I wonder what time it starts? Reset on that day? Noon, pacific time? And when does it end?
Well it is patch day, so I would assume (if there is a patch) that it will start after that.
Is there any confirmation on this?
Also…there’s a patch day? We don’t get a patch every week or anything do we? I must not be noticing…
Hi.
So I don’t spend much time visiting the Queen’s Throne Room, but this time I ran in and realized that the wall behind Queen Jennah’s throne is in fact a huge magical rock. Possibly a bloodstone?
Is there any information I can read somewhere about what this might be all about?
I’ve heard various speculation about the true nature (or lack of true nature) of Queen Shoeless here and am wondering if there have been any details in various dialogues about the significance of the Queen’s “Stone Room”. :P
Region-specific masteries are tied to specific regions. Other mastery points and hero points will go into things you could use anywhere. You can confirm that by rereading info on mastery points. There are separate mastery tracks for each region. HoT will have it’s own and the core game (if not various regions of the core game separately) will have their own mastery track.
PvE “masteries” are just going to be something similar to the WvW rank point system. You gain WvW points in WvW, you’ll gain PvE points in PvE areas and be able to progress skill tracks that you can use in those areas just like you use WvW points to progress skill tracks that boost your power in WvW.
Just keep thinking of it as a PvE version of the WvW skill tracks. It’ll function the same.
Anything you can use in both WvW and PvE, you can unlock by playing only one or the other. Anything you can use in only WvW or PvE can only be unlocked in those respective areas. Just like it is now.

You see what you want to see.
Seconded. I see diversity opening up many new possibilities.
They’ll have to change something up in the sPvP reward track then.
Only thing to note is that skill points are changing up so not sure how exactly it will work for insta-80 characters.
Focus on finding the eyes in the character creator. That one looks like one of the faces near the far right of the choices if I recall correctly.
OP do you actually feel the physiological emotion “hate” because of hero points?
You just seemed absolutely convinced that Anet has made it their mission to screw WvW players over….why do you even continue to play their game?
Yeah I keep wondering why people who talk like they have no faith in the company and voice malcontent for every single decision ANet makes still play the game.
Please find a new game, knee-jerk haters. We got enough people here in Tyria without ya’ll.
(edited by Mo Mo.1947)
I think ANet would prefer you buy gold with gems to purchase the expensive cultural armor rather than pay just $10 or so for a full cultural outfit.
As I stated before, I’ve never chosen my traits looking at stats but only at trait effects.
Well since you’re not everyone I don’t really see your point. I was talking about general usage of traits. And my example came from my own experience traiting for my thief. So in my case this change is going to give me a lot more diversity in PvP that my little thief didn’t have before.
You can’t inspect any player in game so you have no idea which traits are used and which don’t either.
Lol is this some sort of endless loop? “You can’t know” is my entire point. Everyone needs to save their complaints until they have enough info to know what they’lre complaining about.
And thanks to communicating with other human beings, which doesn’t require the ingame UI, I actually CAN have an idea about what traits people are generally using and how they are using them. Communication ftw.
Perhaps Anet should just make 3 set-in-stone (non-configureable) builds for each profession that you can choose from, give each of these builds a unique name and advertise to the masses that “now there’s 27 professions!”
I’m sure everyone will gobble that up: “even more choice now!”
Actually this new system looks like it will be much better balanced than the old one. A game that is easier for the devs to balance can lead to better content too.
The same was said for reducing the number of skills available in GW2 compared to GW1 yet this is being brought up again. At what point will the system be small and simple enough for the devs to handle?
Do you actually want as many skills as they had in GW1? You need to read up on skill balancing in MMOs if you really don’t understand how over the top and out of control GW1’s skill pool was.

Because wait a few hours and see for yourself on the live stream.
None of us have any clear info right this minute and that’s my point. Wait until they give us info to go off of.
Wait like 2.5 hours and you’ll have your answer on the live stream.
The new system is MUCH different from the current system and we haven’t gotten a chance to feel it out and see how it will end up.
All the OP’s examples are centered around the way the current system and traits work, but the new systems function and trait details are getting totally overhauled.
You can’t make a valid arguement against apples by complaining about oranges.
No, you are wrong mister.
The new system is totally based on current system. There is a change, some tweaks and merges but this is still trait system of 5 lines with multiple traits. The difference is at the end the range of choice is going to be much lower.
The big factor is the separation of attributes from trait lines. This alone will give diversity a huge boost and will completely change up trait usage.
With the current system, you have to balance what traits you want with what attribute bonuses you also need to make your build viable. With the new system the choices are separate. Meaning, for instance, a thief who wants to spec for high critical hit won’t have to choose to use the traits that are currently in the precision line and can instead choose freely from all the other options without messing with their critical hit %.
Get the sprocket node for your home instance and try and keep a gathering bonus on the character you’ll be mining it with. Just keep your eyes out for a gathering banner or a heroes banner and try to save that character for just mining the nodes real quick so the gathering boost will last you a few days worth of logging in..
Necro in PvE is great. I can run around hitting up gathering nodes and if hostile NPCs come running at me my minions take care of them without me skipping a beat.

They post it for rewatch on youtube, if not on twitch within a week of the stream.
If you like small but not asura-small go sylvari. They can be the second shortest in the game. They also have great animations for thief acrobatics. I love my sylvari thief! I have a few accounts and I’ve made a thief on all of them. I’ve tried making a non-sylvari thief a few times but I always just delete it quickly and make another sylvari thief. They are just really fun to watch as you destroy your enemy.
I mean a female sylvari. I don’t really like the way male sylvari run, and can’t speak to whether or not they look cool doing thief acrobatics.
Here’s the advice I got for getting armor for your revenant. Get everything ready to crafting up non-insignia components for your armor. Once we get closer to release or upon release you can craft up the armor real quick based on which insignia seems best.
Start collecting/saving up the t6 materials for a few possible insignia choices so you’ll be ready. Once you’ve crafted the insignias you want, you can keep or sell the t6 mats you didn’t end up needing.
Park all your alts at the end of the jumping puzzle and keep at it. Also check on how to unlock the sprocket node in your home instance. You use the sprockets to turn blade shards into more shards. You can get a little this and that from doing the aetherblade related fractals also.
If things worked the way they did in beta Revanants would have extremely limited build customization options. They would ONLY be able to make up to 4 build choices (1-2 weapon choices and 2 legendary stances) That doesn’t seem like what’s going to happen.
Every other class gets to mix and match many different utility/heal/elite skills. And you unlock all that with skill points. Revenants would have a lot of extra skill points and a very small amount of customization.
I’m sure the utilities were hard set only for demo purposes just like the only weapon sets they gave access to were hammer and mace/axe.
I think you meant OCD.
I think I didn’t.
OCD (to me) would be obsessively nailing down a look until you think it’s perfect. I don’t even think that’s possible for me, given how few armor sets I actually like the aesthetic of.
ADD (to me) would be deciding on a look, changing it 30 min later, and then 30 min later again.
So which one have you been diagnosed with by a medical professional and which one are you just talking about like it’s a feeling or mood you can choose to let happen?
As someone with ADD and who has lived with a person with OCD, I’d say your problem isn’t either. (to me) It seems like you’re turning actual mental disorders into trivial adjectives.
Instead, it sounds like you might just have a hoarding problem. Like how I never use the black lion goods I get from random dailies and completion chests and they just stack up in my bank.
Either that or you’ve got a great opportunity to buy more weapons/armor and give them a special look.
Try buying exotic “pearl” skinned weapons. THAT will get you to use your transmute stones right away. (Sorry to the person who designed them, but those things are pretty ugly)
The idea of loot automatically entering your inventory as long as it’s not full seems like a convenient idea, but the only big problem I can think of is…well…I can’t really think of a problem this would cause for gameplay.
When the “Interact” key is used for so many things, it can get a bit troublesome in the middle of battle to be picking up loot at the same time you’re interacting with other things.
I’ve been playing engineer recently and have been mixing things up picking up my turrets when I meant to pick up loot and vice versa.
Also in WvW you get people not releasing to spawn when they really really should to get back in the action to help their server because they’re hoping for a slim chance they’ll get ressed and be able to pick up loot bags laying around them.

They ARE releasing stuff regularly. Strange to see this post right after they released a regular batch of hype. You might want to look into their weekly Point of Interest streams also.
They’re not going to give us notice ahead of time on what hype they release. With this batch of trolls you’d see a bunch of people complaining about Hylek blogs for a week before it actually posted if you gave them a schedule. Unfortunately the complaint trolls must be kept at bay.
How about you let ANET speak for themselves? Let’s see how often they care for these posts, and what they think about it.
Or are you getting paid for defending their system? Then I understand.
I think OP made a good point, she/he even used an example. At least I agree with her/him.
I’m just defending reason. No reason for ANet to respond to a senseless complaint thread. You can agree with OP, but I still think asking for news right after we get news and ignoring all the weekly POI videos and pretending we don’t get details about the game is a pretty sloppy arguement.
When you see an asterisk right next to a word, it means there’s a footnote, usually at the bottom of the article or lower down, that clarifies a statement that could be misunderstood.
If you read those footnotes before creating useless threads, you can avoid misunderstanding and the creation of useless threads.
The more you know,..
If you all are THIS troubled by the game not being exactly how YOU want it to be, it’s time to look into a career as a game designer. If you don’t want to go that route then you’re gonna have to learn to appreciate things made by other people.
Do ya’ll get this upset at everything when you go shoe shopping and can’t find the perfect shoes?
Oh I dunno the tiny little asuran thieves are also a hassle for me
Even though it’s not really about mouse targetting, at least on my client, characters in WvW will render in the distance before it displays their name and I see them running along in the far distance before I can tell if they’re friend or foe.
Sometimes I don’t notice them and suddenly realize there’s someone running along far over the way.
In those cases, roaming with a sylvari keeps you smaller and less noticeable at the max render distance where a big red name isn’t giving you away to the enemy.
You might try sylvari for the sake of roaming in small groups or alone.
As far as being in a big fight, it makes little to no difference. Depending on the quality of someone’s graphics card, you might just be rendering as a generic warrior model on their screen. On mine only SOME of the enemy renders non-generic when I’m fighting the largest zergs.
If you are switch weapons around after you have stacks you need to have a bloodlust weapon in the weapon set you’re not manipulating. If you have a bloodlust staff in your second weapon set you can switch around weapons in your first weapon set without losing the stack.
So if you don’t usually carry a bloodlust weapon in both weapon sets, you’ll have to put a bloodlust weapon in the alternate set temporarily while you manipulate the weapon set you want to change.
And yeah underwater combat won’t really be much of a thing until we join the quaggans in a few years to battle the deep sea dragon, but just invest in a bloodlust rune for one of your underwater weapons and then just forget about it and always keep that weapon equipped.
I have 4 accounts for the sake of laurels. I just can’t resist those $10 sales. I use laurels on my main account to buy ascended trinkets, the other 3 I use to get laurels for t6 mats. After I recently cashed in my laurels I got almost a full stack of all 8 t6 mats needed for making legendaries. Soon I’ll top of my stacks and be that much closer to a legendary.
And yeah having multiple accounts is nice if you can get two instances of the game running at once. I often use one account to mesmer portal characters from another account. Also one of my accounts is on the European WvW ladder so I can mix things up when I want to get some change from the regular matchups in the NA WvW ladder.

I could use some aviator glasses. Maybe in the summer…
Thief is good for both PvE and WvW roaming. My thief is my main and I find it very versatile in both situations.
Necro can do well in PvE and it’s useful in WvW though I can’t personally speak to the particular strategies of roaming with a necro as opposed to running in a big commander group. It’s fun to run necros regardless of what you’re doing.
Mesmer has a bunch of utility in WvW and there are many videos on youtube of mesmers who really know what they are doing dominating enemy players while roaming.
For mesmer in PvE, it can be a bit wonky to level up, but once you get there you have a few options once you can get some traits unlocked.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_S/S_/F_/P
I recently came across the above build and I run a modified version of it in general PvE even though it’s marked for dungeon use. It’s the quickest killing PvE mesmer build I’ve come across and I’ve started PvEing with my mesmer a lot more after discovering this. Before then my mesmer was a big drag in PvE battles.
If you have just one character slot you’re looking to use up, make each class one at a time and spend a little time playing around in Heart of the Mists and sPvP matches to get a feel for the classes. That’d be a great place to start since you have everything unlocked in sPvP.

Sometimes I feel like it’s wrong for so many of my characters to be sylvari. Then I make a non-sylvari character and end up rerolling it as a sylvari anyway.
ArenaNet is a company. Companies are owned by investment groups and millionaires and billionaires who demand results from the staff. They have a plan and know what they’re doing with releasing info.
They could’ve easily delayed the announcement and not told us about HoT, but they chose to based on proven marketing strategies and also based on their own estimated timeline.
There’s no way to tell how far along they are. But there are many reasons to not reveal all information right away. One is marketing, and other is because they’ll be hammering out fine details that may change up until the final stages of development. Announcing something only to change it later would upset and/or confuse people.
The release date for Guild Wars 2 was announced only 2 months before it launched. It was quite a surprise to me. Their “when it’s ready” approach has been consistent through the years and there’s really no way to clearly tell how soon it will be.
It’ll probably come sooner than you plan and catch you off guard. That’s what the initial release did to all of us.
Reading other people’s responses I think seeing other people who are using it with airplane arms would be just fine and maybe better than seeing everyone in the whole map with airplane arms.
Anything but only yourself.
What would be really fun would be roaming around with a party full of airplanes in WvW. Everyone in the party could interact with the box to see each other with airplane arms and fly around the map having fun together as a squad of bombers :P
by checking at anet snail process. if we lucky may get Hot at the end of this year or early 2016
April now already. start testing pvp strong hold.
still no news for new weapon. no news for new map detail. no news for extra weapon for each class. etc
and still have few more beta to run. and few more month wait after everything ready. maybe release on 2016.
If you don’t even know that they have confirmed no new weapons and explained that the spears in the trailer were JUST an artistic decision made by the cinematic team, you haven’t read up on even the slightest bit of HoT news.
So why are you complaining about not having enough info about the game if you haven’t even bothered to read up on some of the first basic information we learned about the game?
There’s been news on ALL the topics you said there’s “still no news on”.
You come in here complaining and full of grump for no good reason. You could’ve been civil and just made a thread asking about all that stuff you thought there was “still no news on”.
Don’t complain about HoT when you hardly care about it enough to do some basic reading up on.
The Bobblehead shows everyone with bobbleheads on YOUR screen regardless of if they CHOOSE to interact with it.
I figured this thing would act the same, turning EVERYONE into airplanes. Not sure why it wouldn’t.
One of the fun things about bobbleheads is running around with other people who have also used it and being able to comment on how people look when they do certain things.
Hope they fix it so everyone shows as airplane mode on your own screen when you use it.
I have a sylvari on all my accounts. It’s just the best race. I don’t forsee making another sylvari but then again I will have an extra character slot since I already bought a slot for a Revenant so I could reserve the name.

The post says “local” in the title and then specifies that local means Seattle/Bellevue in the message.
The survey also says they’re looking for people who live in the Greater Seattle area at the very top if you actually read the webpage starting from the top.
You can still always fill out the survey if you derive pleasure from being rejected. :P

I’m assuming Lion’s Arch gets it’s overhaul before HoT release. They probably don’t want new players to come in for HoT and be thoroughly unimpressed with the current torn-up garbage pile of a main hub city we got going on right now.
Also cleaning up Lion’s Arch gets less new people asking about it and learning about all the Scarlet content they don’t get a chance to participate in. Less of that means less people griping about no Season 1 retcon for players who missed it.
Not sure. Maybe they never figured people would want to salvage them. I’ve got a few ascended drops but they were both rings. If they made the rings salvagable what would they drop?
Maybe once all the crafting professions get a 500 option they’ll make ascended salvagable.
It is a good question. Maybe there’s some exploitative thing people could do with the salvaging somehow. Or maybe they figured too many people would rage from not getting what they wanted when they salvaged.
It could be because of infusions. Maybe they don’t want people using infusions and then passing them around or reselling them. The whole earn your own infusions or pay tons o money for them might be one of the ways they keep the system balanced and have some hardset gold sinks.
Just guessing but who knows.
Yeah…I know everyone says full zerker. It just seems so wrong! :P All those other insignias getting the short end of the stick.
Well I’m more like going for something that my mains could use but would still be viable for sharing the armor with my alts. But I can see celestial as maybe not being the best for that.
One reason I was thinking of celestial for Ascended was because celestial armor is timegated because of the charged quartz crystals. I thought it’d be annoying to make celestial armor twice if I could just make it once for each weight class.
What about a warrior in fractals. What insignia would be best for that? If I’m just gonna make one heavy set I might as well make it what’s best for my fractal warrior.
A gone guild is gone. The grawl come in and take the spoils back to their huts and caves to fund their Edge of the Mists champions.
For pure roaming I like running my warrior with high mobility and some damage resistance to give me time to get the heck out of dodge if things get too hot.
Thief is good if you’re hunting players or sneaking around to take objectives without noticing. The only problem I’ve found with thief is that the builds that are most effective at taking objectives are weak vs. players, and vice versa.
If you’re wanting to both fight players AND flip camps effectively you’ll have to switch your build around on the fly a lot.
UNLESS someone else knows a thief build that is both good vs. supply camps AND 1v1’ing.
Ranger I can’t think of what I would do with it roaming solo. I feel like ranger is great in a small team though.
Are you talking about European Tier 1 or North American Tier 1? That’ll be the first place to start.
Howdy. I’ve got a lot of alts and I was thinking of making 3 sets of ascended armor, one for each weight class that I can keep in my bank and let any of my characters use. I’d want it to be something versatile that would work for all my less-played alts who don’t have tons of specialized armor/weapon sets, but still maybe something useful for my main classes; thief, ranger, mesmer, necro, and warrior.
What do ya’ll think I should make the stats for each weight class? The focus would be on versatility for various builds classes I might run in PvE or otherwise.
Heavy: Celestial
Medium: ???
Light: Celestial
I felt like celestial is generic enough it would get me through 80 content smoothly on any character but I wasn’t sure if there’d be a better option for Medium weight armor. Would a thief be able to make use of celestial armor?
