I know Anet want zergs. I don’t mind. But I don’t like zergs I want to roam. So you say no one is stopping you why are you qqing. True no one is making me zerg but since zerging is the most effective way to get Wxp I am semi forced to zerg, More importantly even when I don’t want to zerg the roaming population is gone. Because a lot of roamers are over achievers they want the ranks and they are no dummy they are zerging it up.

So how about give us roamer a bone, implement a ranking system based on solo kills. Sort of like DAoC lone enforcer title. You get the ranks as you get more and more solo kills, no need to give out any extra other than title. Just give us soloers something to work towards and something to be proud off. It take away nothing from the zerglings and it would go a long way to create a fun solo community.

What did you guys expect? The entire WvW experience is centered around mass zerging, 60-80 man zergs are the norm now, especially in T1. All incentives, rewards, strategies, and tactics are solely centered around zerging, the bigger the zerg = more profit!

I personally do not see a fix for the the current ability/ lag delays unless they change the way WvW is played, they need to get the players spread around the map instead of clumped in 1 big megazergball, they accomplish that and the game’s performance will increase a ton.

Yea m8 agree the zergs are huge, but………

I played Aion for about 3 years before i started GW2 ( been playing from beta) same as Aion btw. And the zergs at siege at Aion were allso huge..iam talking 200 ppl minimum often and i never had skill lag over there.

Different engines . Daoc was launched what over 10 years ago. The lag in GW2 is aout the same as Daoc where the battle size are about the same. Yet the pc I play GW2 on is about 10x better than the pc I played DAoC on. The server we have today is maybe 100x better than what they had then. Yet the game companies insist on using game engines that produce the shiniest graphics rather than best mutil player performance. What’s the pt of having cool armor modle when you are forced to turn down graphic setting so that everyone is a green blob just to WvW.

If you are fighting ikittenerg ball and you have a high end pc you will have less lag than most. Which means while you are experience lag you are still faster than 80% of the player who has it worse. I also see a lot of lag in zerg ball but I have learn to deal with it. I play a ranged class so it’s easier for me but ye if you are melee I feel sry for ye. I also hate zerging but since zerging is the easiest way to get wxp I get lured to zerg. But tbh I have 1/2 hr at most in me fighting ikittenerg ball. I bet I can teach my 5 year old to zerg and get 90% of the wxp I get . Skill really doesn’t matter when you zerg unless of course if you are leading.

Best Solo Roaming Class/Build?

Based on what I see , Thief, mesmer, ele/ranger, the rest. Thief and Mesmer are at the top because they are the only 2 class that can combine high burst with ability to escape zerg balls via stealth. Roaming is not the same as 1 v 1. It’s 1 v 2 , 1 v 3 and get away from a zerg ball when you need. So find a class that can kill fast and not die to 6 people chasing you down.

Anet want zergs. I don’t like it but I see the reason behind it. People who zerg are the 90% of the wvw players they pay the bills. Keep the little fish(zerglings) happy the sharks (roamers) will take care of themselves.

I never gped with guardians but I have had a few very good fights vs them. Guardians seems to be massively hit or miss 99% of the guardians are easy prey then once in a while you meet one that’s really good .

let me toss this out there. killed 10 players got 50xp maybe, ran into a guard pt that someone else took and got 54 lol. Solo flip a camp = 75 for camp and 40 for the 2 cows. Lets all pve for wxp then turn it in for useless skills. Just great.

they want zergs. but I could have told you that fix culling will break the game. There is a reason why there are culling. you want to be able to play now turn wvw char to lowest qual and char limit to at least med.

There are people who hack for sure but not so many that it ruins my wvw experience. Most common one being speed hack. I think the problem is that it’s really hard for anet to prove someone is hacking which makes it hard to ban people. Appeal system can be abused , i.e if you want to bust a zerg you can have everyone in a large guild appeal the leader of an enemy zerg and remove that commander from battle for a week.

Staff is good for 1 thing and 1 thing only that is zerg. Range and AE that do not require target makes staff good in zerg v zerg. When you lag to 1 frame per second you can just spam your ground target ae and hit all the poor kittens who can’t even move out of it due to lag. In every other situation x/d is better. As long as the zerg isn’t big enough to lag your pc out you can go in and out of a zerg fight a cause a lot of problem as x/d ele. That being said you can always play x/d spec and switch to staff when you zerg. The difference between a pure staff trait ele vs a x/d ele who uses a staff is minimal .

don’t dis him because the people he fight are noobs. 1 v 4 is hard hard to do even vs pure noobs. The speed of rez in it self is very hard to overcome even if people don’t fight back.

number 1 mistake is to use staff I see a staff ele and it’s free stomp for me. Number 2 mistake , spam rotation without knowing who you are fighting against. An ele who try to cc and land big aes at the start of a fight are most likely a bad one. Good eles wait till they build up might and the other guy have used up cc breakers before dps dump. 3’d mistake is not knowing when to run. So many times I see eles fight 1 v 3 and not start running till it’s way too late.

personally, i feel that if you are tagged by 6 or more players then you should not drop a loot bag when you die. i’m fed up of enjoying me vs <6 then they call for help and i just get ganked – if its bloodlust that’s made them come for me then fair enough but i’m sure the thought of another loot bag is incentive enough.
This might also change the nature of the zerg- no more loot bags (or a reduced amount). might take the ‘loot bag train’ away from the zerg

They want zergs , everything in wvw encourages zerging. The fact that you don’t see death spam or enemy player names just guild tag means they do not want any player to stand out from the crowd. They want wvw to be about zerg v zerg. The new system will mean that the most dedicated zerger on the biggest servers will have the highest ranks. The solo roamers will have pitifully low ranks but we can rest in the comfort that we still will farm zerglings all day even with their high ranks and all .

lol I bet you are just full of fun and sunshine to play with. If you have enough people to push a zerg and pull out you are most likely leading a small zerg, what’s 1 or 2 more? I solo roam and I never give anyone a hard time for following me when I flip camps. If someone follow you it means you know they ‘admire’ you. No need to be a jerk about it.

Well the abilities doesn’t really interest me much as a soloer other than carry more supplies. It open up the possibility of small gp nija a keep. The whole everyone get full credit thing is bs but what can you do.

sword 2 is the best counter to thieves in 1 v 1. I used it for a while but went back to GS because I like the ranged play style better and GS is much better in a 2-3 man. But when a thief try to burst you or guardian or warrior try to dps dumb on you pop blured frenzy in their face is pretty fun. The best is when you use it on DD eles, chaos storm + blurred frenzy + shatter = one dead DD ele.

GS is offensive weapon. It is bad if you do not know how to kite people. To use GS to it’s potential you need to manage your distance and most likely use a more defensive second set. If you use GS in close range then ye it sucks compare to sword or scepter. I run GS/Staff and I love it. I have tired other sets but I love my range.

I just like to say a few things as a solo player who is a part of zerg guild. I solo 90% of the time but when the guild need me I zerg as well.
1. People who do fight club are by far the top 1% of the wvw pop.
2. Zerg v Zerg is a completely different game from roaming solo.
3. It’s easy to transition from solo to zerg but not easy at all to go from zerging to the solo game.
4. Spvp is a whole different game from WvW solo. Heck tpvp is totally different from hot join.

The other thing right now the meta of the game is zerg vs zerg and the thief is not that good in tha situation, I use my guardian, warrior or mesmer for that so the thief go to a second page.

BS. My Thiefs semi-bunker Sword/Pistol build, using Omnom Pies for added healing is far, far better in Zergs than my Guardian. You guys just need to learn how to build your Theives better, than doing the standard gimmicky glass canon build.

Also learn to use your teleports for added confusion. In some cases they’re better than stealth.

Are u telling me a Thief is better than a altruistic guardian?
I can Heal everyone close to me with the boons, and do some damage, at the same time I do somo control in the field, the thief is pure damage, in a 60vs60 thief is pretty much useless, why ahve a thief in ur comp when u can have a warrior?, right now the meta is Warrio, guardian, mesmer, necro and ele for wvwvw. Tell me 1 thing a thief can do better than this classes in a super zerg.
From my pov the theif is good for gank squad.

It’s a nerf for sure but really not that huge a nerf. All it means is that when you have a zerg looking for a thief that thief will die. minimum impact in 1 v 1 or 1 v 2. It takes .5 sec to target and chances are at least to another second just to get in attack range that leaves 1.5 sec to do damage before stealth again. Since thief is most likely the one on the offense it won’t change things much .

This is just my experience. I use staff to fill the gaps between my bust skills. I like staff because it allows me avoid damage so I don’t need to heal as much.

I agree when you run 5 man it’s a bit different. I don’t really run with more than 4. We use vent and I think in general we have different playing style. We like to roam, tag okittenerg and hit it from the side or the rear. Our goal is never to bust the zerg as it’s pretty much unrealistic to kill and down 20+ players with 2-4. We aim to feed off the zerg like a shark feed off a giant school of fish. Mobility is by far the most important thing. Esp the best way to peel off small chunk of a large zerg is by extending it. Make them chase you , never run off, always stay close enough so the closest guy to you can still hit you but most of the zerg can’t. Goal is to get the guy right on your heels to stay with you as his zerg gives up and turn back. For a setup like that staff 2 is gold, it’s a blink every 8 secs that breaks stun. I would never run without it.

I totally disagree with not using staff in small man. Staff is what I use to live when 2 thieves jump me, it is what I use to get away when 4 people all turn on me at the same time. I roam a lot it is quite common to run into 2 -3+ thief groups. Without staff 2 and chaos storm I’d be dead so often my head would spin.

I ran a 2x mesmer + 1 thief gp a few times. Both mesmers ran gs/staff thief we had was s/d. We did some crazy crazy stuff in wvw. The amount of clones we generated was the perfect cover for the thief. A s/d dagger thief floats in and out to attack people and stealth the rest of the time. He was able to attack people at will since they had no idea which one was our clone which one was him. On top of that both mesmers ran mass invis so we can stealth rez when one of us is downed.

edit: I honestly felt dirty in that gp . the ease of which we were able to pick out a target, burst it down, stealth stomp . Run away pull a few player with us from the zerg, kill them, go back to zerg do the same thing over and over. We were untouchable with the amount of invis and clone . I honestly believe it’s an unbeatable team. The only time we wiped was because a zerg ball ran over us with culling , we had no idea they were even there until they were on top of us.

I don’t think they will remove downed state. Mainly because they want to encourage zerging. I just hope they give out loot xp after you down someone rather than after stomp.
I am conflicted about what is right for the game. As an solo small gp ganker I would love to see downed stated removed. It would allow me to do unspeakable things to zergs. On the other hand I see how allowing a few people kill a zerg is so so bad for the game as a whole (DaoC , War) I’m willing to live with it.

I have both ele and mesmer . I have put in a lot of time in both.
Both class are very powerful in the hands of a good player.
Ele is harder to master , mesmer is easy mode pretty much right away.
In high end pvp both are very good.
In hot join Mesmer is much better for just face roll newbs to farm glory.
In Wvw Ele is better at taking on 2-3 people at once , ele is better at dealing with good thieves. Mesmer is better at melting newbs , mesmer is much much better in a small gp. I gp with one other mesmer + 1 thief, we do crazy things to small zergs that should not be allowed.

Over all I think it’s a tie . I play mesmer more now because it feels more like a ranged dps class which is what I always played in mmos.

I don’t see how hard can it be. As long as you have the dodge make clone trait that + the shield chaos storm gives taking camp should be pretty easy. When you get in trouble stealth. One trick I use is to pull everything to the scouts. Use line of sight to move scouts toward you. Drop a chaos storm on the cluster. Then dodge make clones none stop and watch them all die.

if anything this change helps the small gps. Before the change the supply camp ownership is meaningless . When a zerg want supplies they zerg it take what they need and leave. Now at least you can stop the zerg from getting their supply for 6 mins if you time it right.

I was ganking with friends at a hot supply camp last week. It was crazy to see all 3 servers rolling in every 1 – 2 mins zerg the camp take the supply and roll out. That camp changed hands close to 10 times in about 15 mins .

It will be esport when enough players like the pvp. I watched my friend play lol for years , I used to laugh at him for playing a point and click game. But over time more and more players picked it up, not because it was super balanced or viewer friendly which it is . People started play it because it was FUN. And now I must admit I was wrong all those years.
You have to start with the FUN factor then you add in balance viewer friendly stuff. but unless it’s FUN for players no one will care and it will not be esport.

I work more than 40 hours a week, have a full course load in college, and living with my girlfriend, chances are I’m busy at peak hours.

I’m sorry my life doesn’t revolve around videogames and that I have to actually feel sunlight on my skin.

It’s amazing that you want to punish people that have things to do, I won’t even begin to address the obvious silliness of punishing those outside of the US.

Just because you don’t play at those hours does not mean that a whole lot of us do. Stop being so self centered.

What time you play is your business. Fact is if you chose to play at a time when there are no one defending any keep taking efforts your effort whatever it was should not count as much as 50+ people’s effort who took that keep in prime time. Why should you be rewarded dis-proportionally just because you play when no one else is around? Funny how you people calling me self centered when you are the ones who want the system work in your favor at everyone else and game’s expense.

Prime time = times where there are lots of players in WvWvW. A keep captured when there are ques in every zone should worth more than a keep captured when there are only 20 people on the whole map. Pretty simple concept .
It’s easier to break it down to regions because that’s where most players live and it general holds true. log in at 4 am EST on NA servers there are less people than 10 pm EST. So prime time = prime time for the whole server not mine or yours.

Prime time for whom? Are you really going to say that the people playing on my server from halfway across the world are somehow less valid and deserve less points for their efforts?

I’m surprised you didn’t just ask for the game to revolve around you. Oh, but you did.

Why are there N/A servers and Euro Servers? If you live cross the ocean you should play on Euro servers. If you chose to play NA servers I don’t see why you shouldn’t be expected to take a small hit .

Title says it all. Having moved from t1 to t8 then fought all the way back up to t2. It became quite clear that in most matches it start out close then the server with most off peak hr coverage take everything after 2am in the morning and build up a massive lead . Then the losing teams fight an uphill battle the next night and stops showing up.

I really think it will help WvW to have the pts gained in prime time worth more than the pts gained in off peak hrs. Or else tie the number of pts gained to number of players in WvW. This way the servers with good night/morning pops still get reward but the gap to over come isn’t big enough to discourage the losing servers from try to mount some kind of come back at prime time

Lastly a nightly reset of keeps would also do wonders to encourage people to come out and play. .

I play SD on my ele 0 0 20 20 30. Tanky spec with focus on boon duration and building might. It’s pretty easy to get 15+ stacks of might and keep it. plays much like DD you wear the other guy down instead of bursting. The down side is not having shocking aura and perma swiftness. Up side is better might building and melts newbs faster when they don’t know how to dodge a dragon tooth.

RTL nerf isn’t a huge deal you only need it to get in and then get out . 20 sec is short enough. EA nerf to heal is huge but since it doesn’t impact WvW I don’t care.

regardless what the issue is stealth is killing the roaming part of WvW. I solo roam all the time, I would say 90% of the people I face are thieves . Now days it’s not even single thieves anymore it’s an arms race. Since thieves find themselves facing other thieves now thieves run in packs of 2-3 . As a soloer 1 thief is fair 2 is not beatable 3 is insane.

Other bunkers like gardian and ele can heal from nothing to full over and over in short amount of time but Mesmers simply doesn’t have the healing to deal with a good player who isn’t fool by your clones.

That’s incorrect. Bunker mesmer has 100% uptime on regeneration, as well as an extremely powerful heal in ether feast, which has very high base healing and scales ~1.3 with healing power.

I play ele as well as mesmer the healing difference between the 2 is not even close. Regen in itself is the weakest form of heal. Ele have 100% regen and access to passive heal on every skill use + another regen that stacks with the perma regen when switch to water and just about every skill in water also heals that’s including the damage dealing skills as well as pure heal skills. And on top of that everytime you dodge in water it also heals and cure condition. And on top of that ele get mist form which also heals when you pop it .

lol I love ho all the thieve come out to give op kitten. Truth is most likely those thieves aren’t hacking simply stealth away and wp or just get far away enough it seems he is gone. But stealth is pretty broken, the irony is that the more people out looking for the thief the easier it is for him to get way . Just more targets to cnd off to get extra stealth. That + all the random mobs everywhere in WvW it’s really really hard to catch a thief.
As for downing 2 – 3 people, all you thieves out there know any none 80 will not live past 1 chain of attack . kill 1 guy stealth stomp. Go away kill another guy , stealth stomp. I do that on my thief all the time .

Karma Armour [Orr]

I just like to say karma armour is about the easiest to get . Do daily and save the jugs. You get a karma booster from one of the later epics. When you hit 80, use the karma booster and drink your jugs of karma BAM insta 200+k of karma enough to get 5 piece of karma armour. Now if you power leveled your guy in like 3 days this wouldn’t work otherwise it’s pretty straight forward.
