as far as i can recall, it might be because you can make a different rune with either doubloon.

i prefer pve because npcs dont whine if i dont play with them, or accuse me of hacking if i do.

it all depends how they rig the mesh.

the clips/glitches are just a matter of wrong mesh size and/or bad rigging.

just a case of bad quality control.

the only hard to get to poi in LA is the one under the ship on the crag,
you can get to it via the whispers being chosen in your story or by swimming
through the sewers (down through a cracked grate).

you can still use the book as a skin for whatever back armour you have, just need a transmutation stone, and you get the new stats with the old skin (the light it sheds is handy at night and in dark places).

according to the wiki:

“The 6th bonus for the superior rune set (+7% movement speed while using swiftness), is currently bugged and does not function. "

meaning that 40% swiftness does not exist still.

so, regardless of signets, traits or boons, 33% is the cap.

this answers what i already suspected,
even fully traited, my ele is slower overall than my thief with the 25% speed buff from Signet of Shadows.

yes, i keep saving gold to buy cultural norn gear and the clipping/glitching isssues totally ruin what should be a “wonderful purchase” moment.

thus making me not want to save more gold to buy the next clipping/glitching gear.

the gear has not been verified with all body types, this is shoddy work.

if it was a moddable game such as skyrim, i would fix the mesh and/or rigging,
but as it stands, i must wait for someone to pull their finger out.

i have a character for each class and play each one depending on my mood,
of all of them, only my warrior, thief and elementalist are over level 40.

my elementalist is fun to play, but was squishy until i started to switch attunement depending on the situation, keeping to a single element will get you killed.

try focusing on using a staff and switching attunement lots, summoning an elemental helps buffer you slightly, keep your distance from all foes, keep dodging and moving.

also, the traited air speed buffs will save your life.

the trait system reminds me of the skill tree used in AoC,
but without the colourful icons and the tree…
it seems to still be a WIP.
hopefully it will function better in the future.

i have an air attuned/traited ele and a thief with the “speedy” sigil,

the ele should be faster than the thief’s “25% increase/swift on dodge”

but in practise the thief is faster,

the ele speed bonuses are not adding up somewhere…

-the roughest thinnest shape
-the smallest height
-a green and brown skin
-the asymetrical face
-the leafy branch hairdo
-play her naked until you can afford cultural armour

i have done the 12 page-2 book hunt a total of 8 times now,
7 were for all my alts and the 8th time i guided some stranger from LA.
my 7 characters are levels 13-47.
once you know the route, it is just a matter of dodging at the right time, running the right way and ticking off waypoints in case of failure.
using speed buffs will make it a lot easier, even the 10% faster sigils will do.

using the 1 attack as a rangefinder is the best workaround.

i have more issues with elementalists being attuned to lightning not being able to target a catapult (or similar breakable object)
but switching to fire attunement without moving works.

i saw an afro-haired, dark skinned human named “Kneegroww” (might have missed some e’s and w’s there, he had a few) stood next to the Mystic Forge in LA for ages,

i had this issue with my lvl 13 necro,
i asked in mapchat if my alt could do it instead and someone said i could,
i couldnt…the book is sent to the character that completes it, not to your account as a whole, and then it binds on acquire.
so i hung around the crypt until a crowd of helpful people came along …

i agree with you about the spirits, 20% chance of them being helpful doesnt inspire their use, a real shame.

i found the highest utility tier for ranger to be the least worthy of any class,
the elites (if you are a sylvari ranger, the cultural skills make you a “turret ranger”, which is a nice playstyle) make up for it a little but still, i have found that i dont want or need any of the tier 3 utility skills other than Signet of the Wild.

edit: i also use consumable turret spawners which are cheap and handy.

i saw a quote that implied that people were “feeding” the horns to the Mystic Forge and so they have had to pull them and update around it (does not take a genius to realise people would do this if it was possible, and yes, Anet didn’t think to prevent it :p).

What surprised me most of all, is how bad the chest drops are without the skins.

I mean i heard they were bad, but the only thing i got of use was the fine tranforming stones and i could have gotten the same amount for less than half the gem cost i spent on keys!. I can only agree about the “normal” BLC drops,

Can people stop telling Anet to use GMT? Its a game made by a NA developer, operating out of the west coast in Pacific time, and will use pacific time. Why should Americans have to figure out what GMT equals in their time zone?

Why should the rest of the world have to figure out PDT? GMT is the international standard, not PDT. The international standard doesn’t change based on “where you operate”.

Neither can I use “Frostbite”, “Frost Biter” or “Frostbiter”.

This restriction caused some vampires from GW to have their monster text censored,

I am American and I haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about. Besides there’s plenty of hunter pets and probably mobs that have “bite” as one of their attacks.

This reminds me of a game I remember someone complaining about before that was overzealous in censoring of monsters’ names (and it was single player too). Some examples he gave were that he couldn’t name his tree “Woody” or his ghost “Boo Berry”

Now I can understand names disallowing words widely accepted as cuss words and other words widely accepted as offensive (such as words associated with unwilling sexual acts), but to try and get every word that someone somewhere might find offensive is just ludicrous and counter-productive.

i also wanted to quote Shroom Mage’s excellent found example of the bizarre naming convention/filter,
highlighting this fault was the entire point of me starting this thread.

as i said in my edited original post,
i have tested and proven that names containing the word “a*s*s” were allowed
but names containing the word “bite” were not.

disallowing the name “arbiter” is exactly why Anet need to correct this naming restriction.

it is bizarre.

i would also like to read of any other normal words that are restricted when included in names.

please post some here.

thanks for highlighting the ludicrous naming convention surrounding the word “bite” and it’s derivatives,
as this thread was intended.

the flip side, as you say, is that other far more offensive words are allowed
(being in australia for a while once, i am aware of the example you give)
thus making the censorship both random and biased.
