Some people have a very loose definition of “grind”.

Go play Silkroad Online and tell me GW2 has grind. Go play Aion, go play most MMOs of the past and tell me GW2 has grind.

You’re a might spoiled if you honestly believe GW2 has any significant level of grind that you are forced to do.

Also the ArenaNet team doesn’t even want you to have to level up from 2 to 80 but they put levels in the game so the majority of gamers wouldn’t be confused by the lack of character level.

I wonder how much grind they’ve added to that ‘challenging content’ they keep touting, I’d wager colossal amounts of grind and left clicking until your mouse breaks.

DO YOU EVEN PLAY THIS GAME!?!

What is the colossal amount of left clicking you are imagining?

The only time I’ve encountered a lot of left clicking is when using Essences of Luck.

You know you can use a keyboard to activate skills, right? Spamming left clicking?? Whaaaa?

please clarify- masterypoints with xp-gain?

Mo Mo.1947

It says your experience bar will be replaced with a mastery bar. Sounds like you’ll get mastery points from doing content, but also they’ve said there are specific things you need to do to unlock different rewards.

So I guess it will be both? Like how you can get WvW points for doing anything in WvW, but there also might be an achievement aspect?

Now that you mention it is quite unclear.

But we can try and infer that there will be normal experience gain for everything like now, only it will be for mastery points in stead of skill points, and also challenges and other specific content required for certain rewards.

That is carapace armor mostly, but with Magitech medium armor legs. The boots aren’t showing, but I don’t think they’re carapace armor because I think I would see the top of them in that picture.

They’re taking the same approach I am. I like carapace armor but not the legs. Gonna swap them for something else.

The big rewards are the only ones shown in sPvP reward tracks when you look at the overview. There are lesser rewards that you get as you progress. Do one match and look at the screen that pops up. It shows the small rewards as it fills the bar.

For every chest you see in the overview on the PvP panel, you get a tome right before.

All the reward tracks have 8 tiers, so you get 8 tomes by finishing a reward track in sPvP.

Armor repair has no purpose anymore

Again, if you have to repair your armor enough that it annoys you, then you need to learn how to play the game without dying so much. Feel free to ask for help on the forums.

If you’re complaining about dying too much in WvW. Stop playing WvW. Dying happens in WvW. And it can sometimes happen often if you’re doing things that really help your team.

Grind is optional. All the things you think you need, you don’t. You don`t even need exotic gear, but if you played a character from 2 all the way to 80 doing PvE content the average player would earn the ammount of gold needed to buy themselves a workable set of armor to continue PvEing in.

If you like WvW, you get plenty of drops from ranking up and killing NPCs and players that can fund you or gear you up to continue WvWing.

You can get what you want by doing almost anything. You could fund and gear a character up entirely from doing jumping puzzles and other daily things you find fun.

If you absolutely insist you have to grind for it, I absolutely insist it is not necessary. No grind needed.

If you want to classify some of the things you do in game as grind, then congratulations, you like grinding and choose to grind. If you don’t like what you’re doing in game. Stop doing it. You’ll be fine doing something else.

When you reactivate a living story episode that you have completed through to the end, you can replay any part of it you choose. If you have a completed episode activated, you will see purple stars on the map instead of the green stars that usually show up for storyline start locations.

Go to the start location of the part you want to replay and activate that part at the purple star on the map just like you would normally activate a green star for storyline.

Does that make sense? I feel like I could’ve explained it better. But the answer is no, you don’t have to start all the way over.

The only weapons, which thieves should receive through specializatino,s be it old or new weapons should be

  • Longbow
  • Staff
  • Torch(es)
  • Offhand Sword
  • Whip/Chain Sickles
  • Crossbow(s)
  • Maces
  • Axes
  • Claws

But absolutely NO

  • Greatsword
  • Rifle
  • Polearm/Scythe
  • Shield
  • Warhorn
  • Scepter
  • Focus
  • Great Axes

It’s a good thing there will be no claws, polearms, great axes, crossbows, or whips.

Current system is fine.

Really I go days without repairing armor sometimes. I just forget to visit that shield. And I haven’t had a fully broken piece of armor in a very long time. Only place my armor gets damaged mostly is in WvW, and you gotta go back to spawn often enough you can visit the repair on the way back into the fray.

If your armor is going red and disabling then that’s your sign you need to seek out skills or knowledge on how to not die so much.

Keep armor repairing and armor damage. Thanks!

Guild Halls - clarification needed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mo Mo.1947

It may be something where your guild needs to do something in the expansion area to unlock it and then players are given an item to port themselves there similar to HoM.

This is what it sounds like pretty much. You have guild missions that take you all over the world. It sounds like you may have to do some mission or series of guild missions to unlock a guild hall.

I doubt there will be an item you have to hold. No reason to make us carry an extra item on all our characters. In GW1 you just click the “Guild Hall” button and teleport there. I"m sure it"ll be the same.

Instant teleport to your guild hall wouldn’t be game breaking. You can already instant teleport to Heart of the Mists for quick access to the bank and trading post.

Most people seem to be completely ignoring axe. Why couldn’t a thief weild an axe?

But as far as why rifle? Many say thief could use another ranged option other than shortbow as pistols are underused. I’ve recently started running P/P with Ricochet in group settings and I think it’s more useful than shortbow aside from not being able to AoE walls in WvW. You get more tags on enemies for drops as well and have P 2 immobilize.

Maybe they’ll go rifle, but I’d definitely like another offhand to round out the main-hands we have already. We’ve only got 2 offhands after all.

You’re lucky they didn’t go in and look for more valuable information like any passwords you have saved on your laptop. Maybe they did. Might want to change the PW on any important emails or other websites like your bank.

Instead they just griefed you by deleting your characters.

Always lock your laptop at the least, but you shouldn’t leave it laying around on a College Campus, or ANYWHERE.

When I was in college I packed up my laptop anytime I needed to go to the bathroom or get a drink or something. If you’ve got enough battery power you could even leave it in sleep or locked mode unplugged while you make a quick trip to get a drink so you won’t have to start everything up again.

GW2 Main Content Now Obsolete?

They added two new level 80 only zones already, and yet the cities are not dead. For one keeping the mystic forge, fractals portal, and other helpful NPCs in Lion’s Arch only makes Lion’s Arch the failsafe hub. Even if the game died down in other zones Lion’s Arch would still be a place where you could go to find other players and ask questions.

But they add features that help prevent the dying of lower level zones. Dungeon entrances are located in various maps, some low level, and World Bosses spawn all over the place.

It’s great for new players because there are always gonna be high tier players coming in and out of the starter zones to do World Bosses.

So I heard of a thing, but is it okay?

I’ve gotten answers about dual boxing by opening a support ticket. That’s the easiest way to get an answer.

And heard from people in chat that they got banned for using the immersive combat mode because it does give you an advantage and change the gameplay.

One thing they’ve said multiple times is that macros are only okay if it’s one action per key. So technically the macros that play music are against that rule. I would open a support ticket and ask them directly if I ever wanted to use the music playing macros. It doesn’t give an unfair advantage, but a macro that did a skill chain combo by pressing 1 key WOULD definitely be unfair advantage.

Another thing people have been using in WvW that I think they should try and crack down on is the UI change that lets you see the health of gates and walls on the other side of the map. I think that definitely provides an unfair advantage. Used to be you had to scout to get valuable information.

I’ve always found male characters in both GW2 and GW1 to be a bit wonky. In GW1 I had mostly female characters because there was very little male armor skins that look good.

I’ve tried to make a male sylvari a few times but I always delete it. The armors fit them weird and they run all goofy. Similar to how the male monk in GW1 runs really goofy.

The art team just doesn’t know how to make impressive male models and characters the way they can make impressive female armors. (With a few exceptions. I love a lot of the norn cultural armors for both sexes) I mean some of the male human builds have this weird excessive gap between their legs if you view them without armor at chartacter creation. I guess the humans of Tyria have a bit different pelvic bone structure than the humans of Earth, lol.

And it’s not about being attracted to women or not. I’ve played other games and been very comfortable playing a male character. The Assassin’s Creed games have really nice armors and animations for Ezio and the gang.

Some people play this game hardcore, so there needs to be incentives for those people; some grind for those people. Else people who play hardcore and love grinding would feel like dupes for doing what they enjoy.

Still, as a WvW player who hasn’t got but one Ascended piece of armor aside from accessories, I dislike that there are players roaming around the map with stronger weapons than me. I’m not on equal ground competitively like you are in sPvP. And the only way I can do anything about it is to play parts of the game that I don’t like to grind for crafting materials so I can craft it.

I know you can get random Ascended drops from WvW but I’ve yet to get one. And from what I see pinged in chat, the drops have specific and random stats. So that has very limited usage.

I just want to roam around in WvW and be on equal ground gear-wise without having to play other parts of the game that I find much less fun.

For RP; best race for Revenant?

Mo Mo.1947

I think Sylvari is the only one that might not make any sense at all depending on the Revenant backstory.

If Rytlock had to descend into the mists to learn to be a Revenant, which I’m not saying this is required I’m just saying if, then it would be strange for a sylvari not having been born yet to have taken the same path as Rytlock.

Sylvari come out of the pod with a profession, after all. If actually visiting the mists is a requirement for being a revenant, all the other races, being adults when you start them, have had the time to take that path.

A sylvari being an age of absolute zero couldn’t do anything outside of the pod and outside of the dream.

Just keep going and enjoy the free armor every once in a while.

Certain servers do nothing but blob. Like Jade Quarry. They blob and if they aren’t blobbing they just stand around waiting for a blob to coalesce. So avoid being on that server. If you Go Tarnished Coast you’ll see a mix of people blobbing and people running small groups. If you go Blackgate I think it’s similar, but they have weeks where it’s super dense with players and it’s a weeklong blob-fest from them.

That’s tier 1, World vs. World. Not sure about the tactics of other servers. You just need to find a server that plays the way you like to and you’ll enjoy World vs. World I think.

Whoa what the heck are all those files in your GW2 folder? Crash reports maybe? All you need is the GW2.DAT file. The rest of the files are super small. Backup the *.dat file, and also you can back up the *.tmp file if you want but not important.

• Then just redownload the client.
• Install it.
• Exit the startup window when it starts downloading the main files.
• Copy the GW2.Dat file into your GW2 folder, replacing the little one that it started downloading.
• Restart the client and let it download a couple small files possibly.
• You’re good to go!

Yeah the revenant’s story will start one of five ways depending on which race you choose.

The Living Story will probably explain a bit about how Rytlock became a revenant and maybe explain that people can choose to be revenants and learn to channel the mists, but then that’s that.

Aside from that, your character chose to study revenant arts and begins at level 1. The back story is up to you.

But it sounds like Colin debunked that. Still though not a bad idea for future game enhancements.

Faolain has been trying to bring nightmare to the Dream this whole time so she should still be protected from Mordremoth since she participates in the Dream, but she could still choose to ally with Mordremoth, or to give up the Dream and side with Mordremoth completely.

It’s so tough having gone 2.5 years without requiring to spend any money other than the original purchase price.

ANet makes us pay $60 for 2.5 years of gradual updates, additions and improvements.

That’s way more than the $100+ per year you would spend subscribed to WoW or other MMOs.

It’s so unfair that after giving us so much free additional content for so many months they now ask for a little extra money to keep the game alive. How greedy can they get?

If they have their way we may all have to pay almost $100 for 3-4 years of content.

$25 per year is WAY MORE than $100 per year spent on other MMOs. (believe me, I have a degree in Applied Fuzzy Math) So unfair!
