This game also needs cast bars so that observers can tell what is being cast. Most of the time you can’t figure out what’s happening till a skill actually goes off.

Stop talkin nonsense, go play the actual game before coming up with false facts. And IN FACT, even if we were to get seperated q’s, it would take an hour to find a match. And also, I don’t want to meet the same players all the time in soloq (due to low playerbase) as I already do 3-5 times within a day.

Huh? M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y of players are SoloQ/Duo players, nothing would change for them waiting time wise if premades would be removed from regular que. I would dare to guess such majority is ~90%.

There is no reason to punish 90% of player base just to make 10% happy. Even if that 10% would quit GW2 completly, then more people of remaining 90% PvP population would be happier with more fair MM and actualy GW2 PvP population would probably grow.

As Colin mentioned in his The Road Ahead for 2015 blog, cleaning up combat visibility for both actual gameplay (the people in the game) and spectators is a priority for us and is something we’re actively working on. We shipped some changes to address this issue with HoT (such as having hit effects clean-up faster), but we know some of the newly introduced elite specs skills need to be cleaned up, and those fixes will continue to be rolled out in phases. For instance, we’ll be addressing some skills on an individual basis in our next release.

The goal is communicating the important things in combat – not over-communicating them.

They have to remake whole the warrior class to be honest, from weapons to traits and so on, it has a very bad outdated design no wonder everyone claims warrior is like the easiest class to learn, even a kitten can play warrior, it’s like if anet used it as a basic prototype guide line to make the other classes during game development of some sort and relied from there while giving other classes more fun and interesting mechanics.

They already remade whole warrior profession… and renamed in to Revenant.

Dahkeus.8243, i understand what your saying. But’s SH is anything but engaging or have any multiple strategy.

Everybody now knows theres only 1 strategy on this map. & it’s to summon bombers with ur initial resource, Zerg rush to kill guards. Bust doors, guards & finish lord. You don’t even need a pre-made team to achieve this in 3 minutes. I done it multiple time. Yawwwn!

Worst part, most of the time you don’t even see the other team cuz there rushing it as well. It’s mainly a race on who can bust doors, guards, lord the fastest.

Trust me there’s more players that feels the same that does not even wanna waste time posting there thoughts on it. SH is boring & it missed it’s mark. Sorry Anet.

You kill enemy team rushing your gates, and there PvE race ends.

It doesn’t have to be even a trap. LB #5 makes cage around you, which will knockdown you whenever you try to leave, what is more… it’s often invisible due to bugz.

To make myself clear on this im going to only post this next sentence so EVERYONE wont missunderstand…get ready for it!

DH traps are easy to dodge, its when you get knocked/feared/pulled back in thats the problem.

ahem. that is all.

Isn’t that supposed to be a problem? So two people are co-ordinating their skills to get a kill. I think that’s exactly how team-based PvP is supposed to work. Like…this game even has a combo system, we’re supposed to be doing things like this.

…but people aren’t dying while knocked/feared/pulled into Ranger or Thief traps, which means DH traps are OP compared to those.

And core condi necros are pure beasts in spvp…..the huge sustain with toughness/vit stats make them hard oppontes.

Dire doesn’t exist in sPvP.

I was fine and owning with good old Daggershroud necro as I am now on Reaper … sorry but if you are good you don’t have a problem as necro or Reaper….

Which tournaments have you “owned”, so you believe "core’ Necro is viable option to play? Because we’re not talking about me, but reasons why “core” Necro was left behind Reaper in competitive play.

Anyway, looking at signature I guess just regular Mesmer salt.

Dragon Hunters bow deals a little to much dmg
Revenant heals a little too much while doing damage
Reaper have a little too much life
tempest is a little too slow and too much tanky
daredevil is a little like a teleporting minion
berzerker .. dont know.. never saw a warrior in the game
Scrapper has a little too much might or too much sustain
druid dont know.. :/

While I could not agree with few things above…

Dragon Hunter traps were always meant to be invisible.
Do you mean in visible to you playing A dragon Hunter as in, you placed a trap and now you can’t see it?

It’s hard to have a trap…if your enemy can see it.

You know that sometimes you step on enemy trap, its damaging you and you still dont see it? Happens with both DH Traps and LB #5.

Just make DH traps as amazing as thief traps. Thief traps are so well balanced, developers put a lot of thought and effort in them! I am sure if DH traps were like thief traps, game would be very fun for everyone (including bunker guards)!

casting bars and ability icons don’t really help view ability. Have you ever watched another person play some mmo you’re not familiar with? Sure you can see what buttons they are pressing, but that doesn’t in the slightest help you understand what is actually occurring.

Casting bars doesn’t help to understand whats going on for people who never played game and know nothing about, for same reason as someone who never played LoL won’t have any idea how Lee Sin went between walls on ward without using Flash.

On the otherside, same casting bars will help to easy follow action for people who played GW2 only a bit, but doesn’t know and understand all those animations, especially if we take into account that all tournaments are streamed without any kind of standarized models…

I’m ok with the initial guards being weak.

It’s something that attacking teams need to commit at least two players (one to take out guards another to take out anybody on the treb) to at the start of the game, which limits what else the team can do.

You can kill solo both Guards even if someone is on Treb and there are no other defenders

I wonder how it would work out if there could be some sort of diminishing returns (like WoW) to make us invulnerable to certain CC after being spammed at us (no matter the source).

It would require additional icons, e.g. Dimishing Returns for Fear would require something like Fear icon with boon layout or something… on the other side it would be overnerf for SlickShoes.

Not sure about that. CSGO is the biggest growing E-sport game at the moment, and it’s been big since always, streaming back then was never a thing. But in certain countries it was streamed on TV. CSGO is a simple way of action, defuse bomb or plant bomb while defending. That’s what people do over and over, and even in competitive play in ranked, it’s the same game mode over and over, and over and over. Why do people still play it? I don’t know, but I play CSGO and it’s fun as ever.

Most of the time you win in CSGO is by kills, not having a bomb exploding or defusing. So, if the game is good – the action in pvp will never get dull. It’s just how Anet is handling conquest pvp atm. Valve and Riot are great with communication.

CSGO’s success wasn’t because of the speed it was because of what you said “is a simple way of action, defuse bomb or plant bomb while defending.” It’s simple, it’s something that a casual observer can understand and follow.
To be successful as a eSport, a game must be something that a person who isn’t a high level player, or doesn’t play the game at all can watch and still engage in.

Viewers must be able to see the big plays and cheer for them, to yell “GOGOGOGO” when their team starts a big play.
Guild Wars 2 can’t deliver this. Conquest and the telegraph system are so nebulous that only experienced GW2 PvP’ers can even follow what is occurring. You can’t cheer your favorite team on through a play if you can’t even understand when the play happens.

There is a reason that nearly all mainstream sports boil down to “take ball and get it somewhere” because that’s something that anyone, even people that don’t plaay the sport can engage with.

Thats another thing I’ve mentioned many times already on those boards: we need casting bars and ability icons (both on cast and on damage) so everyone can follow, like GW1 had.

This way even the most green noob would see that player A used skill X and player B responded to it with skill Y to block/interrupt/evade it and so on… also makes game much simpler to learn for newcomers and community grows easier…

20% would be amazing, 10% would even be enough. Just enough to be able to use shroud at all. We’re locked out of a stupid amount of our traits and abilities with 0%.
Foot in the grave, transfusion, Weakening shroud, and Spiteful spirit. 4 of our GRANDMASTER traits that completely rely on having atleast 10% shroud, all useless when you step into that first fight.

You could add few GMs: Unholy Martyr, Unholy Sanctuary, Dhumfire, Death Perception.

I would like thank you dev team for Stronghold, it’s my favourite game mode, however I believe it requires much more polishing to make it even more fun and enjoyable.

Since I only play Stronghold right now, I would like to share my feedback and thoughts on this game mode.

-> First defense/attack

Since entire defense is based on NPCs (Guards) and you can’t destroy Gate without killing those and I would like to note that Guards are too squishy, die too easy and too fast. We often see scenario when attacker/attackers rush Guards while completly ignoring defending player or players. What is more defender (or defenders) can’t stop enemies from slaying Guards if attackers got enough sustain, so basicaly only Treb could handle those situations, but Treb is kinda useless if there is more than one attacking person, since it’s impossible to use it under any kind of pressure.
Simply by just ignoring defending player/s and killing fast Guards you may force them to “fight” against flood of Door Breakers, who are much harder to deal with than Guards.
Also, because of same issue, Archers are useless for majority of game.

tl/dr:
-> Presence of defender often isn’t enough important and it’s often easier to kill Guards and ignore defenders.

Proposed solution to the problem:
-> Add buff called “Inspired” to the Guards if there is friendly player in certain range 360 or 600 (can’t be behind Gate) which reduces incoming damage to Guards by certain value, e.g. 75%.
This way we would gain two things:
1) Fighting enemy players would be more important than just ignoring them and doing PvE aspect of game mode, it’s PvP mode after all.
2) Archers would be more useful.

-> Mist Champions
There are basicaly two problems with Mist Champions.

First, channeling Mist champions can often be done while ignoring enemy player trying to interrupt us, thats because it’s not interrupted on damage but on so called hard CCs, so stacking blocks and stability may led to situation where it’s better to ignore enemy player attacking us and channel, especially if we were able to get faster to Mist essence than enemy because of reasons.

Second, Mist Champions [MC] give great pushing power which is already advantage, however summoning also gives 20 points. So team which was able to summon MC has gained twice, since if MC will allow you to destroy enemy Gate youre already +70 points and also closer to main objective.
Such situation means that often just channeling MC whenever it’s possible to do so more important than focusing on main objective, because even if your MC is left alone and dies, it doesn’t hurt you, because currently enemies doesn’t get points for killing it so you don’t even need to follow it.

Proposed solutions to both problems:
-> Shorten channel time of summon (10->7), but interrupt it on any damage, CC or w/e.
-> Give as many points for killing enemy Mist Champions as for channeling yours (20).
This way we would change following:
1) You would have to deal with enemy who could interrupt your channel of Mist Essence before you could try to channel it.
2) Players would have to follow their Mist Champion after summoning it, if they wouldn’t want to give up on points gained via summoning. So we would have more PvP than PvE

-> NPCs and AoE
All kind of AoE (e.g. Dragonhunter traps) is superior in this mode, because NPCs unlike players won’t step or dodge those and currently AoE abilities are just too strong in e.g. Lord room anyway.

Proposed solution to this problem:
-> Rework AI.
and/or
-> Reduce damage dealt by AoE sources to NPCs by ~50% or so.
This way AoE skills would be less opressive.

Seriously stop, the kind of match you are asking for would likely have a average combat time of maybe 20 seconds. Unless you’re the first guy on the focus list, then it’ll be like 4 seconds.

Wrong, just Zerkers/Marauders wouldn’t be viable ;-)

That means you have multiple viable builds which can let meta slowsly reshape rather than wait for next big patch, since you got options, which you don’t have now.

Also game you used as example has “trinity” for PvE reasons, in GW2 I believe healers and supporters are like -1 in PvE, so they don’t need to have such purposes as those in SW ;-)

It’s the same way with that game’s DPS too. i.e when I left that game all burst DPS specs where non-viable because hardswitching had been out of meta since season 2.

Your design system would be balanced if you considered “each build being desirable at some point during the game’s history” as balanced. However at a given time it means only a extremely limited number of builds are viable.

Now if you could make it so multiple diverse strategies where all viable at the same time your system would be amazing. Unfortunately that’s never happened and the conquest meta has been stagnant for a long time.

I’ve said it many times why CQ meta is stagnant. It’s because mode is too much focused on capping/decapping while side objectives (like killing Svarnir) often aren’t enough important to even bother with them, so perfect build doesn’t even have to be able to do objectives, but:

a) be good in sustaining and can keep point capped or prevent enemies from capping
and / or
b) be good at rotating

I believe CQ maps require a little reworks to make side objectives “harder” and be more important for victory, it could be done e.g. with completly reworking side objectives, or tweaking them (e.g. buffing Svarnir) while giving more points for doing them and reducing gains from capped points.

This way bruisers and bunkers would be less important so e.g. Minstrel Amulet wouldn’t be problem because guy who just hold point, wouldn’t have such impact as point holder but he would be rather important just as support in team fights around objectives.

I’ve played most major MMOs mostly for PvP since 1999 or 2000… and I can tell you that RA like TDM is perfect mode for following players:
-> Players who don’t have much time or just dislike wasting time in ques or lost matches that last eternity [matches are fast, there is no MMR so ques should be short]
-> Players who prefer action than capping and rotating around the map [action! no time wasted for rotating, runing around, respawning etc].
-> Players who hate playing against any kind premades.

RA suggested by OP wasn’t designed to be competitive nor he suggested it should replace conquest, but to be PvP mode for those who could enjoy it more than current one.

Think about the average TTK in this game.

Now think about what playing a gamemode where you will have 5 people focus firing will be like.

enough said.

And competitive in my last post means “any game where the participants are playing to win”

I guess it could force timer.
You know all those Cele Eles and Druids supporting each other ;-)

You know, boring and one sided matches would be fast, while those more balanced and enjoyable could last a while.

the point is, Stronghold was a total failure. especially given how much resources and time they dedicated to it. I would have preferred if they kept cranking out maps like Foefire, temple, and Nilfhel.

I really enjoy Stronghold, for sure more than Conquest. However I believe it still need alot of work and polishing.

Anyway who are you trying to convince with your weak argumens? Us, yourself or arena net? Convincing us is easy, convincing arena net…is not.

For sure not Anet, there were serval threads about bringing RA back or implementing some of its positives to current game mode [CQ] e.g. people wished to stay as winning team together for next match in Ranked if they have to be in same Q with Premades.

Anet obviously always ignored those threads, since ever.
