You always get at least 1 point for winning, and lose 1 point for a loss.
If X top team had played 15 matches and losing none, they would be rank 1-5.
I don’t get the point of your post, if nothing it shows how flawed the system is.
Going solo is now impossible.
If you’re at any half decent MMR ( mind, n ot rank) you get paired with full high rated teams ( no, i’m not talking about bad teams)
had 3 premades ( baddies) first 3 matches, stomped them with randoms.
Next 3 matches, old top 100 teams ( got AFK twice in a row).
So if you’re any decent, bye bye solo q.

I was referring to the fact that since a top team is always expected to win, they will always gain only 1 point per win, needing more wins than “average Joe” ( who’s expected to lose in at least 50% of his matches, consequentially gaining more points per win than " X top team".
If average Joe plays 100 matches, wins 50 and loses 50 ( no wide margin loss) he’ll get 70+ points.
If top team wins 70 matches and loses 30 ( against equally skilled top teams) they’ll end up pretty much like average Joe’s score.
This is not fair by any means.

Doesn’t change the sum anyway: if i beat a “way higher” team than mine, i’ll get just 1 more point than winning against teams about my MMR range.
Another reason why we need a wider point arrange.
Changing the scoring is certainly something that could be done. We’ll be looking at things like that, and for your opinions, at the end of the beta ladder season.

That would suck for the more rated team, since you’re lower than they are they wouldn’t be getting points. All lose and no win doesn’t seem very fun, so I doubt they’d enjoy it. Could be wrong though.

If #1 top team faces “who cares elo” team , there’s no reason why they should obtain more than 1 point.
Facts is with current system even 1 point is like 1/3 of the best possible score , reason why a wider arrange of points is totally needed.
Three 500-0 wins of a decent team against random pugs is worth the same than random pugs beating TCG, MIM or Abjured.

Having activity rewarded is indeed a good thing, but as current point system works, it’s nothing more but farming.
1. We need Brackets ASAP
Without brackets it’s impossible for high rated teams ( or individuals) to get even matches, they’ll get stuck into an ELO hell they won’t be able to escape from unless playing 5x times more then X “random Joe” who’s nothing more than decent.
2. Odds of Win chances needs to be worked around
It’s cool you don’t lose points if u play well in a match you were supposed to lose, point is there’s no real distinction among points earned.
Facts to be told, if u win against a highly more rated team, you’ll get 3 points just like if you were facing a “slightly better” team.
Moreover, not losing points when u lose ( even if the odds were against you) leads to a point where you shouldn’t even care about winning or losing, as long as you play well and carry you won’t lose too match while having the chance of earning points anyway.

You should ALWAYS lose points when you lose, at the very best u should lose LESS points, but not losing any points is not acceptable.
Imho the solution is very simple
We need a huge “point increase per win” and more “point loss” per loss.
Moreover the best “point score” needs to be awarded ONLY ( and i mean ONLY) if you play against EQUAL or MORE RATED teams than yours ( or better team average)
Of course to do this we need brackets.
Current system is perfect ( in theory ) but without these things it will be a disaster, cuz teams ( and specifically BEST teams) will never be able to have proper match ups, and even more since the “best ladder guise” are ( and WILL be) only the ones playing more, with a very little representation of the the “true skilled” players.
Ah and of course we need better rewards.

This last part is vital to the games success. I posted this many times over the last year on the forums. Please don’t sacrifice this ideal because it is so important. Some people will QQ about it. But they have vested interests. It is so important that less skilled people who play alot are rewarded.
I think what people might be forgetting, is that we also have tournaments, ESL cups, etc. to cater to those who want skill to be the absolute determinant.
Don’t worry about naysayers, current system is perfect ( on paper).
But you really have to fix the " u can’t do kitten while you’re in queue" issue.
It’s like the most kittening thing ever, even more than “q pop screen” popping every kittening 2 secs while we’re dueling.
What I mean is, I enter the match on my garbage Thief. We are waiting for the match to begin. I then swap to my really good Ranger. How is that handled?

I’ve tried Panic Strike, and I can say the match up vs Ele/Engi/Necro is easier than Crit Strikes. Sure you may not be able to hit has hard, but you have good condition removal due to Shadows Embrace, resulting in a better Win Ratio due to better sustain. Also the Improv trait gives you a second chance of regaining deception skills (Shadow Refuge, Shadow Step), which is big if you get off that RNG. With this said, Critical Strikes requires a higher skill cap, because you don’t have Shadows Embrace to make up for your mistakes when you get hit by massive conditions.. The immobilize from panic strike shuts down Engineer/Elementalist/Necro really well in small skirmishes/team fights if you coordinate it after their defensive cool downs. The immobilize cool down is on the same timer as Steal, so it is nearly always up for any engagement. I honestly think Panic Strike brings more in the Celestial Meta, to keep up with the sustain. Critical Strikes is still good if played right, but you have to play it on level similar to Caed to be effective against this meta, which is why Panic Strike is better in most situations. Counting dodges, landing steals, knowing when to burst, interrupting key skills, and awareness. It doesn’t matter which 2 of the builds you play, because you won’t be as effective if you don’t pick up the concepts I stated in the previous sentence. So really it comes down to preference and based on the situation.
Panic strike is simply better, simply put.
you have more damage on CS and that is all, as long as u crit ( which is really the crucial part imho) Panic strike build delivers pretty much the same dps as a CS with added benefits ( more sustain, more condi clear, impro procs, weakness etc..).
there’s no reason to not play panic strike over CS aside being a faget, like levin says.
One or the other, it’s your choice.

The track gives 7+ guaranteed golds if you sell the bags on trading post, if im not wrong it gives more gold than any other track and 20 slot bag + tomes of knowledge. So the track is quite good for those who always whine how they get no gold for PVP.

On multiple condi applications with the same skill, there’s no priority list.
it’s neither “last in first out” neither “specific tables”.
For example, signet of agility, when used after an incendiary powder proc on crit static shot ( 4 condis, bleed, conf, blind, burn) will remove them at random, without any set list of priorities.
After 2 years, condis are still randomly removed.
Official priority list ASAP.

Honest to god, rifle 4 NEEDS to be changed. Let’s get real folk’s, that’s the main problem with all the engi QQ going on.
It’s too frustrating as a player to be chain CC’d so frequently. Take it as you will but I personally think a lot of the frustration regarding engis recently has been the growing popularity of rifle as a weaponset and particularly the relatively low-skill builds of cele rifle and turrets.
Rifle 4 has the highest CC uptime on a target in the game.
If I may be so bold to offer a suggestion, I would recommend turning rifle 4 into a 2s daze and remove the self CC and well as keep the condi clear. I think this will still allow the fluid combat that gw2 players are used to. It would also prevent both players from being CC’d to incredible degrees which is really fustrating to watch.
I disagree rifle in its current form is fine the knock back is really the main reason to take rifle over pistol/shield. Also I still think pistol/shield is superior in most circumstances.

Also you should work on the community instead of pushing tournaments. I tried to find new players to replace underage / non european players for 2 month, but with the current size of PvP community it is almost impossible to find players of equal skill level.

The idea that people running a build you don’t find useful needs to be removed is just absurd. There almost literally are an infinite number of builds across all the professions that wouldn’t be up to your contribution standards. It’s not the dev’s fault some people are playing a build with low survivability at a low level, and it’s not the dev’s job to destroy any build someone can come up with that doesn’t contribute to your particular team.
Good news for you though, berserker ranger is very difficult to play well, so if people keep dying, you won’t see it anymore except in the hands of experienced rangers. Afterall, how many backstab thieves do you see now compared to at launch.
What you’re saying is true and is also true that such useless builds should be a choice in “low rank” games.
Point is this game has no tiers, mathcmaking is a mess so power rangers are literally screwing every match in which there more than 1 per team.
This is silly, every patch solo q gets worse due to “balance” and even the “few” good players who tryharded in solo q are now starting to afk at their rating, ruining solo q even more.
What needs to be done though? Judging from the responses in other threads (since I don’t PvP for anything other than build testing), Rangers aren’t doing well outside of low ranked soloQ.

This is true to a certain extent, mostly cuz matchmakin is totally screwed and even if you’re high ranked you get paired with way lower ranked players.

Lol don’t. A ranger literally spent 3 minutes AA me from the edge while I was standing on the fort node the other day. Easiest win ever. If you add the rapid-fire-in-reflect-skill-suicide rangers, these new foes overall added a lot of fun content to our dull soloq routine !

Am I the only one that understands that the the op is complaining that that the buff to longbow rangers is saturating his soloqueue matches with bad longbow rangers? The op in no way feels they are op, but rather feels they lack the skill and/or utility to be beneficial to the team, and instead waste a slot on the team that could’ve went to a better player/profession.

Take a look at PCI-E into the mainboard on CPU-Z and see if it’s at 1x instead of 16×.
Seems like this patch brought it to 1x for no reason whatsoever.
He’s right, PvP is almost perfectly balanced on high-level – quite awesome really, every class has a role and whatnot… On high-level… screw those low-level scrubs…
What he left out is the common issue with most people and playing PvP consistently… There is no reason to do so…
The top will nearly always stay on top, and this is sometimes a bit (too) disencouraging for lower-tiered teams…
Not only that, but the only reliable way to test your strength against them is either by asking them to battle, or to join the ESL weeklies… In game, who knows what you are up against…
This game needs a better distinction in tiers and level of play, SPvP, TPvP it doesn’t matter really…
The only issue you would create by introducing a system now, is having high tiered people almost never getting a match, or constantly being teamed up against the same people… This is now somewhat apparent, but dividing your whole community in tiers would make it debatably worse…Meh, just get another reward track to fuel the casuals, and make some nice shows of the higher tiered teams combatting for money… it is good enough…

People don’t play the game, even “top players” don’t play the game, they just afk in HoTM looking at their gear.
GW2 is probably the only game rewarding u for afking instead of playing,
there’s no progression,
matchmaking is absolutely terrible to the point playing just causes frustration ( in solo q due to terrible matchmaking, in team q due to top teams roflstomping pugs 90% of their queues),
no ladders,
no seasons,
no rewards,
and i could continue forever.
There’s no e-sport potential if you don’t have people playing the game, and even more if it’s THE VERY SYSTEM YOU CREATED the one discouraging people from playing.
To aggravate the issue even more, people are not getting better, they’re getting WORSE, EVERYDAY, especially new players, due to the amount of no brain builds and professions ( warrior in primis, being braindead for almost a year right now).
This game is not e-sport worthy, this game is a joke.

Right now during tog qualifier we got 5 seconds delay, we played a team q between the matches and oponents guard portet in downstate on point after we let him bleed 5 secs already, few seconds later he dcd.

I hate to break it to you, Mrbig, but that was one of the earliest solutions suggested. What you did is just reset all of your settings. If it had been a long time since you removed your local files, that could have definitely been a problem, but it was also one of the first things I tried — except, when I did it, and allowed it to reset my settings, I backtracked through all of my previous settings to find that it was High-Res Character Textures. For many this has fixed the problem. Others it hasn’t.
That was 21 days ago. It does appear that Coherent UI is also a major factor, but it’s not the whole story. I honestly think that the devs have as little a clue as we do as to what they screwed up.

I tried EVERYTHING i could before doing this ( cores unparking, options reseting, overclocked my both cpu and gpu to ridicolousness levels since i’m already on a high end rig).
The key step was to withdraw everything from BLTP in order to have nothing Coherent UI related while i was playing, i’m pretty sure i could have left both AppData folder and GW2 .tmp where they were.
Just do as i said, and your fps issues ( if you have any) will disappear
By deleting %appdata%/guild wars 2/, you reset your settings. In the past, your settings (Local.dat) could become bloated, which would reduce the performance of the game.
If you want to kill CoherentUI, you can do so by opening the task manager and ending its process.
I did way more than this. Since i noticed that killing it before launching the game would make the launcher crash and since killing it after entering the game did nothing to my fps, i encoded my process killer in order to stop it from starting then launched the game with the -autologin command line.
Still nothing.
Again, our fps issues have nothing to do with our rig or our options, or our folders.
IT’S THE BLTP.
Remove IN GAME everything BLTP related than reboot and the problem is solved.
After a month i decided to do the kitten by myself.
I decided it was aNet kitten coding fault so i said “it must be some kitten they added last patch” and the responsible was obvious to me:
Coherent UI.
Since working with coding didn’t work, i decided to do it uncoonventionally:
- went in game, removed all my transactions, took all the BLTP related stuff ( gold, stuff etc..)
- went into AppData, deleted roaming/gw2
- went into gw2 installation folder, deleted gw2.tmp
- reboot
- ????
- profit
All my fps issues disappeared.
So, new BLTP seems to interfere between Havoc ( gw2 engine) and some chipsets: mind it, it’s something they added ON PURPOSE, this says it all about devs code testing.
This may sound rough ( infact it is) but after a month of unplayable game it’s kinda ridicolous I WAS THE ONE to find out what was wrong and i’m not even a programmer, i just used my brain ( though i know they understood it way before me but were too arrogant to admit they broke the game for us due to poor testing).
Now fix your kittening game.
Don’t worry, it’s still not playable due to the lag caused by your cardboard servers.
TL:DR
Remove all BLTP related stuff and take all the things you have to withdraw, remove GW2 cache files, reboot and game will work properly again.
And don’t do anything BLTP related till they fix their coding.
What a shame.
