In WvW there’s are a lot of cliffs here and there. If people are sniping you from above you just gotta run away and try to evade/block any attacks they’re sending at you.
Seems like they’re probably just cheesing around if they are camped there. Best thing to do would be to try and get other people in the map to help you come take them out by going around the cliff and attacking them from above in turn.
When people post a guild recruitment message in map chat, how long do you think they should wait until they post another recruitment message?
I haven’t had any issues with this, but was thinking of making a guild and I don’t want to be rude when trying to recruit. I’ve never really put a clock to how often other guilds post recruitment messages so I’m not sure how frequent would be too spammy.
I think it’s a response thread to some other thread about monthly subscriptions. I dunno. You go back through old posts you could probably find these kinds of discussions happening over and over again.
I’d like a brawling class too. It was considered for one of the expansions in GW1 from what I heard. Who knows they might eventually bring it out. No new weapons this expansion but maybe at a later time.
In this season of Living Story the air master is a brawler, so perhaps they’re thinking about putting in a hand/foot fighter eventually.
When they say no new weapons, maybe they’ll still bring out a skill set for each class for when you don’t have weapons equipped!
If you want to play something that is similar to doing martial arts, there are some warrior weapon sets and utilities that are very physical and involve a lot of blocking and knocking down of your opponent. Dual Mace. Also ranger sword and dagger is all about evading and jumping around vs your enemy.

With so many free to play games paying a sub seems outdated unless it’s a game that has a lot more going on than other games or is extremely unique in comparison to other games.
Take EVE Online. It’s a sandbox MMO where you have freedom to do all kinds of things including be a criminal and scam other players or hunt people down and kill them. It’s a unique experience.
Most MMOs have about the same features and it’s just about the fine details of the content separating one game from another. There’s no good reason at all to pay a sub fee for an MMO these days unless it is extremely unique to other games.
GW2 and other games has proven that a cash-shop system can be done without ruining the game. (though of course some games HAVE ruined the game with a cash shop, but a lot of that is in the past)
I wouldn’t pay a sub for GW2 or almost any other MMO because there’s no reason for game X to charge a sub when game Y can give me just as much content without a sub.
It’s not that I don’t want to give ANet my money. I spend plenty in the gem store that probably equates to the cost of a yearly sub or more. But I get to freely choose when I give them my money. And each time I give my money and spend gems it’s a targeted message of support for what they’re doing at that time.
Instead of paying by default, ANet has to constantly impress or entertain us to keep us spending money in the gem store. It’s good for the consumers. Somewhat bad for gamblers and compulsive buyers though. >.<
Any SAB pets are annoying as hell. I shouldn’t have to mute the entire game just so I won’t have to hear a spider repeatedly breakdancing. I don’t actually know if those spiders are really common or if it’ls just the same old kittenheads standing around by the TP all the time. Balthazaar blast those kitten ed minis! >.<
We need some kind of sound slider for noisemaker items OR just disable their sound within a radius of most frequent NPCs like the TP agents and Bank agents and other massed locations.

Only way you’re gonna be a dwarf is if they have a Guild Wars 0 Prequel game or something. The Lore has spoken!
I got the last Logitech G602 on the shelf. I love it as it’s the spiritual descendent of the Logitech MX mice I had used before. It’s the only mouse I found that can fit my hand well.
Apparently there are two ways people hold mice. Once is the “claw” grip and the other is the palm grip. If you palm your mouse like me look into some Logitech mice or wider mice otherwise.
The Naga mice are for “claw” gripping people. I had one and gave it away because it just didn’t work with the way I hold my mice.
I use costumes all the times on my alts if not on my mains. I can’t have my alts looking ugly as I get them clashing mix-n-match armor while they level up!
All ANet has to do is want to fix the price of Damask, and they will. I guess they don’t want to. It’s a bummer for those of us who can’t afford that ridiculous amount of gold, but it’s not really breaking the game.
This has been discussed…a LOT. If they intend to fix it, just sit back and wait. If they don’t intend to change anything, it’s time to learn how to cope.
What is one shot?
Honestly everyone was saying Mursaat but when I saw the teaser with the floating creatures they seemed more Margonite-esque. If Margonites are demon-esque maybe the Exalted are the “angel-esque” counterparts?
Well one of the goals of the Mursaat was to keep the Titans contained. They used humans to that end in a way that was less than morally steady. I don’t expect to see anything about the White Mantle since they were kind of dealt with a long time ago but who knows.
After all, it wasn’t that the Mursaat were allied with the White Mantle. The Mursaat were just using the White Mantle. Maybe people who got more into the lore revealed in the Realm of Torment area of Nightfall could have more insight otherwise.
Let’s make bug reports for fixing the fourth dye slot, yes yes?
I can’t figure out what the fourth dye channel is! (The one on the bottom right) I’ve changed it on multiple characters of multiple races and can’t figure out what that fourth dye channel changes. >.<
Oh lol Dry Top dust storms made my PC cry when it first released. I got a slightly better graphics card and then things were okay again. My current PC is like 5-6 years old with just some extra RAM and a slightly better graphics card and things are running well. I just have some slow load times but I think it might be my harddrive crapping out. I run it on mostly high settings.
Given how old my PC is, I think HoT probably won’t be too harsh once they get some optimization done. I’m still planning on building a new PC though so I can enjoy the Jungle in it’s fullest beauty!
I don’t think you read that quite right….try reading again…i don’t think i said about scaming anything…but that’s just me..
Akagami, even if you didn’t say anything about being scammed, many people else here have been saying it sounds like you got scammed. And in general what they were saying to you was that you shouldn’t do mail trades with people you don’t know because of the risk of getting scammed.
Then, one of your posts seemed to say that the person you sent the expensive item to was a friend of yours.
Thus, Ashen replied that if the person that you just sent the item to was a friend of yours, then they aren’t a really good friend because they just scammed you.
Well since it’s not clear how they handle reports I’ll keep reporting my way.
I mean if 10 people report one player, it wouldn’t make business sense if it makes 10 reports that possibly 10 different people look at separately. With that in mind I’m guessing it just flags a region of the chat log or something more efficient than creating individual reports. That would really add up when you consider how often people say stupid stuff. :P
However their system works, I like to report each line to make it clear what I’m seeing that’s problematic. In the case of people saying hateful things or using oppressive/harassing language, I want to try and make it clear what kind of “verbal abuse” I’m taking issue with.
When it’s an instance of verbal abuse, I will report the player for each chat message they send that is abusive.
I don’t if the game notes which chat line I right click on to select report, but I will select the player’s name next to each chat line they send that contains verbal abuse or scamming or whatever the offense may be, and report them for each one.
Also there’s no telling for sure but they probably respond faster if multiple players report the same instance. So go ahead and report away freely each time you see something going on.
Also though it’s good to say something in chat if you feel comfortable to let the player know they are saying something problematic, so that gives them a chance to recognize the issue and stop and/or apologize.
But sometimes when you ask someone to stop saying something offensive, they will just start being more offensive. That just gives you more stuff to report them for so they’ll be dealt with faster.

With projectiles there is also terrain height to consider. If there is no red bar then you should be fine regardless, but sometimes I hit things with my ranger’s bow even when there is a red bar under the skill.
Also if you are closing the gap on the target of a projectile then sometimes if you shoot the projectile while you are out of range it will sometimes hit if you are in range by the time the projectile gets closer to your target. Or at least that’s what seems to happen for me. It could always be lag-related where my range indicator isn’t 100% in sync and doesn’t update as in range right away.
Oh god if the guardian specialization is called Monk I’d be so happy because I named my guardian after my GW1 monk!
I’m looking for Dwayna now!
It’s just part of playing a game with thousands of people. I can take over half an hour to name a character and sometimes I just cancel creation and come back later until I find the perfect name.
If you’re obsessed with name perfection like me you gotta accept that sometimes it’ll take a while to get the perfect name.
The endgame is having fun. All this leveling up crap is only in the game because ANet knew most players wouldn’t understand a game without levels.
You level up to 80 and THEN the game begins. You’re just in the pregame now.
Once you’re at level 80 you can get various armor for the looks or for the stats to allow you to optimize in different situations. You can do various PvE content like dungeons or exploring or just having fun with event chains. If you want a challenge in PvE, you can do Fractals of the Mists. It’s a dungeon where the difficulty scale goes up and up and rewards you well if you make it to the higher level stuff.
In World vs. World you’re doing a week long battle with your server against two other servers. There are all kinds of things you to can do to help your server control the maps.
In structured PvP, you can hone your personal skills in a 5 vs. 5 matchup and be really competitive if you like or just enjoy playing casually and get rewards from the reward track system.
The goal of the game is to enjoy yourself. Once you get to level 80 you can flesh out your characters skills and traits and armor and then do things you enjoy or face challenges.
wrong forum and also needs a full thread delete.
The first one is a fighting pit. I wouldn’t call it jail, more like…some kind of sentient rights violation, lol. (as opposed to “human rights violation” :O )
Lol maybe he is the best. Did he win a tournament. You have his account name. Just report it with a bug report and mention you posted it on the forums so they can com see your screenshots.
Okay so, your account name…..what the hell?
That’s a bit messed up… Are you sure YOU aren’t in the beta, lol?
200 gold is much to me >.<
Anyway it’s not a good sign when you’re looking to other people to help you justify gambling. If you’ve come this far, your mind is already trying to tell you not to gamble. :P
The biggest issue is the mouse. It’s used to control your attacks AND your camera. You’ll have to bind buttons for your mouse buttons and you’d have to have some software to make the cursor move rapidly with the joystick.
No direct controller support because this game is more complex than FPS control styles. I’m not sure why OP is surprised there’s no controller support. They’s lucky it’s even a half-plausible idea for GW2. Imagine playing something like Aion with a controller.
No way to pop 4 different skill bars effectively with a controller unless you do some ridiculous programming to make every action a combination of multiple buttons to parse out actions like you’re trying to pop an alt code symbol.
I had a controller setup I rigged for playing GW1 but I could only do it casually. Not for playing difficult or intricate gameplay.
@OP
My minion master is not kitten, it’s THE kitten. Perhaps you’re just not playing it correctly.
Well if we wanna really keep up the speculation, they often put in mechanics in the game for all players to use in one area that are generally only available to one class otherwise. Such as the whispers stealth kits you can buy and the teleport/portal guns you can buy from NPCs. In this case you can walk up and grab a sniper along with the elite sylvari. It let’s everyone try out what maybe thieves can do to some extent with specialization. :O
I think thief will get rifle because people in the closed betas often “speculate” about what will happen and use indirect evidence like the trailer to try and spill the beans without technically breaking NDA.
Good to know Colin clarified one weapon per class. I haven’t had time to read every article and rewatch the videos I’ve seen. Thanks for the confirm, warbignime.
If downed state is giving you so much trouble, you’re in a crummy team. It punishes you for failing to coordinate without instantly making you lose all progress.
It balances the game vs. spike damage that can take a player to zero health fast but then is left in a weakened state. If there was no downed state, glass cannon builds could shoot teams down fast like ele-spike in guild wars 1 PvP.
Did they specifically say only one new weapon per class?
The officially announced weapons are both two-handed weapons. I’m wondering if a specialization that gets one new single-handed weapon might get a second as well?
Also is it clear that regardless, even the classes that get 2-handed weapons might get a second new weapon?
I’m wondering about each specialization getting one new 2-handed weapon and one new 1-handed weapon.
Server limits aren’t hard capped as far as I can tell. You can still get into many servers that say “full” often by switching when many people are logged off.
I’m all about quality over quanity.
They made progressively attractive skins to get you to feel the good ones were better on launch and give you some variation. But now they keep coming out with black lion weapon skins that they’ve put a lot of time into.
My hope is they focus on creating beautiful weapon sets one at a time and not flood the game with lots of useless and ugly ones. I’m looking at you, pearl weapons. >:(
Precursor skins unlock for legendary weapons?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Mo Mo.1947
I think you might get the previous new precursor skins unlocked but I’m not sure.
What I’m doing is preparing to make a legendary by gathering all the supplies except the precursor. Then once HoT comes out I’ll do the legendary journey to get the precursor and I’ll be good to go with my legendary right after.
So if a legendary is reskinned it keeps it’s original projectile and footfall effect?
What if you apply the legendary skin to another random weapon?
So I was beating up some Toxic Alliance and I noticed a “Toxic Assassin” spawn and start using a long-charging attack with a bow. And this made me think of the speculation about Thief getting rifle for long range focus. Could thief specialization be called “Assassin”?
Toxic Assassins are ranged specialists belonging to the Toxic Alliance. They are capable of dealing a large amount of damage at a distance.
Then if we look at some of the other Toxic Alliance sylvari:
Warrior -> Knight?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toxic_Knight
Guardian -> Bulwark?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toxic_Bulwark
Toxic Bulwarks are sylvari members of the Toxic Alliance that specialize in defensive abilities.
Elementalist -> Sorcerer?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toxic_Sorcerer
Toxic Sorcerers are Sylvari members of the Toxic Alliance that focus on supporting abilities.
Engineer -> Alchemist?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Champion_Toxic_Alchemist
Thief -> Assassin?

>>Just a little fun speculating!<<
(edited by Mo Mo.1947)
Alright that’s a good plan! I’ll just stack up mats for the basic components then save up on a few of the components for various armor.
Hey I was wondering what people who were in the beta would recommend for Revenant armor?
How about Sinister?
I’m trying to get things prepped for my Revenant, got the tomes ready and now I’m trying to make some armor for it so wondering how I should stat it.
Thanks for any advice!
I need the stalwart shoulderpads too. I need them BAD. I would pay 800 gems for just the shoulder pads. Please dear Dwayna throw us a bone.
If you die, try and remember how you died. And try not to die again. It’s sometimes disappointing to not get ressed in the middle of a big event.
But if you find this happening to you all the time, then you’re just dying all the time. Instead of asking ANet to make some policy that makes people res you, ask people how you can avoid dying all the time…
Was Admiral Ackbar evil for leading the Rebel fleet into an ambush?
Ackbar was the first to admit that it was a trap, but it was too late. No one could have known.
Let’s not forget that this whole post was started simply because someone didn’t res OP when they felt they deserved to be ressed.
I died in the middle of a jumping puzzle last night. One of those stone heads that shoots flames. I think I’m gonna start a thread to complain about all the people doing the JP that ran by and didn’t stand in the middle of the cone of flame I died in and res me so I wouldn’t have to waypoint back.
Oh good. Glad to see the April Fool’s joke was successful in force-quitting an over-complainer. The kind of people who don’t have anything better to do than to hate on an April Fool’s day joke make a bad environment for brand new players.
