I always do 10 recipe until I get to 70, then I do 1 recipe.
first time I made a legendary, it took over 300 obby shards to get 77 (average is supposed to be about 230)
second time, it took about 190 obby shards
third and fourth time, it took about 210 obby shards

that second time… got really lucky getting to 60 (like 8 craftings), then a huge dry spell for that last group of 10.

looks like it :P serves me right for not reading mails

Do what I did and take a break from being a too blunt with people. I was like 300 seconds between post and now I am only at 120 seconds.

I probably should do that too. I think I said too many offensive or negative thing about the game. And everytime I post, I’m afraid I’ll get an infraction.

And many times, I regret putting up post and end up deleting them.

You can say whatever you want about the game, you cant just direct your comments are someone specific in my case a developer or other posters.

Most of my infractions were for non-flattering generalizations, like “a person might know better, but you just know that the general population is too stupid not to fall for that scam.” For that, they said I was too aggressive to specific people. I really wish part of the website bugs forum was dedicated to infraction stories.

this does not remove any more gold than would already of been removed. it does not increase wp costs or make you wp more often. If you’re redirected, then you wouldn’t of been able to wp to the one you wanted anyways. yes, redirection has been in the game since launch (if you wp somewhere, and in that 20 sec loading screen it becomes contested, you redirect somewhere else). the only change now is that it’ll just say all wp’s are uncontested so you won’t know if you get redirected until the screen loads.

personally, I think they should decuple all wp fees (times 10). so 20s instead of 2s. People are so lazy (myself included) – I’d rather actually have to think about if I want to wp instead of it being essentially free. I never walk anywhere. and not a direction 10x cost – low level should stay at current amounts, but after level 70 it should sharply increase.

more variety is always nice, but capes are too similar to so many things we already have. not so much back items, but a lot of coats are cape-like.

100 festival tokens = 1 obby shard
sanctum sprint awards about 40 tokens for 1st place, and one race every 7 min or so. so 342 tokens per hour, or 3.4 obby shards per hour.
not too shabby actually.
EotT used to be my next-best karma farming suggestion, and it nets about 400 karma / 5 min = 4,800/hr = 2.3 obby shards per hour.
I believe aspect arena would be less shards/hr, just because it awards about half as much and takes longer.

ic ic. didn’t notice that ad. yeah, 12 =/= 10.4. but 12 is a worse deal than 10.4 (at 12 gems → 1 gold, then it would take 15.2 gold → 100 gems; we’ll get there within a few weeks)

If you got a tournament rewards chest, you got far more than 250 badges in the process of getting it.

for the highest obsidian shards per time, I recommend underleved fractals. get your personal level to 31 (or 41), then run fractal level 21 (or 31). 10 levels below your personal level will give the most karma you can get. and the higher the level, the higher the karma and relics.
each run will get you about 55 fractal relics (plus 30 more each day) + 7,000 karma
I like my karmic infusion also, banners and boosters will increase this. most I’ve got was 13,000 karma from one run. and each run takes about an hour
anyways, 55 relics = 3.66 obby shards. 7,000 karma = 3.33 obby shards. = 7 obby shard per hour (+2 more each day). 300 / 7 = 42 hours

the current price is 13.2g → 100 gem and 100 gem → 9.6g
or: 1g → 7.6 gem and 10.4 gem → 1g

on may 13, spidy says 100 gems → 7.2g or 13.8 gems → 1 gold
so, they did approximate a bit, but not so far off. and they advertised as a worse deal for you than what it really was. how much would you rather pay for 1 gold? 15 gems or 13.8 gems?
the most recent time it was 15 gem → 1 gold was april 25. only 2.5 weeks before their advertisement. personally, I wouldn’t say they lied. sure, not 100% true, but what little it wasn’t true was not true in your favor. It would be like AT&T claiming 90% cell coverage, except by the time the ads aired it was actually 92%.

once upon a time, they gave out 400 gems to the first 1,000 or so people who did some sort of linking their account with the facebook gw2 page.
they’ve also offered everyone a reward if their facebook page got 1,000,000 followers. I believe we got up to like 950,000 by their time limit. The reward was going to be an achievement + communal boost bonfire + consumable that gives 24 hours of 200% mf and gf + 3 fireworks.

slightly off-topic, I know, but I’m just throwing out their that they have given in-game rewards for out-of-game stuffs before.

what would it measure? how many items are found and sold to merchants? salvaged for materials? crafted and sold on the TP? crafted and MF’ed? would TP flipping be included in any way?
GDP is usually a measurement of what is produced, which is great for RL, but less definitive in video games where 10 gold ore → 5 gold ingot → 1 gold band + 1 gold setting + 1 lump of amethyst → amethyst gold ring, which is then salvaged into 2 gold ore and maybe a lump of amethyst.
JS does have info about how many eternities are bought, how many ectos are salvaged, etc. every now and then you can trick him into giving us a tidbit of that info.

In terms of story-wise, there isn’t any. They were added to the game about a year ago as a drop to the Lost Orrian Jewelry Boxes as the primary way Anet wants you to convert karma into gold. When they first came out, everyone was trying to find hidden uses for them, due to their speculation-inducing name.
Later, champ bags were added.
Later, unid objects were added to champ bags.

I’ve often wondered what the merchant is doing with so many dandelions and sticky goo and rocks and parts of animals (hoof, talon, fur, shell, fang, claw, bone, fin, leg)

I realized this weekend I had enough gold, karma and SP for another batch of legendaries. Just missing map completion.
this guy on reddit went from 0 to 100% completion in 58.8 hour.
My next alt is at at about 30% completion after random playing with her, so I figure about 41.2 hours to go (though I am not going to do it all at once).
This will get me 2 legendaries, which I expect to make about 850g profit on each. 1700g/41.2hour = 41.3g/hour
It’ll probably take me longer than that redditor (I gather things and do events I happen across), but I’ll also get additional loot, so 41.3g/hour a valid expectation.

if they blink they can face a new direction. also a few other skills that can do it. but in general, immobilized can’t turn.

clearly you aren’t away of sigil and rune crafting and how specific it is. for example, if I want a Superior Rune of the Ranger, I walk up to a leatherworker station, throw in 1 Onyx Lodestone + 1 Vicious Fang + 1 Cured Hardened Leather Square, and out pops one Superior Rune of the Ranger. Almost every sigil and rune is craftable. But the few that aren’t are why you are throwing so many majors into the toilet.

I hate defiance. this suggestion would not make it any better.
personally, I think everything about enemy npcs should scale relative to their rank and how many players are nearby. higher the scale, lower the effect of cc. so with 40 players, that 3 sec stun becomes 0.075 second delay (wouldn’t interrupt an attack, but would slow it down), for example.

‘mob’ could be non-npc IMO. no fun screenshot, but we were in a small skirmish in EotM the other day. like 4 of us and 5 enemy players. We were all on a bridge, and everyone was invulnerable. Couldn’t hurt each other, even though we kept trying. I started dancing. Then I was Shield-of-Absorption’ed off the edge. It’s like: “uhhhh, I want to be killing you right now but I seem to not be able to”

for mesmer portals, they do have a max range, and the game doesn’t tell you what that is. But I have a rather easy way to determine it: if you have your minimap zoomed in all the way and it’s pulled to it’s largest size, a portal will almost reach the edge of your minimap. so just mentally mark where you placed the portal, then run until that spot is close to the edge of the map, place the exit portal (by edge I mean the flat edges – not the corners)

there is never any time I want all those dropdowns open. 100% of the time, when I open a crafting window, I want all of those to be closed. In fact, when I’m going to do some crafting, I close all of them, then open one, use it, close it, open another one, use it, close it, etc. Just sometimes I’m too lazy to close them all so I have to deal with it.

useful hint: the guy that sells gossamer thread is usually within talking distance of the area where the craft is. and you can walk around while keeping the craft window open! basically, just move the window to the edge of your screen, walk over to the guy, talk to him, buy the thread, and it’s possible to keep the craft window still open. However, you can not craft while walking around (if you’re refining a stack of mithril then start walking, it will cancel the refining)

I agree with Liet. move your mouse over your mini map and scroll up. this will zoom it in and give more resolution for it (as it zooms out it gets lower and lower resolution, partly for aesthetics, partly for computer performance)

best karma = underleveled fractals (your personal level of ~30, then do level 20. or 40 then 30. highest karma is 10 levels below your personal level, higher level fractals do give a bit more than lower levels)
not to mention you also get fractal relics, which can be converted directly into obsidian shards. you get about 8 obsidian shard’s worth of resources per run, which equates to16,800 karma, and that can take an hour.

EotM I believe is the next-best. I would estimate maybe 400 karma every 5 min = 4,800 karma per hour. But you also get champ bags (SP) and more loot and WXP than fractals (maybe 2x as much loot). I believe the champ bags have a high T6 mat drop rate, which would help your legendary progress.

If the stats of the transmuted item came from an item bought with karma or badges of honor, they are currently non-salvageable. there are countless other posts about how stupid this is, but no word from developers about changing it. (this has made several runes/sigils very expensive, because the only source of them was karma items, and now that you can’t transmute, it’s nearly impossible to get more – upgrade extractor being the only way)

I believe the superiors that can forged are used in gifts of legendaries
I can’t think of a single other recipe that calls for a superior sigil. you may of noticed there are no superior runes that can be forged.

I’ve heard stories of people in EU and transfer to a NA server, you get huge ping times (half second delays on everything)
Then again, I’ve also heard stories of people doing the same thing with no noticeable change.
So maybe it’d be inconsequential to change, maybe not. But it is possible.

the gold/SP and gold/karma is not bad. really, you’d have to cut both of those in half to get a better estimation. There are far better options, but they don’t consume nearly as much SP or karma as quickly.
But… the gift of exploration makes crafting legendaries not exactly a good gold/hour deal. However, if you happen to be someone who map completes every alt they have and is overflowing in SP and karma, then it’s the perfect thing to do!

It looks like no night/day cycle to it’s price, or even weekly. however, it’s buy price was at 500 about 9 hours ago. So, yes, I do think placing a buy order at 500g will get filled in the near future

then went up to 650g gradually until May
since May it’s dropped to about 550-600g
If I had to guess, I’d say it’ll go down some more over the next month (it looks like it peaked in may and is now dropping)

If the booster converting powder is any indication, the fee to convert a gift will be 90% of the gift-you-are-converting-to’s cost.

I assumed it was the ‘overflowing inventory’ – you can’t salvage something if you have no room for the salvaged materials in your inventory. However, it truly needs to be overflowing. Once your inventory is full, then the things you try to pick up go to an overflow. Once you have anything in that overflow, you can’t salvage anything else. Things in this overflow can be moved to your inventory, or even deposit collectibles. Picking up drops that are in overflow gets weird, and I don’t have as much experience with this.

get the infusion of the thing that you have the hardest time getting.
if you have 300% mf from essence of luck, then mf infusion won’t help a lot
if you have 10kg in the bank, then gold infusion won’t help a lot
if you have 9 million karma from days of old, then karma infusion won’t help a lot
also, get the infusion that would actually help how you like to play (don’t get gold or mf if you champ farm, for example)

gold and mf actually help more than you might think. have you ever looked at what you pick up from random mobs? sure, it’s mostly blue and green, but like half of the things I pick up is like 20-90 copper. so for every 10c junk or 70c blue item I pick up, I also got 60c that I barely noticed because it wasn’t sitting in my bag at the end of the hour. That adds up. an extra 20% would make a difference.

‘best’ is such a arbitrary word. could mean most gold per hour, most lazy, least work, fastest, least waiting, etc.

I’ll just assume you mean highest gold/hour of work, ignoring waiting. These are the top few that come to mind:
1) TP trading 1-1,000g/hr (hour(s) of work, day(s)/week(s) of waiting, months of experience knowing what to do)
2) weekly guild commendations – if your guild does missions quickly (sentinel insignia/inscription) ~10g/hr
3) daily dungeon runs – only the fastest paths ~5-10g/hr
4) world bosses – if you show up when final boss is mostly dead ~5g/hr
5) champ/eotm trains ~3-5g/hr

can’t believe no one mentioned this before:
1) buy a commander tag
2) gather a zerg
3) take those objectives by force
4) profit
another, less costly but less likely to happen way:
1) ask current commander if they could swing by those places
3) profit

I also hate when anything is not sellable. I’m just glad I don’t Gauntlet so I don’t have to have these sitting in my bank staring at me for some way to use them. Are they at least MF-able? That’s what I’d do with them, out of spite.

the obvious compromise would be letting us sell Vision Crystals and Lesser Vision Crystals.
basic ingots → mithrillium → deldrimor steel ingot (sellable)
ascended materials → ascended refined → vision crystal (could be sellable)
also, it uses SP and karma, so it isn’t a direct profit thing (people wouldn’t put gazzillions on the TP). furthermore, the price would be controlled because of this (people tend not to make SP items unless they can sell them for at least ~10s/SP, so that guarantees these would not go below 2g)

I bought 30,000 gems with 2,000 gold back in december. They limit you to 200 gold per transaction, so 10 transactions. I know it’s not the same, just saying it’s funny they limit buying gems with cc but not gold.

yeah, I know 0.5 second lag sucks, but at least in pve that shouldn’t be a problem, per say. pvp or wvw – yes, that would get you killed.

You don’t use the guild chat much, right? ;D

But the idea is quite good, have chat tags for the languages supported by GW2, just like we have for emote, map, guild and so on.

simple, just make it: /en, /ge, /fr, …

Ascended items can have 2 infusion slots:
Agony Infusion
Slot Infusion (Utility / Offense / Defense)

all ascended items have a slot infusion (or 2, for 2-handed weapons)
infused ascended items also have an agony infusion (only rings and back pieces)

A Offense infusion can only go into an offense slot
A Defense infusion can only go into a defense slot
A Utility infusion can only go into a utility slot
A Agony resist infusion can go into the Agony resist slot
A omni infusion can go into any slot

You want agony resist, and there are several choices (for ‘cheapest’, pick the one that’s easiest for you to get as they use different currencies):
- you can craft ones with +5 stat / +5 AR in the MF. they cost around 20-30g worth of T6 materials (http://dulfy.net/2012/11/17/gw2-ascended-gear-and-infusion-recipes/#2). these can only go in offense or defense slot (some are only offense, some are only defense, some are either).
- you can buy a +5 AR versatile simple infusion from the BUY-4373 in the fractals lobby for 75 fractal relics. I believe these can go in offense or defense or agony infusion slot
- you can buy a +5 AR infusion from the TP for 1.5g. these can only go in an agony infusion slot.

there are also infusions you can buy from laurel vendors that have +4 stat or +5 stat and damage to/from wvw guards. these can only go into offense or defense slots
then there are utility infusions, which can only go into utility slots

I, too, am curious how you buy that many.
also, sorry, but no way to return them. maybe save 1 in case you want a 2nd jeweler character?

nothing rng about it. even if you got a ticket scrap every other chest, it’s still cheaper to buy the weapons straight off the TP.
keys are like 10x as expensive as what they give. Which is a useful figure to know, because Lionguard Lyns was selling keys for 1/10 their normal cost about 1.5 years ago :P but she was doing too much business, so they closed her down abruptly.

if it was easy, everyone would do it. the items you see as nearly worthless to craft are the easy ones, and everyone does them.
bags have been negative profits since launch, nothing new there.
the more obscure you get in the items, the more profits there are. trust me, they’re there.

this scenario was why I liked having gold in the bank vs. on my characters.
turns out when you have access to all your gold, you tend to make this mistake less often.
