Hiya!
I’m thinking of starting a guild and wondering what people use to host their forums/websites and voice chat?
I was thinking of using enjin.com as a guild forum/website because I’m familiar with it but I’m wondering what DNS providers people use to register a .com for their guilds? (I don’t want to just have “blah.enjin.com”) I’ve heard that some DNS providers really blow because you don’t actually own the domain name you’re just “renting” it from them and then you always have to go through them when it comes time to pay your fees a few years later.
What DNS providers do ya’ll use for your websites to own the domain name? Is there any way (even if it’s tedious) to just directly register and pay for a domain name without using some company? I’m really unfamiliar with how the process actually works.
Also with voice chat, I’ve always liked Ventrilo, but is it best to pay for a hosting server through the Ventrilo website or use a third party company for hosting? I was thinking of having a 30-50 person Ventrilo server for starters.
I appreciate any insight or experience people have to offer~!
Have a great new year!
@Tidgepot
I do understand retrofitting all backpieces would take a lot of work, and in most cases wouldn’t be worth the effort, but when it comes to dye channels, I don’t think there’s any reason to give all back items dye channels retroactively.
There are some armor pieces that have 1 dye channel, and some that have 4. Giving all back items dye channels just so future back items could have dye channels wouldn’t be any more reasonable or worthwhile than giving all armor pieces 4 dye channels no matter what. If armor dye channels range from 1-4, then it’s not a big deal if back item dye channels ranged from 0-4 or 0-3 or whatever.
I know everything takes time and work, but I also agree with you that as players we would both love dyeable back items. If you have any voice in the company, maybe you could suggest that most of the current back items are just fine and wouldn’t need dye channels. Ya’ll don’t need to do more work than necessary just for the sake of old back items.
I’m with Hamfast on this. Make options for the upright Charr, that way my Charr warrior can still stay similar in posture to the Charr Blade Storms and Axe Fiends from GW1.
Charr Blade Storms and Axe Fiends didn’t stand upright, they hunched, maybe more-so than charr of GW2.
The Flame Legion made a big deal about standing upright, with the fringe status of the Flame Legion there’s no reason for modern charr to be standing upright.
Making an upright option for charr would require them to redesign every charr armor, not just the charr animation skeletons. An upright stance would stretch and squish all the current armor for charr in odd and random ways.

Hi.
I just swapped out a new PSU after my computer started hard resetting randomly while gaming, and eventually would not turn on at all. I thought that would be the solution to my problems but the PC still won’t turn on.
There is zero response from the power button on my case or the power button on the MOBO itself.
The power light on the mobo will turn green when the PSU is flipped on, but it doesn’t even try to start. If I plug the PSU into another outlet and then hit the power button, the computer lights will flicker quickly and then fail to start as usual.
It’s very strange, it is responsive to the slight change in charge when swapping outlets, but has zero response on the second try.
All of this seems to point to a PSU issue but I just put in a new one. Everything is wired as normal, and the behavior I described is the exact same for the old PSU as it is for the new PSU. Zero response with a short flicker response when powering up at a new outlet.
Just saying I’m still waiting for all those PvP obtainable skins we’ve been asking them to bring back for years. I remember a post a while back saying they planned on bringing them back.
Can I offer a suggestion, ANet? Does it really have to be a big deal bringing those skins back? You don’t even need to try hard making a reward track. Just make one nostaglia reward track. Name it anything you like; Dusty, Rusty, Historic, w/e you want…
You can make it the same boring chests you always have progressing along the reward track and then pop one item on the end that contains the player’s choice of one skin that used to be available via the first PvP rewards system. Bam!: 10 minutes of curating reward order and however few minutes it takes to string those items into a rewards progression.
Literally don’t create anything new, just create a reward track with stuff that already exists. Boring chests, same ol’ tome and transmute rewards, nothing fancy, just some skins so many of us want…
I think ranger is great for a solid PvE experience. You’ve got a lot of direct damage for your simple mobs, and you’ve got the pet to tank for you. Easy and fun. You can focus on looking at the world around you without worrying too much about the battles.
So whoever listed the item either listed it years ago when the price was fluxuating or thinks that it has some collectors value, which it probably does. It could be someone who doesn’t even play the game anymore, or someone who refuses to take down the listing given how much gold they spent listing it in the first place :P
Welcome! If you need help with anything ask in map chat where-ever you are type “/m” to pull up map chat. Most of the time there will be at least one friendly person ready to help you. If you can’t find someone to help you in the open world, head to one of the main cities (there’s one 50 feet from where ever you start the game) and ask for help there.
It would be quite wasteful to buy a core account, you can find a copy of HoT online for less than $40, but before that the free account should be enough for introducing someone to the game.
If they don’t like the game much, they’re not going to run up against the inconveniences of free accounts much, and if they started feeling inconvenienced by the free account, they’re playing the game enough to like it which means it’s time to buy
Hmmz…maybe they forgot to. :P It’s not like many people use the main website that much except to nab those front page links to articles and active live streams.
Well, if you aren’t among the Chosen, you get nothing.
I will not buy HoT. I guess I’m invisible and unworthy of any future consideration.
Doesn’t matter that I’ve bought gem cards worth far more than the cost of that sorry, single demographic, feature sized “expansion”.
Why won’t you buy HoT? Just curious.
Lol because THEY want everything handed to THEM on a silver platter. OP wants everything free after 3 years of having everything free. OP got what they paid for but wants more and more now. :/
2 gold is hardly anything. And you don’t get 2 gold for logging in. You have to do daily achievements.
I should get the pony bow, but I have 23 alts on my main account, and 25 more on my alt accounts. Feeding all those characters is spendy!
You need to salvage some of that nonsense. I only get the flood wall message when I’m selling tons of stacks of iron ore or something I know is ridiculous.
Get yourself some essences of luck and some mats you can sell later. (If you don’t like getting all those minor runes remember to use a basic salvage kit or a copper salvage-o-matic to reduce the chance of getting garbage.
There’s always the black feather wings backpiece and glider. You can look out for when it shows up in the gemstore again.
Foefire is a great map for start because the Lord can make it a potentially quicker game, which is good win or lose because the sooner the match is over, the sooner you can get your reward and get back in there. You don’t need mid to win, you need to learn how to flex your strategy. Foefire allows harassing far from spawn very easily, which means you have a way to pressure them and split them up if they’re dominating mid. And the points being close together means you can easily adjust your rotation strategy as soon as you start getting out-flanked.
Foefire is popular because it’s fast and adaptable to whatever your team comp is. You just need to know the strategies that work best for your matchup and Foefire will allow superior strategy to be rewarded.
When there is Team Vs Team with use Voip program maybe. In solo ? Imagine u have no Mesmer and no mobile class on ur group and the enemy does . Then wtf u do? And how u communicate with the others for what they have to do? I hate this map! I never liked but this is personal taste. This map should used for fights Team Vs Team not in solo q.
Teams and Solo needs to separate from q . And their maps too. Add more maps to solo and Team q and separate them.
You my friend singing for how good this map is but i want to see u if ur luck change and u got no pre-made group several times here.
What to do isn’t very complicated. You communicate with your team by using chat, hopefully before the match to some extent. If they have heavy rotation and harass you have to go hard holding home and mid, and never push far unless the team is stomped into the ground and respawning. If that doesn’t work, you just look for a rotation that will. I’ve had matches where we tank far and mid, which gives a quick pathway into rushing the Lord at 350. If you don’t have a team composition that can hold/tank points well, then you need to be asking for people to switch characters before the match begins if you’re facing a composition that’s going to out-harass or out-rotate you.
But anyway Legacy is great for holding home and mid because you have the cliffsides on the edges of mid where a ranged character can attack mid while still being close enough to watch home and intercept if one of the other team is coming to home from their spawn.
When I’m on my druid I go home at start then range mid from the cliff, where I can also use Search and Rescue to pull downed teammates up to a fairly safe ressing location. If I see someone running from their spawn to home, I just staff 3 back towards home and defend. It’s a pretty simple maneuver.
In general, if [insert scenario that seems unwinnable] switch to [alternative rotation or team composition] and win.
I don’t know how many games I’ve played where some kitten-brained fool says “THAT’S IT GAME OVER” when the other team hasn’t even breached 150 points and then by the end of the game my team switches strategies and almost wins, but still loses because some teammates spent half the match giving up instead of just switching strategy ftw.
Honestly, I think you expect too much. There is no way for a company to keep ahead of the content curve. The reason that they had a big content drought post-LWS2 was because they had to shift to making expansions, because Living World was unsustainable.
I think a major failure was releasing content too fast during LS1. Every two weeks? What the hell were they thinking? People like me, who is causal because I have a full time job, were the ones feeding them cash on a regular basis, but the content was ending before I could get in and experience it much, with work and family stuff in the mix, two weeks was way too short a time for me to complete a lot of the content.
And then there’s the issue of them releasing two types of content at once. What the hell were they thinking? If I recall, the last time SAB was out, there was a WvW tourney started the same week. They on multiple occasions split up the playerbase by releasing two things at once. Their numbers for last SAB may have said it wasn’t very popular, but there were many people in WvW with me who were wishing they could SAB but the tourney obligated them to stay in WvW.
If they had slowed their roll to monthly content instead of biweekly, they wouldn’t have chased away the casuals who had the cash to fund them.
Also here it is again! I wanna play SAB but I need to spend more time in sPvP until the season is over. Why the KITTEN couldn’t ANet have released SAB content AFTER the content that is already active ends?
This kind of annoying nonsense is was drove me away from GW2 for a year. Stop chasing your funding away by not giving us enough opportunity to play your content!
Heh how generous, I had someone in one of my matchups offering just 5 gold for someone to dc. >.<
You should get enough drops that you can sell many of them that you can’t use and then you can buy the bows you want on the trading post.

Anyone ever suggested a siege blueprint wallet? To keep all those precious blueprints accessible when changing to different characters?
Teaming up has cost me about 3 times as many losses as it has given me wins. Once I grouped with a full 5 person team after we randomly queued together and were dominating. We won many matches but then one person went to bed. The replacement did great, but then once a second person from the original group went to bed, everything feel apart.
I also joined two different PvP guilds and lost more when teaming with them than going in solo.
Also teaming with a less than full team still increases your chance of matching versus a full 5 team, which positions you at a disadvantage from the start.
No trust, no team. MMR is srs business.
Stop putting Sapphire players in teams with Ruby players.
I’ll wait in the queue longer if that’s what it takes. The wait for a long queue is shorter than the time it takes to jump up and down in pips from win-loss bouncing or lose streaks.
I’m in Ruby hell now and while I can see the merits of matching Rubies in the top tier against Diamond players, I can’t understand matching against people in other divisions when they are in the middle tiers. If you wanna pit me against Diamonds when I’m in tier 6 Ruby, bring it on, but once a series of Diamonds beats me down to tier 5, please just stop that nonsense… I really can’t believe the Diamond matchups continued after I got beat down to tier 4 from tier 6. :/
Right now I see tons of Diamond players standing around and tons of Sapphire players standing around, and a few Ruby. Yet I keep getting either matched vs Diamond or teamed with Sapphire.
Please match Sapphires and Diamonds with their own division. Stop giving Ruby players so many Diamonds and Sapphires in the middle tiers of Ruby.
Also stop this kind of matching behavior for all divisions, while you’re at it.. :/

that shared inventory slot will continue to pay off in the future for all sorts of scenarios
enjoy it!
or a shared inventory slot. Put the orb in the shared inventory slot then switch to that character.
Well yeah but skyhammer isn’t in the ranked rotation, Khylo is. It just seems weird for such a convenient barrel to be indesctructable. :S
treb will kill that barrel? Are you sure? because melee’ing it or aoe’ing it like you can the other barrels doesn’t work,
Drew you made it! Ya’ll haven’t played with Drew. He definitely carries his own weight in matches!
So I’ve discovered an issue with a non-destructible barrel on Battle of Khylo that gives the red team an advantage for rotating between mid and home.
Without needing speed boosts, teleports or leaps, any character can easily take a shortcut from windmill to mid without going around the ramps or using the inside stairways. The only non-destructable barrel I can find in the whole map is the one that creates this advantage. Shown in the picture on the right side, it makes getting up onto the rooftops quick and easy without the need for much jumping prowess.
Alternatively, the path up from the mansion is impossible without using special skills or speed boosts. I did attach a second image showing the path up with speed boosts.
It’s decent that both sides can get up to mid with speed boosts, but having a quick and cheesy option that any character can do with ease gives red team a significant advantage.
The barrel I’ve noted needs to be removed, or relocated and made destructable. I played as red team a few times and was loving the shortcut, until I played on blue team and realized there wasn’t a complimentary shortcut from the mansion. :/ Please fix the barrel.
Does anyone know about the website cdkeys.com. There prices on games are low enough that it seems….sketchy… But google is often putting it on the first page of search results when I’m looking to buy games.
Also what is up with Amazon showing trailers for Guild Wars ONE on one of the HoT purchase links someone posted?…
If these are legit places to buy then why can’t they even get a trailer right?

I’m pretty sure you can’t. What problem are they causing for you? Messing up screenshots or unavoidable trolls in /say or something else?
Smash the gender binary.

You can set the mini joystick to act as a mouse, should be able to play one handed
I have that and while I think it’s really cool, it’s really not that great using the joystick as a mouse. Just saying. Especially since you really need to hold down right click a lot to move around it isn’t too functional doing anything more than doing very basic stuff in the game one-handed so you can eat a sandwich or something.
It’s great for shortcuts to various things, but I don’t think it functions well as a mouse at all. I set it up for one-handed play once and it was pretty lack-luster.
Just don’t want this person buying something and finding out it’s not the best option.
omg Shift+Home why did I not know about this shortcut!
Let’s make a plan for getting your character to level 80! What is your highest level character? Is that the character you like the most? What is the character you like the most so far and what level is it at right now?
I see no reason to think that certain accounts aren’t lucky, but the reason they’re lucky may not be what any of us think.
Their RNGs are created from all sorts of random stuff, I think the reason they said they keep track of how many people have died from raptors is because they use random assortments of data like that from the game to feed their RNG equation.
But instead of character name length or content, it could be that something about their playstyle seems to favor the RNG equation. It could be their particular timing when executing skills or even the way they path their character across the map.
I know some people who got a lot of great drops daily in WvW, and I asked them about their magic find and expected I would get the same amount of good drops once I caught up to their magic find but lo and behold I’m not getting ascended rings on a daily basis.
It could be anything, but there’s no reason to think some oddity about an individual account or player couldn’t, without knowing the cause, trigger RNG favorably.
It could even be the average timing of how fast they kill things. If the RNG is asked to calculate loot constantly it could be that a player repeatedly pings the RNG for loot calculation at a favorable interval.
Basically, there’s no way to know so probably best not to worry about it.

Ah nm I misread the first part about someone not being on your team and raging.
Uh that raises more questions.
You don’t lose a pip if your teammate rages but then actually doesn’t rage and comes back within 2 minutes?
Do you lose a pip if you go to character select and change characters before the match begins to rejoin the match as a diff class?
Oh my…I seem to remember a sylvari NPC that was very fond of her pet cat… I hope that pet’s owner is…still around… >.<
Needs more hair from GW1. Double bun hairstyle for GW1 monk please. It was like the most popular hairstyle for any monk.
Why remove anything from the Gem Store?
It’s not a byte limit. Some “study” somewhere said that companies can make more money if they force people to only have a small window to purchase. It allows them to gouge the consumer by selling items at greatly inflated prices, as opposed to having to sell the item 24/7 at a reduced rate with trickle in purchases.
Anet is all about RNG and Scarcity. Having things on the gemstore all the time is the opposite of scarcity.
You can only play that game for so long until people get tired of it and stop playing. It’s getting tiresome to see the gem store selection come and go so quickly.
At this point in the meta it seems like they’re churning out tons of gem store items non-stop at limited times to try and bank up cash. When before they would only come out with stuff every two weeks or so and also they came out with living story content.
The content/money spent ratio is going way down for anyone using the gem store. Someone might want to use the expansion as an excuse but that’s invalid because we paid for that expansion out-right.
For the amount of items they want us to buy in the gem store they should be putting out more practical new content on the regular basis they were before.
NOTE: They’ll keep playing the gem store gouging game as long as the player base lets them. Stop participating in the Fashion War 2 bank drain game and they’ll stop playing it too.
I thought Jotun were a tribe of Norn? They also look too human, we need different looking races if they’re adding some. Kodan, Tengu, and Nuhoc seem to fit the bill for different. In the Kodan or Nuhoc’s case they’re so big maybe a preteen version could be our character? Small enough not to inconvenience other players too much while being big enough to be plausible members of those races.
btw, Jotun are a totally different species. They are one of the oldest magic users in Tyria and were around to fight the elder dragons last cycle when most of the other sentient species of Tyria weren’t around at all. They have quite a heritage but are currently in a Dark Age it seems.
To be honest an addition of this race is the only thing that will spark my interest in gw2 again…
As a very old mmo player I honestly got beyond tired of playing pink skinned apes in every single game lately, so some variety would’ve been really nice in this aspect. But… Seems like anet thinks otherwise cos they only reduce customization instead of creating more of it (outfits for example… yuck)
If having a character that looks different is the only thing that would interest you in the game, then you must not actually like GW2 at all. I mean, you’re just talking about a character model and skins, where the game involves the battle playstyle, various kinds of content you can use your character for, and lots of scenery.
If the only thing that would make you play the game is something that would usually only take up 1/100th of your screen or less, then you probably wouldn’t actually play the game. You’d buy some armor, spend some money, and then be disappointed again when you couldn’t think of anything you wanted to do in the game. btw many non-pink-ape characters already in GW2.
I actually like the game, so I’d like more valuable content as the focus of production rather than an entire tedious remake of all the armors they’ve made so far.
I’ve got a suggestion, stop putting up one week limited items like these Golden Wings; I would have bought these things out right provided they fell into a week that I get paid; you see the vast amount of employers in the USA are cheap and they look to save money by paying their employees biweekly. Your marketing team needs to take biweekly paychecks into consideration because these 7 day limited items are not just costing you money from people like me they also build a sense of resentment towards your company because now I feel cheated.
Since the item I’m talking about is a Glider technically I am on topic.
Yeah they’re putting out too many sales too often it’s kind of desperate. I can only see so many new outfits and gliders in a month before the idea of getting more seems like a joke.
Really, at the rate of turnout and take-away of some of this stuff I might as well not buy so much of this because you seem to be capable of turning out new things all the time. Why should I not just wait for new things later that will probably look cooler than what’s there now?
That’s my mentality now. I don’t want to buy gems weekly and I won’t. Forget that cool thing I might’ve bought if you spaced it out more. I’m not gonna. Sell me better, ANet.
So basically I can get exotic anything for my level 80 characters at a fair price. There’s a bit of price rise for newer sigils/insignias, but that is natural and will balance out. So long as exotics are fair-priced, the game is working as intended.
The economy is working fine in the game. Legendaries are…“legendary”. They are ridiculous and toilsome and nothing about a cool item skin or animation imbalances the rest of the game or the rest of the economy.
If people are unhappy that they can’t afford Legendaries, then well… they need to take some more consideration when thinking about the meaning of the word Legendary. If everyone had a legendary it would just be another gem store skin.
I don’t have any legendaries, and probably won’t ever unless I get some lucky drops that I can sell. And that is totally okay. I don’t have time to acquire that kind of wealth in game. I don’t need to be legendary and neither do any of you who can’t get close to acquiring a Legendary.
This might sound really…really funny, but hear me out.
There is no glider, instead the player’s character has their arms out while gliding and making a ‘whooosing’ sound.
When they hit an updraft, their arms rapidly flap up and down and they sound distressed perhaps.
When they do a speed-boost forward, they intensify their ‘whoooosish’ sound they make from their mouth.
You can be creative with the stealth dodge, but that’s all I want.
Thanks!
That’s an extension of the invisible glider idea, sounds great
I like the invisible glider ideas. Like this one for sure, but I was also thinking maybe things like the DBZ energy auras that they have when they fly in that show There’s so much subtlety that could be made brilliant with no visible glider as the base idea!
oh I didn’t notice that thread sorry >.<
I just now loaded into a map and started gliding right away before the client rendered my glider model and for a few seconds it was like I could fly!
I didn’t have time to turn the camera and take a screenshot, but it was really fun seeing my character seemingly flying of her own powers. So I thought I might present this idea in hopes it might become a reality. I’d totally buy an invisible glider skin that, if anything, just left a subtle trail behind the character or some DBZ style force aura
If we can have invisible shoes I think we could have invisible gliders too!
Once they release quaggans as the 7th race we’ll be fighting the deep sea dragon.
I didn’t know about this thing until just now. I’ve obviously missed January but do you think I can get the January’s brew next January or have I missed out on this?
