No one has numbers on a MM build because no one would ever consider it a competitive DPS build for PvE
Any build that invests in minions is automatically un-optimized for damage – there are far better traits for damage and far better utilities for damage
So? Play MM if you want to have fun but it is nowhere near optimal DPS

So many people in this game are unaware that fighting on a point you do not own is not a good idea unless you are going to win
So many people in this game are unaware that LOS and constant movement renders turrets useless – the turret must first turn to face you and then it fires – gives you a window to dodge the net turret which is what kills most people
I think the actual turrets have a bit too much health but otherwise not much of an issue IMO once you learn how to outsmart the AI

I like you OP did not want to do sPvP because I wanted to use my special snowflake build
1500+ tournament games later I realized I was simply being carried by the stats
Playing without over powered stats is not easy but it will make you a better player I promise
The WvW builds simply maintain zerker type burst but pad it with 3k toughness and other sustain that is not viable or possible in PvP
I am still not home to test this but could it be that Deathly Swarm has a cast time of 1/4 second as opposed to the other skills have 3/4 second cast time – The fact that deathly swarm is faster and has less of a “wind-up” probably makes it get cancelled by slower skills… gonna have to test when I get home

More overall damage but obviously less defense but I feel with two stun breaks it is enough + auto spectral armor
I still think as a Necro celestial mightstacking type builds don’t do enough damage anyway because Soldiers Hambow and other similar type of builds take too kitten long for me while wearing celestial but maybe thats just me
Just having a random 1v1 tournament that probably had only 20 participants doesn’t make them the best at 1v1. Theres millions of players in the game. Around 20 people is a tiny fraction of types of playstyle and skills the other 999,980+ people have to offer.
Also theres no videos of this either in this thread. How can we judge them if we don’t even know who they faced? each other?No brackets or any proof, just information that’s not really valid is all I’m seeing here.

Even if you limit it to meta tpvp specs only there are certain builds you won’t and can’t 1v1 – D/P thief wants to enter an even fight and make it uneven by bursting someone down quickly

When you want to disengage just click on the ground to de-target
I think that is incorrect. It de-highlights the current target but the targeting is still there. The reason I say this is that when attacking and you try to select something 2-5 but due to range or LoS block you accidentally target a friendly the auto attack seems to continue.
The only way I know of to fully disengage is to press ESC. Sometimes you have to quick spam it due to attack timing. Binding the ESC to a mouse button (if you have a gaming mouse) would work I should think.

Necro axe isn’t solely underpowered because of its poor power scaling, it is underpowered because it is condi/power, and there is no way to efficiently build for both condition duration and power, as well as vulnerability itself being really poor compared to the defensive boons it has to deal with. 25 stacks of a very difficult to maintain condition are more than nullified by a single boon which at least two classes can have up at all times.
It’s not condi/power. It applies no damaging conditions. It’s weak because it deals weak damage and has little utility.
I didn’t specify condition damage, the axe is meant to be indirect and attrition damage, relying on vulnerability from its auto and retaliation. Except because of the eternally poor acquisition of condition duration it can’t maintain a reasonable amount of stacks, not to mention the poor performance of vulnerability even if maintained.
I see where you’re coming from but I will disagree
Condition Duration should not be the problem considering the Spite line is Power/Con Duration which is also the trait line containing Axe Mastery so you should be invested there in Axe builds
Stacking Vuln is actually not terrible on the Axe anymore due to the much faster/fluid animation of Rending Claws
The actual damage on paper of the axe is pretty good the problem comes in actual combat – Axe is simply too slow for the fast paced action of GW2 and relying on a long channel Ghastly Claws for damage is unacceptable – also why would you tie the burst skill and the sustain skill all in one – I think the auto attack should be the LF generator
All the players on those lists are most definitely skilled players, OEggs teamqued with us (FPX)the other day and we were destroying people mostly because he would plant his kitten at far and proceed to 1v2 1v3 the other team giving us the advantage on every other point.
I always find it amusing when people decide that these players aren’t skilled and that random guy they know from solo q is so much better than all of them but cannot break into tourneys because it’s some sort of secret society or popularity contest. Morons.

So warrior went from 12k dps to 11.5k dps with banners untouched and we have 3 pages worth of discussion on how warriors are broken in PvE

Roe, the example I gave was from PvE but I still think changing the trait to a very short Fear and long stun is worth considering for PvP. I do not want to have to burn Dark Path because of my own CC. I have enough trouble closing gaps for dagger as it is. Knock-backs are fine for professions with combat mobility skills and more easily mitigated. Having to waste time and gamble DP or SG will actually work is already a pain.

Five stacks of confusion is not garbage. Even then, I only said I used the trait on a perplexity build, did not like it very much due to its side effects, and suggested an improvement to the trait.
During ToT, I experimented with interrupts for perplexity in 6/4/4/0/0 and 6/6/0/0/2. Feel free to give me suggestions but do not tell me what I can, and cannot, do
Edit: I hope we can all agree RP is sub-par without some damaging proc on the skill. Plain Fear w/o Terror or confusion on RP is annoying for its duration as a gap opener on a profession with only two mobility skills, no leaps, and no whirls. I <3 walls and cliffs for limiting flee distance or forcing a fight reset because the profession has precious little mobility.

However I do not think most people will agree that Zerker Armor with Perplexity Runes and Reapers Protection is a good combination anywhere in the game especially in PvE
Mobs in PvE do not attack fast enough for confusion to be a solid source of DPS furthermore you are in zerker gear making your confusion tick for negligible amounts and finally Reapers Protection and death magic in general is not necessary in PvE where the only thing that truly matters is damage
But again do not take this offensively play what you like – I am simply stating it is not an optimal setup
I really don’t want to be a kitten but that build looks like it hits like a wet noodle besides the few fears. Could work if you had someone constantly giving you might stacks otherwise you would be 100% better off focusing on condi or power.

Its a mistake to create an unranked queue because it continues with a divided community. To continue with a divided community (which is very small anyway) whilst introducing more comprehensive matchmaking is a mistake.
It is a maths problem. The new algorithm for matchmaking will only work based on a large player pool. That will not be possible due to the splittng of queues.
The result is that the algorithm won’t work. People will just wait ages in solo queue and be put against premades.
They could of really given it a chance to produce a better pvp experience by removing unranked and just having practice play and rank queue. But as usual their oversight is they release no info until it is too late to take and act upon feedback. Which is a massive problem with how they approach their development generally.
I sort of agree splitting the player base in two pools instead of three is better but…
We are currently splitting the players into three pools – HJ-Solo-Team
But now with rewards and such for ladders people will probably not que unless they have their super team and are all but guaranteed a win – I think solo people queing up will become rare as people game the system but we can only hope it doesn’t become that way

The problem with the build is stickiness. It has no uptime on Swiftness and no way to keep opponents in melee range besides the a minor GS pull (which you need for the high condition damage), JI (used just to get to the opponent) and GS Leap once engaged. And as stated in this same thread, the lack of condition applying weapons (think spam 1 bleed/torment weapons on other classes) diminishes any pure condition build the Guard can have (see below though).
The second problem with the build (in addition to no stickiness) is that burn uptime is really based on you blocking at least some of the opponent strikes. If the opponent decides to run, you can’t really kill them.
IMO, the real power of a viable Guard condition build is actually using Tome of Wrath but it’s hard to get it and Elite Focus in a viable build together (not enough points) because ToW has Affliction and spam Conflagrate. But then it is entirely tied to the elite cooldown.
You are wrong on many levels it is not just strong “on paper”
Make your way to the King of the Hill duel servers and watch it in action – it literally destroys 90% of the zerker builds
Before you make any claims on the skill level of the people on that server please make your way over there and join the fight – plenty of high skilled players – especially in primetime
Necros Dagger and Axe are getting plenty of use. Power Necros are nothing to scuff at.
If we are talking about pve, necro mainhand dagger is good, but it can still use a faster cast time on dagger #2. On the otherhand, in PvP necro mainhand dagger doesn’t see a lot of play (once again buff dagger #2). Off hand dagger is good for blinding and condi transfer. Necro Axe auto attack is mediocre at best.

Dagger is not perfect but it is strong – as far as I know it has the strongest auto attack in the game which is enough of a reason to bring it plus the best life force gainer
Dagger #2 sucks we all know this – but when you are kiting and need some health this skill works the buffs weren’t amazing but it is indeed improved
Dagger #3 is pretty boss IMO – just needs a cooldown reduction or cast time reduction or something but Necros do not have a lot of CC on weapon sets so it is good for setting up anything you want as a power necro
The Axe still needs help but the auto attack is a lot faster and fluid – you can stack over 10 vuln pretty quickly now
Axe#2 is good for baiting dodges pretty much I prefer you dodge this so I can catch you with some life blasts later
Axe#3 is pure awesomeness nothing to talk about here
If any Necro weapon needs help it is the focus IMO
Eventually every weapon on every class will be listed as weak here by someone

I do not like that build for a few reasons
Power Sword build is better with arms IMO – specifically 5 points into arms is actually very useful as you should always have your enemy bleeding so nice extra 10% damage – You can then grab Forceful Greatsword and Hoelbrek Runes – Better than Melandru
Burst Mastery? Not necessary in my opinion – You want sword burst into hundred blades you use arcing slice when opponent is low on health you do not fully depend on your burst for damage only for control/condition cleansing all of your damage is mostly from GS skills 2/3/4/5 with the occasional final thrust if it crits and lands it is a true beast – swiftness up time is low you gotta roll with warriors sprint not signet mastery with all the leaps you will escape any bad situation

A mild inconvenience? Sure, I am not the best PvPer in terms of tactics, hell, I just got into it, but it doesn’t matter whether I’m on point or off-point, if the trait saves a player (i.e. me, or a Necro from the first time stamp)…. that’s a player that’s ALIVE because of the trait. Is that so hard to compute? If the Necro dies, it suddenly becomes a 4v5 with a thief on the loose – a VERY bad outcome. If the Necro survives, it’s still a 5v5, and the thief can still stay on you but you had time to recover, which is fine.
-In the first clip, the Necro was ressing an ally. It was likely that they would both go down because of the thief cleave but instead, the thief gets feared all the way down the steps. Both people are alive because of one trait, gg.In the other fights, negating a thief’s burst with 1 trait – let me emphasize … one trait – shouldn’t even be an argument. He won’t burst you down, he will instead take damage, and like in one of the clips… he used his utility skill (stun break) to break from my passive trait proc. So basically he wasted an utility skill for passive trait proc, another plus for me. Now if the team was more organized and we had TS and all that jazz, the thief would be in a very dangerous spot being feared for such a long time… and possibly without a stun break.
Also all of those situations happened in two PvP matches. In other words, within 30 mins of the game and already you can start seeing the trait’s usefulness. If you had Greater Marks you would hardly benefit in those 2 matches. You’d likely be dead.

The Glorious Hero’s Armor is a skill-based reward. I’d wager that the players who top the ladders are all skilled players in some regard.
If you don’t think they are, you have until Dec 2 to knock them out of the top 20.

Well first of all Necro also has PoC every 15/12 seconds depending on trait it is not limited to Corrupt Boon only
I have fought this build before it is pretty good but you guys are overstating the damage – no one is going to get hit by chaos storm or staff auto attacks that often so there is a lot of damage and condition coverage – scepter is laughable damage wise if you know how to avoid the block and torch phantasm is useless – the entire build relies on shatters which are entirely avoidable
This build is easier to cleanse then necro/engi – this build is also weak against conditions a necro transfer pretty much ends your day
The AoE pressure from this build is trash Necro Staff+Sc+DS#4/5 and Engi Grenades is way better
Finally you can not hold a point as well because you stealth and are overall less tanky

It is hard to gauge the skill in a 1v1 as he can focus on you and all your animations thus saving dodges for this skill
In a team fight dodging pin down is not as easy and they did change this for a reason because the skill is STILL ridiculously strong if it connects
Compare this to dagger#3 skill of a Necromancer – just as easy to dodge yet pindown is much stronger

It will all depend on how well the matchmaking algorithms will be – they will be taking into consideration pre-made teams and single players
If you Q up solo it should attempt to find solo players first – if you Q up in a group it should attempt to find pre-made teams first

The issue with this build is it moves slow and it kills slow – In a big team fight with a bunker guard and ele you can pretty much be ignored with all the cleansing and heals they can put out while they focus your squishy teammates
It also has almost no control or utility which other condition specs do – condi necro has plenty of fear and boon rip – what makes this build better than a condi necro/engi for example that justifies bringing it into a team

etom is already a bad thing because it hurts EB/borderland population.
I’m just wondering how you figure EotM hurts EB/Borderland population? People who want to play EB/Borderlands will play there and people who have no intention of ever playing there but want to earn Badges and WvW exp. will play EotMs. Maybe I’m missing something?
When someone who does not normally play WvW considers entering it they will more often than not first choose EotM
This new player will then try EB and Borderlands and find the rewards to be worse as well as the overall fights more difficult with smaller or outnumbered groups
Once that distinction is realized venturing into EB and Borderlands becomes pointless and more of an effort than the relaxed nature of EotM
For the most part those who still go to borderlands and EB are not worried with rewards and are veteran players who understand the mindless nature of EotM
Both of those specs are good one has more utility with trickery the other has more damage with critical strikes – that is basically it
I prefer more utility and simply hate playing thief without 15 initiative the 3rd trait in trickery line
Try each build and you will find one which you prefer

Carrion guards are actually a legitimate threat. The burns they dish out are insane, on top of the solid power damage they have.
Hybrid guard =/= full condi guard. The only DPS condition a guardian has is burning, and any build that has decent active cleansing can render it near useless.
/Sigh. If you haven’t played against the build or played the build, you won’t know. Even Eles can find condi guards hard to deal with.
The argument is that carrion guard is not really a full condi build and leans more towards hybrid – I have seen some run it with GS which is obv not a condi weapon
6/2/6/0/0 build is the one we are talking about I assume? It uses meditations as well and it is indeed quite strong but I would not really call it a condi build it definitely does decent physical damage
