I would rather see when someone else is getting hit instead of me.
I did some dictionarying and if my interpretation was correct, their sentence should of said this:
“between tomorrow’s launch of the Feature Pack and 11:59 a.m. PT overmorrow, April 16!”
“Log In Tomorrow for Free Transmutation Charges
by The Guild Wars 2 Team on April 14, 2014
The April 2014 Feature Pack launches tomorrow! Among the many exciting features that we’ll be introducing is the account Wardrobe system, which makes it easier than ever to collect every possible look in Tyria! Through the Wardrobe, every cosmetic skin you collect will be made accessible to every character on your account.
To get you started with this new system, we’re giving away five free Transmutation Charges per account to everyone who logs in between the launch of the Feature Pack and 11:59 a.m. PT tomorrow, April 16! Visit the Promotions tab in the Gem Store to check out this and other offers!"
It’s not clear, mostly because tomorrow is april 15, not april 16, and what time is the launch? If I had to guess, I would say you get free charges between 12 pm on april 15 and 11:59 am on april 16? which would be a full 24 hours. yes?
also the home instance watchwork node gives about 1 per day.
12) some basic materials can be refined into two different refined materials (copper ore into copper ingot and bronze ingot, iron ore into iron ingot and steel ingot, platinum ore into platinum ingot and darksteel ingot). plus, there are a few recipes that call for non-refined materials (such as Superior Rune of the Engineer requiring iron ore, and also several potions of slaying). Both of these examples are not very common and you can usually just refine all materials.
to all those that Sarah’s rename/partial download/delete/rename is not working for:
first, are you sure you did it right? (you do not need to download the entire 20GB update)
second: what version of OSX are you running?
It seems like this works in OS 10.9 (Mavericks) but not 10.7 and earlier?
The wiki says GW2 requires 10.7 or later, so I guess that would mean that 10.7 is no longer supported?
pro·fes·sion
noun
1. a paid occupation, esp. one that involves prolonged training and a formal qualification.
class
noun
1. a set or category of things having some property or attribute in common and differentiated from others by kind, type, or quality.
I think that ‘profession’ works better for crafting and ‘class’ works better for character skill set. I just see crafting as a paid job, while your skill set is just who you are. Like, IRL you aren’t an american profession.
unless, of course: SPARTANS, WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!
Hello,
We’re going to need to spend some more time on getting a patching resolution. As this could carry into the weekday, the team would like to give you an optional workaround.
1. Rename your existing application file to something other than “Guild Wars 2”.
2. Download a new “Guild Wars 2.dmg” from here:
http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/branches/Gw2Setup.dmg
(or) from the account manager on guildwars2.com.
3. Open the file and install the application. This installation should fix the certificates issue you’ve been experiencing.
4. When the installer completes and the Guild Wars 2 client begins patching, close the application.
5. Delete the new “Guild Wars 2” application that the installer placed in your Applications folder.
6. Relaunch the original application that you renamed in step 1.
7. The application will patch to the latest version.Thank you for your patience and see you in Tyria!
~Sarah
this worked, thanks.
to others: you don’t need to download the whole client. just install this linked file, open the game, then when it starts to download the 20-something gigabytes, just quit it and trash this new download. good luck!
In general you should avoid level multiples of 5 (don’t buy level 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, etc. white stuff)
some of those are salvageable, but there are no basic-rarity non-salvageables whose level isn’t a multiple of 5.
1) TP not working. There are several temporary fixes out there: force quit cookied, set language to french then back, re-open GW2, trash the Library/Application support/Guild Wars 2 folder, … I want to see you try all of those every time you open the TP, then flip a coin: tails you get to use the TP, heads you have to wait an hour and try again.
2) Crashing when using high graphics settings.
3) Quicker response time on serious bugs. It seems if there is a tiny clipping bug on a newly released shoulder skin, it gets fixed within half an hour. mac client is reduced to 3 fps: takes 14 days.
4) Remove the word ‘Beta’. ‘Beta’ = The version of a software product that is used in the final stage of testing before it is commercially released. ‘Beta’ means there will be a final product. If this is the final product, it’s not a ‘beta’. Too many arguments about how poorly the mac client behaves go along the lines of, “you paid for an account to play GW2, if you choose to test their beta version on a mac, that’s up to you.” (not from developers – from other players)

Seems warrior is very popular! i will take this into consideration when picking.
For this very reason, I prefer playing non-warrior (favorite is mesmer). when I encounter other players in pvp / wvw, they have no idea how to fight you if you’re not a warrior.
Asura are also good in pvp / wvw as they are smaller. Anet says the target box is the same size, but good luck convincing anyone of that. little people always seem harder to click.
as for server: any near the top (top 6-10 or so) wvw ranks is good. If you’re not wanting to play wvw, then any high+ population server would do.
before you go buying fractal bags, know this:
these bags sort your items, similar to the craftsman bags, except the fractal bags sort weapons, armor, and trinkets you find.
Uncommon Equipment Box: if any slots are available in this box, all green (masterwork) equipment you find will go here first
Rare Equipment Box: same but for rare equipment
Exotic Equipment Box: same but for exotic equipment
No. The problem is that gw2 wasn’t made to work on a mac. They just packaged it into a windows emulator (wine), which itself is spotty at best. It’s not easy making a game that works on both platforms, and this is the result.
As much as I love macs, I agree that playing on bootcamp is less aggravating. Bootcamp has unnoticeably better fps. But more importantly, it has less game-breaking bugs such as this TP one.
unfortunately, these things happen more than infrequently. fortunately:
I always prefer ‘2014/9/4’
underwater weapon, perhaps?
I wish the Anomaly I have sitting in my bank wasn’t soulbound, otherwise I would give it to you. (I woke up one day and realized I had too many glowy things and they made me a light bulb, so I had to cut back)
If you still run out there’s something quite wrong with the way you’re managing your drops, or you’re a major TP trader.
The word you’re looking for is ‘hoarder’
// new character with 4×15-slot bags = 97s/space
new character = 800 gems = 72g (ish)
4 × 15-slot bags = 4 × 1g = 4g
20 + 15 + 15 + 15 + 15 = 80 slots
(72g + 4g) / 80 = 95s/slot
// new character with 4×18-slot bags = 91s/space

// new character with 4×20-slot bags = 1g20s/space

20 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 = 146 slots
(72g + 108g+ 14g) / 146 = 1g33s/slot
// character + 3 bag expansions with 7×20-slot bags = 1g65s/space
new character = 800 gems = 72g (ish)
3 x bag expansions = 3 × 400 gems = 3 × 36g = 108g (ish)
7 × 20-slot bags = 7 × 10g = 70g
20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 160 slots
(72g + 108g + 70g) / 160 = 1g56s/slot
I think I was using the sell listing price before, these new prices would be more accurate if you’re on a budget.
one 15-slot bag = 6s66c/slot
one 18-slot bag = 11s11c/slot
but the cost of the new character is so high in comparison that it is more economical:
72g/15 = 4g80s/slot
72g/18 = 4g/slot
(edited by Mystic.5934)
also not working for me.
gerrrrrrrrrr
I’d craft these bags for my mains. 5-10x cost of 20-slot bags sounds reasonable.
I did some math:
guild bank 50 = 10s/space
guild bank 150 = 30s/sapce
guild bank 250 = 42s/space
bank expansion = 1g80s/space
new character with 4×15-slot bags = 97s/space
new character with 4×18-slot bags = 91s/space
new character with 4×20-slot bags = 1g20s/space
character + 3 bag expansions with 7×15-slot bags = 1g52s/space
character + 3 bag expansions with 7×18-slot bags = 1g37s/space
character + 3 bag expansions with 7×20-slot bags = 1g65s/space
collection expander: at 1g20s/space for a bank slot, getting 1x collection expander would be cheaper if it saves 40 or more spaces (getting 2x would be cheaper if it saves 80 or more)

I have a ton of cheap superior sigil runes juuuust incase they can be used in the newly upgraded forge.
Very low risk since I bought them 1 c above vendor price.
I did that a year ago. held onto like 30 stacks for around 4 months, then got fed up and vendor’ed them. 30 × 250 × 1c = 75s lost on 162g speculated. I find that once you bet on an item and it fails, you don’t want to bet on it again :P I wish you luck.
with orrian boxes, it’s about 30,000 karma → 1g
from that, it would be 1,500 karma → 5s
so 500 karma for 5s isn’t bad at all
There are chef recipes that probably give better returns (things like buy a banana for 3 karma, mix with something you bought for 1s, sell for 2s)
my bank alt has tailor lvl 500 and lots of ascended recipes. I don’t want to delete her, but it would be nice if a character I actually played had the profession instead. The kicker: she can’t store many items because she needs to have room available to craft items.
similarly, I’d like to rearrange the professions on my other characters… weaponsmith and chef don’t compliment each other at all.
I agree with everything Hayashi said.
whenever the daily forge ach is up, first thing I do is go on the TP and buy 20 major sigils for ~2s50c each = 50s. throw them in the forge, you’ll statistically get 4 majors and 1 superior out (last night I got 2 majors and 3 superiors
). 1 superior sells for ~60s on average, throw the 4 majors back in for a chance at another superior.
Also, FWIW, crafting Ascended Materials from 450-475 will save you a ton of cash if you have the mats.
Do you actually know how much ascended mats you need to refine to gain 25 levels?
At 15 silver and 4.2k karma per refinement, i wouldnt neccessarily suggest to craft more than you actually need, as they dont have any resale value either.
bloodstone/dragonite/empyreal are not ideal to refine, but the others are. it does take a lot… I would guess around 150 refinings, but each one will give a profit when sold, so you’re essentially leveling for free – it just takes 2 months.
crafting boosters do give extra exp at discovery. as a result, all it will do is decrease how many exotics you need to discover to get to 500.
so instead of 19-20 to get from 450 to 500, you need 12-13
based on what you said, I’ll recommend you could get the most gold from the least time by doing crafting. by ‘least time’, I mean: 5 min to place buy orders, wait an hour, craft for 30 min, 5 min to sell everything, wait a day, collect gold.
a decently good spot to start making a profit crafting: http://www.gw2spidy.com/crafting/3
(it also has pages for the other professions)
most of the professions can make about 50-100g/day from about 30 active min of buying/crafting (but would require around 300g initial investment). you just have to be selective about what you make. It will take longer at first to learn what to make, but once you know, things will go quicker.
my guess: any wvw map, probably right next to the wvw laurel merchant.
Initial Cost 19g81s60c
Expected Recovery 1g27s6c
Expected Final Cost 18g54s54c
these numbers will likely be slightly different when you go there
http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft.html
never use them on rares, only on exotics so that you can sell the insignia/medallion you get from salvaging it, sometimes for each salvage you can get 3.5g our on top of the ectos
you shouldn’t even use them on most exotics. only some exotics. a good guide would be only exotics worth 3g-12g. below that and you should use Master Salvage Kit. above that, and you should sell it on the TP instead. there are some within that range that should use MSK or be sold instead of salvaged, but you can do more research for individual items if you want to get picky.
I would be fine with reducing BLSK costs. but their current price isn’t really a problem for me. I still buy them by the dozens. I usually wait for a sale on them, then buy 2 full bank tabs :P But I’m almost out (since dec)… I should of bought 3 or even 4, but I ran out of friends to exchange presents with.
Don’t see it as the best of something you must use. you should pick and choose what you use them for. Like copper ore – you wouldn’t exactly want to use an ori mining pick on it. It’s just something that’s there for you to use if you find that using it would be the most beneficial.
Assuming you’re going to use that many +1’s. Now the time it would to craft it all would take ages, and you don’t need a +30 agony infusion at all (yet). But yes, it can be possible to craft it.
The time it takes to craft an infusion is 1s. I think the 2nd one is faster... maybe 1/2 as long? iuno. let’s just say it takes 1/4 second to upgrade an infusion. Then it would take 67,108,864 seconds just to make all the +2 infusions needed for a +30 infusion. that’s 2.13 years. Total, it would take over 4.25 years to go from +1’s to +30. Now let’s assume one person with lots of gold is paying 10,000 people to do that crafting for them (kinda like buying it off the TP). each person would have to do 3.72 hours of crafting. not farming; crafting - watching the bar slide across the screen. each person would need to start with 214.7 stacks of +1 infusions.
A forum for and by ANet staff only, dedicated to announcements of this sort. And I believe it was also on the log in screen for a while.
I disagree. for starters, the login screen would only show a link to that forum, as it always does. but aside from that, the ‘news and announcement’ thread is majority announcements of billing maintenance, whatever that is. 2nd most common is servers being down.
If the login screen actually said “As of March 18th, Alliance Supplies will stop dropping and you will not be able to receive any new Found Belongings or Found Heirlooms. Related to this, you will no longer be able to turn in Found Belongings and Found Heirlooms for items.” instead of taking up the same amount of space to give you a link to a page which is behind a login wall, and you have to guess that it is something actually important for you to see instead of another billing maintenance, then I would be sooooo happy.
agreed, but then precision would be OP, so it would need to be nerfed to compensate.
I would love to have a personal army of mistfire wolves, especially in wvw. a wolf pack, if you will.
it would be even better if my clones also had wolf companions.
Is this sale still going on today? I forgot to buy it yesterday and will check as soon as I get home, but that’s like 5 hours from now and I’m worried I missed it. hate 1-day sales.

hardcore mode is always an option (just choose not to repair your stuff and destroy it yourself when it breaks)
keys have something like a 1 in 500 chance of something that’s 500 times better than other stuff that come out of them. most of the time you will be disappointed. But every now and then, someone wins the lottery and makes others want to try.
I believe someone said +30 was the highest, that there was no item code for +31.
it’s not 800 million, it’s 536,870,912
it also requires 8 million gold worth of Thermocatalytic Reagents
this happens to me all the time, but it’s always temporary – it goes away after about 5-10 seconds.
account bound, yes probably.
duplicates? should be useful. I doubt they will put trinkets into the wardrobe, as you can’t see them. same reason you can’t transmute them. the wardrobe sounds like it just stores skins, not stats. So if you have eternity, you have the skin in your wardrobe but not the legendary stats.
Items I’ve Sold: 90,936 – first item sold: unid dye for 5s20c
Items I’ve Bought: 230,746 – first item bought: 8-slot leather pack for 25c
if only the mortars were worth manning… even if they weren’t under attack and required several defenders, you deal more damage standing near his foot.
what can I say? everything it gives is normally way overpriced as well.
It took me like 5 pages of regular expressions to get all the items. It only includes sigils and runes worth like 20s or more, so it’s not complete, but I figure if the rune is worth any less than that, it won’t be profitable to salvage anyways.
else if(preg_match("/Yakkington\’s/",$row[’name’])) $socket="Superior Rune of the Traveler";
if(preg_match("/Shaman’s |Tahlkora’s |Reyna’s |Jalis\’ /",$item[’name’])) $craft="Shaman’s Intricate Gossamer Insignia";
and my favorite:
else if(preg_match("/ of /",$item[’name’])) $socket=preg_replace(’/(.*?) of (.*?)/i’,"Superior Rune of $2",$item[’name’]);
(edited by Mystic.5934)
Still seem to me that the price of the rune and the insignia should be taken into account instead of just going with the buy price of the exotic.
In your example, if Yakkington’s Pauldrons is selling dirt cheap at 2.5g instead of 8.3g, by your rule you would be using MSK, but:
with MSK, costs 61c to salvage, 80% chance of traveler rune (7.5g) + 42% chance of insignia (1.26g) + 1.25 ecto (48s) = 9.2g back – 15% tax = 7.85g – 2.5g to buy it = 5.35g
with BLSK, costs 1.1g to salvage, 100% chance of traveler rune (9.4g) + 61% chance of insignia (1.83g) + 1.65 ecto (63s) = 11.86g – 15% – 1.1g kit = 8.98g – 2.5g to buy it = 6.48g profit
You would get more profit using BLSK instead.
I did say “BLSK vs. MSK is actually based on what the salvaged materials are worth, but that’s harder to calculate, especially quickly” It took me like 10 min to write up those two examples, and I had the prices on-hand. If someone who’s never dealt in these before were advised to do that for every exotic they find, they would just throw up their hands and sell it instead.
How do you figure out Jalis’ Armor can give you Shaman Insignia? Just because it is a named armor? Any other named armor also gives insignia?
I did a lot of work with this to find every exotic and what insignia/inscription it can drop. As Wanze said, you look at the stats and see if there is a recipe to make the insignia for those stats. Jalis has shaman stats, and there is no recipe to make shaman’s insignia, so I bought a few jalis armors, salvaged them, got some insignia, and recorded it as able to drop insignia. all celestial items are crafted, so they can not drop inscription/insignia.
There are a few inscription/insignia that are very hard to come by. sentinel’s being one of them (wanze explained it), but the others are soldier’s and magi. basically the only source of these two are dungeon exotics (also some Armageddon armor from fotm).
it is worth some. I looked it over a few weeks ago and decided a fair price would be around 300 gems, with 500 gems being the highest I would ever pay for it.
HD has zero impact on performance. all that SSD will do is decrease loading times (takes 5 seconds to waypoint instead of 20)
RAM will only impact performance if you’re low on it. I believe GW2 only requires 2GB of RAM. your OS will need some, but any extra above that will not improve performance at all (unless you also want to play starcraft and watch a movie and edit your midterm – all at the same time)
two things about what you said will cause your biggest problem: “laptop” and “max graphics settings”. high-end desktops are barely able to maintain high fps with max graphics in a wvw zerg. laptops are never as good as desktops. This laptop will need to be the top of every line if you want to even get close to what you’re describing. I am highly doubtful that €1250 will be enough.
Easier solution is just use middle graphics instead. there is very little difference, and you’ll get twice the fps and be able to do it on a cheaper computer.
next year we’ll probably be pixelated like moto. it will be A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
