Skilled condi necro destroys any warrior build – IF WE FIGHT OFF POINT – The strength of Hambow is fighting on tiny circles

thanks the other guy for pointing out i have 1 more zero then necesary but no im far from new and ive been playing since the release of the game.Ive ran spvp for at least a full year and a lot of build to. While mesmer was not my main (warrior and rangers are) i still do understand most of the concept behind it.

Tbh multiclass player are usually better players than mono class users , becuz they know the mechanics of what they are fighting ( assuming they already played this build) , and it hlps a lot to take someone down in a tf or 1N1.eh i have played other classes i just don’t trust thieves on my team, most of them are usually pretty bad and i need high moblity or bunker guard if i want to have any chance to win game

And Arena.net should do this! I am PvE only player and i have serious reason for it. I have issues with anger management and unable to do PvP as i can damage PC or some other thing even people around at home when i fail against other players…. I agree with any solution to remove WvW from completion list or to remove completion from PvE or to give some completelly peaceful visiting hour per day to complete WvW or non-attack buff, where you go, keep status quo from everything and nobody can attack you and you don’t capture anything, you just do completion & etc..
I hate pvp and never liked it and never will like it, i simply unable to play it and DON’T FORCE ME TO DO IT! I just did around month of time completion and today found that i need to go like cannon fodder in enemy area. I don’t feel in this way any pleasure from game and i am very disappointed that i bought this game for this… I had hope that you won’t force to do PvP like in Guildwars1 which i like. WvW is all about population…not really…population and coverage is a large part. But the commanders that run during those times and how they play will set it apart. For instance on CD. Ohbe is a game changer because CD was heavily outnumbered during NA prime. often times fighting outmanned on home bl. But he’s able to to stabilize it with the assets he had and brought morale back for NA prime. Hence the game changer, a complete 180 of a dire situation.

If you want to use a special leet tactic to surprise your enemy then use it in the tournaments and practice it in your custom arenas thus keeping it out of team q – but the cyclical changing of strategies due to countering said strategies is a part of all competitive things including prosports esports card games etc etc

I didn’t even know they worked in WvW, but they shouldn’t. They’re not available through normal play, only the gem store, so they shouldn’t be usable in any kind of pvp (not just “competitive” pvp) as they give an advantage to the richer player.
And to those saying “it’s only 5% you probably would’ve won/lost anyway,” that’s a bad argument that could be used to justify nearly any level of P2W. In a close fight 5% can make a different, so they shouldn’t be allowed.
You’re complaining about fairness in WvW, where numbers rule all? If you want the fairest of fair fights, go to pvp where these arent allowed. Otherwise there is literally no argument you can make that isn’t trumped by “bring a friend.”

Thief is not for you my friend – try Warr or Guard
One thing no one mentioned is LUCK and Precursor Mystic Forge Rolling
For example I save all my rare daggers/swords/greatswords to roll in the mystic forge for a chance at precursor
Before I maxed out magic find I would salvage everything for luck but that obviously takes a long time
But obviously neither of these options is taking into consideration strictly the max profit so yeah depends where you are gold-wise the above options for luck and precursors is probably better when you have nothing to spend money on

This would have to cause a rehaul of character though and I don’t see Anet doing this.
And I also don’t get the complaint about having tower-rats. Maybe this would make defending a keep important and less of a driveby. It’d certainly help to change the way people think of keeps now.

There is no “current spam of in combat stealth every 3-4 seconds”! Not only do we not have the inititiave for it, but it would also severely take away the damage potential you usually spend initiative on. Pluss you have revealed that prevents you from restealthing.
If you’re playing a backstab build, you should be stealthing once Revealed is gone (3 or 4 seconds depending on gamemode) and initiative management is quite easy with certain traits and skills. There are several weapon sets that also can help you keep your stealth up frequently. I will admit that there are a few that don’t, but those builds don’t really rely on stealth now do they?
Self-originating Revealed = 3 or 4 seconds. Not sure why you two didn’t think of that when you read my original post.

Hey, if you have problems landing C/D that’s your issue, not mine. I normally don’t have that issue with my thief. You’re also forgetting utilities, but I understand where you’re coming from because not everyone runs shealth engaging uts. However, add up all those potential stealth skills and you can be darting in and out of stealth frequently. I’m not talking about long drawn out fights though, so I’ll give you that.
Btw, not everyone that uses stealth use x/6/6/x/x builds.

You’re absolutely right, my BS hits like a wet noodle although I rarely use BS since I mostly go for Sneak Attack wich gives more bleeds.
First I’ll give the weapon change a chance since it costs less then to regear entirely and slot new runes and infusions into the new gear. I’ve tried some theorycraft with the gear you proposed and it looks quite impressive on paper so I’m sure I’ll test that too.
What do you think about taking Bewildering Ambush over Sleight of Hand (trickery) since it gives 5 stacks of confusion 100% (well if your target doesn’t dodge the steal ofc) as opposed to Sleight of hand’s stun to trigger the runes 5 stacks of confusion isn’t 100%. Excuse my poor english, I hope you will understand what I am trying to ask.
Both grandmaster traits are viable but I find SoH to be superior especially since you can apply confusion with it already – keep in mind if you use basilik venom you can also interrupt and proc perplexity also if you use headshot pistol #4 – so you have multiple ways to apply confusion and the trait sort of becomes redundant – SoH also synergizes beautifully with Mug to apply that poison/dmg/heal
The above poster says that Dire and D/D work perfectly – simply not true
Dire ehnhances only two of the skills of that weapon set death blossom’s bleeds and lotus strikes poison – every other skill benefits from power – those are facts
There is no chance you will defeat ANY good player using deathblossom alone – simply not going to happen it is way too predictable and leaves you very open to counterattacks – same situation with P/P where only the auto attack and sneak attack benefit from Dire
Carrion is the best armor set for those weapons if you want to focus on conditions – those weapon sets can be played as pure power but they will NOT be effective as pure condition aka Dire
Either use P/D (Shadow Strike is where the dmg is at for condi users) or use Carrion gear so that ALL of your weapon skills actually do damage – using an intelligence sigil on your dagger would be smart as well since your crit chance will be low- a nice combo to use would be black powder on P/P switch to D/D heartseeker to gain stealth and gain three guaranteed critical strikes from intel then backstab for decent damage followed by a heartseeker or two
Fun? Subjective – the only way you will know which is more fun is to play them both and make that distinction yourself
Solo PvE? Elementalist has more DPS when running pure glass builds which are not easy to keep alive in a solo setting – Necro is definitely more forgiving and inherently tankier due to DeathShroud
early/mid/late – not much to say here besdies leveling a necro is easier but it has been so long for me I do not have much of an opinion on leveling
Group Content – Here is the key where one class is clearly more suited than the other which is Elementalist – one of the best classes for stacking might and other boons – great class in WvW zergs with staff utilizing water fields and blasts to heal your teammates – Necromancer in general is a selfish profession with little to no group buffs/heals
My suggestion is to not delete your necro/elementalist and eventually get them both to 80 they are both great classes for AoE destruction which is useful in group (zerg) combat in WvW – Ele is much more useful for dungeons/fractals due to group buffs

Character Models Low
Frame Limiter to 60
You probably won’t be able to read animations with low character models but you gotta play right?
Shadows off
Reflections low
Those will help too but the game will look vastly different

Who the hell can stealth every 3/4 seconds? The misinformation of the average GW2 player when it comes to stealth or any type of PvP mechanics is ridiculous. Have you ever heard of REVEALED? How about Initiative? Or Utility Skills Cooldowns? ALL of those mechanics prevent stealthing as often as you claim it to be
Bottom Line: Go Play WoW – Those of us who have been playing this game for a while have adjusted and stopped crying about stealth a LONG time ago – L 2 P

Necro technically can apply confusion using spectral wall and staff #1 for a projectile finisher through ethereal field – this will never happen LOL
You essentially get access to confusion by interrupting your foe with the numerous fears we have as well if you carry warhorn offhand which has an unblockable daze which can interrupt – very nice if I may say so myself from experience
The zerker build I had been using for a while now relied on using my lifeforce the immediately having more after using it all up and being able to re enter deathshroud…. it may be a bug fix but a nerf is a nerf is a nerf. How come we are only seeing it get fixed now?
I think they did it to force people into using US.

I push far all the time. If they send 2, I just run mid and we have a 4v3 there, if they send one, I can prevent him from capping, when the second guy gets there to help, I shadow-step and run mid, again creating an outnumbered scenario for my team.
Whats worse than 1 guy rushing far is what usually happens- the typical kitten solo q meta of 1 home, send 4 mid all kittening game as if its worth more points. It’s the most braindead thing ever yet it happens 80% of the time.
No.. I wish it happened 80% of the time – I would secure the team fight more often instead of wondering why the glass Thief is always in downed state at far
You may know what to do when pushing far as a Thief but sadly most do not – it is much better and safer to stick to 1 home 4 mid especially in solo q where communication and teamwork is non-existent

As far as PvP is concerned the Thief will always have a place and it is not because of damage it is because of superior mobility – which allows you to outrotate the other team and outnumber fights – another key reason is shadow refuge resing which if done correctly is essentially unstoppable – thirdly the thief keeps other glass cannon classes in check like mesmer/lbow ranger/DS necro
WvW as long as you are built for stealth you are a superior roamer able to harass camps and doylaks with impunity and able to escape the blobbiest of blobs
Thief is not a class for slow reactions – should definitely not be your first class either the Thief is extremely unforgiving to mistakes
Assassins Equilibrium is meh.. with S/D utilitzing cloak and dagger often can make the trait good but it is otherwise pretty weak
For WvW without Shadow Arts it is quite difficult to survive the condi spam especially if you are roaming solo

You can swap AE for Power of Inertia might stacking
Most S/D thieves these days use 2/0/6/0/6
I think the crit strikes build has more burst while deadly arts has more sustained damage?
Either way I prefer the DA build now – especially with D/P I think Shadows Embrace is a must have to survive the condis and is easily accessible with Powder and HS

The situation is how effective the build is for the amount of effort – which is significanly lower on the effort side compared to most builds – All that needs to be tweaked about the build is how effective it is – which may be a symptom of the conquest game mode and not necessarily the build

It’s not broken – You just arent utilizing it the right way… if a bullet is in flight do not stealth – it happens to everyone this is how revealed works
If you are in stealth and want to combo with BP untarget your enemy and use BP so it does not hit anyone then sneak attack your target through the BP to apply some blinds
LOL, I don’t know about that. There isn’t any other instance where BP will insta-reveal you because it stops attacking automatically. You’re telling me, that in order to use this skill I have to stop attacking, THEN use it? Sounds more like a workaround than working as intended.
It is almost like you started playing thief yesterday… the revealed mechanics have been here since day one
If there is a projectile in flight and I stealth before it lands I will be revealed when it lands… period thats it – working this way since the game has been released
for this same reason throw gunk will reveal you if you stealth while someone is standing on it – it pulses damage which reveals you if you are stealth
