I’m mastery level 15 and I had an entire week off at game release where I played GW2 a whole lot more than I should’ve.
You’ve just been playing the game in a very grindy way while I was just doodling around having too much fun gliding. You’re burnt out. Take a break and come back in a few days. Or play the game in a less grindy way for a while. Take some time to explore or do some storyline stuff on your alts.
Given the amount of time it takes to collect stacks of tomes, tome leveling is scarce enough for this to not be a big issue.
There’s an increase in tome leveling right now with the release in the game, but mostly you just gotta not stand around afking at the bank in sPvP and you won’t run into them much.
A Berenstain conspiracy within the game?
I’d like more of the human hairstyles found in the original Guild Wars Prophecies. I have some human characters made after my Guild Wars 1 characters and they are oh so sad that they can’t have the same hair they did 250 years ago.
I think you’d be better off selling your time. Offering to help someone unlock a guild hall by temporarily joining their guild.
I have a one person guild. How much would you and your companions charge to help do the initial taking of a guild hall?
Thought Rytlock was the first Revenant?
Honestly based on the concept art for the Revenant I was under the assumption that Razah was the first revenant.
Razah is a Ritualist ( unless you change his profession ). And that isn’t Razah’s concept art. Unless I’ve missed something somewhere.
Razah starts as a ritualist but can change to any profession. He’s a tabula rasa.
I don’t know who is in that revenant picture but they look to have grey skin and tattoos all over just like Razah, so it makes me think whatever Razah was might have a connection to the lore behind how Rytlock learned to become a revenant.
The exp bar does a brightening animation when you first unlock the mastery, but I agree it’s easy to miss if you’re in the middle of a fight.
It will continue to glow a bit more white than usual until you unlock a mastery.
As far as I have seen you don’t lose the exp spill-over. If you got an entire extra level worth of exp maybe you would? I haven’t tested it but I feel like you wouldn’t lose it.
When I complete a mastery and unlock it with mastery points, I see the exp applied to the next mastery once I click to activate its training.
You talk to the very first one you encounter near the first waypoint. I got it to work by watching his scout video ALL the way through, then not pressing any buttons once it ended. I had to watch the cinematic twice, but the second time after it ended he popped up a dialogue that said something about the wings and gave me the skin unlock item.
It was worth playing for the 3 years it was out before the expansion.
I love the dreamer sound. Please keep it. It’s the perfect combo with the rainbow unicorn finisher.
Thanks for reminding me to work towards crafting The Dreamer.
Thought Rytlock was the first Revenant?
Honestly based on the concept art for the Revenant I was under the assumption that Razah was the first revenant.
I had to watch the whole dang cinematic like twice to get him to talk to me. Watch the scout cinematic and then don’t press anything after it ends and see if a dialogue is popped up for ya.
Did you use any macros to open the bags? Like if there wasn’t a server rollback I can only guess your inventory was rolled back automatically (I guess they could do that if they want) perhaps of they detected some sort of strange behavior on your clients end?
Ah true, for a split second Faolain had some character depth, then the next she was reduced to a mindless trope-ridden servant of Mordremoth.
Thanks for all the input. Based on what’s been said and my own history of using NVidia, I’ll look at some of the alternative NVidia’s suggested.
Has anyone come across Malyck in HoT? Is he out there something, consumed by Mordremoth or fighting against it?
I’d truly like to know how ol’ Malyck is doing, seeing as how he headed right towards the jungle in search of his home tree.
Anyone seen Malyck or heard about him in any dialogue?
I’m assuming the thread itself implies spoilers discussed so I won’t do spoiler buttons.
I was a bit surprised they’d just kill him off, but meh. I would’ve been pleased if Logan died… I made all the right storyline choices to set him up for death… but he didn’t die, so alas….
It’s pretty bad though thinking about the replies above that point out that it may be all Trahearne’s fault that everyone crashed to their deaths in the jungle… >.<
I think they killed him off because he was an odd choice for a leader to begin with. He even had dialogue multiple times in the personal story about how he didn’t feel up to the task and didn’t think it was his place. But the story team made him leader anyway for some reason…
PLOT TWIST? Given what I just said, is the real story that the Pale Tree set the Pact and Trahearne up for death by giving Trahearne and our character a vision of him leading the Pact. Ya’ll remember that right? Trahearne saw himself commanding in the Pale Tree’s vision and was like, this doesn’t seem like something I am capable of but I guess it’s what I’m meant to do….
Pale Tree’s dark secrets….
Hi, I don’t know much in depth knowledge about what makes the best hardware, but I’m looking to get a graphics card for around $200 and I’m wondering if anyone can give me some advice or comparison:
First, my PC’s specs:
CPU: Intel 5830k
Mobo: MSI X99S SLI Plus
Here’s what I’ve seen on Newegg tonight:
GTX 960 4GD5T Titanium OC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127898
It says “Titanium”, not “Ti”, and the internet seems to be talking about IF a 960 Ti will ever be released, with no reference to a GTX 960 Ti on the geforce website, so this is just calling itself “Titanium” but not actually a Ti release?
Also I found this video making fun of the 960 series for having a 128-bit memory interface instead of a 256-bit. Which gives me concerns.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zQ9VUNnKNU
So I started to look at 256-bit GPUs in my target price range.
*I found a link here for R9 380’s: *
https://www.quora.com/Should-I-get-the-GTX-950-the-GTX-960-or-the-R9-380
Seems to show the R9-380 is a better choice? But I can’t figure out which one is which? Also R9s are AMD? But I’m running an intel mobo? Do they work together?… I don’t know these things…
What is the function difference between these below? Only one says PCI-Express 3.0, but is PCI-Express 3.0 implied for all of them?:
R9 380 GAMING 4G LE 4GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127879
R9 380 GAMING 2G 2GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127876
R9 380 4GD5T OC 4GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127913
I don’t really know what all the “LE” or “4GD5T” stuff means. That last one though says it’s overclocked, but it doesn’t say PCI-Express 3.0 on the stats page so I can’t tell if it’s gonna work with my mobo.
I can’t figure out how to get more details on these cards because I know there are often multiple manufacturer’s of what seems to be the same card…
Any advice or recommendations on what I should get? Please? Right now I’m just using an old GPU and I’m thinking it’s getting tired since the HoT release.
Would be nice if Arenanet posted something on the official forums letting us know they are working on the issue that seems to have started after the last patch and when they expect to have it fixed. Its frustrating starting the client, then waiting to see if you get in or not.

If you’re having trouble connecting to the game, we’re aware and still investigating a fix. http://ow.ly/TYLMn ^RB

We will bring the servers down for maintenance in 20 minutes. Estimated downtime will be 30 minutes. Thank you for your patience. ^RB
If that shows up correctly at all, it’s a tweet saying they’re aware of the issue and working on it. So we just gotta sweat it out until then.

I was about to finish the final story mission >.< Guess it’ll wait until… some point in time…
With 20 alts, the 250 point change is quite welcome.
You don’t think it is ridiculous that you have to grind the same 5 events for several hours just to get gliding and jump mushrooms?
No. I’ve played games where you have to grind for literal days to gain one level.
How many times are people going to come in here and call the game grindy as if anything that isn’t instant gratification is grind?
The only things that you could argue are grind are optional bonuses and rewards that aren’t necessary. Those are there for the people who want to be hardcore.
It’s okay for hardcore players to have things you don’t. It’s okay to not have every new feature unlocked after 2 days of playing the expansion.
Is there no official response on this? Like it would really help if I could find out if this is a bug in the unlocking feature or if the wording on the achievement is wrong and we have to do something extra…..
I’m pretty sure you will stop showing as a guild dot if you stop representing your guild. Seeing as how there’s multi-guild chat now you can probably still see all guild chat even if you’re not representing any guild.
Same issue with Mistward armor not unlocking as others are having.
I tomed to level 80 in the tutorial zone. I’m now in post-tutorial just standing around… Fully unlocked revenant. (besides elite spec)
A lot of us saved up tomes to insta-level our revenant. I’m making two though so I can take it easy with another silly little rev.
Given the very vertical nature of HoT, it looks like a new feature to help you figure out the complex layers of maps, but that seems like a bug for sure. I’d just make a bug report. Where are you standing in the game when you hovered over that vista? If that is in feet, you’re like a mile and a quarter away from it! ^.^
Bonus character slots were released in waves. You should get one right away IF you purchased the deluxe or ultimate pack, otherwise your bonus free new slot will arrive soon enough when they release the next batch, depending on how many accounts signed up last minute and are in the queue for a new slot.
Factions is a completely different thing from HoT.
1. Factions was a campaign, meant to be completely standalone.
2. It was built on a simpler engine (read less advanced) and thus took less time and resources to develop new 3D content.
3. In Factions, they only had to develop new armor to fit one race, humans, and all armors only had to be optimized to fit the animations of a specific class that only had a certain set of class-specific animations.
Factions and HoT cannot be compared. The situations and structure of the two are completely different. You might as well be comparing Pac Man to Asteroids.

If you’ve been playing the game for a while your main characters should be good to go to unlock all the new trait lines. Yeah it won’t be too fun farming hero points, but that’s why you should just not farm hero points and play your alts as much as you enjoy them.
If your main character(s) don’t have enough points right away you’re pretty new to the game. The elite specs are for enhancing your fully developed level 80. Spend a little more time fleshing out your characters and you’ll be running that elite spec in no time.
I just got home and opened up GW2 and I just gotta say the new loading screen is on point. Such a beautiful thing to look at while I download the last few files before I can start playing.
Just as impactful and splendid as the original loader. I remember the first time I saw the original I had the same feeling of excitement that I had this time around.
Ya’ll know just how to start this new adventure.
Okay cool. When you split armor stats what’s the best way to do that? Like with Knight/Valk is helm, pauldron, chest → Knight and gloves, legs, boots → Valk? I’m not sure whether or not there’s a standard split when people talk about combo armor.
Howdy! I’m looking to craft some ascended heavy armor for my revenant (I haven’t crafted any heavy armor before this point) and I’m wondering, based on how things have been going in the betas, what stats would be a solid choice for Revenant?
I don’t have tons of money to make lots of ascended armors, and I’ve only crafted one set before for my thief, so I’m trying to figure out what stats would give me a solid playthrough running into HoT with a fresh-tomed level 80 revenant.
This isn’t a new concept that would confuse players about the structure of the game. Other games already have the same free-with-restrictions options. iirc WoW has a free account option.
It sure is good that Legendary equipment isn’t necessary.
Having trouble with grind? Go play the old Silkroad Online game and have fun leveling up.
Rangers can have two pets equipped at once. If you think they’ll get new pets, why not keep the ones they have?
Lol how did such a simple question become such a bizarre and off-topic arguement!?
Why are people argueing about lore or text-book definitions of the word “guild”? O.o
I have a personal storage guild. (For those who don’t know what a storage guild is, it’s used for storing items, lol) The guild dolyak is going away. Having a guild dolyak to access my storage guild’s storage is quite a nifty feature I thought would be fun to unlock. Do all the lore and Webster zealots understand now?
Thanks to all of you that offered advice! It was hard to find in the middle of all the nonsense others posted. :P
all the new HoT changes are is a nerf to solo players. Any other player in a guild just asks their friends to represent their personal guild while building their personal guild bank, then rotate to the next person.
So in effect, all Anet did was prevent solo folks from getting the same personal guild bank that other people will ‘exploit’ to get..
I have two tiers of guild storage unlocked on my storage guild and I didn’t use other friends to do it. I used the influence tomes you get from starting a new account for the first tier and for the second tier I just plain bought the influence I needed with some gold.

Hey so I have a one person guild for storage that my 5 (yeah 5… >.<) accounts are all a member of.
I remember reading that some guild unlockables are going away in HoT, like the dolyak transport. I was thinking of getting some of this unlocked just for fun, but summoning a yak costs one merit point.
Are there any ways a one person guild (possibly logging into multiple accounts (two at once max)) could get merit? Can I get merit by somehow piggy-backing on other guilds missions? Can I get merit for that?
Bringing a new race requires a lot of retro refitting of ALL current armors and outfits. That’s a TON of work required all for the sake of content that ISN’T new. After that point, all new armors and outfits would have to be fitted to one additional race, that’s 20% more work on each armor and outfit.
For this reason, a lot of voices in the community don’t actually want a new race because it would take away from time that could be spent on fully new content.
The game and company would have to grow a lot more to be able to justify the amount of labor that goes into creating a new race.
A new race would be fun, but it would really only be an aesthetic addition. And we have plenty of aesthetic options already spread across all 5 current races.
I have been having this issue for the past few days. Just now it happened when I was booted from EotM after the match was over.
At the same time I am unable to access the guildwars2 wiki to even read details about the error.
Sorry! This site is experiencing technical difficulties.
Try waiting a few minutes and reloading.
Given I don’t see more people talking about this, I can’t tell if this is actually server side or not. I don’t have my firewall blocking anything to do with GW2. In fact I just installed my OS and I’m currently not blocking anything… Not sure why this is happening…
Ah, well that might be what they meant. Might.
But you earn reward track points and level your rank simultaneously. I think they scale the same if they aren’t actually the same amount of points. So I’m still unclear about how it works but that’s a possibility.
The new article about PvP changes in HoT is unclear to me about the details of rank finishers.
It seems to say you’re starting fresh at rabbit rank with a new version of rabbit and so on going up, but I’m unclear about what will happen with the previous rank finishers.
I haven’t reached dragon rank yet so I’m now unclear whether or not I’ll be able to unlock the vanilla rank finishers. It says if you own HoT you’ll get the new finishers, but what if I want the old ones first??
They stack to be inconvenient so you’ll either craft mystic salvage kits, buy the silver and copper-o-matic gem store salvage kits, or go back to the merchant frequently to empty your inventory.
I don’t actually know why games try and force you to go back to town and empty your inventory occasionally, but it always seems to be what you gotta do.
Yea becouse we dont have any merchants at all out in the maps that we can sell stuff and buy salvage kits from its only main towns. ( I must be playing a dif game then you Mo Mo)
And no heart vendors at all to take the stuff we dont want some of them even have salvage kits for karma.Edit
Oh and you can go to pvp lobby from anywere in the normal world to sell stuff and bank what you dont want to sell.
Lol I know all those ways of selling your items. I always go to the PvP lobby but it’s a bit of a work around. If we weren’t using the PvP Lobby we’d have to travel to specific areas of the game or use gem store items to access the trading post.
Either way the game is set up so that you have to interrupt what you’re doing and travel somewhere else to deal with your loot every once in a while. You can’t just stay in the wild forever.
And my only point was that, I don’t know the exact reason, but pretty much every game like this makes you interrupt gameplay to go off somewhere and manage your inventory from time to time. I was just telling OP that it was the norm.
What’s the can of worms?
Why do you think what you see is all they have ready now? They’ve stated multiple times they’re limiting our access to the game to prevent it from spoiling the fun of launch and exploration with non-beta characters.
Lore wise, I believe the human gods have either moved on to more interesting worlds to play with, or are somehow conversely linked to the Dragons.
With the ending to the Nightfall campaign and the dialogue surrounding the events of Eye of the North, I believe there was a lot of talk about how the Dragons awaken to eat up the world’s magic and then magic slowly seeps back into the world when they slumber.
It was my understanding that the six gods are either a counter-balance that occur when the Dragons are not active, or they are beings that they were using the Dragons’ seeping magic as a resource to power their selves or their abilities.
If the Dragons are like a force of nature then perhaps the six gods are like a force of magic.
If the period of Dragon activity is like the high tide then the period of god activity is like the low tide.
Pay 1000 gems to keep a silver-fed path-check-o-matic in your inventory for client side path checking.
I like that mindlessly smacking piles of monsters doesn’t cut it anymore. I was beating away at the starting instance for beta characters and realized I wasn’t gonna get anywhere unless I targeted the menders first. Suddenly I remembered GW1 where you often had to make such considerations in high level content. My brain could benefit from being turned back on. :P
