Stop beating around the bush.
The items were op, and they were not meant to be spammed in combat like that.
The faster people admit it the faster you’ll move along.I got zero problem with Anet saying so & making a change. Spouting bs to a paying customer is a different story. The faster they admit it the faster everybody will move along.
If people would stop kittening about every single good change they make because they had to nerf something in the process then I would expect ANet to treat us players with better respect.
The thing is you (and by you I mean a lot of people on the forums) as a paying customer (a kittenty one for that matter) for some reason expect to be able to trash talk the devs every time you (again, by you I mean a lot of players) don’t like something. Honestly if I were them I’d file out bans in bulks. Remember it’s a mmo and you are paying for their services, you don’t own anything in this game, and they can choose to terminate their services at any time.
I have never done “Teq”, PvP, WvW, or any Dungeon in this game.
I just like to meander through open-world-pve and level up my nine characters slowly.
I use the consumables to aid my solo play but only where they fit in with the character i am currently playing.
My elementalist specialises in fire magic summoning and i like to use both fire elementals all the time, having a third through the use of a consumable was like christmas for me ( i have a fire imp mini and they share the same animations, all 4 flying summoned fire creatures flapping flames around her).
Why is my casual play nerfed because of something happening somewhere else?
How is this a “good change” for me?
Since the first Karka “event” i stopped being excited by the concept of an update.
This “living story” update is yet another i shant bother with.
The out-of-the-blue consumable nerf is what it will be remembered for.
I have adjusted my setting so that everyone else apart from my toon appear as faceless grey pvpers, all i see is their back-item and/or weapons, ranger pets and minions and minis. Once they are about 900 ( game range terms ) away from me, i just see bobbing nametags.
Anyone who is transformed will be seen normally and anything from a summoning item.
All they need do is correct that and i wont see them beyond 900 either.
In a zerg, i can stand 1000 away and just see a mass of names and effects on the mobs.
The embers may have caused some lag but was the solution really adding a 30min timer?!
Well what other solution could they have provided? They could have reskinned the ember to have less graphical movement, they could have retraited its skills to be less graphical and calculation-intensive…or they could have done the quick and reasonable fix of putting a timer so people wouldn’t spam them.
They could also just add a tickbox to the Graphics Options to cull them, just like we have the ability to do with ranger pets and minions and other players.
This should have had a client-side fix, it’s performance is (in this case) a client-side issue.

Warrior Tester One: Woah, where’s Teq? All i can see is an island full of pets…
Warrior Tester Two: Let’s Nerf That Poop! Heh…
Genius At Work
guess who went shopping for hundreds of whistles and powders on 3 toons today?
sadface.
i can tolerate small nerfs…you could have given a 30 seconds to 5 minutes cooldown and it would still chafe but i could handle it, but 30 minutes? heavy-handed-nonsense.

They are currently too dominant in WvW. Please reduce their damage reduction rate by 10% to get them in line with the other stat types.
Hahaha…
I see what you did there.
Grow Up.
They do need an adjustment, they are the dominant meta in two out of three pillars of the game and are viable in the rest of it.
If you are going to nerf full glass zerk because it is seen as dominant in a niche subset of pve (high end speed running), then it is utterly hypocritical to suggest the current condi/bunker and lolPVT facetank meta is completely fine.
Telling someone to “grow up” doesn’t exactly counter that fact.
nice stalking :o
So, the club membership so far is Azure Prower, Gallows and You.
are you in the same guild/server/country/town?
You are all obviously spitting nails over the “zerker-nerf”.
Now we are getting spiteful revenge threads.
I thought i took my games seriously, but you lot are taking the mick.
Stalking? I have no idea who you are and I have replied to a grand total of something like two of your posts, including the one above. Wowser.
You will note I pointed out some of the reasons why there may indeed be an issue with the condi/bunker meta. You will note that your rebuttals thus far have simply been to try and attack the posters offering said viewpoint as opposed to debate the points raised instead.
Other posters have managed to at least attempt to offer reasons as to why the condi/bunker meta isn’t an issue, you spouting what is tantamount to “omg you are all angry lolzerkers” doesn’t give you much credibility.
touche.
I must admit, i dont do PvP, WvW, GvG(hi zoid),JPs,Legendarys,Ascendants or even Map completions.
I do the Queensdale Train and i like to play dress-up with my dolls/toons/characters.
Aside from that i like to frequent this forum and chime in.
Feel free to igore me if you wish, i am just a vocal minority.
The same amount I have spent in the cash shop…nothing. It’s called the ‘Mystic Toilet’ for a reason. You’ve just gotten lucky.
Mystic forge loves me I guess, I have only been playing for 56 days with 845 hours of gameplay, so maybe once I have 200 or so days my luck will be the same as most o.o…
Jesus. That’s 15 hours a day.
Woah…srs bsns
ive played on and off since beta weekends and i only have 500ish hours (oh and what’s a precursor?)
Is it possible to gear all 64 in different exotic armors?
are there even that many? i think you might have to mix and match by that point.

I found a reference that the max is 64. Takes a serious altoholic to hit that cap.
reference: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Character_Slot_Expansion
I’m super srs.
how many do you have already?
by my calculations, you only need 40 to have all the races with all professions, so i wonder what you would do with the other 24.
Only 16 now. I mainly create them for RP
I like stories. Lol
sorry i edited whilst you typed that :p

so far the only professions that have tempted me twice are ranger and engineer (and i dont have a mes).

all rare and above it asks if you are sure you want to delete.
yes, 100% true.
OP, you had a pop-up and you clicked Okay anyway.
Zero sympathy.
Thank you for your sympathy lol… I had just done golem, fire ele, and maw. I was salvaging all of the rares that I got from them. I didn’t even realise it was in my bags until it was too late.
Leaf of Kudzu isnt a rare, it’s an exotic.
I never salvage anything orange until i look at it and check how much it’s worth on the tp. I recommend you do similar in future.

lol, did you just take the reverse argument of your intitial post just to correct me?
email them, there is no link.
they expect you to email them etc, as in, do their job for them.
I am so glad about this change. Finally there might be an end in sight to the zerk-only player-enforced requirements for dungeons. If you didn’t see this coming, oh well…
+1
merging these threads was kinda silly IMO
Sorry, i asked for the merge, and yes, i am silly.
The other day I met a new player at Wayfarer Foothills who was asking basic questions about the game and his character and there was nobody else on the map to answer his questions or help him out with hearts or events. I went out of my way and took him to Lion’s Arch and then to Divinity’s Reach and then Queensdale before taking him to the 4 zerg waypoints in Queensdale and then teaching him how to zerg. If I hadn’t done that
What happened to the end of the story?
Haven’t heard from him again so I’ll assume he either found a guild or someone else in Queensdale to help him out. Had I not helped him out I think there was a good chance of him losing interest in the game and quitting.
I tend to be the person who calls out directions in the Queensdale Train and so i get a lot of whispers from newbies who want to understand what is going on but feel too shy or awkward to ask questions in mapchat.
I can understand that if your first experience of GW2 is Queensdale, it might seem intimidating or overwhelming, so i try and guide them as best i can.
Often I party with them and take them around Queensdale to open wps and explain the Train circuit.
Once i felt very generous and kitted out a newbie in 15 slot bags.
I like to think it’s a great way to be welcomed into the game and would help them to stay.
I never hear from any of them again though…

guess it’s time to join the queensdale train! alternates here i come!
I keep all 9 of my characters in Queensdale and swap them when i feel like a change.
It never gets boring that way and it lets you level without thinking about it.
Before i found the Train (2 months ago) i had one level 80 and eight below 30, now i have one level 80 and eight level 50-65s.
As a Guild of One, i fully support this idea! Not.
i cant read this, your “u” and “ur” spam hurts my eyes.
i wont even use traits or sigils or runes that give a 5% dam bonus,
so i’m not going to bother with ascended either.
my definition of “significant” differs from yours.
Gamble at the mystic forge and throw in alot of rare runes until you get 6 superior runes of the noble.
No dungeons involved.
very true, i got one by chance once by just tossing runes in the forge,
(i bought hundreds of minor runes and made majors then superiors that way).
the only 2/2/2 setup for boon duration i have done was for Swiftness.
Nobody cares about PvE where no one cares if youre exotic or ascended.
With this attitude, why should anyone care about your problem?
I demand a refund.
you had best send support an email then, saying it here does nothing.
reroll and get over it.
not bothered whatsoever.
it’s a game.
3-4 hours on and off … so far this evening.
i see what you did there.
you might want to edit your original post to reflect that.
OP, you seem very knowledgable for someone who has only played the game for “3-4 hours on and off”.
Saying things like “What’s the point in having a huge world to explore, only to join a zerg-train in Queensdale for 80 levels?”
hmmm.
According to you, “I’m a new player (just bought the game over Christmas) and I’ve just run into the Ranger Pet Naming bug, that I’m sure everyone here is already aware of.”
You also say “FWIW, this is my second serious attempt at trying to enjoy this game, my first being a ranger which I pretty much dropped at level 24 after discovering the pet names bug, then subsequently reading the litany of ranger doom threads.”
So you can get one character to 24 and another to 27 in " 3-4 hours"? riiiiight.
And far more revealing, “heh… I hate to do this but, as a software developer myself (eww, see what you made me do!) I call BS on “can’t” fix it.”
ooookay.
Pardon me for calling “BS”.
(edited by Mimizu.7340)
i have one of each profession and 2 of ranger and engineer.
i dont understand this warrior vs every other profession mentality.
if anything i play my warrior less than the rest.
the way you lot are behaving, i dont think you deserve anything at all.
acting like entitled brats who will throw a tantrum if they dont get what they want.
check out my Have A Break thread, and have one.
and considering most people convert gold to gems rather than buy gems with real money, no loss there.
If you convert gold for gems, you are taking gems out of the market. Gems that cost real money. You end up spending gems for which someone paid real money. For the devs it doesn’t matter who paid for the gems, but every gem spent is real money paid to them.
i dont follow your logic here, gems are an infinite resource.
can we not derail this thread please?
read my initial post if youre unsure what this thread is about.
You realise people on breaks don’t buy gems anymore right?
wow, now that you mention it, i didnt buy any gems in the 10 month break i had.
thanks for pointing that out. >.<
i also havent bought any gems since i returned either.
and considering most people convert gold to gems rather than buy gems with real money, no loss there.
Have a Kitkat….
i was going to say that but i wanted someone else to
edited the topic and my post to make it even more kitkaty
(edited by Mimizu.7340)
I try and read the forums daily and whenever there is a change players threaten to leave, jump ship to another game, wait for the next hyped game or have a break.
When culling was still an issue in the game and you couldnt even see the creatures or players you were supposed to be in combat with, i stopped playing.
This was Xmas 2012, and i didnt return to the game until 10 months later.
The game has no sub, you lose nothing by having a break.
This also means that “threats of leaving” have zero impact on the devs.
So if this game isnt for you right now, Have A Break (and stop with the hollow threats).
(edited by Mimizu.7340)
Since finding out what the “legendary” weapons were, soon after launch, i realised i didnt want any of them.
The designs are far too Kitsch and Comical.
I dont understand why half the player base craves them for their particle spam and the other half wants a tickbox to turn them off.
That said, if it’s a goal you want to aim for, go ahead.
Just dont be surprised that you wont feel odd being in a clique that all wields the exact same weapons.
I much prefer the named exotics, at least they have more than a single weapon option in each weapon category.
i would like to nominate this thread for the Overreaction of the Year award.
yes.
just run alongside someone with their weapons drawn whilst you have yours stowed.
you will outrun them.
the Queensdale Train is a good place to test this.
i like this.
i dislike how thieves can tp-shot their way across maps (with enough initiative),
but rangers get no such ability across 2 bows.
no class should have a greater use of a bow than a ranger.
Easy and simple, Anet could do it in days.
And yet here we are, 1.5 years after release trying to argue what make a commander “worthy” of the tag…
So “easy and simple” that Anet has taken “1.5 years after release” to improve something they could do “in days”.
wont hold my breath for that.
Personally I’m more irritated by the obnoxious know-it-alls who bad mouth the “noobmanders” while they are learning the ropes.
maybe these “obnoxious know-it-alls” actually know what they are doing.
paying 100g for an icon does not make you a natural-born-leader, does not add charisma and does not boost social skills.
not paying 100g for an icon does not negate them either.
commanders have no place in open pvp other than as a map marker.
yesterday the map i was on got trolled by some naughty chaps, once everyone else realised they were trolling, one of them logged out and logged back in wearing a blue hat, then proceeded to “lead” the people that they had been trolling…
i just want a button that makes the icon vanish for me.
As Mungrul points out, the players who have multiple legendaries, ascended etc have the easiest combat in the game. Therefore making them as far from the best players as possible. The best players are those who do the same content without all the window dressing.
Well now you’re wrong. Of course it’s easier to fight in exotics than to fight in greens or blues; but that doesn’t mean that someone who usually fights in exotics is less skilled than someone who usually fights in greens. The person in exotics could maybe do better in greens than the person who always wears greens. What tier of gear you’re wearing doesn’t tell anything about how skilled you are; it just means the fights are a little bit easier for you by default.
there is no wrong or right, there is only opinion and mine matters as much as yours…or are you going to be elitist about that also?
your last line agreed with me.
(edited by Mimizu.7340)
Particularly in GW2, higher power gear makes content easier, meaning those who want better gear are admitting they can’t play the game without the crutch of increased stats.
Those who have top-end gear want to feel superior than those without it, even though technically they’re not playing at the same skill-level.In a nutshell.
Elitists are the worst players in the game.
I’m grinding for the BiS item because I like to have a goal in the game, and it’s pretty much endgame unless I have one. Does that +4.7% difference in stat really make me an elitist?..
