Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
This is a kittening joke.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
If any of the devs do happen to look at this please look at the Mesmer forum. I fear this ileap change a very heavy nerf to wvw/pvp Mesmers. More then you realize.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Great guild always fun to fight.

Playing shatter mes
Easiest: Guard (Dps and bunk), Ele
Hardest: Engi, Thief
Playing Ranger
Easiest: Thief, Mesmer
Hardest: Warrior
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
The one that is preventing me from playing my Mesmer lately is the permanent immobilize on blinking/phase retreat. Serious close to 3/4 of my deaths in Tpvp come while typing /sit so I can move again. Beyong fustating when it happens up to five times in a single match.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Couldn’t agree more OP!
Also sometimes when I burst, thieves just dodge it, making my attack useless. So I suggest making thieves unable to dodge, evade or move whenever a warrior attacks.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Can no longer play ranked matches because of this, need to map hop in hotjoin to avoid this bug. Plz hotfix anet.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
I’d dig it if it transferred the boon.
Also if it was a blast finisher.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
This would make me quit the game.
Your proposal is buffing phantasm playstyle and nerfing all other Mesmer play.
Having the f1-f4 as utilities means a shatter mes has no stunbreak or escape as well as loosing a lot of clone production. Strongly against. The mesmer is fine as it is.
Edit: Apoligies if that came off harsh or blunt; no negativity intended.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
(edited by Neptune.2570)
Don’t mean to be rude but it does seem to lack synergy. Also, you NEED at least one stunbreak! (I rarely use less then two xD)
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Power PU is by far the most efficient and I could not blame you for a second for choosing it.
Shatter is a high risk, high reward spec with a much higher skill cap and very active gameplay.
Depends if you want to feel OP and faceroll or wish to improve your skill and play a very intricate skill based build.
This is what I run (It’s not anything new, pretty standard build)
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNAsfWlknpRtlpxTNcrNCrxg6s66MSOQAlMkrB-TlCFABFcIAKZ/BAeAAFqOxVKBRS5nAnAAHOCAGqySa6DAA-w
The obvious needs to be said, you probably wanna remove one of your utilities for a condi cleanse (mantra is the most reliable).
Strength runes are also pricey, as an alternative I’d suggest hoelbrak, infiltration or traveller.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Just spawn more clones.
#Karl2014
Lol’d.
But seriously, I suggest using s/x-staff (presuming there running s/d or s/p). You will still be hard countered (presuming you play shatter) But you’ll be in a with a chance at outplaying them.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
While I don’t think there OP per say, I do not enjoy fighting AI. If I did I would go to PvE. Turret Engie removes the fun from matches, and I can’t imagine playing such passive builds is overly fun either.
Fun is why we’re PvPing in the first place, isnt it?
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Thief’s themselves are not OP, the problem is with the hard counter they have to particular classes (ele and mesmer). Yes, I am biased in saying this maining a mesmer and all, but if I want to run the most effective build for my team, it’s shatter. The current thief meta is s/d. Mesmers rely on teleports for there defensive, s/d teleports better. Unless I SERIOUSLY outplay an s/d in 1v1 or I manage to get a gank first while the thief is distracted during a teamfight then I am utterly defensless against a half competent s/d.
Thiefs are not OP at all, it’s just the design which allow them to hard counter certain classes to the point where they virtually are on extinction in the meta. As you can imagine a few of those players would qq. as for the Wars/guards/engis complaining. It’s L2P.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Anet have said they welcome player opinions and intend to add more options for PvP, so instead of the usual pessimism of commenting ‘ANet would never do that’ etc, show them why it’s a good idea.
This has my support. This is the type of PvP I was after when getting the game. This is the type of game mode that would keep me playing.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Mesmer’s are not weak, there just completely kittened sideways by a half competent thief to the point where they get locked out of the match.
As for hotjoin? I imagine they were talking about PU builds, that are, in those situations, pretty kitten OP.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
I am a pretty chill guy irl, it is not my nature to get rage. Like at all.
However occasionally, in map chat or directed at a certain team member, I can get rather angry. I’m an experienced PvPer. I enjoy good games with good team mates against good opposition. After multiple games of being disallowed this and versing players using hotjoin builds etc, I do start to get a bit angry.
My anger is absolutely directed in the wrong places, it’s not the players fault, it’s matchmakings fault for putting r80’s with r5’s who weren’t really sure where they should be qing anyway.
I think there’s a lot in the same boat as me, changing the matchmaking to base it closer to experience would reduce a huge amount of the general negativity in PvP and would make it a lot more welcoming for new players playing alongside fellow new players.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
It replaces the daze rather then adding a stun after a daze.

Forest of Nifhel.
The Temple and Foefire are also enjoyable.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
The best of both worlds. Do it.
Timing your mauls after your stuns/swaps for guaranteed 150% bonus damage and crit on top does around 5.5k in celestial, all the meanwhile pressuring with condi pressure from devourer/sb. Darting in and out and following your stuns with your burst gives great damage, on top of being tanky, with tasty condi pressure.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
LOL. This isn’t even worthy of structured answer. The amount players still attempting to use Mesmer in high end PvP can be counted on one hand.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
I occasionally run a 6/2/6/0/0 build In Tpvp. I have to say it’s very effective in team fights. CI is the real star in the build, but Power Block can be a real game changer with a bit of skill/luck.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
There’s a reason most teams have been running 2 warriors for the past 6 months.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Most of what you propose is really over the top and would make ranger a seriously OP easy mode class.
The Dust Trap/smoke field idea is friggen awesome and would be a great addition!

Would expect a dev to comment by now. Literally every single player is dcing every minute, the game is unplayable
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Lol at the qqing. Meanwhile I still haven’t received my season 1 rewards yet after getting a ‘soon’ response to the bug. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Dcing every 30 seconds since logging in, not just me, entire map in hotm. I’m sure it’s more maps if not all maps.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Presumably you’re talking about team q? Then ranger has traditionally had a solid place in a meta team. It’s only recently that we’ve fallen out of the meta, more to do with a few bugs and additions that buff other classes more then the ranger. In saying that, I’d never argue with a skilled ranger in my team.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
-Target is able to dodge the cast
-Blind will cause you to miss with Arcane Thievery
-Arcane Thievery will hit through Aegis (More realistically steal the Aegis)
-Not sure about the exact cast time, perhaps the animation last longer but the cast goes off at 1/4 sec
-Must have an enemy Targeted. Skill does not autotarget and will put Arcane Thievery on full cooldown.
-(Edit: As pointed out by posted you no longer have to be facing your target, skill will hit regardless. Fixed in a recent patch)

Gonna disagree strongly with some people saying it isn’t a viable trait. Basing your build off the trait is a bad idea, but taking with a ranged shatter gs/staff build is a great addition. Ranged shatter forces your opponent to move on you, and to actively use there skills to pressure you, constant torment and confusion stacks is a nasty extra when there already dealing with your power burst.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
As mentioned, you NEED precision to make a viable condi mesmer. May I suggest using either a rampagers amulet or a celestial if you want the power? If you want it to be purely condition then rabid is your go.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
In no particular order.
Mind Wrack
Portal
Phase Retreat
Chaos Storm, Time Warp, Blurred frenzy and Arcane Thievery deserve a mention as well.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
It’s about time this thread was bought back to see your opinions post patch.
From a Tpvp standpoint.
S :
+ Thief
= Warrior, Engineer.
A :
+Guardian,
= Ele,
= Necro.
B :
= Mesmer,
- Ranger.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Mesmer > Thief? If were talking running actual viable team builds (not PU, not condi) then thief hard counters every other caster to the point that unless your a top player, or vsing a team with no s/d thief, mesmer has no place in a serious team.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Mesmer:
Target enemy in distance, blink past it then phase retreat while still targeted for a 2000 (or more if traited) range teleport.
Laying an exit portal then stomping half a second later will allow you to port away mid stomp ad take your port back to the downed player to finish the stomp.
After pulling your temporal curtain, the combo field remains there but invisible for the duration that the skill would have lasted.
With at least 15 points into domination, using a chaos storm and daze shatter onto your enemies will leave them on 25 stacks of invulnerability.
If you don’t run PU, you will find it easier to make friends.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Ranger itself is fine imo, but the nature spirit has serious problems right now. Seems like the cast time for the rez has been drastically increased, and it’s incredibly buggy, not even going off sometimes now.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
As an occasional ranger in PvP I can confirm that after feature patch, pet continues to heal after interrupted.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
I mainly use my main, but alternatively can alternate to an alt.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Hey everyone!
So I am fairly new to GW2 and very green to PvP but I have been giving it a go the last few days, and I must say of all the MMO’s that I have played the PvP in GW2 is extremely unbalanced.
I play a thief with 15.5k HP and have been hit by warriors for 9k+ hits. If I manage to get a backstab off from stealth the most it crits for is 6k. So hitting a toon with 21k hp for 6 k when they can just turn around and drain 3/4 of my health is absolutely outrageous.
Is there something I am overlooking or am not doing or is this the reality of pvp in GW2?
I am very open to discussion and would love to hear other peoples opinions. Cheers
Every class has a very unique mechanic to it. Warriors is a very basic one. They have a lot of health, a lot of armor and deal a lot of damage. As a new player they will give you a lot of trouble, but the more you play and get familiar with your class and others, the easier they get. There strength is also there weakness. They are very basic.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
My second fav map, I think the buffs on it are just right. I think your team just needs to revise strategies.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Remove the glass and add barriers. Make the cannon evadable. Either that or remove the map, it isn’t fun in this state.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
This^
Teamspeak, can multiclass, can take criticism, have experiance.
Can not play daily or dedicate a certain time to a team.
Any guilds full of casual pvp enthusiasts?
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Teleport skills on my Mesmer, Blink/Phase retreat seem to proc it stupidly often.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Join a Solo / Team Queue game, grouped up with three Light professions against a sensible composition. Announce Home bunker, 3 other team members run with you and stand on Home to get the “capture credit” for their personal score. After that, they spend the rest of the match collectively chasing a Thief in circles around the map.
Your Ranger eventually breaks off by himself to play with their Bunker Guardian on Mid for 5-6 minutes, which concludes any offensive action against actual capture points ever undertaken by your team, and then the game ends 500-90 with plentiful “GG EZ EZ” proclamations from the winning team.
This, except bunkering home all game against one or two far point assaults yeilds a lower personal score, and your own team blames you for the loss.
I think it’s time soloq was matched on experience, not MMR.
Mellowpuff [Champion Hunter]
Soloq is full of bads. No amount of MMR can escape it.
