Whatever happened to “the customer is always right” as a business practice.

They did listen to their customers, which is why there have been no new armor skins in the gem store and we’re stuck with outfits instead.

we can’t say they ‘listened’ to the fans on this matter. it isn’t as if they stopped putting armor sets in gem store and started introducing armor sets in game-they have simply stopped making armor sets completely.

Fair point. But I don’t blame them for focusing their efforts on things that generate income more directly. If there hadn’t been an outcry about armor skins being in the gem store, I’d imagine there would be more armor sets available. Expecting them to put the same amount of effort into armor skins as a non-paid item as they did before strikes me as a touch on the naive side. That is, when people demanded there not be more gem store armors, they should have realized the net result would be fewer armor skins.

Lol. I have been eyeballing Juggernaut ever since playing with the hammer last beta weekend. Getting a precursor is a pain though so I’m looking forward to the new paths for them they are adding.

As someone who has made The Juggernaut you do not know pain till you’ve had to make a vial of quicksilver. Knowing full well that every single one of those silver doubloons is only worth that ludicrous amount of gold because of the juggernaut, otherwise it would be a couple of silver and junk.

I’ve had 3 level 21s parked in Sharkmaw for the last couple of months. making progress, albeit slowly. I’m in no hurry, though

I want to like Retribution, I really do. The stability on dodge and damage reduction are rather nice, but I just can’t see giving up Devastation for it (and Invocation and Herald are even more vital) except for WvW and particular PvE fights where stability is crucial.

I think that depends quite a bit on the state they are in initially. If they are fairly good out of the gate (and some of the elite specs have been) then I don’t see it as a problem. They can continue to tweak things a little bit after release. If they are in a terrible place during the BWE, I think there might be cause for concern, as seeing dramatic back-to-the-drawing-board changes would be less likely.

I hadn’t thought about that because I haven’t used the trait, but you make a good point. So your suggestion would limit personal stability with a specific setup to a more reasonable level (which I’m fine with) but allow us to provide a more moderate level more easily and meaningful stability to a group, which is great, IMO.

Currently, without that trait slotted, the one time I could see really using it is prior to shield 5.

I would still like to see this ability be changed to remove the Stability per Pulse and add a flat stack of 3 stability AOE for 5 seconds upon casting. The way the road builds and then it’s active is very clunky and I’ve actually been CC’d out of the road area before it even builds/activates and another scenario the 5 target cap actually excluded me from my own skill.

I think that would be terrific, honestly. Reliable. Decent duration, but removing the pulse keeps it from stacking to crazy amounts.

I like the animation and flavor of the skill, but it seems like it is getting in the way of making it a skill we actually want to use.

it would make a lot more sense, but it would make guards the only profession (i can think of) which are good at applying aoe might above a stack or three.

Revenants can stack a nice chunk of group might with Herald.

Personally, I would craft berserker. Trinkets actually have a stronger impact on your stats and are easier to get, so if you find you need to swap in something, you can do it there.

Yeah, that’s definitely part of the appeal of the profession for me. I tend to gear on the defensive side (speaking in general, PvE included) but feel like with the active defenses Revenant has access to, you can gear more offensively and still not be remotely squishy. I get, though, that if you want to be running up front you would need more.

A question on CoR. Can it hit oil pots? Can the AA?

That’s actually not too far off from the build I plan to use for PvE. Jalis/Glint w berserkyrie trinkets. I plan to use devastation over retaliation for that, but can definitely see where using Retribution would be beneficial in WvW (and certain fights in PvE)

Kodiak, I’d love to hear your thoughts on what other roles Revenant can play in WvW, since you seem to understand it so well. For someone that is interested in participating, but tends to trail the group a bit and isn’t confident enough to run at the front of the pack, what do you suggest?

A lot of stuff (in general) doesn’t show up in the log. Look for the actual damage/heal numbers on screen to see if it is working. I had to do the same thing with life steal prices on vengeful hammers.

This isn’t GW1 and things are balanced differently. Adding condition transfer to Shiro would be a problem, IMO.

It’s multiplicative. So, for instance, if you have hammers active with rite going, it is only 60% total, not 70. That is, you get 20 percent protection from the remaining damage after taking rite into account. I don’t think I tested it, but presume standard protection would work that way as well.

For Revenants, conditions no longer become just a weakness, it is a design flaw. And it is a glaring design flaw.

There are lots of ways to deal with it. In fact, the only stance that has no way of dealing with them at all is Shiro, which is why so many are complaining. If you want to channel Shiro, you should learn to utilize Legendary Guardian™ stance. As in, stand next to a guardian.

But seriously folks, calling dealing with conditions a design flaw is overstating the case dramatically. We’ve been over this already. If you are that concerned about it, pick something other than Shiro or complement Shiro with a legend that handles them very well.

I think you guys are missing the point here.

While I can see the appeal, there’d have to be a gap in the evade, which is going to make it a problem to use the ability in some conditions. Not to mention, it potentially creates issues with the camera.

No, this is a terrible idea, because hammer does more damage at greater distance. If you want a gap-closer, switch to something else.

Well, I don’t know if this will make you feel any better, but a few weeks ago, I flushed the toilet 22 times and got clovers twice. After saving up more ectos, etc, I went to do another 150 a couple of days ago and got clovers 5 out of my first 6 tries. So, don’t despair, just keep at it.

It’d be about as viable as an elementalist staying in fire forever or an engineer who never uses any kits. It’s technically possible and you probably wouldn’t die ALL the time but it’s just a waste. If you want to play like that, you’d probably be better off with a warrior or maybe a ranger.

I wouldn’t go quite that far. I think Glint is well suited to staying there most of the time, especially in a group where personal dps might take a hit, but you are boosting group dps. But yeah, there will be times where switching is advantageous, like if you need a heal or want to break a stun or clear a condition.

I think maybe the question is asking whether you have to constantly switch legends to do decent dps, and the answer to that is no if you manage your energy usage well (easier to do with some legend/weapon combos). Not like you would on a class built around long cooldown abilities.

That’s part of the beauty of the Revenant is that you can mix different styles together. Whether you want to be aggressive offensively, be tanky, provide support, or some combination, there’s a way to do that.

Your numbers are wildly inaccurate, with shield in 24s you can have 3 sec of block and a 4k heal that also roots you as well as 2s of protection because you can’t recast it twice in 24s.

No, he’s factoring in both shield skills (hence the protection from shield 4). Shield 4 has a 15 second recharge, so you could actually have 8k healing and 4s protection by about 17 seconds. By 24s, shield 5 would be off cooldown again.

Bottom line: shield is fine. If you folks don’t want to use it, don’t. It’s clearly a defensive option and no one uses defense in this game anyway, right? That’s what people keep telling me anyway.

Having said that, I do think being able to dodge roll out of the channel (or break it some other way) would be a great thing, but I’m not sure if you can. Regardless, I think sword 3 could be useful for preventing yourself from being gang-tackled once the channel is over.

I can see where that would be frustrating, particularly with a friend that had better drops. The only thing you can really do is stay the course. Trying to force it generally isn’t going to work, as you have already seen.

The great thing about this game is that while the shiny stuff is awesome, you don’t need it to be effective. If you decide to come back, I would advise making a long term goal, but breaking it up into much smaller pieces so you can feel like you are making progress toward that.

That’s a level 80 story mission. If you aren’t wearing full level 80 exotics, they can usually be had for fairly cheap on the trading post. If you can’t afford a particular stat combination, there should be something similar for much lesss.

Good advice from Zudet and others above. If your weapons and build are heavily slanted toward single target, consider switching it up a bit as Coulter suggested.

Another good improvement for Plague would be to remove it from the Corruption category entirely, remove the self-inflicted conditions completely. This would be an amazing buff, balanced by it no longer being affected by Master of Corruption.

How in the world is increasing the duration by 60 seconds (no longer affected by MoC) an “improvement”? It isn’t.

It’s a great skill as it is, including being the single best source of stability in the game (duration-wise). Leave it alone.

Function is a generous term, as nobody takes corruptions except for consume conditions (now displaced by signet of vampirism) and corrupt boon let alone specs into Master of Corruptions trait.

Yeah, I know. I’m a wackaloon. My utility bar is consume conditions, corrosive poison cloud, blood is power, and epidemic. And yes, I use MoC. Is it the best build? No, though it will get better with Reaper.

We may simply have to agree to disagree. I think it will be phenomenal in PvE. Situational, yes, but it isn’t your main heal, so that’s perfectly ok with me. It isn’t a skill you are going to spam on cooldown.

PLEASE ADD A TRAIT THAT GIVES PASSIVE 25% MOVEMENT SPEED!!! After this expansion, Guardian will the be ONLY class that does not have this. Please be fair here..

I’m not arguing against this, as I would love Guardian to have it, but this isn’t strictly true. Although Revenant has great access to swiftness post-80 via herald, it doesn’t have a swiftness trait.

I’m ending up with male sylvari blue with warden shoulders, body, legs, arborist hands and feet, shadow shield and dreamthistle sword all dyed black with a face mask thingy. Wanted an assassin type look that Flameseeker shields just to bright on the setup as I’m doing abyss black dye

Sounds cool. I use Warden helm and Arborist shoulders on my guardian. Sylvari have some great cultural pieces.

Sadly anything else though gets really big and bulky lol

Yeah, I do avoid the Oaken stuff for that reason.

Since torment is the main damaging condition for Revenant, I’ve been thinking about adding functionality to a trait or maybe changing the minor 2 in corruption to increase the base damage torment does while not moving while not increasing the while moving damage to help it become more of a viable option in all areas of the game. What do you all think?

I haven’t played Mallyx much (and not since BWE 1) so I didn’t comment on the changes. This gave me an idea, though, to perhaps give a bit more flavor back. Instead of just increasing damage when stationary, what about something that would encourage enemies to move. I’m thinking about the venom trait you just revised. What if hitting X stacks of torment caused a pool of poison at their feet? Just a thought (which might be terrible) for a different feel. I think the CD would have to be lowered for that to be useful (offset by requiring more stacks)

I’m not a pvp guy, but with the change in capture contribution I could see this being used with Jalis on bunker builds now, dropping Inspiring Reinforcement first.

Finally, after 3 long years we can start pulling out our shield skins! Thank you so much Roy for these changes looking forward to my new main even more.

You know, I bought the Dwayna skin to use on my Rev, but I kinda want to make to make Flameseeker now…

If only it matched my armor I’d save for it
