Only if you have three phantasms out, in which case you certainly wouldn’t want to use the AA, that is true.

Phantasms do considerably more damage than clones and have longer cooldowns, so the preference (if you are going to shatter something) is to shatter clones. One utility skill I love is Mirror Images, which creates 2 clones. It is really nice for getting clones up in a hurry for a bigger heal and/or a bigger shatter.

Well the clone production could be in theory valuable if the AA did more conditions. For example, if the scepter AA produced staff clones, people would love it because staff clones are useful. But scepter clones… meh

Agreed. I love scepter, including the AA, but the best part of the AA is making the clone, so the clones themselves don’t do much. If the clones were of a different type, even a random type (possibly via trait?), it could be a big improvement.

It’s primary use is to churn out clones. With a Phantasm build, you generally don’t want that. For a shatter build, it is more useful.

I would agree with that if TimeWarp was not so awesome. Plus, a boonshare running with bountiful disillusionment (which is quite frequent) is almost guaranteed to share stability.

Speaking of which, anyone know if BD going to get another boon when using the new shatter?

Don’t know if its already mentioned (or already known) but f5 skill gives us now only 1,5s per illusion….

To be fair, even giving only 1s per illusion and not counting the Mesmer (max 3 seconds) is still going to make that shatter INCREDIBLY powerful.

And be ready that both Chronophantasm and Seize the Moment will likely cause a lot of complaints.

But continuum split may not be as easy to use as you think. The time in the shift can scale with the number of clones you have. You can do very limited things in a one second long split duration. Also opponents see you use split, they will get all their dodges/invul/block ready for any crazy offensive attempt you might do.

Can you tell me whether boons applied during the shift reset when your health does?

Interesting…Gravity Well didn’t seem that good to start with. I don’t really understand why they didn’t make the shatter an elite skill, which seems like a better trade-off for what the skill does (I say that because I want to keep what the shatter does, but am afraid it’s going to get nerfed into oblivion).

Mouselook implementation and open/use all would be so huge. This may be tough to understand for someone without hand issues, but applying constant pressure to a mouse button can be a real problem for some.

I actually avoided playing GW for a long time because there was no Mouselook. I do play now, but get around that limitation using a script on my G13. I also have a key on it that does a double-click for opening bags (reduces the number of clicks and shifts the burden to my left hand, which doesn’t have the same issues as my right).

Just ran into this when looking up Dire Gear for my Mesmer. Has Anet ever explained why certain stat combos are gated in that fashion?

Dire gear is dirt cheap. I bought exotics for my necro for less than 1g each just a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve been working on an idea for a chrono/chaos/illusion build I’m anxious to try. I’m still leveling my Mesmer, but this will give me a chance to try some things and hopefully make some decisions on what I want to do. I’m considering crafting some Sinister gear and some other things that require a bit of an investment. It will be nice to know whether Chronomancer is going to work like I think it will.

Well, it could be worse. If you spend any time in the Necromancer forums, you will likely conclude the only way to identify a necro main is they complain about the class :P

I will never understand people that feel compelled to go into the game forum for another class/profession/etc and complain about it.

Well, I rather enjoy the people who come into the mesmer forum and act surprised to find people who main mesmer. Makes me laugh.

Really? That seems…odd. I held off starting one for a long time, because I wasn’t sure I would like it (on paper, the shatter mechanic seems kind of fiddly) but I’ve been having a blast with it (still leveling up).

I’m not much of a pvper, but I am loving the hybrid Condi/shatter scepter build I’m working on, and it will only get stronger with Chronomancer. However, I think it would be really tough to use effectively in pvp because of targeting issues. It’s hard enough in PvE. When you can nail 4 or 5 targets with scepter 3 it feels awesome, but that’s not likely to ever happen in pvp. Simply put, yeah I think it can work, but there are probably far easier ways to get better effect.

I get where you are coming from, and if it was deliberately changed, it should be documented in the patch notes, but this sounds more like a bug fix than a nerf to me. And while I’m sure it’s annoying at the moment, I think as someone who seems pretty creative to have come up with that strategy, you’ll come up with something else that works for you.

Sorry to pull up an old thread, but I’m really liking scepter/torch on my Mesmer and I have a question on this power. Is the secret to hitting multiple targets simply targeting the one in the back or is there more to it than that? It seems inconsistent, but it’s hard to tell in a fight with stuff moving around.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Well, Having played through most of season 2, with no clue what any of it was really about when I started, I think that this cinematic is vastly better than nothing at all. Would I like more? Sure, but this is very nice to have.

A couple of notes:

The “I’ve seen things” achievement has no text.

I think that this cinematic should be the first step of LS2 ep 1.

Yes, if you qualify for the bonus slot and buy the enhanced or ultimate, you will get both extra slots, though only one will be delivered immediately. The second will be received within the next week or so.

Soul Marks: Marks still get block even after taking Soul Marks.

Yeah, I’ve done that at least once before when using US, but that’s our own fault. We made a mistake, simple as that.

Interesting…you’re using Master of Corruption with a power build. I’m running an MoC corruption condition build (curses/soul reaping/blood) that I am having a fantastic time with, but I would have never considered doing that on a power build. Kudos for creativity!

That’s not a fix that’s a HUGE nerf

If they do this I will no longer be able to get 100% weakness uptime by transferring off my self-weakness to an enemy. It will also lower my overall dps from bleed and torment by a full stack!

How do I stop this change from happening?

Don’t follow you on the bleed and torment dps. But remember your thread complaining about bleed priority? This change will keep the cripple from CPC from scaling with duration and preventing the bleed from transferring.

In a perfect world, duration would be applied when conditions were transferred.

Actually, for condition transfer builds, having condition duration not apply to self-inflicted damaging conditions would stink. I hope they will keep that in mind before making additional changes. Having it not apply to non-damaging conditions sounds great, though.

This is a nice change. Right now with the corruption build I’m using, I’m deliberately avoiding condition duration, because I want the cripple from Corrosive Poison Cloud to wear off before using dagger/staff 4. This change will allow me to use duration gear/food without screwing up my skill rotation.

Might depend on where you are? In the pvp lobby a couple of days ago, it wasn’t updating immediately.

Ugh, just lost my post.

I think it is build-defining because it is an all-in sort of thing, at least to me. I’ve got a full bar of corruption skills (consume condition, corrosive, BiP, epidemic, plague). Every 20 seconds I’m sending weakness, bleed, and torment with staff/dagger 4 on top of the normal effects of CPC and BiP and can then double it to a group with epidemic if need be.

I’m sure there are better builds out there, but this works really well for me. Probably not something you would use in PvP, but great in PvE and should be a blast in WvW zergs (looking forward to trying this in a couple of days).

Yes, it has been a constant problem with the whole tree. While they did want us to have to make tough choices this is the wrong way to go about it. The corruption trait is definitely not worthy of being master tier, and needs to go down to adept. Terror is super build defining because it makes condition builds bursty and needs a damage buff so it can move up to gm. Path of corruption is probably master worthy.

Another problem is that their is no choice at adept tier. Both chilling darkness and the fall damage trait are super bad, plagues sending is good but even if it wasn’t no one would take the other two.

The GMs have a similar issue, Parasitic contagion doesn’t make sense as a trait. If you are getting a lot of healing out of it your already facerolling your opponents, so it is pointless. The scepter trait creates too many balance problems and the scepter as a whole needs work. I’m fine with weakening shroud, but many think it isn’t gm worthy either.

Well, it’s clear you aren’t a fan of corruption, which is fine, but I’m loving it (and MoC is very much a build defining trait…hell I’d take it as a GM), and parasitic contagion goes with it quite well.

I have bigger issues with the adept tier on soul reaping.

People really like Terror that much? We don’t have that many sources of fear and they tend to be quite short. What am I missing here?

Consider scrapping the condition duration, which is what I have decided to do. You could always go with bleed or poison duration instead. Or you could swap to staff and use putrid mark. Regardless, I’d do CPC first.

CPC -> BiP -> Putrid Mark -> (Epidemic -> Consume Conditions)

If you bought the game after 23rd January 2015 you won’t get a second character slot but can contact Arenanet or the retailer you bought the game from to get the price of your original purchase refunded.

Only half right. Purchases from third-party retailers in that time frame are supposed to get an extra character slot, not a refund.

Well after about 200 transfers with dagger 4 i’ve never once transferred bleeding. I always transfer crippled, torment and weakness.

By any chance, are you using Blood is Power, followed by CPC, then Dagger 4?

If so, use CPC first. By the time you hit dagger 4, the cripple will have already worn off (it is only two seconds) and you will send bleed, torment, and weakness. Works wonders. It may be possible to activate dagger 4 before the cripple wears off (not sure), in which case just slow down a hair.

It just occurred to me that if you are stacking a bunch of condition duration, that could be a problem.

No, thats my point. Necro axe 1 should be changed to melee. We already have scepter for medium range and with necro axe as it is now, nobody will use it.

Except a power necro wouldn’t want to use a scepter.
