So don’t make those to level up?
/headdesk
It will be -7 when using. It goes off of when its at 50% and regen is at 0.
edit: Thus the cap of -10 degen, if it went from +5 it would cap at -15. (which would be all of glints active +the f2 50% boon and still could have more.)
This is not correct. The possible range of actual energy gain/drain is between -5 and +5. Base is +5 and the maximum total upkeep of 10 reduces it to -5, which is as low as it can go.
So, to answer the original question, with an upkeep skill of -7, total energy gain/loss would be -2.
I really want the Fractal Skins for my Revenant because they’re so Mists looking. In the new system if you’re 51+ you can buy them for Pristine Fractal Relics.
Congrats! I’ve had bad luck with timing on guild fractal runs lately, so haven’t had a chance to do that many.
Do you recall where you saw the info about the new system? I hadn’t seen many details like how advancement was going to work and how AR would be changing, if at all.
Heh, I haven’t been that fortunate yet in fractals. My reward level is around 20 and I’ve had a couple of rings drop, but not the boxes.
I’ve been using my guardian in fractals, but think Revenant is going to be dynamite there.
Beyond that, stick to exotic grade items to see what works for you and move onto Ascended when you’re ready to fully commit.
This is exactly what I plan to do. I’m saving up Damask as I make it (I’ve been selling Deldrimor for cash, but it is much easier to make reliably). I have exotic with strength runes in it and when I am ready to make ascended, I will salvage the exotics with BL kits. I will actually have to level up an armorsmith before I can do that, but I’m hoarding cash to finish Flameseeker at the moment.
Revenant for PvE. WvW will be either Rev or Reaper.
I’ve said this before, but trinkets are pretty easy to get, so I suggest starting with those, then deciding if you really need/want to change the armor.
The person you responded to made the weird statement that you could just not swap for a stunbreak.
This is blatantly false because ventari has no stunbreakers.
Mea culpa on that one. Thank you for pointing it out. Seems like a weird oversight for a support legend. The flip side of having the distinct roles is that they should be somewhat self-sufficient within certain limits. Even so, I would make the case that this is an issue (a big one) with the design of the legend, rather than the profession as a whole.

I get the point just fine. You set up a straw man to make a point I don’t agree with.
But to answer yet again, if it were me, I’d use Glint. It is simply too good not to use (which is a different problem). Cleric’s has power, which would be useful. You can run regen and even protection to keep your group alive while locked out of Ventari. Barring that, Jalis makes a certain amount of sense. Again, I think it comes down to why you would leave Ventari.
And if that doesn’t work for you, you could always follow the advice you gave on the Druid forum: if you don’t like it, don’t play it.

Well, since most hearts involve combat, this already exists to a large extent.
If your stats don’t fit with the second legend you choose, then choose different stats or a different legend.
If you don’t want to swap for a stun break, don’t. if you are running out of energy, stop mismanaging energy.
Like I said, this is a design flaw. Legends need to be more customizable, or the legend swap benefits need to be revamped to not require abandoning the legend that you spec for.
This isn’t a flaw and they don’t need to be more customizable. People think that because they become fixated on the revenant working like other professions. Instead, we, as players, need to think about playing the profession in a different way.
Again I ask you to imagine the scenario where you don’t want Ventari. Figure out what those scenarios might be (I already made some suggestions) then you can decide what legend will fit with what you want to do.
The thing I like about the legends is that they are situational. No one legend can or should be ideal in every situation.
Ok, I’ll bite. What’s wrong with Legendary Dragon stance?
It’s an elite spec legend, only available to people that use Herald specialization as mentioned in the OP.
Actually, the OP doesn’t say that. Moreover, how is that a problem?
The class by itself is designed around this mechanic of hard role swapping.
Right. This is why I paired Glint with Jalis. If you plan to spend much of your time in one legend, the thing to consider is why you would want/need to leave it. I might leave Glint because I need more healing, condition clear, or the party is taking too much damage, so Jalis makes perfect sense.
One might leave Ventari because they don’t need healing at the moment and want an offensive focus (Shiro? Though perhaps this might be more because you want mobility) or because they want to provide other types of support (Glint).

To me, the best solution I’ve seen is delivering the stability at the start in an area then having the road pulse swiftness. That would make it more useful than what we have now, but keep it manageable (because there is no pulsing stability), and make sense thematically.
You guys are awesome.
Got a full set of Devona’s (exotic Berserker w Strength Runes) now. I’m up to 65 tomes and will have a few more by the 23rd. I’ve got berserkyrie amulet and accessories ready to go and the fractal relics to buy the rings.
I’ve got one Arah weapon box for a hammer and 300 shards of Zhaitan for a sword. And just yesterday, I bought my first precursor, The Chosen.
I don’t have an outfit totally planned out, but I have picked up some armor skins recently that I hope to put to use, with a bit of a dragon-inspired theme.
Ok, I’ll bite. What’s wrong with Legendary Dragon stance?
Development time going to fixing quaggan animations, but human females are still missing their idle animations.
NPCs more important than player characters.
Playable Quaggan confirmed.
Rite is a very strong ability, but situational because of the cost. It could be an amazing lifesaver if you plan ahead.
I still wish the stun break were elsewhere.

Fanboys have nothing to do with it. Creating an illusion of scarcity works as a business model. Anet isn’t the only business to do it; it’s a common tactic. When people see that an item is going off of the gemstore/going away, they’re more likely to panic buy.
Yup. It’s an artificial economy. Half the things people value in the game are solely because of perceived scarcity.
At least they gave a week’s notice before stuff vanished.
I was fighting some bandits once and spamming pistol 3. Swapped to shortbow, hit skill 3………. and leaped backwards off of a cliff and died.
I meant to do that >.>
Oh! I’ve done that on my guardian after accidentally switching to hammer.
I’ve dodge-rolled off a platform in uncategorized fractal…does that count?
And does no one remember dial up? The old 56kb/s (that’s kb, not KB). I played single player games back then and cruised the Internet at the blistering speed of 56kb/s.
56k? Science fiction. Try 300 baud, man.
I sense a disturbing lack of weapon skills.
Never heard of this site.
Gamasutra has been around for years and is more of an insider site than a consumer site. They are as reliable as it gets for industry news, IMO.
Because some of the servers were above the level regarded as “full” when the adjustments to population capacity were made.
This isn’t a casual game by the standards you are talking about. People take it for granted, but simply navigating in a 3D space and not getting lost takes quite a bit of getting used to for someone that hasn’t done it before (and isn’t a little kid that soaks up everything).
If she isn’t a gamer, I’d suggest starting with something much less intense that has social aspects to it, along the lines of what CandyHearts was suggesting.
Look at the examples they provide. One person holds the boss while surviving — maybe with a healer in his pocket, maybe not while the rest of the group does X. Or, one person is in close absorbing hits — maybe with a healer, maybe not — while the rest are at range applying conditions.
I’m hoping there will be different “tasks” during the fights, much like what you just described or like what they did in raids for Marvel Heroes, such that different specs will be useful in different ways. Maybe one group needs massive damage with lots of aoe to deal with swarms while another group needs a bit more survivability/support to occupy a boss, just as an example.
I think balance includes more than gear, it also includes trait and skill selection. I suspect Berserker gear is still going to be completely viable, even in raids, provided you are getting some survivability through other aspects of your build. You shouldn’t be able to make every choice in the direction of all-out offense and still do well. If you can, the content is too easy.
If you are going to pair two legends with little to no condition removal, you better compensate with something else (Lyssa runes, perhaps?). Revenant actually has quite a few options for dealing with conditions, but there are going to be people screaming about how bad Revenant is against conditions because they want to max offense without making any sacrifices.
One thing worth mentioning is that you can get stun break and a little condition removal on legend swap from the Invocation line.
Or they could, you know, buy the expansion and do it themselves.
this is a great one. i think it would make for a difficult choice on which one to pick, i think at 50% would be ideal since the other traits gives you one more chance at; Jade Echo on downed (one last vengeful attack), herald at 25% (one last stand), and Rite of the Great Dwarf (one last re-composure).
Actually, this would be pretty cool when downed. Any chance of changing the Jade Winds proc?
Very nice. I’ve still got a ways to go (need more T6, icy, onyx, etc), but getting there.
Are you the one that outbid me?
shakes fist at Belial
Congrats, man. But to my knowledge, only the main-hand legendaries have special footsteps. The main thing for Flameseeker is the different visual when it is equipped.
It’s also conceivable they could artificially give us some progress, if need be. Not to mention, there will only be one raid boss and the raid will be entered from a temporary gate, which may be partly so as not to require masteries.
(edited by Misguided.5139)
Not positive, but my guess is that conditions that stack intensity would get 2 seconds added to each stack, whereas those that stack duration would simply get a 2 second increase.
If changing something becomes necessary, start with the trinkets instead. They are far easier to obtain and have a larger impact on overall stats than armor, anyway.
Haven’t you guys seen the sharknado movies? When something flies right over your head, you’re supposed to hold up a sharp object and cut it in half.
Traits looked fantastic. Like ALL of them. Going to be tough to choose.
Iam soo angry right now, in fact everyone is.
Speak for yourself, not for everyone. I assure you, “everyone” is not angry.
But… SMOKESCALE PET!
I comment on Jalis being odd to use as it was difficult to find a setting where he really shined. I agree that his heal is very solid, but it was rare that I needed it. Often the skills from other Legends outweighed the solid condi-clear from Jalis.
My thought process was like this: I’m going to spend much of my time channeling Glint. If I’m swapping to a different legend, it’s because the situation is rapidly spinning out of control in some way shape or form. I want the second legend to keep me (and hopefully the group) on my feet until things have settled and I can switch back. Swapping to Shiro makes little sense in that situation. Sure, you could swap and use Jade Wind, but then you’re left with no energy and no defense.
So for me, Jalis makes sense as something of a panic button. It’s a defensive choice (along with shield off-hand) that leaves me feeling comfortable gearing very aggressively, which I don’t typically do.

Overall pretty good. Just a note on the Devastation line. Sigil of Strength might be a little overkill given the might generation of Sword, Herald traits, and Facet of Nature.
Herald is a solid choice, but Jalis is very odd to use in PvE. Shiro gives you a lot more mobility and access to quickness which pug groups may not have in abundance compared to a more organized group. You also have an evading stunbreak ‘on-demand’ with Shiro which may be needed, more so in pugs.
Personally, I’m a fan of Scholar Runes, but if your goal is self-sufficiency Rage is a solid choice.
I’m also planning to use sigil of strength. Less time spent generating might is more time generating fury. Moreover, the active ability for burst of strength is quite good, so I’d rather have might from other sources if possible. So I don’t think the sigils are overkill at all, but I do think that the sigil of strength and runes of rage are at odds with one another if you plan to run facet of darkness often. I’m using strength runes instead.
As for Jalis, there’s nothing weird about Jalis in PvE at all. If you run Jalis/Shiro you have virtually no condition clear at all. If you plan to camp Glint for the boons much of the time, then Jalis as a complement is perfect.
Actually, it was supposed to be a play on the German tactic Blitzkreig, literally meaning lightning war
yeah, Blitzcrank never even occurred to me. Cool name, though it would fit a Scrapper rather well.
Ignore the 7% crit chance sigil, it’s not needed, was there when i was testing something else.
I’m actually planning to use one alongside Strength and berserkyrie trinkets.
I agree. It should use a name with a higher concept. Like how Guardians are hunting dragons become “Dragonhunters.” Druids will be Staff Rangers, so they should become “Strangers.”
:^)
Stranger Danger in 3…2…1…
The answer here is to find better people to group with.
One other things folks may not realize is that when you get a “Daily Fractal” without the specified range (I.e. 1-10), a single fractal will complete that. You don’t have to run a full set of four to get it.
I’d say female charr mesmer, but I could be wrong
Mine is named Kharrmer. She’s a Charr-mer.
Expect to see armor skins return via the BL merchant. Which means you will be able to get the skins either through BL tickets or the TP same as weapon skins.
Terrible idea (not that I think you are advocating it). I’d rather just have them on the gem store.
