“The amount of karma granted from consumable karma items has been increased. Karma boosts no longer affect the amount of karma gained from consumable items.”
boosts. what about karmic infusion? I imagine not, even though it’s not exactly a boost. the 15% extra karma from guild could also be in this category, as it’s not one of the icons that appear next to your boons.
anyone tested this?
I’m just saying this only as pros and no cons, it’s a good idea. I doubt it’ll ever be completed, though. we’ve been asking for this for the last 10 months, and they haven’t made one TP change in all that time, much less one that is frequently asked for, so I have no faith this will ever be done.
whereas currently, the first Dawn you buy is for 500g and the 13th is 1111g
it’s only a matter of scale. why would you buy more than you can afford/use. increasing this limit wouldn’t force you to always use it, just as you’re not forced to shell out 7509g for 13 Dawns if you don’t have to gold or only need one.
What this feature would do is make it so I don’t have to:
click on quantity.
enter ‘250’.
tab 3 times.
enter ‘70’.
click ‘Place Order’ three times in quick succession to utilize the lag.
repeat 6 more times because I’m trying to buy 5,000 Elder Wood Logs to craft with.
repeat for cloth, ore, leather.
then comes the fine crafting materials.
If this update were implemented, there wouldn’t be people complaining they bought 2500 Piles of Dust by mistake, just as there aren’t people currently complaining of buying 10 Dawns. But it would decrease the time it takes me just to place buy orders from an hour to 10 minutes.
Just how much does everything cost?
I just confirmed activating each gambit consumes 1 entrance ticket
what other hidden fees are there? I just found myself wondering where my 30 tickets went after 6 fights.
guys, that is not what OP was talking about. He’s saying that this event does not favor toughness, not toughness in general. I kinda agree. timed fights = you need lots of damage. aoe barrage that hits for 6k/sec. sure, 3k armor helps there, but it really only extends your life from 3 to 5 seconds.
Personally, I keep running out of time in the gauntlets. that said, deadeye and his bombs are not 1-hit ko with high armor
where do quaggans fit in to all of this?
hehe, an animation would of made sales of this item tenfold what they are now. I can imagine it now: every time you salvage something with it, your character whips out a mini top-fed wood chipper, then drops little packages in it and bricks come out the bottom.
There would probably be a over-salvaging problem, where people buy all the whites, blues, greens, and salvageable scraps below 10s and salvage them on StoneMist wall above an enemy zerg.
I’d like to point out that keeping the merchant around is the right way to go about phasing out a currency. Lionguard Lynn was just one stupid mistake after another. To remind you and give you an idea how good you have it now:
while the recipe to get commendations was still functional, they disabled the vendor to redeem them without warning.
a month later, they open her back up, but missing the only item you would ever buy more than one of, giving everyone with mountains of commendations nothing to spend them on
a month later, they close the recipe and Lynn at the same time.
If you didn’t read the forums, you would of had no idea of any of this.
They drop much more often than rares. If they do take the place of a rare you would of otherwise got, the drop system would been seriously messed up.
I’m sure they take the place of something, though, meaning you get support ticket instead of any item you would of otherwise got. Sort of like: open a chest and get 4 random items, this was one of them (it could of taken the place of a green, or blue, or even junk or precursor).
I think I only get these support tickets from chests. like the chests after the boss in queen’s gauntlet or meta event.
for the first month or so of playing, I didn’t throw anything away. it took me a week just to sell junk to merchants. “is this an important mail that I’ll need to reference later?”. I can totally see how a new person would accumulate mail, yet now my mailbox is always empty.
yes, rings are way over priced from laurel vendor, but very cheap from fractals.
there are currently only ascended rings, amulets, accessories, back in the game.
‘spineguard’
‘brace’
‘back’
fiber splice
forest brace
arbor’s embrace
ocd and kittenless is a kind of sick
I didn’t even know they were MFable. 4 of them into the forge gives you a random one? is the average medallion price even high enough to make that worth it?
because of GW2, I increased the size of my mouse to about double what it was. it helped A LOT
I’m not sure if you mean physical size or just the cursor.. but since you brought up mice size I have to mention that upgrading to a g600 dramatically improved my gameplay, mostly due to how much more intuitive ground targeting felt when the same hand was activating and targeting.
Sorry – I meant cursor size on the screen. I was always losing it on the screen (hold down right-click to change directions during combat, then need to left-click to cast something, but have no idea where the cursor was)
because of GW2, I increased the size of my mouse to about double what it was. it helped A LOT
someone who predicts the price will go up. It can’t go down, so there is almost no risk.
I did the same to thick leather and silk about 2 weeks before the bazaar showed up. spent 8c each, sold for 15c each, 100,000 units = 47g profit after tax from 80g investment.
hmmm, very strange then. I do know only one can be made per day. I have no plans to make a celestial set, but I’m making these in case one day I want to, so I won’t then have to wait 2 months to get it.
I hadn’t logged on in 2 days before yesterday, so I find it hard to believe I had already made a crystal that day. Nevertheless, it seems others have more than 25, so there isn’t a cap. I’ll try again tonight.
So I log on today, go to make the charged quartz for the day, and the place of power doesn’t present me with the option. First thing I think of: did they take celestial recipes out?
I check my bank collections: 25 Charged Quartz Crystals.
That seems like an awfully round number to happen to have removed a feature on.
So now I’m thinking there is a cap on how many charged quartz crystals you can own? is this the case?
did they really impose every possible time-gating option at their disposal to make celestial items as non-used as possible?
or was it just coincidence I’m at 25, and they disabled the ability to upgrade these from the place of power in the Durmand Priory mountain?
reducing wp costs would not be a convenience item. you don’t need to bring teleport guns around with you to wp. they already are in the convenient form – unlimited and consume your gold, exactly like the unlimited salvage kit.
I could see mounts being added to the gem store. those at least have a convenience over the current system of running.
I’m not sure any of the normal kits are working as written.
As an example, Mystic is supposed to have a “25% chance of rarer materials”, yet I only notice about a 5% of ori when salvaging 68+ rares.
In berserker gear, it take monster 1-2 second to kill me.
In full toughness gear, it take monster 1.3-2.6 second to kill me.
In berserker gear, it takes me 1-2 seconds to kill monster.
In full toughness gear, it takes me 1.3-2.6 seconds to kill monster.
from the wiki: Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
moving things around: Damage done = (weapon damage) * (skill-specific coefficient) * Power / (target’s Armor)
So power and armor directly compete against each other.
if 2000 power attacks 2000 armor = 1. 3000 power attacks 3000 armor = 1. 2000 power attacks 1000 armor = 2. 3000 power attacks 2000 armor = 1.5.
So, when power>armor, adding 1000 power and 1000 armor results in less overall damage.
In this type of system, the most efficient build would be equal power and armor.
When I sell crafted things on the TP, I usually undercut. The only times I don’t are when I’m selling like 30 of them, and there’s only 2 listed at the current price. Generally, if there are 10% or less items at the current lowest sell value or the item I am selling, I’ll sell for the lowest, otherwise I’ll undercut. The reason is to save time. If I undercut, that’s like 3 extra seconds I could be spending listing 3 other things.
If I’m selling 20 of something, there’s no way I’m not going to undercut when the current lowest price has 247 of them listed. Sure, they’ll probably sell eventually, but I want gold within the next 24 hours, not 3 weeks from now.
my guild recently ran cof1… we had 1 mesmer, 2 guardian, 1 necro, 1 warrior. One of us likes to run cof all the time, he said it was one of the fastest runs he’s done. as some examples, the gate was down before the bar showing it’s progress came up, and the final boss was at half health 12 seconds after the fight started.

oh man, if he was offering lowering the TP tax instead of key price, things would of been so much different.
I hate dailies, but love monthlies. I really wish they would stop adding new types of daily achievements and add some variety to the monthly ones.
Things like kill variety. not 13 – are there more than 50 types of mobs?
and Ambient Killer. 1000
maybe gain 80 levels or SP?
Are. You. Kidding. Me.
Why does CoE give LESS than AC? and CoF3!?!?
that list… it’s just so obviously not thought out at all:
1.5 × 3 ….. 1 x 18 … 3, 3, 1.5, 3
the only “based on the path” was Arah3.
I think what this tells us the most is what dungeons the lead dungeon designer had trouble on than anything else.
Or maybe they based the rewards off of how hard the dungeon is for a party of brand new players at the ‘Explorable Level’ of that dungeon? If that were the case, I could totally see CoF path 1 taking as long as CoE path 3… both would take 4 hours with 20 wipes.
List of paths I think they accurately priced: CoF1&2, AC, most of Arah
Obvious changes: TA should be 1.5 each, CoF3 should be 3, SE should be 2 each, CoE should be 3 each
I thought they were trying to give rewards based on how hard/long the paths were so that no one dungeon would be preferred over others? While this is technically true, people now run the 6 select paths which give twice as much reward for the effort than all the others.
I know exactly what you are talking about.
type ‘vicious’, it suggest several items with ‘vicious’ in the name, you press enter, that list is still there, visibly blocking all the listings, until you click somewhere else.
just last night I bought a couple Mystic Binding Agents, some Heavy Crafting Bags, and Chauncey von Snuffles III.
Mystic Binding Agent = best gold : laurel value, though not directly convertible to gold.
Heavy Crafting Bags = I only find so many cores, so it would take a long time to use MBA’s, during which time I’ll get more laurels to replace the ones I just bought.
Chauncey = I’m not exactly poor, so I should get at least one thing that can’t be got anywhere else in the game.
I got full infused ascended trinkets and back for all 3 of my characters months ago. ascended weapons/armor? probably not going to be obtainable from laurels IMO. If guild commendations had better return and no hero banners, I would of offloaded all of those as well.
shhh. if anyone undercuts you, they are rude and inconsiderate!
oh, I agree: it costs wayyyyyy too much to be of any conceivable use. around 20s/use or less would be useful. as is, it’s just something to complain about. I was just giving examples of what to use mesmer portal for.
kiting away from places of power: run up to the place, drop portal enter, get aggro from everything, run away, drop portal exit, go through portal, commune, go through portal, run away. not always needed, but it’s handy to have several options available to you.
thought of more: wvw surprise group attacks, wvw golem movement, wvw recapturing a tower, wvw/pvp safety (drop a portal, run a short ways to an enemy, fight them, if the battle isn’t going so well, portal out of there – similar to how thieves just disappear)
fun fact: no such thing as “red/green colorblind”. some form of red colorblind and green colorblind are simply together the most common, making up about 99% of all colorblindness (about 8% of males and 0.5% of females have some form of colorblindness). http://colorvisiontesting.com/color2.htm
Anyways, I’m red-deficient colorblind (“Protanomaly”). All it means is red is less prominent for me. some purples look blue. some orange looks yellow. some browns and greens look the same. red is just less THERE. light/pale colors are even tougher, as there isn’t much color to begin with.
I used to have huge problems with aoe skills. I’d just dodge them all. If I analyzed the field long enough I could decide it was red or green, but at fast decision making if I should go in or not, there was no way to tell the difference. Think of it as being presented with just a O or 0 and having to tell if it’s a letter or number asap. Sure, you can sometimes eventually figure it out depending on font type and size, but in fast-paced games you don’t have time. making it larger, as they did by raising the aoe’s off the ground helped but did not solve it.
Personally, I’m ok with red being there. There’s far less red terrain to confuse it with than green. I would prefer friendly aoe fields to be blue instead of pale green. able to individually set which color each is would be perfect, of course.
Let me bring some tin foil hats
It’s been brought to my attention in the recent past that the vast majority of aluminum foil available to the public is not thick enough to prevent electromagnet radiation from controlling you (provided mind-control via EM radiation exists, of course). What it comes down to is power vs. thickness. a given thickness of foil will block a certain percentage of EM radiation at a particular frequency. It’s fairly easy for the government to generate high-powered EM radiation, and foil just isn’t thick enough to block a significant amount.
The co-worker I discussed this with and I did some math and found that at low frequencies (which are said to be the mind-control area of the spectrum), extra-heavy-duty Reynolds wrap only blocks something like 20% of the EM radiation.
I use portal in pve all the time. things like map completion. drop a portal, run to an out-of-the-way poi, portal back. only saves like 30 seconds of running, but if you do that 120 times, that’s an hour shorter. Also to help other people get to hard-to-reach places, or kiting mobs away from a place of power, or having fun with other players (I like to drop a portal to the LA bank’s roof every now and then, or the thaumanova reactor’s roof)
it’s because you haven’t used it that you don’t know what it can be used for.
you should find that merchant, buy 10,000 of them for 80c, then sell them on the TP for 1s8c for a 11g80s profit.
Mesmer here, I agree it’s too expensive. 50s or less and it would actually be used. charged core instead? or have it have 5 or 10 charges instead of 2.
my reason is that a lot of classes have faily unique skills that are bypassed by utility items:
some classes have leap skills, there’s teleport gun to replace that (32c)
stealth? spy kit (28 karma for 10s stationary or 16c for 3s of able to move)
pets? many, ogre pet whistle for one (1s4c for 5 min of pet)
and now portal? watchwork portal (1.5g!!!)
the only way they could justify 1.5g was if it did something the mesmer portal doesn’t, such as last for 60 seconds once connected or unlimited range (within the same area).
yes. not worth as much (as you got some value from it in the form of a vote), but letting unredeemed tokens be worth something while voting wasn’t was not a smart move.
and bauble bubbles
It is only more profitable to use black lion kits if the item you are salvaging is socketed with something worth about 1.3g or more. or you get them for free. but even the free ones I save until I need to salvage an exotic with divinity rune.
I agree 100% with OP, he has stated the problem precisely IMO, I’ve just given up caring to argue the point. I’m part of the it-feels-like-a-job crowd, and I’ve retired from that job.
temporary content (living story) is almost as bad as dailies for the same reasons.
the spot where it tells you what items you just picked up is directly over the spot where ‘leave instance’ is. So you have to wait for any items you picked up to go away, which takes about 5 seconds per item. Especially in candidate trials, where those bags can sometimes give you 6 or so items each, if you pick up 3 bags at the end you’re looking at a minute and a half of waiting before you can leave the instance. If there is a ‘leave instance’ button there, the items could just not cover it!
side-by-side screen shots (with ‘leave instance’ and with it covered) attached
also, I noticed that at most 10 things will queue up there. any additional won’t take extra time. so if you open the bags quickly, you’ll only have to wait only 50 seconds. enough time to write a bug about it, but far too long for the average player that wants to enjoy other parts of the world.
I put scholar runes on my ranger. she tends to stay out of trouble, so full health most of the time.
Daily and temporary everything is my only complaint about gw2
open inventory, put any item 1 spot past the amount of stacks you need to buy, talk to crafting vendor, click ‘Lump of Coal’, hover mouse over ‘buy’, hold mouse still with left hand, woodpecker the mouse button with right hand! I can get up to like 5 clicks per second.
if not a ‘amount to buy’ field, at least have larger stack sizes available, like 10-at-a-time and 250-at-a-time. it’s so counter-intuitive to make master maintenance potions and need to buy 2 waters for every potion you want to make. …the voting vouchers had different stack sizes
wp cost is annoying sometimes, but I gotta say: if wping were free, I would never run anywhere. I would be mid-event and wp to the next spot where you’re defending this guy. probably wouldn’t get out of the city any more, just change how I got places.
I doubt 3s actually prevents people from joining killing jormag’s claw.
Farm keys via the lvl 10 quest if you really want/need them. 1 run can take 30-40 mins solo and a lot quicker if doing with friends. Find a guide or look on youtube they are out there.
what quest?
I don’t mind farming for the keys.
the personal story, level 10 chapter gives you a guaranteed key. People farm this. create new character, do story, level, do more story, level, do level 10 story, get key, deposit, delete character, start over. I hear one of the human story lines is the quickest/easiest. takes about 20-40 minutes depending on how many people are helping you.
It’s not that thieves or stealth is op. it’s that it’s annoying. annoying things should NOT be in the game. My typical encounter with a perma-stealth thief:
running from point A to point B
get hit for half my life by a thief that wasn’t there a second ago.
turn around, unload shatters get them down to 20% life, they stealth.
$&#@! %æ#$?, continue running
20 seconds later, get hit from out of nowhere by the same thief
slap them silly again, they stealth.
gerrrrrrr, continue running
over the next hill, get hit by the same fricken thief
knock them unconscious, bleeding out of every orifice, confused about who they are, stealth.
They are the buzzing fly of the gw2 world. The dripping faucet. The creak in the floor. The pinpoint of light on your computer when you are trying to go to sleep.
Don’t nerf stealth to balance the classes. nerf stealth so they stop utilizing it as a way to kitten with people. There are filters that prevent compulsive chatters. You can mute people with horns. Rude and abusive people can be kicked from parties. Why do they allow ghosts to be following you around, buzzing in your ear?
Southsun survival at least has a limited amount of buzzing they can do.
Stealth should still be present, just nerfed. maybe one of these: visible distortion tells you approximately where they are if you are looking for them so you can aoe. highly vulnerable while in stealth. 2 second casting time to go into stealth.
lol! $50 per skin was too cheap for them. if they keep this up enough, then hopefully people will catch on how bad the return is and stop buying keys so they bring back fair prices.
individual characters can ‘represent’ or ‘stand down’ from a guild. this is which guild that character is representing
your account can ‘leave guild’, and once left, you’d have to be invited back in. if no one is left in the guild, I assume it’s gone forever.
there is no special confirmation message if you are the guild owner and you ‘leave guild’
