Look at it this way, A guardian has less of a chance of getting silk…but you have MORE of a chance of getting DUSK!

Doesn’t matter how much they buff it by 1,000,000 times 0 is still 0. In all seriousness, I hope that you are joking. You have increased odds of getting a Greatsword period, so Dusk dropping is still around a one in a hundred million chance.

Meh. Raging about something that hasn’t come into practice yet is ridiculous. When are we going to learn to wait and rage when we actually really know something?

Raging about Commander tags costing 300 gold per color got it changed to 300 gold for all colors. Sometimes it’s best to let the developers know what we think of their proposed changes before it’s released.

As a side note… has anyone ever actually equipped a drop before?

I’ve looted probably 10,000 armor pieces, I don’t think i’ve ever equipped a single one.

Does Anet actually think people do this?

Only when I’m leveling, which seems to be what this change is for since it will be annoying at level 80.

Alright so the new meta class is Mesmer

That way you get the two most valuable items (greatswords and cloths)

anyone know a mesmer farming guide? ;3

much better is necro

very easy to farm with necro and you get cloth + dagger + staff

farming with a mesmer is horrible^^

You get Greatswords as a Mesmer though.

Can we please stop arguing against good ideas just because they’re not perfect and instead pitch ideas to improving the good ideas?

Except when the change actively makes the game a worse experience, (like in this case) I’m going to complain.

Ok…you seem to not be understanding. This isn’t saying you shouldn’t complain, but complain about the right thing.

Making gear for leveling players more readily attainable is a good thing, even if you don’t care about it. Your problem is that it will keep you from getting silk, which means your problem can be resolved by addressing the silk situation instead of stopping a change that will benefit players.

Silk wasn’t a problem for me before. I haven’t bought Silk en masse, but this change will require me to start buying from other players do to decreased drop rates. I’m complaining about the right thing.

This is generally a good change, because it priotizes personal rewarding over trading post tactics. The advantages are worthier than the disadvantages.

I also wouldn’t mind if this affected even lv80 characters. It would bring something a bit more unique to playing with alts, and if you don’t like it, you always have the trading post to rely for and make your trades.

This wouldn’t be as big of a problem if they were evenly priced, but they are not. Mithril ore is worth ~45 copper, however Silk Scrap is worth ~2 silver, and poor Leather is worth ~10 copper. This reduces income for Heavy and Medium armor class while boosting it for Light armored classes. I’m also asked for a lot of silk to get my ascended armor, and I shouldn’t be hindered in acquiring it because of my chosen class.

And it is not going to stop heavy classes from ever getting silk or items that salvage into silk, it is just going to reduce how much un-usable gear you get.

The reason it will be decreasing my silk drop is because the only way to get silk is to salvage armor or a salvage item. By reducing the amount of light armor that drops for me I’ll be salvaging light armor less, and in turn reducing how much silk I get. I haven’t had to buy silk before now, and I don’t want to have to start because ANet messed with my drops.

If you are so worried about cloth scraps go make an alt that uses light armor.

I’m not sure if you see the problem here. I shouldn’t have to make an alt to gear my main.

I don’t understand. As a guardian, you have just as much chance of getting silk (or any other mat) as any other profession. You don’t need to level an alt to get what you need for crafting. Silk is used across all professions, so you wouldn’t need to have a light or medium armor character to get silk.

Go read today’s update. They are making it more likely to get equipment you can use, meaning I will be getting more Mithril from salvaging heavy armor and less Silk because I’ll have less light armor.

2. Keep party chat
3. A message when someone joins a party
4. A message when you are kicked, including who initiated the kick and who voted on it.

So people who play Charr are into bestiality? Way to sap the role play from a mmorpg.

I was more referring to people who role humans as other genders, but if someone is playing an opposite gender Charr because he/she is “into bestiality” then yes, they are a creep.

It was just one path, not paths. On top of it, the Aetherpath actually removed a previous dungeon path, so really we didn’t gain anything from it. Other than that your list is correct, although I (respectfully) disagree with you.

I ran Sword/Sword Warrior in PvP because I liked impaling other players on a sword. I then got the highest score for killing players on him despite the fact I’d only just made the character.

My Guardian is still my favorite character 600 hours in.

I have 2 level 80s, but only log onto the Warrior to craft the stuff for Mawdrey.

The only other time I logged onto my Warrior was to fight Liadri with a Rifle bleeding build.

Still the only content that the player will overly suffer for is what I mentioned (as they will possibly denied rewards due to lack of damage). Otherwise, the player will still be “successful”, tho potentially not effective as they could be.

Play a dungeon with 5 bleed rifle warriors and then play it with 5 anything-other-than-condition warriors and tell me conditions are fine in group play. Burning and poison are in an even worse place because it can cap out at one person, due to it stacking duration. As soon as the enemy is perma burned/poisoned it doesn’t matter how many players you have, because you’ll still be doing the damage of the one or two people it takes to perma burn/poison. In solo content conditions are awesome, but as soon as you have more than two or so people you are at the limit for conditions.

I love these examples that demand build DIVERSITY, but then use silly examples like how FIVE condi rifle warriors will be ineffective. O.o Many people run conditions to solo dungeons. Those same rifle condi warriors can finish a dungeon just fine too. No they don’t play well together (WITHOUT variety lol), but it is viable to achieve the goal. As was said before, zerg content is the real problem where enemies are burned before enough damage can be applied to tag mobs. The impression that I’ve always got from these different arguments is “every other option should be equally capable of dungeon speed clears and welcome in those groups”. I really don’t understand this mentality of choosing sub-optimal builds for content and then going on a crusade to change the balance to make it equal to min/maxed builds. People that run Berserker, DON’T use it at world bosses. You know why? Because that isn’t optimal. ‘Dynamic Combat’ involves using your many tools appropriately for the situation.

It doesn’t have to be bleed rifle warriors. Bleed Rifle Warrior is the only condition build I’ve ever tried to use, so it’s the example I always pull up. If you have more than three people stacking bleeds, regardless of build, it works improperly. Many classes also apply conditions even if they don’t want/need to. My Berserker Guardian would gladly stop burning enemies so that the burning based build in the dungeon could apply theirs, but unfortunately I don’t have a choice in the matter.

It’s unfair? I’m pretty sure the requirements to get the item are exactly the same for everyone, so no, it isn’t unfair. You maybe don’t want to put in the same amount or type of work as others, which actually is unfair.

Except everyone isn’t putting in the same amount of work. People who already run fractals and have a heap of pristine relics saved up put in zero extra work for the crafting. People who have never done fractals or have tried them and don’t care to try them again, they will need to put in 10 or more additional hours into crafting this item. So yes it’s an unfair requirement.

I suppose by that logic it’s unfair to people who don’t have map completion too? The scavenger hunt was easy for me because I could just waypoint and upgrade the necessary item.

The only place you CAN NOT successfully run a condition build is in Champ Trains and World Boss Zergs so if THOSE modes are the OPs issue keep in mind those are quite narrow (tho popular) game play modes.

You cannot have more than two conditioners in any content because of the condition cap. See my above example. 2 Rifle Bleed Warrior can hit the bleed cap, and anyone else won’t really be doing any more damage, or worse, be lessening the damage because they aren’t geared/traited well and are stopping the dedicated conditioners from applying conditions.

well i dont yell at anyone and no cause its toatally up to them if they want to use it.
i mean they earned it didnt they?

If they “earned” it, don’t they deserve to ask for something more? Your posts are just getting more and more confusing. Do they deserve something because they earned it, or is this a gift? The definition of a gift is as follows: “a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present.” If it’s without payment, they did not earn it. It it’s earned, they paid for something and have the right to complain.

Title. I want to know if I’ll be able to actually run a viable condition build at some point.

Thanks.

Conditions have always been viable. In fact, they’re incredibly powerful except in every aspect of the game outside of dungeons and zerg content. Are conditions ever going to be capable of 100k bursts? No. That flies in the face of DoT/attrition style play. Apples will never be the same as oranges.

The problem with conditions is not that it can’t 100k burst, the problem is it doesn’t play well with others. 5 Bleeding rifle warriors can only stack 25 bleeds, doing around the same damage as 2 bleeding rifle warriors.
