It’s not broken – You just arent utilizing it the right way… if a bullet is in flight do not stealth – it happens to everyone this is how revealed works

If you are in stealth and want to combo with BP untarget your enemy and use BP so it does not hit anyone then sneak attack your target through the BP to apply some blinds

Almost won in 4v5.

What they really need to do is:

Scrap individual rated leaderboards and remake them as team rated leaderboards
The stats for individual ratings are literally 80% based on who is in your team
And only 20% based on what you are actually doing yourself in a given match
Play with good players and your rating goes up, play with bad ones and it goes down
At this point, the ratings would be more accurate if they were team name based

I do not like TOO many cav pieces unless you can stack tons of might which Necro is bad at – You simply lose too much power – I only use 2 cav trinkets on my power thief whom stacks might much better

I understand you want to stack Toughness but Valkyrie might be better since the main stat is power – I truly believe all your pieces of gear must be power main stat to provide killing power in WvW – Necro has poor sustain thus favoring more offense IMO

I think your analysis is pretty spot on – as a D/P user I obviously use BP a ton and love the skill

After a few weeks I think the skill is still very strong but no longer OP – Increasing the radius and/or decreasing after/pre cast would be nice but I do not think it is necessary

don’t defend the easiest kittening build in the game. I’ve seen people who don’t even play thief pick this kitten up proficiently, never seen a bad condi thief. it’s OP

I run 4 points in SA just because of condition spammers like you, Narkodx. It just doesnt help that much.

You finally learned your lesson congrats! I also run D/P power thief since the beginning of time in WvW roaming – I still destroy everything including condi builds

Pro Tip – Try 6 points – shadows rejuv does wonders against DoTs

Yes you should not target the bunker sitting on the point in a 5v5 to ruin your positioning but it is the only reason we can take down Celestial sustain classes along with Corrupt Boon
Plus we should be running the Wurm to reposition if you did a kamikaze to mid

PS – The sound Dark Path makes is kitten awesome!

Terror is build defining. Its one of our only traits that changes some major combat functionality. Traits which do this are build defining because they are most often only used when being built around and even if not they have a very noticeable impact(terror, fresh air, persisting flames, phalanx). No matter how you look at it its a grandmaster level trait. Its certainly better than most of our actual grandmaster traits and one of the few more interesting traits in the game. Moving it would obviously cause terror necros some serious nerfs. But ive always felt it should of been grandmaster from the beginning. You can compensate by moving master of terror to adept or something.

Dhuumfire can be moved down these days IMO – it is a shell of its former self

I keep using the term " you" because i see it every other day inside Obsidian Sanctum or when roaming open world. Again, talking 1v1 here. And i dont mean just me. Our roaming and dueling community is just as upset with the meta as i am.

Thanks for the tips though, Drarnor. I´ll try to soak some advice of that, but the very first thing that comes to mind is the horrible lottery you play when using condition removes. It happens more often then not that my shadowstep removes cripple, weakness and poison when i have burning, confusion and bleeds on me as well. The same applies to the one-condition-removes.

Of course i have to make adjustments to my playstyle. Constantly. Read my signature, there its written :P
But i have come to a fullstop when facing condition builds. For 9 months now i have to run from equally skilled condition egnineers, mesmers and necros. And i tried various build / weapon compositions. I know i have to get better, but in the current meta it seems impossible for me. While my profession keeps getting nerf after nerf, lol.

Terror Necro can defeat it if played very well and chain 2-3 fears in a row
Save Dagger#4 and Staff #4 when you get burning on you

Corrupt Boon counters Armor of Earth which you must wait for before bursting with 2-3 fears so you want to save doom/staff 5 -

carry two stun breaks like spectral armor and wurm for the knockdowns/shocking aura

If at all possible I would like to read more in-depth reasons than “PvP is PvP”, though.

How can we get more in-depth? I like killing everyone – except for people dueling

I do not feel proud or beaming with confidence stomping a PvEr who barely fights back its more funny/pathetic – that does not mean you get a free lunch though

People go into WvW aka EotM to stomp people in zergs pressing 1 while earning karma and badges

If people wanted competition this would have been changed a while ago and EoTM would have never been created

All of the issues concerning WvW right now have to do with the kitten that is EotM

OK so you want a hybrid build and no one is answering you

6/6/x/x/x Would be your best bet utilizing our dps trait lines

As far as gear goes you can mix in Carrion/Zerker to get yourself close to 2k power and as much Condition dmg as possible after that

If you can get 2k power with respectable precision/ferocity than close to death is an option if not dhuumfire – parasitic contagion will not increase dps just survivability which is not needed once you master the PvE engagments

Weapons? Scepter/Dagger along with Axe or Dagger / Warhorn would be my guess – Nemesis used Axe – Staff is weak and slow I never use it anymore

I believe for a hybrid to reach its full potential you would need might stacking so Blood is Power along with Reapers Might along with Aristocrat runes seems like a good bet

Nemesis video while old and “outdated” is still a good source for a hybrid build – not much has changed for a Necromancer since that video

I still find it to be quite effective especially against Ele/Guards

4/6/0/0/4 traiting Chill of Death and Path of Corruption and slotting Corrupt Boon is extremely efficient – I even use an Axe with this build the #3 skill removes a boon

I like that build more than 0/6/4/0/4 – No need for passive defense or staff mastery since I hate the staff

I think if you only take Corrupt Boon or Path of Corruption it is not enough – I think Chill of Death might be the best boon removal trait/skill we have and when you take all three I definitely notice

Also – I run Axe/Warhorn Scepter/Dagger – Warhorn #4 is an unblockable interrupt for your downed teammates getting stomped

Step outside of the meta and find the build that works best for you

Precision is way overrated in this game IMO

With 6 Points in CS/HK a few zerker pieces is more than enough

Roaming in WvW especially you want to look at mixing in Valk/Cav pieces

For PvE all out zerker/sin is the way to go

It isn’t build defining, its literally just something to give us pressure because we lack pressure so much already. We don’t truly have Terror-mancers anymore that are defined by taking the maximum fears they can, we have either tanky-PoC necros which are defined by their difficult to kill in small fights and their corruptions, and Dhuumfire which is defined by its higher offensive output.

The idea that there ever was a Terrormancer, regardless of if its fallen out of PvP meta or not, is indicative of its ability to define a build. Furthermore, it wouldn’t even necessarily constitute a nerf since they’d have to move a GM trait down to compensate, and could do that such to maintain the same build options as before.

If we can not take PoC and Terror the pressure goes down a TON

Unless of course they ever make withering precision worth it

Yes you can stun break out of it but the Ranger has created distance which is quite important as a LB Ranger

I think the animation is fine simply because there are a bunch of lowly telegraphed CC skills in the game – I would simply like the cooldown increased so that every other swap to the LB does not include PBS

This whole thread is just hilarious. Yes, necro fear procs, boon corruption and condition transfers are strong. If you nerf any one of those things without giving serious compensation in the form of survivability buffs to necros then you should probably also just delete the class from pvp. Necros have no group buffs, and generally have to sacrifice 2 utilities for stunbreaks because they lack weapon skills that give them disengage or defense. Even then, every other class has disengage and defensive skills on lower cooldowns or with stronger effects. That is why necros always get focused first, because they have Spectral armor, walk, and well of power which generally don’t do anything to actually get the necro out of harms way, and spectral wurm which requires setup unlike shadowstep, blink, or lightning flash. They also don’t have access to stability, or invulns like guards, engies, and warriors. Necros can be strong, but bringing 1-2 stunbreaks pretty much hardcounters the fear procs (which by the way can be anticipated easily and are on longer cooldowns then stunbreaks). The idea that the class is op in any way is ridiculous, their condition application isn’t that high compared to engis, mesmers, or p/d thieves, and they are only run because of fear chains and boon corruption (which is only needed because of the ridiculous might stacking of engis, eles, and warriors, and to kill guards). Pretty much if you nerf necros at all there will be no reason to run them because condi mesmers and engis will do the same job much better.

Mostly agree with you DiogoSilva – People STILL can not rotate correctly

5v5 Conquest puts way too much of the burden on individual players to make correct rotations constantly. It just does not happen – the barrier of entry for this game is actually pretty high most people like to think this game is brain dead passive play – which it can be during combat.

The thing is that conquest is actually a lot more than just combat. Which is why the formats that offer strictly combat like WvW + Hotjoins are infinitely more popular than Team Q. I think 5v5 is a mistake it needs to be 2v2 death match or 10v10 conquest – less of a burden on every single teammate making the correct rotation

I think the conditions/boons were done terribly and fully agree with you that it should have been limited to certain professions. If only a guardian could use protection like in your example or only a necromancer could use poison etc we would see much bigger/clutch plays

I really wanted to let this thread die, but seeing that you bump it every time no one posts in it for several days……..

Precursors are Precursors. They’re all designed with the same drop rates within the RNG system. Anet controls that part. Player demand is not something Anet controls. In Marketing, there are ways to influence customers, but you can’t outright control what they demand, or how much they’re willing to spend.

Anet can very easily change how much we pay for items in the game. By simply increasing inflation (ramping up faucets or thinning out sinks) they can effectively increase prices….ie how much we are willing to spend. Remember they control almost all of the variables, thus the mostly control the outcomes.

Just because you control the variables does not mean you control the results

What is so hard to understand that the more popular precusors are more expensive because they are more POPULAR

That is determined by the players not Anet

Furthermore, why the hell would Anet cater to any of you?! You guys keep playing the kitten game because you want your shiny Twilight. If I was Anet I would release epic NEW legendaries and make them even harder to get.

I find that using spectral walk, locust swarm, or both, then going into DS (can even use spectral armor – it alone would be enough) will buy you enough time to outlast their immunity. Warrior approaches you, pops the stance, loses 2 secs while getting to you to avoid your CC, you dodge the initial blow, get another sec or 2, then use the above skills. SW and wurm are good to keep a distance, but I think just one of those would be enough if we’re just talking about berserk stance. Even better, if you drag them away from where you used S.Walk, they’ll be chasing you for a good while, you’ll tele back and by that time Zerk stance should run out. Other than that…. watch for their animations, dodge the important attacks, and run xD … or that’s what I try to do.

Spectral _ + Deathshroud + Life Transfer while you eat the hammer attacks

Hopefully you still have LF once zerker stance ends in which case you can start the fear train

The best tip I can give any Necro to close the “1500-Gap” to a LB ranger si useing Spectral Walk in reverse. By that ofc meen when he attacks use Sp.Walk and make him folllow you then port back, then close the gap with Dark Path and he panics cause no LB Ranger is built to stay close on target.

Even with new boost to LB dmg up close, being on him is the key and “reverse Sp.Walk” is what usually works best.

That is a great tip

I have found simply using Spectral Armor and going into a Full bar of deathshroud to be enough to close the gap and mitigate the damage

If you are condi it is not that hard since you should have 9-1200 range

The new LB/GS Power Rangers can not hold up once you get them in a fear chain… very few condi cleanses

PvE? You want full power – as much berserker as you can muster without getting one shot. Highest DPS weapon? Dagger no contest – Whoever said staff is a fool which is mostly a utility/tagging/condition weapon – very strong for WvW and PvP
Axe is also good but a bit on the slower side and additionally if you think Axe #2 fills up LF so fast have you tried Dagger #1 – It is the best for filling LF
Minions? Not really for the best dps build – in the end you can play how you wish but there is a sticky on the top of this forum for PvE guides which you can use

But then we have to get rid of the following:

Traits which activate upon a control effect
Tempest Defense — Activates Shocking Aura when disabled
Autodefense Bomb Dispenser — Drops a Smoke Bomb when disabled
Protection Injection — Gain Protection when disabled
Retaliatory Subconscious — Gain Retaliation
Mirror of Anguish — Copy the same effect back at your foe
Reaper’s Protection — Inflicts AoE fear on foes when disabled
Hide in Plain Sight — Gain Camouflage
Stability Training – Ursine, porcine, and armor fish pets gain stability when disabled.
Hard to Catch — Shadowstep away and gain swiftness when disabled
Last Stand — Negates the control effect and activates Balanced Stance

There are a TON of passive traits. Aren’t all traits passive? Meh.

The thing is Necromancer actually has SYNERGY with its anti-cc trait. Terror-Reapers Protection-Master of Terror-Nightmare Runes
