I like the setting of that Fractal, but from a gameplay perspective I don’t like it too much any more It’s pretty long compared to other Fractals, and there’s not that much loot. (yes, I love picking up lots of shiny stuffs)
You know your class is in danger when the community doesn’t even bother trying to convince the devs to bring the class’s other weapons up to par anymore, but feel it’s more needing to defend the last the decent weapon set they still have from becoming the next useless thing.
I haven’t even bothered changing my build.
I keep Evasive Arcana, just because I like how it looks (I guess that’s the point of traiting into grandmasters). When I dodge in Earth I like how stuff goes “boom”. The damage it does? I don’t even know, I think the number is too small to even appear on my screen. Even tickling the opponent would be a more effective way to deal DPS.
Whenever I don’t go AFK or ALT+TAB out of the game when using staff I still roll into combo-fields just to watch the pretty flame animation.
Then can we also remove WvWvW from monthly, because I don’t really like that part of the game.
And maybe remove holiday events from the monthly, because my friend prefers to keep on farming dungeons instead of participating in silly events. It’s not fair that he’d be forced to do something he doesn’t like, right?
And while we’re at it my friend on holiday is gone for a month, so maybe we could remove the monthly, so he doesn’t miss out on it?
If they add Lupicus to Fractals: Great.
If Simin were to be added to Fractals: Ragequit and never get back there.
I dunno why people would do that, but the commander icon is really annoying and useless in PvE. It only clutters up the already crowded mini-map. Wish I could turn it off, and have it only show up in WvWvW.
It was pretty popular before Fractals came out, but since the new dungeon I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen people LFG’ing for CoE. It’s kinda sad.=P
Except that fight is super easy without pulling him, just fight him at the back of the thing and AoE. I have yet to understand why people pull him away, the dredge that spawn aren’t silver ring mobs. They are normal mobs that die in 5 seconds.
It’s not that the mobs are hard, but that they make it so hard to see the boss animation when he charges his attacks.
But no, I don’t see pulling a mob from his location is an exploit. Going through the wall as a shortcut, however, is an exploit.
I find anything from 20-50 minutes to be fine for a dungeon run. Any longer than that and the dungeon better be fun, be interesting, or has worthy loot.
I haven’t fought him too often lately, but only a few times he did seem to reset completely random. Like when me and another person were still hitting it from a distance he teleported then reset out of nowhere.
You can get the skill point while it’s contested. I did on my Guardian by killing off a few mobs, then placed a Wall of Reflection in front of the skillpoint that reflected off all the attacks coming at me long enough for me to get the skill point. I dunno your profession, but you might be able to do something similar.
you can get another shot by using an alt..
I don’t think you can do multiple dailies using alts on same factor.
You can, I have 2 characters at difficulty 20’s. I can go do daily on one of them, then do it again on the other (both in the same factor).
Voice acting is a hit n miss, all over the place. Sometimes it’s amazingly good, while other times it’s atrociously bad.
Looking forward to the improved rewards on harder dungeons. I do like the “blanket fix”, it was much needed, but it made a short and easy dungeon like Ascalonian Catacombs or Citadel of Flames way too rewarding in comparison to many other dungeons.
I do hope these new rewards don’t just mean more cash, but maybe focus more on handing out more high level crafting materials, cores/lodestones and a higher chance for looting rares/exotics.
why can’t they just have this in game? GW1 had something almost exactly like this
I just don’t understand why it isn’t in yet
An ingame version of that LFP tool would be perfect.
Earlier my party beat a Fractal dungeon and voted no (apparantly missclicks) after the boss was killed, which got us stuck with no way to continue progress. The only option was to reset the whole thing and start over again.
Man I hate that auto-run when I want to pick up a crystal.
I remember being in some noob party that wanted to do a speedrun (before the upgraded loot). We would skip everything, including the spider and the gravelings on the traps. Even after I de-activated the traps, there were still 2 people continuously dying on that group of gravelings, it was insane. And every time they had to run back from the starter waypoint. I bet we could’ve killed everything in the time they finally made it through alive.
The worst thing is the massive amount of Fear spam. It’s not fun, it’s not hard. It’s plain annoying and frustrating.
So you expect everything to be in place at a games release. The game isn’t even 6 months old yet. Honestly people have to learn to be patient. This will be an added feature. It’s not however high on the priority list. I rather see bugs and glitches fixed first before this is added in.
If things aren’t in place yet, then why are they releasing new content? And this doesn’t have anything to do with “not being in place yet” as it’s addressing the core issue I, and many other players have with Fractals. It’s not some small bug like the teleporting grawl or the auto-run thing in Jade Maw.
And thanks for the replies. I shouldn’t have to, but I’ll give that site a go, and see if that’ll help speed it up a bit.
I leave the group if they can’t be bothered killing him.
Just sounds another person who isn’t proactive to make a group or use the lfg site.
And what’s proactive? I’ve reached my “suppression” limit more often than you want to know. And why should I go to a random site to even find a party for a dungeon? That doesn’t even make sense.
After writing all this still haven’t found a party, so I might as well go to sleep now, after having wasted over an hour doing nothing, but LFP’ing and writing this thing.
-sigh-
Trying to make “progress” in Fractals dungeons, yet I spend more time standing in Lion’s Arch searching for people to join on the same difficulty scaling as me than actually playing the dungeon.
Whoever decided on this difficulty scaling should be fired and not ever get involved in game design ever again. Guild Wars 2 was originally designed around the promise of removing the holy trinity (they did succeed at this), with one of the main goals being to have players spend more time playing the game, and less time looking for other players to start playing the game (they were somewhat successful at this, but since new dungeon came out not any more).
It’s astonishing how wrong this whole thing was designed. Did ArenaNet ever think beyond day 1 and 2 after dungeon release? Did they honestly think it would be dead easy to find a party for these difficulty scalings with people being spread out over (currently) 30 or so different difficulty scalings? People were already complaining about regular dungeons being hard to find parties for, and those only have 2 different playing levels (story + explorable).
Did they learn from this mistake? Nope.
Or actually, yes, they somewhat did. What did they do with it? Make people go back to lower difficulties for an RNG drop required to “progress” further.
Does this fix the problem at all? Nope.
Because the RNG drop only comes from the daily chest. And the daily chest only comes from even difficulty scalings, while the odd difficulty scalings are left out.
I don’t even know where to start with this, but there are so many ways to have handled this in better ways. Since I got time to waste anyway as I’m currently looking for a party for one of these Fractals that no one else currently wants to play I might as well kill some time by writing this thing (that’ll get ignored by devs anyway).
Why the need for so many difficulty scalings?
I will never know why, and it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that it creates problems:
-Splits up player base interested in doing the dungeon in way too many pieces.
-Results in hard to find people to play the right difficulty scaling with.
-Results in lots and lots of spam.
-Results in bored and frustrated people (makes me want to log off and go do something more fun and meaningful with my time than standing in LA spamming LFP)
What was ArenaNet on?
No one will ever know. But what I know is what’s wrong:
-No reward for going back to lower difficulties.
-Results in people not wanting to play lower difficulties again.
-Daily chest only from even difficulties.
-The good thing is that it actually gives some people reason to go back to lower difficulties.
-The bad thing is that the only reason that they do is because they got unlucky with RNG.
-And that odd difficulties are still not played by anyone, except once for making “progress”, making it hard to find parties for.
-The more the playerbase “progresses” through Fractals the more split up the playerbase becomes.
-Results in even harder to find parties.
What could have been done?
Things that could have been done to prevent this disastrous piece of game design… and no, I’m not even going to start about Agony and Infusion, that deserves a thread on its own:
-Decrease the amount of difficulties by x10.
-And remove the unlocks and let people play on any difficulty they want to.
-Or have a daily chest appear on every difficulty instead of only on even difficulties.
-And let people play the highest difficulty the party has unlocked instead of the lowest.
-Or offer additional rewards for playing on lower difficulties.
-Add Heroes.

What needs to happen if RNG is to stay is for a player’s chances to increase each time they don’t receive a ring. Like have the chance for a ring increase by +10% every time one doesn’t drop, and have the drop rate reset when a ring is found.
Although the best solution would be to just completely remove the RNG system…
Because people have different playstyles.
-Some like to skip all mobs, while others like to kill everything on their path.
-Some like to skip events, while others go out of their way to do them.
-Some like to skip vistas, while others watch the whole thing every time.
-Some don’t bother gathering materials, while others harvest everything they see on the map.
Chances are you won’t team up with someone with a similar style to zone completion as you do, thus you feel chained and slowed down by the other. Or in case of the one who likes to see and do everything you will feel like you’re wasting the time of the other.
Also communicating in this game isn’t that easy, because you’re constantly on the move or fighting stuff. It isn’t comfortable to have long and decent conversations while exploring, unless you really want to take your time doing so. But then you run the risk of the other having to log off in the middle of a zone, and you’ll be left waiting to finish.
Two days ago I got a random party invite from a lower level while I was exploring a mid level zone on my level 80. We never talked, but we played together through the zone. Sometimes he went another way to do some event, while I farmed ores and logs, and we’d meet up again at the next waypoint. That was a quite nice way of playing together actually, unfortunately that’s just a 1 in a million occurrence.

My winamp is working fine on creating playlists for GW2, the only issue I found out is with tracks not playing in random order for BossBattle. Anyone know of a fix o this? I don’t want to hear music in the same order for every boss I fight.
Nope, I don’t have my boss music set to random. If it won’t randomise then it might be bugged.
General gaming background
Grew up with old school Sega. Also played some of the old school DOS games. Later had a Gamecube with my favourite game being Super Smash Bros. Melee. Nowadays I like games like Orcs Must Die! and Minecraft, although I don’t play so much anymore.
My online gaming background:
Played RuneScape for several years after my friend invited me to it. Played Guild Wars 1 for a few years after another friend invited me to it. Tried out a few other random MMO’s, but couldn’t get into any others. Tried SWTOR final beta and thought it sucked badly.
Thoughts on Guild Wars 2
I love Guild Wars 2, but it’s going into the wrong direction. I’ll quit if it keeps getting worse. I did quit RuneScape after years of playing once they went into directions I didn’t agree with, I’ll do the same with GW2.

6 vials and 3 globs in 100 Fractals with 0% Magic Find.
I want Valkyrie and Cleric rings.=/
Dungeons should give less coin but more useful / valuable items. Raw coin only increases inflation rate.
I’d rather have things like high crafting materials drops, more rares / exotics and more generously cores / lodestones.
Then post these wrong design decisions so that they may be discussed if it’s not being done in another thread.
That way maybe we will find the right way to turn things around?
We’re all human after all,no one is immune to falter.
Difficulty scaling splits up people interested in doing the dungeon into many groups: Makes it hard to form teams, usually takes a long time searching for people to join. Makes it unrewarding doing lower level difficulties. Massive LFP spam in Lion’s Arch.
Agony is hardly a skill-based mechanic. It’s described as a condition, yet it cannot be removed. The best way to survive agony is by getting new gear, effectively outdating current exotic gear. The new gear is either hella expensive, or reliant on a random drop system. These are requirements to progress through the difficulty scaling in the higher levels. Being forced to grind through low and easy difficulties before getting to the more difficult stuff.
Fractals having statistically better rewards than any of the other dungeons. Makes it harder to find parties for other dungeons now, because of less reasons to go there anymore.
People not getting auto-ressed when a dungeon boss is defeated can possibly result in griefing: People not willing to res teammates, especially a bad thing at the end of the 3rd dungeon. Final attack of Jade Maw is a free-for-all instead of a team effort: Rewards players for selfish gameplay, rather than teamwork.
I could probably come up with more, but these are the major ones.
They are hard in a combination of the following things:
-You and your team don’t know the dungeon.
-You and your team are unskilled at the game.
-You and your team are severely undergeared.
-You and your team are severely underleveled.
-Your team is unwilling to communicate.
I wouldn’t mind a closer waypoint if they shut the door to him while he’s in combat.
There’s so many wrong design decisions with the Fractals it’s not even funny. It’s a shame, because the actual content is quite nice and fun to play.
Just did my 3rd daily (2nd on this character, did my 1st daily on another character), and just got my 1st ring.
Today got 2 of my characters to level 10 in Fractals, neither received a ring from the daily chest. Will post again tomorrow with results when I do dailies again.
I’ve only just started at 10+, having done 2 dailies, and no ring drops. Some other guys in my party did get rings, though.
Main reasons why I kind of stopped doing Arah, even though I like the dungeon a lot:
-Constant reports of bugged paths (like path 1 being bugged at the end), I don’t feel like risking a few hours on nothing.
-The gate is or was constantly closed. I have better things to do than wait for a gate to open.
-It generally takes a fair amount of time to complete. It means I often go to some other dungeon instead if I don’t have the time, or am not sure if I’ll have enough time to finish it.
-PUGs breaking Giganticus Lupicus fight by luring him to the waypoint is beyond lame-sauce. Giganticus is one of the main reasons to go to Arah, breaking his fight takes away the enjoyment I’m looking for.
-The loot sucks, and I’m not interested in any of the Arah dungeon gear anyway. And by sucks I mean I’m better off doing Ascalonian Catacombs all 3 paths in less time than it takes to run 1 path in Arah, which makes me a ton more cash + loots.
-Simin. Do I need to say more?

Dear Gamers,
So please, I beg the gamer community, do NOT ruin my experience of this game by trying to make everyone believe that this game sucks, or is flawed, hopeless, or whatever! If you don’t like it, like someone else said, go that way ->
Leave this community pure, and without so much hatred, anger, or whatever disappointment you may feel. It’s a game, a free one at that aside from the initial purchase price. Let me enjoy my game, and have a nice day.
Dear Forum Reader,
So please, I beg you forum reader, do NOT ruin my experience of this forum by trying to make everyone believe that these complaints mean nothing, or are pointless, a waste of time, or whatever! If you don’t like it, like someone else said, go that way ->

No.
Since they went against original promises I would not recommend this game to people anymore, unless I know they don’t mind a grindy game.
Most dungeon runs don’t even take up 1 hour. You can run Ascalonian Catacombs in less than 30 minutes even. Don’t tell me you can’t spare 30 minutes for 5 times a day in 1 month.
Or if you want an even faster run, go do Citadel of Flames in 15-20 minutes.
I had my first vial on my 2nd Fractal or so. And had recently drop another one (30th or so).
They’re too busy outdating exotics and and coming up with new pointless gear checks to fix major content bugs reported weeks and months ago.
I want to see how you deal with Fractals 20+ difficulty .. gonna also cry about making it easier?
No need to. Just grind Ascended gear to win in Fractals.
As always with PUGs: sometimes you get good ones, sometimes bad ones.
It shouldn’t even be in the game anyway.
What? There was a monthly achievement for doing dungeons?
…
Oh yeah, I completed that one on the first day of the month… (in a PUG)
