except Anet doesn’t change something just because it should be different; they need a reason to change it, like there are so many exotics in the game that they sell for 10s and something needs to be done to drain the exotics from the game.
upgrade extractor does that for the low-low price of ~20g. so better make sure those infusions and runes are worth it (it’s most likely cheaper to buy new infusion/rune than extract yours.
They are the same. Your sample size is pathetically small to try and provide any evidence otherwise, come back with 5 digits.
This. always this.
I won’t even test it myself unless you show me 4 digits of samples.
I thought these and the damage booster and the armor booster and regen booster and maybe another booster I can’t think about weren’t usable in pvp and wvw?
I will point out that they are doing something similar to what you want:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-March-18-2014/first#post3845281:
“Trading
Rumors tell of a merchant interested in items from major events in Tyria’s recent history, including Blade Shards. Players are encouraged to hold on to these items if they are interested in trading with her when she appears.”
I would guess it buys other account-bound things as well, such as Fortune Scraps or Gauntlet Tickets? Maybe code fragments and heirlooms? Basically any LS non-standard currency.
those rotten boosters!
birthday booster did NOT increase how much karma I got from under leveled fractals
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Birthday_Booster:
“Birthday Booster
…
Karma boost is in the description but is not in the buff you get.”
does it actually affect karma but just not say it?
you know those generic gold bricks the size of a shoe that crooks are always stealing from banks in movies? In RL, those things are about 30 pounds each (~$520k). It’s always funny when they put 5-10 in a backpack and run away.

I’ve seen this hat recently and got really excited about buying one with gems. looked it up and was sad about the source. I was playing the game back then, but was never told about free stuff.
the prices are changed to reasonable prices
let me ‘splain something to ya… prices are dictated by players’ willingness to buy or sell items at different prices. If you change how much my items are listed for, I’m going to be quite kittened. You can’t just say “you’re going to sell this for 10s and that’s that” because I’ll just say “no one is buying it for 10s, so I’m just going to not sell it and save myself 50c in listing fees”
Whose fault is it that they didn’t watch the interviews and get some information on upcoming changes?
In my opinion arenanet should not constantly release information that affects the economy before the patches hit, it will be implemented anyway so why the hell telling people what will change beforehand, it accomplishes nothing as most of the player base doesnt watch livestreams and they dont read forums and fansites they just play the game as it is…but some few % of the playerbase still profit of that information
+1
the only info about a patch should be in the patch notes, which are released 2 seconds after everyone is kicked from the game and forced to download the patch.
also, the patch notes should be on the download screen.
you can never be quick enough. I’ve had this happen before:
2g -> 21 gems
2g1s -> 21 gems
2g2s -> 22 gems
2g3s -> 21 gems
someone, somewhere in the world, at any time, will be converting gems to gold or visa versa which messes with the price.
to answer OP’s question, I’ve always observed that it takes the amount of gold you enter and not the exact price of those gems. because of this, I usually will get as specific as the silver. so 2g9s -> 22 gems. I just keep increasing silver by 1 until the gem amount goes up.
your suggestion would be great to have.
Those people are like unicorns…
glittery with a vicious killing device surgically grafted onto their body?
you can’t just place a price limit on an item on the TP. markets don’t work that way. If the price for Spark is 1300g and Anet puts a 500g limit on it’s price, it simply won’t sell. No one would sell it for 500g. There would be 300,000 buy orders and 0 listed. How would this happen? for the most part, people would stop forging it. but any drops of it people get, they would craft the legendary and sell that instead, because the price of the Incinerator would go up 200% due to lack of supply of it’s precursor.
screenshot showing the ascended inscriptions you are able to make and that the zojja’s inscription is already learned?
let’s take a step back.
you talk to the vendor
go to inscriptions
at the bottom you buy “Recipe: Ascended Inscription”
you double-click that item in your inventory, select “Recipe: Zojja’s Berserker Inscription”
you then double-click that item in your inventory, and you’ve learned it.
is that everything that has happened? most people in your situation don’t realize all the recipes you have to open.
anyways, if you have indeed learned it, it’s under the “Inscription” tab of your craft (the top of that section – above orichalcum inscriptions). I assume you’re trying to make it from either weaponsmith, huntsman, or artificer? it won’t show up on armor crafts.
another thing that comes to mind is maybe you deselected ascended from appearing in the list. there’s this little arrow near the top of the production tab that you can select what sort of things are shown – rarity of one of the things you can filter by.
I am no longer confused!
badge and karma items should be forgeable and salvageable, but I think it’s foolish to think they would affect the precursor price in the least bit. 10 attempts is nothing – maybe 1/10 chance at a precursor, and 10k badges is a LOT.
I would say 1:10 would be a more likely conversion.
I really think people need to stop treating precursors as special items and not just exotics with more than one purpose.
I would prefer a dropdown menu for ‘weight’ and one for ‘profession’, but any of the above would be nice. (what if you want to buy something for your new alt ranger but you’re currently on a mesmer)
a precursor vendor would be nice. or just a recipe to make them. But a reasonable price is not exactly what you are looking for:
a precursor vendor should charge 250 laurels and 1000 badges of honor and 1000 dungeon tokens (which one depends on the precursor) and 200 SP and 500g and maybe also 250 obsidian shards?
I do agree that precursors should be tradable (as they are), but legendaries should be perma-account bound (non-tradable). They are supposed to be the ultimate expression of lifetime achievement, yet they can be purchased for gold.
I’m not sure what the question was? everything you said appears correct.
However, because there are no crafting stations in the vigil keep, I would not call it a common meeting area, despite it actually being a hub to all the major cities and wvw and stuff. Metrica basement, for example, has a far higher player count than vigil keep.
Crafting takes first from your inventory, then your bank, then your collections.
and within inventory and bank, it will take from from each section top to bottom, then left to right.
a good way of doing it would be a chest in the bottom right that gives you what you purchase. or gem store purchases appear before your other mail. It’s lazy that the ability to get the items you pay money for would be dependent on an empty inbox. hence; bug. not all bugs are game-breaking.
Is it still a bug that you need to have less than 10 mails in your inbox for you to be able to get items you bought on the gem store? (free item = bought for 0 gems)
-Does this mean, I just dump these 4 ingredients into the mystic forge and out comes my sword?
yes
-Is this a guaranteed thing? (100% or is there a chance of failure or i get something stupid i dont want?)
this forge recipe is guaranteed. There are others that are random, but not these specific items
-Do I need to be a certain crafting level to do this, particularly for Whisperblade?
99% sure you can craft it at level 2.
-Are there any other pre-reqs for me to do this? Do i need to first research the ingredient list somehow? something like that I dont know about?
not directly (only pre-req is that you need to be able to acquire the ingredients, and whisperblade requires 50 Skill Points, so you will likely be above level 80 when you get that, but you could easily give that Eldritch Scroll to an alt to forge whisperblade).
Just have all the ingredients in your inventory (Eldritch Scroll, 100 Mystic coins, 250 Orichalcum Sword Blade, 250 Glob of Ectoplasm), talk to the Mystic Forge, put them in the 4 slots, and press ‘Forge’. If ‘Forge’ doesn’t become clickable when you put all 4 in there, then try taking them out and putting them back in, maybe in a different order. It usually isn’t, but can sometimes be finicky.
some more info: when you get it, if you do nothing to it, you can give it to other characters you have or sell it on the TP, etc. But as soon as you equip it or add a new sigil to it it will be soulbound to that character. So make sure it’s on the character you want it to be on before seeing how it looks. (you can preview it on any character without soulbinding it, just don’t equip it)
I think the only limitation is that weapons can’t be mixed with other types. I believe armor and trinkets can be mixed, including the different armor types. Just can’t mingle weapons in there. They do all have to be the same rarity (can’t do rare + exotic)
I did like having a bank account vs. on-hand cash. made it less likely that I would mistakenly pay too much for something on the TP. However, now I just make less mistakes, namely; zero. So I’m glad for the account-wide wallet.
I have felt for a while that I am in a similar situation to OP, and I arrived at a completely different perspective. let me explain:
Basically, I make more gold than I use by spending a few hours a week on the TP.
That allows me to play the game for fun and never have to worry about farming or mindless champ trains or temple runs or yada yada yada. I can focus on fun things instead of spending hours, days, even months to grind out those better pixels.
loot should not be buffed to be on par with TP trading. That will do 2 things: cause massive inflation (like spending 40s to get 1 copper ore) and make TP trading even more profitable (If people have twice as much gold to spend on stuff, TP traders will make twice the profit by selling to them)

I think this wouldn’t be the first time they do a promotion in the gem store, then announce that it’s there a few days later.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists
level 38 gets 12 from each boss chest and 35 for the daily at the end.
They do sell. The first one I sold sold within 6 hours. The second and third one sold in about 20 and 36 hours. I always check spidy before selling expensive things, but for legendaries I would undercut the previous lowest listing by about 50g. 50g is less than half of the listing fee, so to take 50g less to ensure you don’t have to relist is worth it to me.
It’s actually “TP Wars 2”, btw.
and we make items cheaper for you
instead of buy orders of 10s and sell listings of 60s for ecto, we equilibrate it to 35/36. 10s if you’re looking to sell it and 60s if you’re looking to buy it is a pretty crummy proposition.
If you want to see no one play the TP, then just sell everything you have via sell listing and buy everything via buy order. Then you can wait for things to be filled instead of us. Most of our coin is made by making purchases more convenient to everyone else.
1v1 short fights (regular mob), dps is better
1v1 long fights (soloing a elite/champ/other player), conditions is better
>5v1 fights, good to have a couple condition-appliers, but dps for vast majority is better
for zerg battles, it’s actually better to have a couple players that are pure condition builds then the rest apply zero conditions. because if a dps build applies a bleed, that bleed is not going to deal nearly as much damage as a condition build’s bleed, yet it takes the spot of it.

I was wondering why there weren’t any exotic dyes when I went dye-investing last week.
underleveled fractals. no question about it.
get your fractal level to like 30, then do level 20 fractals. you get about 8,000 karma after the 4th fractal, and the full run should take about 1 hour. so that’s 133 karma/min.
half way through the final boss I will frequently drop a heroes banner, eat some ice cream, and use a karma booster if I have one. once I dropped a karma bonfire. my parties tend to love me :P plus I have karmic infusion. +80% karma on 8k = 14,400 karma (240 karma/min). You would get even more karma if you got your personal level to 40 then ran level 30 fractals (8,800 karma) or even 50 then ran 40 (9,600 karma), but it would probably take more than an hour per run at that point.
The most karma you can get is at 10 levels below your personal level.
The only trouble is that it takes an hour to get to the 4th fractal boss again, so the booster will possibly not last that long, so I usually do EotM or EB for the rest of the hour. Honeslty, it’s more to mix things up than to maximize karma income, as I’ve done almost 1000 fractal runs in my career.
this is all not even mentioning the fractal relics. each level 20/21 run will get you about 70-100 relics (including pristine relic), which can be directly turned into 5-7 obby shards (a 12,000-karma-value, yours free!)
From my experience, you get more dark matter from the BLSK than the mystic salvage kits. I was using mystic and when I switched to BLSKs there was a noticeable increase in frequency of getting dark matter.
I love people using me.
they will probably add a azurite node to your home for 1000 gems with a rare chance at an orb.
I’ve noticed it weighs when the damage was delt, not just total damage.
so the first 5% damage delt is less likely to get loot vs. the last 1% damage delt.
some other weirdness: when killing other players, even a slight tap will get you full credit.
I would like to point out: as an example, with a big zerg, The Shatterer has upwards of 8 million HP. probably more now with his revamp. point being that if you sneak in 10,000 damage, that’s just 0.125%.
I love getting credit for an event for killing a champ but not credit for killing the champ :P

well that escalated quickly.
along these lines, has anyone else noticed that rares have gone up a lot in price since the wardrobe release? I did a few world bosses this weekened, and when I went to price-check the rares, about half were above kitten . about a quarter were above 60s. Are that many people just buying rares to salvage and complete their wardrobe? a couple weeks ago it seemed everything sold for low 30’s.
I almost never buy rares to salvage just for ectos. If I do, it’s because the item has a socket that makes it worth more. Sometimes you get lucky, but there are thousands of people looking for exactly that – because it’s easy to look for: go to the TP, filter by weapon or armor, set it to rare level 68-80, sort by price, buy the first 10 or so.
I have a list of like 20 rares and 200 or so exotics that are less easy to search for, and those are profitable to salvage for ectos + socket + inscription.
Now, if I get a rare as a drop, I’ll first check it’s TP price. If it sells for more than the cost of buying an ecto, I’ll sell it on the TP. If it sells for less, I’ll salvage it with a Master SK.
but the zones could still only be affected later in the year, even if megaserver came around sooner than that
That link says chest armors salvage to 1-5 scraps instead of 3-5.
If you get an average of 4 scraps for salvaging chest armor, then the De Molish chest armor comes out ahead (462 karma per scrap versus 532), but if you get an average of 3 scraps per salvage, then the Crab Grabbin’ gloves come out ahead. (616 karma per scrap versus 532)
I’ve tested amount of basic materials salvaged from items – not a large test, but enough to get at least some numbers (about 150 of each type item). leather and cloth coats give 3.1 materials, leather and cloth other gives 2.1 materials, metal coat gives 2.45 ore, metal other gievs 1.35 ore.
Yes, they are. Though I think it was said, that in time we’ll be able to salvage the rings.
I must know where this was said?
I think I have a contender for worst chest opening:
WXP Booster
Trading Post Express
Trading Post Express
(I already have a perma TP contract)
I dare you to show me a dye that is worth more than at any other point in the last 3 months.
not great examples, but much closer than your were likely expecting:
Limonite Dye
Vincent Dye
^_^
you are right about almost all dyes out there, but there are a few that aren’t included
I think a big reason dye prices haven’t plummeted to nothing is because people are buying them to save for when they are really valuable again. Kinda hard for them to get to 5s when people are buying 1000’s at 20s.
that’s what flippers do, yes.
It usually takes a while because you’re waiting on the buy order to be filled, then you’re waiting on the sell listing to be filled. longer on low velocity items like this, much shorter on higher velocity items like globs of ecto (you’ll note that the spread between buy and sell is almost always much smaller on high velocity items).
I previously guessed this item sells about 4-7/week, so you’d be looking at about 1-2 days before buy order was filled and 1-2 days before sell listing was sold (assuming you maintained the highest buy order and lowest sell listing, which can be pretty annoying to refresh).
In reality, people will undercut you within minutes/hours and their order would be filled first, so expect to wait much longer than this, though I have been pleasantly surprised before: This one time, on the TP, I placed a buy order for 20g on some exotic trinket (Jan ‘13), it was filled in under 10 minutes, I then listed it for 55g, and it sold within 20 minutes. such fond memories of easy money.
If you want an even higher profit flip, check out Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin’s 630g profit
