By making the dungeons 5x larger (with multiple entrances from different directions), and adding 2-3 times as many bosses, you naturally spread people out with little effort.

I thought you just said that ANet wasn’t going to be doing a whole lot of work on dungeons? 5x larger sounds like a lot of work, and it won’t solve anything. A guild could just say “Hey everyone, doing Dungeon #3 tonight on reset” and get 10-20 people who are going to zerg it all.

@ipan I don’t prefer to play Diablo or Vindictus, I like Guild Wars 2 the way it is. I like open world mixed with group content. The thing about dungeons, is that it’s actually pretty popular. With the introduction of megaservers they would actually be over crowded. I played a mini-dungeon the other day and there were about 10 of us. If we doubled party size in the current dungeons, it would ruin them. IMO, this “next best solution” would ruin this kind of content.

I’d like a mix of crafting and scavenger hunt, Mawdrey style. Say, craft 4 Ascended weapons, throw them in the forge for an ascended Pre-Precursor. Each one has a list of 50 skill points it needs to be taken to and imbued at (it would have a checklist in the tooltip so you don’t need to remember it all). Once it’s been imbued you get a list of 10 champions you need to slay. Once all of that is done it becomes an Ascended version of the precursor you wanted.

To me, this means I should be able to access content in the game without needing to do any excessive farming

Except you do have access to all the content (except high level fractals). Name one bit of content that requires you to have top gear besides fractals. Not dungeons, people have soloed them naked before, not world bosses, people bring under levelled characters to them. The word you are looking for isn’t “content” it is “rewards”.

Cursed Shore 50+ people intentionally failing this event so they can wow farm it, and raging like animals at people who want to finish it…

Claims of 100+gold and hour luring more people to it all the time.

None of the other events are doable because of the amount of jerks farming this thing.
Not to mention it screws up people who want to actually finish the event so they can do the next one.

I hate to take the side of the farmers, but if “50+ people” want to do something and you come along and ruin it for them you’re doing the exact same thing they’re doing (preventing someone else from doing what they want).

As a colorblind, this is gonna be so frustrating.

Imagine two commanders. One with a blue tag and the other with a purple tag (I have trouble with the two colors).

Me: Hey, can you change your tag color? I’m having trouble distinguishing between the two tags coz I’m colorblind.
Commander: Sorry man, thats gonna cost me 300g.

Thats absurd.

PS. Still having trouble seeing red AOE circles. Still no colorblind assist option 2 years after launch. Thanks.

Different shapes instead of just colours would be a good idea, I guess there are no colourblind people in ArenaNet, it’s the reason the guys in Blizzard went with different shapes and colours for their raid target icons.

You won’t be off in any worse condition than you are now. It would still be a nice little QoL feature so everyone could enjoy this update though.

It’s my favorite main hand weapon, and with Focus it also applies regeneration, more blinds, and shields you from a few big attacks.

Crucible of Eternity should have 1.5-2 gold reward in my opinion. Ascalonian Catacombs is a pretty mind numbing dungeon, and takes little skill to complete at higher levels. Crucible of Eternity requires more skill, and isn’t always as mind numbing. I’m also a little biased that higher level content should be more rewarding than low level content. It doesn’t make sense to me that the lowest level dungeon should be the highest rewarding.

I tend to care more about the player behind the class than the class itself. I’ll take a Necro/Ranger that knows his stuff over a PVT Warrior who camps 1200 range with a rifle. Personally I’d list as follows:
Guardian – Wall of Reflection is a must when puging.
Elementalist – Fiery Greatsword is amazing when stacking, plus Frostbow trivializes some areas in dungeons, like Graveling burrows.
Warrior – Heavy armor, great DPS support. I tend to like seeing them in pugs because they’re harder to play badly.
Thief – Bursting is nice, plus the dark fields for blinds and group stealth aren’t bad.
Mesmer – They bring some fun to the table, with reflections, boons, and portal.
Engi – Haven’t had much experience with them, but they seem to offer some support which is always welcome.
Ranger – Bearbow has ruined the reputation of this class for me. I’m worried when I see one join a pug, but I won’t turn them away. They can be played well, and I appreciate the spirit support, but it’s done too infrequently for me to rank them highly.
Necromancer – Not a whole lot of group support, and with the condition cap they don’t play well with others.

You’re going to find a lot of resistance to this idea, even though I don’t mind it myself. Right now, people buy black lion chests not to get the skins for themselves, but to sell the skins for profit. If everyone knows skins will eventually be available they lose value. People will wait. People will stop buying (or farming) as many black lion keys.

It will affect the economy.

Good points, but don’t you think that the year delay would address this ?

I know a lot of people would wait if we were talking a week, but a year ? A significant part of Anet’s business plan is based on the fact that a lot of people would rather pull out their credit card to buy something now rather than wait to earn gold in game.

There’s a lot of things to spend gold on. And I don’t need any single skin right now. Plenty of skins in the game that I like. I might consider buying a skin I particularly like off the TP for 60 gold. But if I knew that in a year I could have it for cash, I wouldn’t personally buy it because there are things I can’t buy off the cash shop and those would take precedence.

There’s no shortage of stuff I want to spend gold on…and I don’t buy gems to convert to gold.

Yeah but you are not some impatient kid. You grew up in an era where waiting until you could afford something, or being thrifty in general, was a virtue. The gemshop works because a lot of people want their shiny, or whatever, now !

The average age of the playerbase is probably higher than most people think. The average gamer is now over 30.

I’m not thinking kids are driving the gem sales these days.

Do you have a pie-chart where you asked every person that has bought the game, or is this a case of “I don’t like this, therefore no one does”?

Let’s make a pie chart to reflect the majority’s opinion.
http://strawpoll.me/2368868

A simple little poll on strawpoll (2368868) to give us a piechart.

EDIT: 50/50 right now (only 2 votes), the more of you that vote the more accurate the poll will be. Please vote to put an end to this question.
EDIT 2: 4 votes no, 1 vote yes.

This won’t reflect the majority’s opinion. It will possible reflect the majority of a minority which are forum posters. The most vested, hardest to please people in the game. The dissatisfied ones. That’s what this reflects.

If we know nothing else from the past it’s that forum posters often don’t express majority views.

In a recent quote, which I’ve quoted elsewhere, a Lotro dev said that even though there were a huge number of forum posts by raiders, only 2% of the game’s population raided.

Polls on forums generally prove very little.

This is the closest I can get to having proper statistics, so unless ANet wants to advertise our little poll on Facebook (which would be awesome, but we can’t really count on that) then the forumers are the only people I can really poll.

Facebook would also say nothing .. a lot of MMO gamers these days are 40+ now and
often don’t care about facebook at all.

The only thing that would give maybe some decent data is an ingame poll .. like they did in AION from time to time.

LMAO! I told my wife about it and she wants to vote and can’t. Says she already voted. lol Must be we’re on the same IP.

I set it to not let people vote from the same IP to prevent one player from voting multiple times. I only want to get 9000:1 ratio if it’s legit lol. Maybe I’ll just poll some players in-game and use that data.

I haven’t even done LS2 yet – I was hoping for more zones to be opened, but when all w got was Dry Top, I was disappointed.

“I wanted more zones to play in, saw they only added one new zone, which isn’t as many as I wanted, so I’m not even going to play it…”

People want expansions. ArenaNet has said that they going to do the Living World instead of an expansion. People still expect expansion-like content. What’s wrong about that?

The Living World focuses around story instead of new maps or new things to do.
Sadly the story is very bad. Many people are not pleased with the outcome and insist that if ANet would’ve done expansions instead, the game would be better.

What’s wrong is that he was saying he wanted new zones, but then went on to say he hasn’t even bothered playing the new zone because Anet didn’t add enough new zones….

If that’s not what he meant, which I sure hope it wasn’t, then I apologize for misunderstanding, but on face value it sounds like a case of “looking a gift horse in the mouth”. If you are familiar with the saying.

“I want cake!”

“No problem, here’s a slice of our finest German Chocolate cake.”

“Noooo I wanted an entire cake!” knocks cake to floor

It’s more like asking for a pizza, and then just getting the crust. “This isn’t a meal!” “But it’s free!” “But it won’t keep me from starving!” “But it’s free!”. I’m not trying to take a side, but I feel like your analogy didn’t quite capture the situation.

After reading the news about the new exclusive PVP armors, I cannot stop myself from wishing for a similar PVE counterpart. As it is now, the only prestige armor set in game, will be available for the 10-20 people that happen to win elite tournaments….

While I agree that top PVP players should get a special reward for their effords, I strongly believe that there should be a correspondant set for the people that prefer PVE.

I wish Anet would introduce an equally prestegius armor set, that could be craftable through PVE rewards and activities. I wouldn’t even mind paying 100 pristine relics per piece.

Before people start complaining that everything in PVE is easy so nothing will ever be prestigious: we have been lacking any kind of hard to obtain armor set, so now is the time to give us one of those. I am sure plenty of people will enjoy working towards one of those.

As a dungeon frequenter, I can say it totally depends. Some champ farms can give champ boxes faster than most dungeons, but some paths are farmed, like SE P1. If you play a Warrior, Guardian or Elementalist I highly suggest trying it. You can get about a box a minute iirc.

You’ll get some T6 mats when you’re making Mystic Clovers, as well as a bit of Orichalcum.

This argument / discussion has been done multiple times in the past. The fact of the matter is, the game was designed from the ground up to NOT support player to player trading. Get on with your life.

The game was also designed not to have a dedicated healing class, but we still have people trying to roll a healer.

….and how does a healer and mail trade work out? Again, move on….

I’m just saying that some players won’t move on. They’ll keep begging for it or trying to find a way to do it.

Am I the only one that is bad at this game ??

How many hours are you at? At 600 I still die on occasion, and this new living story season is much harder than the personal story.
