here. There are plenty of cases both ways that could be used to argue for either side.
@Bread, it’s someone using an armor set/skin in a game that the main goal is to get set/skins that is not suppose to be available on the live server yet.
Is it a big deal: Nope it isn’t.
Should it be reported/removed: Yes it should.
Yea ~
Actually I should try to make some look alike outfits, almost everyone I see gets the reference on her outfit or not
Am I the only one that sees the irony in the fact you want the game ported to Xbox One but most of your post is about playing on Mac?
Noticed this too! Though a port would be kinda fun, might bring in more players and if it was on the Xbone I would actually have a reason to turn it on :/
Hmm, either way it’s going to be grindy. For now, I’d suggest just grinding out gold and keep whatever mats drop…
There aren’t any time gated materials as far as I know. So just save up, Id work on getting your gifts of mastery and fortune done. Then just wait and see what HoT brings. Maybe something you like more will come out, if not, you will be a good part of the way through crafting it
Serah Farron ^^; I have so many outfits I’ll just post a few.
I’m going to be making a few new ones later looking at LR outfits.
^^; I’ll have to go on and make a costume for Serah. Mine isn’t much of a look alike at the min, I’ll post back as soon as I get an outfit ~
+1
Nice to see some positivity!
Hmm yep I could~
I have an 80 everything and I only really play my mes
Hmm I vote Mesmer ~~ because of reasons and logic (actually I just always suggest mesmer)!
More seriously… If HoT does give guardians longbows that would probably be the best match
In many cases gem items are account bound on purchase. You can’t trade account bound items so for the majority of gem store items, probably not.
I really don’t see how being told you can’t do some content because your profession or gear is not good enough is going to make players happy. A filter that would block people based on their profession and gear, this isn’t a gear check game… Myself and Many players like it that way.
Couldn’t those meta elitist people you are talking about, form a guild or use their contacts list to form their parties? Or simply use the current features built in. Both options have their downsides, but a filter would be an immediate barrier to many. That’s why I just see it doing more harm then good. (especially if you start going to the gear check levels)
If anything, how much mithril and leather you need should be increased to match that of damask. That way it’s fair.
Leather maybe, mithril I might be a little hard pressed to say that, remember mithril is used in weapon/hunstman/artificing/jewlery as well.
It’s not “elitism” – it’s the truth. It’s a common basic truth that is true anywhere in the world. There are people that aren’t good enough. And for the true elite of this game I’m not good enough.
Saying someone is not good enough to play with you is elitism to some extent, and it is definitely leading down the path of exclusive play. I’m not saying it’s evil or wrong, I’m saying it is elitist and exclusive.
Elitism or not the play style you are talking about is still strongly rooted in EXCLUSIVE play. A tool that would be used to further exclusivity in play would not be in the best interest for the majority of players.
What you fail to see is that it’s not about a “join and try”.
An explicit LFG request means the party is not in the business of having people try out for whatever they’re doing. They need a specific player that has a specific class, build and amount of experience so they can go in and succeed.
There’s no “try”. You exclude player B because he does not qualify. He does not meet the posted requirements.
I understand perfectly, it’s not join and try, and your specific explicit LFG request is not a join and try. All I’m saying is that this type of lfg listing and mind set fosters EXCLUSIVE play. Which is something I’m pretty sure A-net has said they try to avoid, so adding a filter like this would not be in the best interest of the community or game direction.
You mean you can’t succeed without specific meta builds in GW2 dungeons? I understand YOU may want to go at a certain speed and that’s fine, however most people can clear a dungeon with or without meta builds/meta classes. Also lets not forget some people who come with the meta build/class/gear may faceplant just as much or more as someone without.
I have nothing against player B but if I need player A on class X using build Z then that’s what I’m going to ask for and what I’m going to keep. The rest will get kicked.
If they want to join a party they should join one where they meet the requirements OR they should make their own.
Forcing me to play with whomever wishes to join my party is not alright and is an infringement on my right to play with whomever I choose.
Now I am one of those “play the class you want” people… However I will agree with this, if the party asks for a ele, if someone joins they should be an ele. Being courteous and respecting how people want to play goes both ways. Play your own way players joining selective players parties with the intent of trolling is unacceptable as well.
No one is forcing you to play with anyone, no one is even suggesting that you HAVE to play with anyone you don’t want.
TL;DL – if it’s my party I have a right to ask for a specific thing and exclude all things that aren’t what I asked for. If people don’t like it they can ignore me and play with whomever else they want.
Right, like I’ve said in nearly every response, that is entirely up to you. However just as you should not be forced to play a certain way, others should not be forced to play that way either.
Harper, No one is saying you don’t have the right to play how you want, and with who you want. However many members of the games community prefer inclusive play (including everyone).
I’m saying : " I’m going to do this content and require 4 more competent and capable people who will meet these standards to join me – join if you qualify"
There’s no agenda here – I have the right to play with whomever I choose. I can pick and choose those people however I want.
That doesn’t make me this evil elitist person – it means I respect myself and my time and require more of those I play with than maybe the average GW2 player.
Lines like “Join if you qualify” or “I respect myself and my time and require more” are the very definition of elitism. You are stating that some players are not good enough or up to your standards so you do not wish to play with them. That’s your choice, however to say it’s not elitism and e mind set that leads to exclusive play would be untrue.
The problem is thinking that these people joining parties and being kicked usually after being told a few bad things is something that’s better than a filter.
The filter would add an extra layer of ease in excluding players for picking a class or play style. Making it easier to exclude people is not something I would want to see in the game.
Then A-net would need to make an entire extra set for heavy armor to be able to use it that way. An extra step vs just putting out the outfit.
Then of course you would also have people saying it was unfair heavy armor would get an outfit + skins for buying it, while light would not… All in all it’s a matter of saving time/headaches to not do something like this.
Hmm I think it was there maybe 3 months ago.. Odds are good it will make a come back for HoTs release or when ever the story of DE 2.0 returns.
shrug Well at least it’s not another outfit thread xD.
As has been said in the countless other “mounts” threads, they wouldn’t serve much purpose here, and some races might look… odd… on mounts. Also the tensions between humans and centaurs might get worse~
There are numerous outfit or armor threads floating around…
One big reason this probably won’t happen; framework is different from heavy to med to light armor. That is also why there is very little chance we will ever see light being able to use heavy etc. This means A-net would have to make 3 versions of the same armor to allow it to be skin able onto the various armor types.
The thing is, I should be able to (and can) exclude people from my group if I so choose.
That’s 100% true. I never said you should not be able to, or that you can’t. The topic is about an LFG tool that increases the likely hood of exclusion of players based on certain criteria.
GW2s dungeon/community/social play is geared towards Inclusion of all players/classes not exclusion. Creating a more welcoming and enjoyable environment, for those that wish to play with their given play style. Due to this, tools that make exclusion and/or elitism easier aren’t usually well received.
Wait so you are’nt sure about the extent of casual vs not due to AP + bling or how to accurately define it, but you would make a filter that would exclude people based on it?
I believe my statement, however I also believe if a filter were added into the game, the main people that would benefit from it are those wishing to exclude others. Would there still be groups that would take necros and rangers?: Of course. Would there be players/groups that would just click the block all ranger/necros?: Of course. How ever a filter like this would make the current experience for players WORSE not better, that is why I am strongly against it.
This tool would open up avenues for dungeon runners wishing to exclude certain classes. This tool would CLOSE potential avenues for dungeon runners wishing to play certain classes. I agree 100% that people who wish to exclude and filter players based on their class, ap, and even GEAR (this is where exclusive play like this leads) would certainly find interest in using it.
How does this benefit one of the classes that is less welcome in dungeons? Would this tool make finding a group for ALL players easier or would it make excluding certain players based on certain criteria easier?
(edited by Miku.6297)
I’d rather have an 11k Ele than a 2k Ele even though we all understand it’s not a foolproof measure.
And when i say ‘shopping list’, i mean a very long and nuanced lfg post.
Things like that are a perfect example of what starts exclusivity. You would rather have player A join your party then player B. As it stands either player can join and try (unless your party just vote kicks), with your filter idea, you remove the ability of player B to join: that’s exclusion.
As it stands some people do make “shopping list” lfg listings, they are NOT the majority. There are many reasons the majority of listings aren’t like this, and many players in runs that are titled with long requirments don’t always hold people to them. Often allowing others to join. So as it stands now, classes that would most likely be excluded by a simple click can currently join. By adding a little check box you can click to exclude anyone playing a certain class you remove that chance, making it 100% certain no one from that class can join.
As I’ve said from the start, a preferred class check box that shows which classes would be preferred might be OK, a filter that’s main function is to exclude others, No TY
(edited by Miku.6297)
This tool WOULD alter the way some groups would be formed, a tool that’s main use is exclusion of certain classes or players simply does not belong here. Most of the “shopping list” lists I see say “No ranger/necro” “80 Zerk” “exp only”.. Lately I have been seeing some of the “xKap+”. I just went in game and took a look.
You state that the game has a large casual culture. If that’s the case then there is no need for a tool that promotes exclusion and elitism in team comp. The only people who would have use for this would be the people looking to exclude others based on class/gear/ap. I’m not seeing how that benefits the majority of people.
If you truely feel exhausted when you start from simply editing an lfg than maybe you should look for friends/guidlies rather then pugs.
This tool will not alter class perceptions. It will not change the many people who are currently happy to party with anyone. But it will help those looking to create specific compostitons. And that is fine.
No one is saying it will alter class perceptions, people are saying it will make it easier for those that wish to force their personal class perception and opinions on others to do so. So you do not believe it will effect those that are happy to party with anyone, it will help those that wish to exclude others based on class perception; that is EXCLUSIVITY something GW2 tries to avoid.
And if it had an AP filter too so no one who joined ever had to be kicked Before starting the run, that would be perfect.
Because AP is really a good gauge of how much dungeon/fotm experience someone has… Seriously you could easily have over 15k AP and never do any dungeons, while another player may have 2k or less and have done every dungeon many times. AP is a terrible way to gauge someones dungeon experience.
Sounds like the heart in Wayfarer foot hills… Turns you into a leapord and you must scare animals out or hunt them. I will agree, it’s not my favorite.
Some maps are fun to explore and complete, others are tedious and time consuming. Actually for the most part, I’m really not a fan of the hearts. I much prefer the open events and exploration parts of the open world.
Did you buy these games and other codes using a gift card or with your credit card?
I think I found how this is working.
“SALES TAX -Texas –
Store Gift Cards and Gift Certificates
No sales tax is due on the sale of a gift card. The actual sale of gift cards is not subject to Texas sales, use or mixed beverage taxes since the card represents an intangible – the “right” to a future purchase. Instead, tax is calculated when a card is redeemed.
When the gift card is redeemed for merchandise either by the original purchaser or another who may have received the card as a gift, the gift card is treated like cash given for the purchase of the item. If the item purchased is taxable, sales tax is due on the full sales price including any amount paid with the use of the gift card."
Buying a gem card, is being treated as a “gift card”. That’s the only posable reason I can see. The “gift card” would be exempt from tax in store, then when redeemed it’s worth 800 gems(sorry never bought cards so Im not sure about the exact gem amount). So A-net gives the claimer 800gems, there is no further cash transaction so no tax. When buying them online from A-net directly you are not buying a “gift card” so you are being charged tax. Yes it’s kind of a loophole as a gem cards value is not the same as a gift card, but as I said that’s the only way I can see this happening.
I’m confused what do you mean a “gem tax”?
There’s not a tax for cash transactions with A-net from my experience… 50$ purchase from the black lion = 50$ gem cash card.
If its a state tax, thats not A-net :P
Do you mean when you buy gems with gold? If so, I really don’t think in game gold tax vs RL money tax is a good comparison.
Buying gems with US dollars.
I have never paid tax on a gem card purchase.
But Anet stopped selling gem cards in Houston Texas at Targets and Gamestops, once they stopped selling cards at these retailers I had to start buying them through bltc with a credit card and now a $20 gem puchase cost $21.80
Other game or gift card purchases … in store or online does not charge me tax.
Only Gw2In Houston they shoud have charged you sales tax 8.25% in store at gamestop and target. Unless Houston has some sort of tax exemption on these type of cards each county/state have different tax laws on different items. Paying taxes is how life works or would you rather live in 3rd world conditons?
http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/texas-internet-sales-tax.html
If you are selling goods or products online and some of your customers are located in Texas, you need to be aware of the state’s Internet sales tax rules.
This is what has me confused too… I wasn’t aware gamestop/target would be exempt from paying the sales tax in TX. I’m confused as to why hes being charged a state sales tax for an online purchase, but doesn’t pay them in a brick n mortar store xD…

Nobody else has the stones to say it? Fine, here you go: My guess is that every second person in here advocating class equality would absolutely love this feature and would use it to avoid rangers and necros. I know I would.
Wow, I’m advocating class equality: I would not love this feature, and would not use it to avoid anyone.
So I guess your guess is wrong xD
When ever I run dungeons I run with who ever wants to go, as long as they are at the recommended level for the dungeon. Is it easier with some team compositions?; of course. However player ability/knowledge does play a factor in how easy or fast a run goes.
Over heard in an ANet Marketing Team meeting: ""Supply"..and what did you say? “Demand”?? What is this concept you speak of??? What do you mean, “8 plus 4 doesn’t equal 20”?!? YOU’RE FIRED!!!"
But supply and demand is the exact thing A-net is using… By creating a limited time supply they increase the “demand” for when it’s available. More impulse/might want it buys that way, it’s also a bit harder to farm gold to buy gems if there is a limited window of availability.
And it’s the weekly “stop making outfits” thread.
^—— Isn’t it more a daily thing?
Kelly, the most logical reason is… It’s far easier to make 1 outfit and release that to everyone than make 3 sets of armor. Keep in mind the lite/med/heavy framework is very different, so it would take more time/resources to make each set, that is assuming A-net wouldn’t release just a heavy armor skin… For example, the upcoming countess Anisse(sp) outfit; if it was lite armor only, how many heavy/med users would be unhappy?
Whats the ultimate difference, how is it better? You are writing a detailed lfg that people may or may not read and then having to continually kick people. That is more of a hassle. Why would you prefer that experience?
Other players are not benefitting from joining and then being kicked (your method) as opposed to not being able to join in the first place.
The main difference is in the appearance and face of the community/game. Seeing a bunch of listings looking for people that ANYONE can join, vs seeing a bunch of listings that you can only join if you are x class. Which of these two options seems more inclusive; which seems more exclusive.
The fact that other players are not benefiting from joining and being kicked is true. Though if they couldn’t join in the first place they wouldn’t benefit much from that either. Over all it’s an inclusive vs exclusive lfg system arguement; which is why i don’t forsee a filter coming any time soon.
You don’t need specific classes for specific content though unless your talking about special tournament pvp setups. :o
As someone who believes firmly in mesmer supremacy I strongly disagree with this~ (J/k of course)
Kedarrian to answer your points..
1. It is a valid arguement that people WILL seek to use this tool as many have stated. A large majority of the players would do this do NOT post on the forums. So no we are not indeed the “other” players we are reffering to players that would seek to use a tool like this to exclude players.
2. You currently do have control over your lfg session… if you want said classes join like minded players and request people bring the classes you are looking for, if they don’t you have the vote kick option.
You didn’t really address people joining your group and instantly switching classes.
As I stated I wouldnt be against a prefered class filter. I just don’t think having a filter designed to exclude classes is in the best interest of the community or game.
I love the idea of it, being able to where what ever we like would be very cool. With outfits the class recognition from graphic is prety much gone.
The only problem is…. I think the models/skins would take a bit to much work to mix light with heavy etc. Frames for each were never intended to go together so it would be alot of extra work to add this
Its not exactly out of malice since skins were said across your account (Main ? beta). Of course players would try to do the reverse. I’m sure Anet appreciates the bug being exposed as well since it could have been worse down the line.
Is it really a big deal that they can wear the skin early except that you don’t have it? And if you then have it then what? You look exactly like the next guy. The skin gives the player a whopping 0% advantage over everyone else. 0.
It’s not out of malice, but it’s hard to want to give the guy the benefit of a doubt if he was just testing it or not when he responds to being asked about it the way he does…
“I have this armor because i’m the best”. -
I wouldn’t wear it any way. However someone shouldn’t knowingly take advantage of a bug to get access to something, no matter how large or small it is.
In a game where the endgame is grinding for that next cosmetic look, skins are a big deal, it’s not like you need to grind for stats.
There has been a ton of inspect function, and “armory” feature posts in general allready. All of them end up with a similar response… “Not wanted here”
The idea of being able to see when someone added you and wants to be a friend is cool. The rest of it is just another form of gear inspect/armory which I’m hoping stays FAR FAR away from GW2.
A would be a huge quality of life improvement, but would definitely hurt the market… Getting unlimited uses of the rune for every armor set you have or ever get would be a QoL improvement, mainly because you wouldn’t ever need to buy the rune for that char again…
Most people have 2 good sigils on a weapon and 1 good rune set. Making more options viable without loosing the first one would make the demand go up. As they can buy more rune/sigils sets even if it is for only 1 time. Its better then not buying at all because of the steep changing price.
Many still wouldn’t buy, do to it not being the “meta” Those that do buy to try different things would no longer need to re-bu them thus removing their demand from the market. As it stands now either option is purely speculation on what players would do.
For what it’s worth I would love being able to switch my runes/sigils on the fly. I just think it would negativly impact the value of some runes/sigils.
