Even without saying the words “veteran loyalty”, veteran loyalty is implied by your suggestion of them saying “this is the revised offer: vets get free slot with pre-purchase”.

A reward for vets is a reward for veterans who remain loyal to the game by prepurchasing.

I think you’re just caught up on the wording. They made this new offer in response to large outcry from veterans about not getting a reward for their loyalty.

By bringing up “veteran loyalty” in their community address they’re saying, hey yeah you’re right we’re gonna give you something for being loyal customers and sticking with the game for so long.

Just coming out and saying, “oh yeah, so we revised the offer and current accounts can get an extra slot” could just as easily come across as a quick shushing of the complainers. “Here take your character slot and move on, thanks.”

Any kind of statement they make could be interpreted a few different ways. Both good and bad.

I read your OP. You seem to think that treating customers well is somehow wrong if paired with bringing in more profit.

Why do you think it’s wrong that they want veteran players to pre-purchase the game? You’re right it’s just a revised offer, but the purpose of the revised offer is to maintain “veteran loyalty”. a.k.a. keep the customers they have so they will keep spending money on the game.

What you seem to be doing is calling out a business for wanting more customers and not wanting to lose the customers it has. If they make a bad marketing choice and change it to a wise marketing choice I don’t understand how that’s disingenuous.

What is wrong with wanting to get veterans to want to purchase the expansion?

ANet gives the patron consumers what they’re asking for and all the sudden it’s a conspiracy that ANet, a business, expects to generate more sales by making this offer?

Hey guys, just wanted to express something thats been bugging me a bit.

It seems lots of people believe that items they missed out on should come back so they have another chance at it again. I completely disagree with this.

I mean sure, there has been some stuff I wish I had gotten but missed out on but for the people that did get it, it adds a certain sentiment and value. What’s the purpose of releasing something everyone will get. It’s like the old saying goes " if everyone has it, no one has it."

Exclusive items should remain exclusive. People can already get cool flashy skins via the legendary weapon system, trading post, rare drops and even a few cool crafting options. Bringing ALL the cool stuff back here and there really devalues a players time and effort.

TL:DR exclusive items that were available in the past shouldn’t be brought back just because people are unhappy they didn’t get it.

What do you guys think?

I’m almost completely supportive of your opinion, but seriously I need the Stalwart Shoulder Skin to come back because almost all of the medium armor shoulder skins are complete garbage and I need something good on my shoulders to match the rest of my awesome armor combos.

So I’m building a PC and decided on the MOBO/CPU and want to just throw the rest together for now with basic parts that I can upgrade over time.

I need advice on a basic PSU/Case/Cooling system.

Wondering if anyone who has bought the pre-purchases can clarify if you get the character slot (Deluxe) or gems (Ultimate) or any of the other items listed as bonuses as soon as you pre-purchase or if you have to wait until HoT releases to gain access to these things?

To be fair to reality, none of this would’ve happened if people hadn’t have demanded an expansion. Why would people play a game that says it will never have an expansion and then demand an expansion.

I never wanted an expansion. They never wanted it either.

You gotta give them a little leeway for completely switching gears to enact a business model that was the exact opposite of what they were planning on when they launched the game.

People should’ve stopped begging for what the game wasn’t and instead been asking for more of what made the game great on launch.

Yeah you could’ve waited, but then you wouldn’t have all the mad laurels I’ve been getting from my alt accounts this whole time.

For me the price isn’t the issue. The issue is the unpolished garbage UI and a vague list of deluxe bonuses without even a proper picture to show them off on the website or in-game.

What I’m looking at makes me lose confidence in the expansion itself. I would easily pay $50 for an expansion I would expect to enjoy. But I don’t want to if the expansion is as poorly shod together as the crummy broken window they’re trying to use to sell it to me.

The prob is, if you are competitive in any way in-game (and I’m not for ref), you will stop being so in a very short time. At least that’s my take on the new content as it relates to PvP, WvW, or even if you just want to be able to sell at comp prices on the TP – you will prob be fubared.

Well luckily for anyone who doesn’t buy the expansion, the PvP is garbage anyway. I love Tyria and ANet but they’ve never been even close to making an actual eSport. sPvP is fun until you play another small team competitive game and you notice how unimpressive the PvP really is compared to what other people are producing.

GW1 PvP was fun. GW2 sPvP is not nearly what it could be. You can still enjoy the parts of the game that function well without the expansion. :P

The ingame UI is garbage and broken, it has tiny pictures I can’t find large versions of online. Why couldn’t they even take the tiny trouble of posting a full sized pic on their website? kitten …

Still waiting for the OP to explain what is illegal about the pricing? The pricing isn’t satisfactory. The bonus items are garbage. They could have my $75 if they put in items that were actually appealing and went through the trouble of posting full size images of the bonus items… Seriously how hard is it to post full size images?

Where are the full sized images of those tiny tiny tiny tiny thumbnails is shows of the bonus items? Seriously why would they not put them on the pre-purchase page of the website? All that’s there is the video…

Remembering isn’t the issue. I have a Word document listing all pet names, including some IC mini names for reference during RP., and I can bring that up on a second monitor The issue is having the name reset so you can’t quickly swap around between pets without ending up with Juvenile Whatever roaming at your side if you’re pressed for time.

It’s a QoL thing.

Even if you were coming from an RP perspective, I can’t see how this is a severe QoL issue. How often do you change one or both of your equipped pets? I’m not sure how changing your pets continuously is necessary even in WvW. In PvE of course it’s so easy you shouldn’t really need pet changes all the time.

Hey though, it would be nice to save names. But I just don’t think it’s a big deal.

Given the speculation that thief spec will get Rifle, (making it a gun specialist) I’m guessing our beloved trait might make a beautiful reappearance in the thief spec trait lines.

Last time they were hiding trait lines and other unannounced content. They are hiding things like the specialization names which they accidentally didn’t hide for the elementalist and wound up revealing the name Tempest.

So they were just hiding things like that again so we don’t see spec names before they are officially revealed.

Just take a screenshot of your pet names if you can’t remember them and make a mashup picture in Windows Paint to remember each name for each pet.

Honestly if you can’t remember the name you’ve given each pet, it must not be that important to you. I have something I always name certain pets, and I just rename them to that when I switch to them.

As easy as it might seem to add something like this, however they program the game opens it up to all kinds of bugs every time they add a minor thing. There have been multiple instances of an update to one part of the game creating random bugs for all sorts of other parts of the game.

The specializations are already far into development. Asking for a weapon won’t get it to ya this late in the game.

Is this some nuance of the Living Story I missed? Where does it say Mr. Sparkles and Garm weren’t taken on the mission?

I use my tag in both PvE and WvW all the time. It helps organize people. That’s it’s main function and it’s useful no matter where you are.

Was it not your normal character glow coming through the armor? Like with the medium strider armor where your character’s leg glow shows through the mesh part of the legs and back.

I would try and find a video on youtube showing the armor to see if it’s glowing on someone else’s machine. If you can find visual confirmation that it happens then you’ll know it’s something about your machine that prevents the glow.

So will you always have an active legend? With racial skills and the Anti-Toxin Spray I’m wondering if there’s ever a point when you can have no legends channeled and use either racial skills or maybe some other random Revenant utility slot skills?

I would think, as with other masteries, there might be a racial mastery line. Perhaps you can use generic mastery points or maybe you’ll have to do challenges in your home area to earn them. It’d be strange if they removed all racial skills entirely…

So did the bug affect GW1? Not sure why they can’t program something to verify GW1 progression and then sync/overwrite actual progression with all linked GW2 accounts. Why would an actual person be required to check each account?

The game doesn’t begin until level 80. You don’t have access to your full character’s potential and you can’t invest into real development of your character through skills and traits and armor and weapons until you reach max level.

At the same time, at max level you can go back and experience all the low level content enjoyably because of the level scaling in PvE.

Being max level gives you more freedom to do whatever you want, where ever it is in the game.

You can’t make challenging content. You can only make new unexpected content. Once a bit of time has passed people figure out a strategy to defeat the new unexpected content and it then you no longer experience the simulated “challenge”.

They would have to constantly rewrite the AI or redo boss skills and sequences to simulate “challenging” content.

The only challenging content you can experience is competitive play with another player around the same skill level as you.

It’s good to do when doing something else. Or if you like to get some tradition grind in like you’re playing an oldschool MMO.

It’s kind of bizarre on my human necro. Looks like my char is blocking with the axe rather than attacking with it.

Make absolutely no response and it will get boring for the troll fast.

Most all the names suggested are just as inconsistent with the spec play style and lore as Dragonhunter. Seeing all the horrible suggestions, the name “dragonhunter” is starting to grow on me.

I think they maybe just did a poor job of revealing it and should’ve focused more on the story motivations of a dragonhunter rather than make it all cheesy-crowd-pleasey.

I don’t have a mac but I could’ve sworn there was a thread or group of threads discussing the mac client. You should try and find that thread and see what people have to say there.

It’s best that ANet not respond, at least not until they come out with all the rest of the specs.

Responding to this might spur people on complain about future specs. (Though so far very little protest has been made regarding the other specs) If our displeasure is focused on the dragonhunter, it will make it all the other spec names seem not as bad.

Yes. Which I have the right to do. I am a customer and I am unsatisfied. The amount of time and effort I put into obtaining a portal, not to mention the fact that I bought and have continued to spend money on the game, means that I have the right to complain. This isn’t some service ANet is doing for me out of the goodness of their heart. This is a transaction. I don’t get paid for testing their product and I will still have to purchase the final version. So yes, I am going to complain.

Actually it IS a service they are doing you giving you a chance to be in a beta. If it wasn’t a service you wouldn’t feel so upset about the “bad service” you feel you’ve received.

And they’re really recruiting YOU to do a service for THEM. The betas aren’t on the weekends for that reason. They want people dedicated to the game in the beta, not just casual weekenders.

Underwater combat needs an extreme makeover that’s only justifiable once they go for the deap sea dragon.

The problem we’re having is that they’ve used too many possible names for NPC characters and factions.

Most unfortunately, the most open yet definitively fitting name for this class is “Ranger”…

Don’t know why people are thinking LA would be destroyed by a few karka. It took a massive ley line drill last time.

They are rebuilding LA because it’s a ridiculous plot hole for newer or returning players that only confuses those who haven’t played Living Story 1.

Also for a hub city it’it’s not well organized right now or before the destruction. Not too impressive to new players. And even old players a lot of us don’t like beat up looking places as a primary game location.

Also key binds are saved on your account, it’s just machine specific things like graphics and audio settings that will reset when doing a clean install

Hax? You shouldn’t be able to make a character with a name that long. O.o Do Europeans get a higher character limit? It’s 19 for the NA client.
