I still have never been defeated in a 1v1 by an Axe warrior. Maybe one day I will get hit by the OP eviscerate.
Any thief in here who is crying about eviscerate needs to reroll to another class you have absolutely no clue how to play this game.
How to counter warrior with one button – BLACK POWDER! = Pistol #5
Rejuvenation. It is not even close as far as sustain and healing per second. Assassin’s Reward needs a rework or a buff. It is not strong enough. Best way to see this is to test them out yourself!
Yea…I solo roamed for a while…
then I realized that if I wanted a good fight that wasn’t against a zerg I could either run around for hours in WvW or just queue for sPvP.
Ultimately, sPvP > WvW unless you just really love blob on blob action.
Gotta agree with this guy although I still solo roam from time to time. If you want nice small scale fights without running from zergs all the time an arena match should do it. Plus the lag has simply gotten ridiculous for me lately on the BLs. I have not seen EBG in a long time because of this.
Not every toon can do it. I’ve never been able to do it. Although I might be able to if I used a specific build I can’t be bothered.
I am sorry but.. what a sad comment.
I can solo a camp with a zergling player manning a ballista at the same time.
I hope you are new the game OP.
The solution: Grab a GS and equip zerker stance and balanced stance. Aggro everyone and take them around the corner behind a house/shed depending on the camp. Pop zerker stance to ignore the blinds then Hundred blades and Whirlwind em all down! If you get stunned use balanced stance for stability.
Nope not new, been playing since beta, don’t have a warrior though. Guess I’m just not pro leet like you.
The point of my comment was not to show you that I am pro.
The point is you have to be new to say that not all toons can solo a camp. ALL CLASSES can solo a camp with ease actually.
If you play WvWvW on a regular basis saying that you should never be bothered to solo a camp makes no sense. Of course you could be the type of player who simply logs off goes to another borderland unless they see a commander tag.
Soloing camps is highly EFFICIENT given that one person can do it and it does help your server especially when you are outmanned like the original post highlighted.

Few things, but beforehand I would like to state I never felt Warrior was OP. But I mainly play Necro/Thief – Whom many claim to be OP
First. You’re a good player. Most of the QQers are not. That’s actually a BIG deal. I watched a lot of your Warrior vids so I know this. You would probably be better than most on any proffession. Building on this fact – I believe most players lack the reaction time to beat a warrior. Which is all you need – active dodging and mitigation.
Secondly. What world are you on? I wanna duel your warrior with my condi necro should be fun! But your little short story clearly shows how most people play this game. SoS when warrior has Zerker stance is a classic noob move.
Thirdly. No one will respond to this thread and actually say “After watching your video you are right warriors are not OP I simply need more practice and need to L2P” Even though that is the what is really going on here.
Nice video!
As a corrupto-mancer main for a long time most of this is actually true.. warriors are still weak to conditions.
It is just not as easy as before. You tank until zerk stance runs out then fear chain them corrupt the stability and its over pretty soon.
Warr v Necro is one of the best matchups IMO. A true skill matchup. Can the necro survive 15+ sec for zerk stance and initial stuns to end. Can the warr take advantage of this time to destroy the necro? Bad necro does not dodge earth shaker gets stunned for 10 sec then gets zerk stance rekt and its GG. Good necro dodges earthshaker tanks in DS while getting hit during zerk stance. Transfers when hit with pin down or fire field. Brings corrupt boon for stability and starts the chain of fear to death.
In the end though noob warr > noob XXX
That is why most people cry
The wiki is NOT wrong..
Lifeblast is calculated based on weapon damage. Which is why the STAFF has the highest lifeblast damage.
Axe + Axe Training is essentially equal to Staff for Lifeblast damage.
Staff has a smaller range of damage thus will be more consistent. Axe damage range is larger.
6/2/0/0/6 with zerker gear is what you want for a lifeblast necro build
Have fun!
D/D Ele is a tough matchup but a good boon corruption with Path of Corruption and Corrupt Boon followed by a fear chain gets the job done. If they use Armor of Earth wait for the stability Corrupt it then DS #3 followed by Staff #5 then unload everything you got. Should put them down. They key is patience hold on to your fears for the right moment then unleash them all once they have no defenses left.
Turret Engi is a BS build. The only way I can take one down is to LoS and abuse the AoE. If you HAVE to fight them on point then unload DS 4/5 then go into plague and just try to get rid of the turrets. Also Dagger #4 and Staff #4 to transfer back the immobilize and burning. This matchup is tough for everyone right now.
PU Mesmer is dependant on boons. PoC and Corrupt Boon followed by a fear chain. Similar to Ele except you should not be as patient. Once they have 2/3 Phantasms going you are pretty much doomed. Gotta burst them quickly early in the fight. If you let the Mesmer free cast with no pressure hiding behind clones/phantasms you WILL die. The key is to be very aggressive and make them waste all of their stealth utilities early then they are done.
As always the #1 factor to beating anything in this game is practice.
The reason full condi is better is because of Aegis/Protection/Regen which they gain each time they stealth. Aegis/Protection absolutely destroy LifeBlasts as well as body blocking with clones. Which is where most of the dmg comes from on power spec. Scepter and Staff bypass the stupid clones body blocking.
DS 4/5 is for getting rid of clones.
The key to beating them is to burst them down with a fear-chain after they have used blink/decoy. They usually carry the stealth wall as the third utility.
I also think plague signet/well of power is very useful against the condition heavy ones.
Finally Path of Corruption does wonders against the boons they get in stealth.
It just takes a lot of practice honestly.. you can not waste time finding the real mesmer so you need experience.
I do not understand when you say full condi is useless against ELE. If they are using diamond skin then yes you have a point. But no class can cleanse the amount of condis we can output if you are doing it right.
Corrupt Boon and Path of Corruption are so essential in this boon-heavy meta. I always run them nowadays.
Agreed with most of what you said.
Truth is to fight 1vX you will need 30 in SA. Whether you play D/P D/D or P/D. It greatly improves your sustain and keeps you alive against heavy condi classes.
But, there is also no denying that it is “cheese” whatever that means..
I do not have to die to anyone running 30 SA and D/P. I can escape literally any situation. But I can do the same thing with my GS warrior. The question is does that make it OP/“cheese” since it is impossible to counter or is that simply how the game/class is supposed to be.
Either way I will run my 30 SA build with D/P.. to make myself less “cheese” I do not run Shadow Refuge.. don’t really need it TBH anyway.
As far as the PvP vs WvW roaming I have done both extensively since launch. D/D or D/P with 30 in SA to me is equivalent in cheese to the 2/0/0/6/6 S/D builds. Both can disengage whenever they want. High sustain and Good damage. Stealth builds are better in WvW because we do not need to really contest points while roaming and with the vast amount of space 5-10 sec of stealth is enough to disengage anything. Evading 7 times in a row on a point is more useful in PvP but both builds allow for low risk and high reward.
In the end if you played this game long enough you can not say anyone running SA is a noob or cheese. That is something only new players say.
I like OPs idea – problem is there will alway be more noobs who want to bandwagon and farm (aka zerg) then ppl who wants to actually compete …. and because ANet listen only to majority no matter how bad it is for the game this idea will never get through
WE HAVE A WINNER!
Why compete when I can karma train…? Why is EoTM always full of people while the BL in lower tiers (I am on CD) Mostly empty outside of Primetime.
I have been in favor of a server-less/population balanced or capped new format for a long time. But when I go roaming the zerglings continuously remind me this is a casual MMO not a sport like someone above me said.
But if that is the case, how come everything is power-driven right now? And was before the strength runes, too?
I mean yes, on paper, isolated, a single condition seems good compared to a single power attack, except ofc the usual downsides like cleansability and needing 5-10 seconds to actually deal the damage.
But in actual play, this doesn’t pan out, partially because few cleanses trade 1-for-1. They’re group cleanses or all-cleanses, or transmute to boons or give damage or other buffs in return.
But also because conditions just have a high opportunity cost. They take time both to apply and to deal damage, power attacks do it in the same moment. So not only do you open up the enemy to remove them, you give them time they’re still alive in which they can a) kill you, b) retreat and heal up or c) cycle their CDs to do (a) or (b).On top of that, conditions lack scalability. Point-for-point, power attacks outscale conditions, who also have the problem that a condition-applying attack partially scales off direct damage stats. So to maximize damage, a condition-user would actually need Power, Precision, Ferocity and Malice. So you can’t even go full-condition-glass if you wanted to, too few item slots.
So again, why are conditions seen so overpowered by the vocal community (the gamer community at large seems to not care any less, look at WvW for example, or PvE. If you were to grab 100 players evenly spread, I doubt you’d have a significant number tell you that conditions need anything but a buff, especially the Guardians :P )?
Well…
- For one, like I said, everything which kills you is power damage. People <3 power damage. It looks awesome, huge numbers, fast numbers, bam, bam, bam, enemy dead in 4 seconds flat. As a result of this hype for direct damage (and it’s raw potential, it’s the primary way to kill people in tPvP, WvW and PvE), Toughness is a very mandatory stat. You don’t want to go out in PvP without Toughness, unless you are certain you can out-glass the glasscannons. And if you got one defensive stat, adding another is tricky. Soldiers works, but people prefer Knight for higher toughness + crit procs. As a result, very few people run anything closely resembling condition-durable.
- Very few conditions are based on melee combat. OTOH, the average MMORPG players <3s melee combat. Melee-range warriors, thieves, melee guardians, these are in high player demand, they “feel good”. Not isolated in GW2 either, these archetypes are always played the most in any MMO. But, much direct damage is melee based and AE based. What do players want to play? 1v1, which capitalizes on a) outranging the enemy to deny them attacks, b) AEs being meh because there’s only one target and c) being a stupid game mode in the first place. Result: Frustration.
- Conditions have a very significant psychological aspect which is too commonly ignored. If you have 20k HP and I hit you for 5k, you get an adrenaline surge. You just lost 25% of your HP, you are in danger, react fast, dodge, block, hit me in turn, distance, CC, panic. That is how your brain reacts to these spikes in your input. Conditions “gently” easy in the damage. You get hit by 4 attacks over 3 seconds, each chipping 200 HP off. So what. Oh, now you’re burning for a lot of damage and bleeding on top of that. You try to dodge, it’s not working. You block, it doesn’t work! panic! Adrenaline! It’s… too late. And that’s the thing. With conditions, the dangerous attack is the one before your adrenaline alerts you to you being in danger. That’s when you need to block/dodge. Because really, that condition-applying autoattack isn’t some magical thing. It’s the same autoattack which a power user uses, only it applies a condition and virtually no direct damage now. And yet somehow, half the playerbase deems the condition-application not dodge-worthy, but the 3k critting power AA is.
Why do you bother?
Tomorrow there will be a thread on nerfing conditions.
The experienced players who play both condi and power know the truth.
Thanks for the effort though, nice post
Obvious troll thread would read again
Still baits out the conditions are OP players
10/10
It’s not really a hybrid since you have no POWER. I suggest CARRION or RAMPAGERS over dire. You need some power IMO. Having the rifle is worthless without some power. You would be better off with LB. Your traits are probably not optimized either. I would put some in the STRENGTH line for distracting strikes as you have a few interrupts like the above poster mentioned Rune of Perp. would be an upgrade over sunless. The 100% fury uptime doesn’t do much for you without POWER.
The build is fine should work. I think you could swap the valkyrie pieces for CARRION and only lose out on some prec/ferocity which isn’t THAT useful for P/D since you will not be critting that hard but you gain some ConditionDmg to make those bleeds hurt a bit more. Then again you use D/P on your second set. Just some food for thought but should work otherwise
The build in the video is 2/0/6/0/6
D/P x/30/30/x/x counters P/D dire condition builds. Just jump through that black powder 3 times and you heal/remove all condis. Blinds hurt P/D and as long as you deny the CnD which is very easy with P#5 its GG. It simply takes a while but I do not lose to P/D condition thieves.
Someone answer the following question: Why should WvW roaming be balanced?
The thing is folks. It shouldn’t and will never be. How are conditions OP when they are not dominating any other part of the game. WvW Roaming is not a supported game format. Join the zergs or L2P.
I used to think condition builds were OP. Then I realized so are Shadow Arts power thieves. So are nike warriors resetting at will. So are Power PU mesmers. etc etc etc
If you want fair small scale fights you know where to go – PVP
If you want “fair” small scale fights with your OP build because PVP customization sucks. You deal with WvW roaming which is not a real game mode and you deal with the BS builds.
Why is this more important than fixing WvW PPt, defense, or coverage. IT’S NOT!
Carpboy pretty much nailed it.
Ambush + Krait or SoH + Perplexity
It is really that simple. If you choose ambush I also tend to go away from Mug as the difference in steal cool downs is 27 vs 20. One of the most underlooked things with Sleight of Hand is the steal CD reduction and its synergy with Mug. Not to mention the Cooldown of Steal comes close to Perplexity’s 6th Rune bonus. I personally used Perplexity and SoH for a long time. When the new trait came out I quickly switched to Krait Runes and Bewildering. Both builds are extremely strong. Perplexity will give you more confusion but less bleeds – Not much difference TBH. I am back to signet burst with strength runes. More fun IMO
In sPvP I am assuming you are using power of inertia and strength runes. Not sure why you are not getting more might. Signets of power? Thrill of the crime? Larcenous Strike on other might users may augment your numbers.
WvW can still be played with S/D. Basic difference is you want 6 points in shadow arts for survivability. Embrace and Rejuvanation are staples against the condi classes that roam often. D/D with Scholar Runes is actually pretty good in WvW but you probably have to slot Signet of Shadows for speed. #1 runes are going to be Runes of Strength but cheap options are Speed/Pack/Hoelbrak/Lyssa/Ogre. I prefer D/P roaming solo it has much more utility and the blind field helps keep you alive.
People continously speak on balance issues in terms of 1v1 and roaming in WvW. Neither can EVER be balanced. Yes we know PU and Shadow Arts are strong in those situations. But that is literally all those traits are really good for.
EDIT – In the OP you said you had 1500-1900 toughness. You run with even LESS than that. LOL
Remember: Toughness =/= Armor. Celestial amulet necro has 2238 armor before traits or runes.
Still not very high, but nowhere near as low as you seem to be thinking it is.
@bigmonto: I’d love to see the Necro build that between regular health and death shroud can hit 50k health. 40k requires full Ascended Sentinels armor and weapons, Soldier’s amulet, back, rings, and trinkets, Vitality infusions in every single slot, and 6 points in Blood Magic and Soul Reaping. Very much impossible for PvP.
Which is why I said TOUGHNESS. I am well aware of the difference between armor and toughness. In fact, the OP said toughness in the first post as well. He is running 1350 toughness. As a necro you need to actually be a good player to run with that amount of toughness. If he can not avoid a Killshot we know what kind of player he is.
Sexy video. Use less gloomy music is my advice. Build yo!?
Try 0/4/6/4/0
You get enfeeble and terror for good ole condi dmg
All the minion traits including death nova for some more condi
Then the siphoning traits for sustain
I have used that trait set up with rabid amulet and sc/d + staff successfully in sPvP
I think the power version is slightly better due to the CC you get from mainhand dagger and offhand warhorn.
Either build is not really a very high dps build anyway
Just use shadow arts until you get better. No need to change your gear. Just use the traits above and you should be much better off. Shadows Rejuvenation lets you heal up and recover from mistakes in stealth while you wait for your next opportunity to backstab.
Did you guys miss the update? Dhuumfire only procs from Lifeblast. Therefore the necro must be in deathshroud, which is a huge tell you know. Not to mention lifeblast is a slow projectile that can easily be avoided.
Compare that to equipping a sigil. Which can not be seen by your opponent. No icon. No buff. Nothing.
Dhuumfire also does not do 5k+ damage instantly. It’s a DOT which rarely exceeds 3k dmg as only a fool would not cleanse burning.
But please continue the condition spamming qq
“My build might not be the best build ingame, but I like it, don’t comment that. I’d really enjoy any kind of constructive comment on how I could improve my skills, I already know I miss some Cloak and Dagger and that’s a waste of initiative.”
I was expecting a nice creative build but… you run the same thing everyone else does. Except you do less damage because you’re using crappy runes. Pack/Strength would increase your backstabs by at least 1-2k. Meh. 5/10
Strength runes are so much better than every other rune right now especially on thief. All you really need is Hidden Assasin/Signets of Power. I believe 2 points in acro is enough for movement especially with all the blinks we have. Swiftness when dodging coupled with Fleet Shadow is enough for me. Simply go into stealth to run around faster and dodge in between stealths. Very easy with D/P.
S/D acro thief lacks condition removal especially after lyssa nerf. Condi-bunker builds can give it a tough time. It is a very balanced build however without a hard counter. I would say conditions in general give it a hard time but with Pain Response, Shadowstep, and Sword #2, you do have options against condis.
Use Sword/Pistol then use the 5th ability “Black Powder” it mitigates a ton of damage with AoE blind. Then press 3rd ability “Pistol Whip”. Things will die. Invest in power. Work on your dodges. Then slowly start using Dagger/Dagger weaponset its much less forgiving than sword/pistol
Youtube search this guy “Taquito Bandito: Stealthless Gunslinger Thief”
Besides a very select few it is a difficult weapon-set to make work. P/P has no evades or stealth. All you have is blind from black powder and an interrupt making it one of the more “defenseless” weapon sets.
Goodluck!
You are not maximizing the fact you are all power with those weapons. S/S + LB is best used in a hybrid or pure condition build. You only have 250 Condition damage. You should use a GS and forceful GS trait especially since you’re using Strength runes. You should probably be using axe in your build ironically.
Countless hours. Two Legendaries. WvW Commander. Yet… still clicking skills. Sigh.
Duuuuude no comments yet!? Very well played! Opening chase was awesome you are pro with dark path.
Perplexity Runes. 2 in Spite at least with Reapers Might (He gets might from lifeblast) Most likely 4 in Spite with Chill of Death but NOT 6 with Dhuumfire. 6 In Curses with Path of Corruption/Terror/Weakening Shroud. The rest is probably easily interchangable. Soul Reaping traits is my guess did not notice anything else from first few seconds of video. Obviously the gear is gonna be rabid/dire.
NO POINT TO THIS THREAD
Sadly people will flame you. No chance you get the credit you think you deserve. Why did you make this? Unless you were the first person to click on traits I am 100% sure someone clicked 10/0/0/30/30 before you did and did not make a guide or post it on the forums. Flame war in 3…2…1
EDIT – “It might not be serious to you people, but this build is my intellectual property. I created it, and to say that Sizer owns it is not only wrong but extremely offensive.”
Seriously. I laughed out loud. Intellectual Property?! Anet owns the game and all builds made in-game, not you. Please sue sizer
(edited by Narkodx.1472)
This should not be labelled PvX.
Too much healing in PvE? Funny
Shadow Arts in PvP? Funny
OP for small scale WvW roaming or 1v1? Maybe. But that is not a game mode. Like many have stated already. Thief can not attack or leave stealth to gain all that health back. While he is regening what are you doing? That should be the reason you keep dying to thieves
Are skins and looking unique important in a PvP match? Not a game format that strives to be a competitive one. Nothing happens to them. They just do not work in a PvP match. The special snowflakes can be unique everywhere else in the game?
Honestly. I want a better screen shot to see all the clutter. Next time do it without the PvP score window. NEW (AI) META + Lich 1 SPAM!
LOL 1200+ games with a 60+% win percentage is luck. Are you out of your mind!? The guy who is 10-3 most definitely is lucky.
After 13 games NO ONE should be first in the leaderboards. Makes no sense.
People are so quick to hate. The fact you didn’t have an aneurysm after that many solo q games and 4v5’s and skyhammer and PvE scrubs is a miracle in itself. Mad skillz mad propz no hatin’
PPT!? What is this!? I play most classes so my humble un-biased opinion on roaming the only thing I have enjoyed from day 1 of GW2.
1-Shadow Arts Thief – Either condition or power with D/p or P/d – Unlimited disengage potential and IMO the most fun/annoying build. Depends which side of the coin you’re on.
2- GS Warrior – Unlimited disengage potential with Sw/Wh but you wont do any real damage. Better of taking Axe/Sh or M/Sh skullcracker or Hammer or Longbow as the other set. My favorite aspect of War is the build diversity. You put 30 in Defense get some Cleansing Ire and you’re good to go. Put the rest where you like. 3k Armor and 2+k power/condition damage is an absolute force with all the passive sustain.
3- PU Mesmer – The only reason it is not higher is because even a Necro can run away from you. …Maybe not but the damage of the pure condition ones is laughable. I jump around on my warr when facing them then proceed to fly away on my GS and dance. The hydbrid ones are really fun to fight but not difficult to disengage from as well. These mesmers have high stealth uptime with a torch and the right utilities so using some terrain makes great escapes easy.
4- Condi/Tank Rangers – Sorry all berserker bearbow rangers you did not make the list. But these BM variants double melee are mobile and fun to fight/play. Sword gives some decent escapability plus the massive tankiness perma regen will allow you to create some breathing room and distance if things get ugly.
5- Engineer – Probably tied with rangers as far as mobility goes and can easily be interchangable as far as rankings go. I guess I simply like ranger more. Very strong condition skills AOE supply crate creating area denial and some decent mobility with perma swift and rocketboots.
6- Ele – Can easily be 3/4/5th in ranking if not for the fact that I completely suck with them. I have dueled and fought roaming many great eles. The mobility has not been the same since the old days of RtL when I played ELE. But the sustain and damage is very respectable. I think ELE and ENGI roaming capabilities come down to skill most of the time.
Guard/Necro – Too slow
I love both classes to zerg/command. I can destroy 99% of players on my necro given they do not disengage. Which won’t ever happen unless its a planned duel. If you roam with guard/necro I respect you but it must be quite annoying to see every class run from you when you manage to almost kill them.
Thank you all for the comments.
@ConRae: Thank you, but there is no need to defend me. I think I know who daltondeguzman.9182 is, and if so, he has certainly earned the right to talk here. Regardless, people are entitled to their opinions, and there is certainly some truth to what he says.
On topic: I tend to play staff elementalist, usually with hybrid/support builds in a 0/0/2/6/6 trait setup (pre-April 15th patch, I mostly used 0/0/4/4/6 with rock solid for stability support, but now the cleansing of 6 water is quite useful). I often change my gear/amulet/utilities and traits (mostly within 00266) to mix it up.
I have been fortunate to have a good amount of success in SoloQ (having been top25 for the better part of 2+ months now and played some 200-300 matches within that time). But I am certainly not one of the best pvpers in the tournament scene (especially while I almost exclusively play staff ele!). Furthermore, to the OP, I think any profession has at least a couple builds each that are capable of reaching the highest ‘levels’ of SoloQ success.
I would like to offer a few general SoloQ tips though:
+Have a decent build and know its strengths and weaknesses.
+Know the maps. (Objectives and terrain advantages)
+Learn to watch your minimap during the match and make informed decisions based on that information (also pay attention to your allies healthbars).
+Know how to play a couple different professions so that you can swap characters accordingly (I hardly ever do this, but it is helpful for those who do).
+Do not give up. Even though the match may seem unwinnable—remember: the opposing team is just as disorganized as yours! Impossible plays in SoloQ happen all the time.
+Do not rage at your fellow SoloQ players. You will probably be playing with/against them again. And raging at your group during the match tends not to motivate them to play better. (I am guilty of plenty of ragefits, I apologize for and regret all of them).Sorry for typing so much, I hope this information may help someone!
Excellent advice. I think the key point here is looking at your mini-map and teammaters health bars. It ensures proper rotations and support. Rarely is it done.
The reason I avoid EOTM like the plaque is because you are not fighting FOR anything but yourself.
There absolutely no server loyalty.
Some dismiss such a notion as being unimportant but they are wrong. It only unimportant to themselves.
I have never transferred servers. There a whole pile of people I know in WvW who have been on my server from the start and would never transfer servers. To suggest everyone the same and just jumps server to server to find which one will win is simply nonsense.
EOTM is nothing but a Karma train. It has become that because the only reason to play it is to get STUFF. The difference between playing for a server and playing for ones self may not appeal to you but it appeals to a wide swathe of the player base. Contrary to what some suggest I do find satisfaction in helping other members of my TEAM to win and contributing in that regard.
If you ask any athelete that was involved in professional sports what they missed most about their careers it was not getting the goals or scoring touchdowns or being cheered, it was the sense they were a part of a team and helping one another to victory.
Your suggestion is akin to having a hockey game where if one team was ahead 4 to nothing after the first period 6 of its best players would be moved to the other team after the first period in return for 6 of the poorer players so as to “make the game fair”.
Are there issues with WvW? Of course there are but randomizing which team one is on is not a solution and is a worse cure then the problem.
I do not want to be assigned to a random team week to week. There would simply be no reason to play WvW over Pve if I was. While there are those who would not be bothered by this at all and that is THEIR prerogative, there are many I am sure, who would agree with me.
You have what you ask for in EOTM. The group that does not care about server loyalty can go play there.
The comparisons to professional sports are simply far fetched. Team bonding and comradery etc is all nice and fun but the reason we play sports is for COMPETITION. That word needs to be bigger than I can make it here. COMPETITION only exists when both sides are even. Comradery and team work brotherhood all come as a side bonus to the overall theme of EQUAL COMPETITION. So yea, you and many people like stacking servers and being with your PvE buddies in zergs trampling over the opposition.
No reason to WvW because you can not be with your friends? WvW in its purest form is about competition. This is a PvP zone not a stack in a corner and 1 spam NPC to death and collect loot zone.
I would absolutely love your idea OP. As much as I like my “friends” and my guild and my server. My priority is a balanced competitive game mode REGARDLESS of anything else. How that method is achieved is of little concern to me. Professional sports players do not care how many teams are in the league or size of rosters or rule changes etc. They care about balanced competition. They care that the game is 5v5 or 11v11 etc.
Bottom Line? Game is too casual. Why should Anet force any balanced populations or servers when most of these players like to stack and farm the opposition 30 v 5. Why would Anet take away the biggest cash cow they probably have in gem sales for transfers. Game Over.
Every class deals with this. I find low-level players speaking about balance even more annoying. “Conditions are OP” – Blanket statements like these run rampant
Necromancer has similar problems. Low level hot join or solo q? OP and very effective using MULTIPLE builds. Put them in a high level tPvP game and most people start to see the problems. Thing is most players base all of their knowledge on Solo q and WvW roaming. Most people in this game are keyboard turners and skill clickers. FACT
There is no resason it should not be in-game. Anet probably argues that we have custom arenas to do that. Besides the fact it would not be very balanced, there is no denial it would be extremely fun and probably topple conquest in a few weeks as far as popularity.
Thought I’d post what my build does and how it works in tpvp. Its just a simple tpvp match with guildies.
don’t see how thats relevant, you played against bad players and didnt get focused even once and it’s already established that necro does well in that situations.
also pls stop walking backwards all the time and clicking skillsI win 90% of my games with this necromancer build. Either the matching system doesn’t work or the build does.
But thanks for the input.
I have said it before and I will say it again. THIS is why we will never be buffed again. Low level players continue to dominate clicking skills with necromancers. But he wins 90% of his games so why are we QQing.
Power necro solo roaming runs into cheese and wants it nerfed. Sorry buddy. Not happening. It is WvW roaming. Game mode does not really exist. Honestly power necro has no reason to roam solo and complain. You have no speed. 2 Players will kill you. Any stealth player will kill you. Why are you out there. I roam with my necro too dont get me wrong but I do not take it seriously. I know for a fact I will die if there are 2+ players or if a good mesmer/thief hell even warrior can constantly reset on you. If you have an 80 mesmer and an 80 thief those are the classes you should use to solo roam seriously with. Necro belongs with friends or zerg. Necro is my main – sad but true. I just use my pretty thief.
