I heard it’s over today. Which is absurd, I’m down for content every two weeks but they at least need to keep each patch a month, between work and daily life stuff there simply isn’t enough time to complete the content given to us. (achievements).
Even old Hogger had a more complex and superb fight than most bosses in this game. The greatest boss fight in this game is most likely the High Orrian Wizard with ten people. Now that I think about it, I haven’t enjoyed any of the boss fights in this game.
This seems about right.

I AM the NORLAX!
A proper expansion with new character classes, a new proper set of zones, you know like the ones we had at launch with a laughable storyline revolving around a dragon…
Fixed* New zones is kind of a bad to be honest, things just need to be executed better, look at WoW the only zones that are populated is the faction capital city’s, main starter zones, max level daily questing area and all other zones are empty.
It would be nice to see all of Tyria though, Woodland Cascades, the Tarnished Coast, Far Northern Shiverpeaks, blood legion homelands so and so forth. It’s bad though to pull whole expansion zones out of your trumpet hole like warcraft did, it only hurts the game in the long run.

Just to clarify a bit, as Mike said there are numerous teams beyond our Living World teams, and some of them are working on much longer term projects which we’ll go into details on much further down the road.
It’s entirely possible some of the types of content which you might traditionally find in expansions would be released through an expansion in the future for Gw2, and it’s possible we’d try something different when it comes to integrating those type of releases.
We have no final plans one way or another about expansions at this time, and certainly haven’t ruled them out, it’s something we’ll discuss more in the future.
Edited to add: Our primary focus right now is on making the core Gw2 experience as strong and compelling as possible, we’ll release a blog post later this month detailing more specifically our plans for Gw2 in the second half of 2013.
Fantastic! Though, for a living world, why isn’t there any dynamic weather? It’s all static.
Bored of back items now…given us loads recently…
How about ascended/exotic air breathers for a change?
I wish I could wear my breather on land for my warrior, all the heavy helmets are not in my taste.
However yes, ascended items should be bought with karma ranging around 100-126 thousand. Use for Laurels? Use them to get awesome armour/weapon skins and other cool things.

- Buyout ArenaNet, fire Christine Cox.
- Implement a daily quest system from renown hearts.
- Refocus combat, revamp dungeons/bosses.
- Give Josh Foreman & Colin Johanson a raise.
- Revamp of loot tables.
- Make trinkets visible as well as your secondary weapons.
- Implement underflow maps.
- Fix various race issues, remodel humans so they actually look serious rather than a silly cartoonish look. Remodel Norn, touch up on charr; make an option where you can run normally like the npcs.
- Revamp the storyline. The Asura discovered something that was supposed to remain secret and are now mysteriously dying out, Metrica Province has failed to maintain it’s structure and has collapsed into ruin, this race is now endangered and is facing extinction.
- With the aide of a powerful but yet ancient necromancer the humans were able to break free from the curse of Foefire and reclaim Ascalon with the full help of Divinity’s Reach forcing the charr back to the Blood Legion Homelands as well as the Crystal Desert and have accepted back the Flame Legion but now are facing a civil war. The Black Citadel has been salvaged for metal and is no more. Rin is in the process of being restored.
- The Pale Tree has been destroyed by Isgarren’s servants forcing the Sylvari to join forces with the Nightmare Court.
HoelBrak remains unscathed.
- Factions! World PvP is now available(with pvp servers of course), Humans/Sylvari Vs. Norn/Charr, the Asura are a neutral faction choosing whomever they wish. Also With the additional option of allowing players to join the neutral faction: The Lionguard.
- RvRvR is now combined, a super server now allows everyone to fight in one map together.
- Trahearne shows his true colours as the infamous Lich and has taken control, he has killed off the last known protectors of Tyria(excluding Primordus who was killed by the Lord of Isgarren’s Castle), all but two guardians remain(Though one is severely wounded and is on the brink of death). It is up to the players to defeat the pact and put down the corrupted Destiny’s Edge, the once heroic champions of Tyria, now undead wights. Caithe died before these events could took place.
Edit* I would also add Dynamic weathering.

I’m not sure what game she’s talking about but it sounds great! Even the quests you get when you start out in Northshire are far more superior than what we got here… Least the old ones anyway.

@Stay & Fern, No.
The loot. I miss getting items I could vendor for a decent price.
ArenaNet better finish what they started, I refuse to have an incomplete character.
Thief has the highest skill ceiling. You absolutely cannot do rotations or facerolls with this profession. Thieves have the highest risk vs. reward if you plan on doing glassy stealth builds. Thieves are squishy and require abusing one of their two survivability mechanics to even last in a fight.
Secondly, the best way to kill a (really) good thief is to play a thief and learn their stratagems (if listening to direct advice fails).
Any thief can be a stealth-humping coward. What separates them from good thieves is all dependent on how they execute and adapt. A great thief, however, will win regardless.
A good thief you say?
God, player housing…. I’ve been wanting this since release. It would be sooo cool to decorate a house with rewards from the game for completing certain things or achievements. Having it tied into crafting or your guild would be awesome as well. Hopefully they give us some sort of official declaration on what they’re up to!
Really hope it’s a karma sink really…. Lord knows I have too much of it.
- This game lacks depth, it has no means of keeping you interested, we need things like housing and artifact hunting or anything else that would kill time in a meaningful and rewarding way. Also more customization, something along the line of actual trophies, things that you could display on your character to represent your achievement.
- Professions suck, all or most of the skills are useless due to being underpowered or on a long unnecessary cool down. Professions need viable skills as well as new weapon combinations. Thief with dual swords, elementalist with scepters so on and so forth.
- Story is lacking, the lore is disappointing, game is far too bland, needs more humans. I believe this game is an alternate storyline compared to the original guild wars, I can’t wait for a guild wars sequel!
(edited by Nightarch.2943)
ArenaNet should implement a soloable option that allows you to explore, or whatever you feel like doing that the open world doesn’t really offer. This option would only be available after completing both the story and explorable paths of the five person mode.
A personal exploration mode has the potential of being something great, kill things, hunt for buried treasure, do random quests that are well thought out for npcs, and many other things as well.
Something enjoyable that has a level of depth and reward to it.

Would be nice having them account bound, then I can switch them around seeing how they just recently butchered my class build.
Extraordinary! Finally, I can spend my 2.1million karma on housing items! I think I may just stick around after all.
So I just bought a Turtle Beach headset for 60 dollars and I can gladly say that it was well worth it. I plugged them into my computer and started up Guild Wars, and oh. my. gosh. The sound was so amazing that I sat there stunned for a minute or two just listening to the sounds of the forest and the sound of the attacks/skills. This was a huge increase from my logitech headset that cost 45 dollars. What about you guys? What headsets do you prefer to use while playing Guild Wars 2 and why are they different from other headsets?
It’s a shame ArenaNet already nerfed the good audio effects. Portals, necromancer’s staff, chain swords, and so on.
2/10, my build is now obsolete.
I honestly don’t think we’ll ever see player housing. I have two million karma and not a bloody thing I can do with it. So you can see where housing would be extraordinary. Also it would be a large boost to player and event actively for dynamic events.
I find it quite ironic that this game has the most back item pieces that are 3D but yet we don’t have capes but all other mmos do and no back pieces with the only exception of LOTRO that does both quite well. @Kiri, those wings are incredibly annoying. They would be cool though if they were always idle and only moved once in awhile.
Capes though, I support them because everyone likes their own character aesthetics. Myself though, I love my mad memoirs too much to give up for a pair of silly looking wings or a batman cape.
I won’t play a human because they LOOK nothing like the ones from the Original Guild Wars. Also their one handed weapons when sheathed look completely silly… Also clipping issues.
I won’t play a thief because you can’t have an off hand sword which is ridiculous to me because they have every right.
I won’t play charr because they run on all fours, yet the npcs don’t?
Will not play a norn Because of clipping issues.
Refuse to play an asura, they’re arrogant, short, and bossy.
Will play a Largos though, because they’re awesome.
I remember actually getting loot from most mobs that I killed. Those were the days RNG & DR didn’t plague the player-base. A time when the developers actually cared about their game and players.
Great! Now if only loot actually dropped….
Just stop everything that you’re doing. Go roll a male sylvari then come back here and say how ridiculous your norn character looks while running.
1+
I believe they should remove the conversion of gold into gems and restore everything they did to nerf farming or rewards in the game. I just want to feel rewarded for the time I invest playing.
The charr are mindless beasts that need to be EXTERMINATED! It isn’t war, it’s PEST CONTROL. Anyway, Ascalon will rise again, and the proud ascalonians shall once again throw charr cubs from the towering walls of Ebonhawke!
^ What he said, last night I actually managed to down all the players while holding the crab, the result? NOTHING! Not only do you have to rely on luck, you also have to rely on it not being bugged. Truly impossible to accomplish with intelligent players. That’s another achievement ArenaNet owes me.
Oh look, another greatsword user. What’s that? He’s using a two handed sword? He must be cool! That or compensating. Save up until you’re level 80 and go full zerker like everyone else does if you so desire.
My very elegant condi mesmer says hello. ( female, staff main weapon) @ Op: do not pick GS because you think it is required, pick it only if you like it. Ultimately pick what you find most fun to play. As for the stats snd sigils you really have to decide how you want to build your character to see what would suit you best. As everyone has said, wait until you are 80- at this point you will just throw your money away. Have fun:)
Aye op, what she said. I run a S/S warrior with a hybrid build of Knight’s/Soldier’s gear, I rip things apart and take very little damage, hell; I get jumped by rapid hordes of karka and still live to tell the tale.
Also, @Rhysat; I prefer the exact opposite. I’m tired of everyone conforming to the one “Holy build”, people should do what they like, not because it’s “the right way” but rather “because it’s fun”, but he likes wielding a two hander then good for him! As long as he’s having fun that’s all that matters, after all this is a game/story not a guide to fixing a car.

I’m quite happy with the amount of updates in GW2, but I wish more of it was permanent.
We’ve been playing around so far this year with a lot of different concepts to see what works for a living world game, and see what players liked and didn’t like. Based on all of your feedback, you’ll be seeing a greater degree of permanent content built into future living world releases in 2013. And of course, some things you’ve seen before may return again, in its current form but updated like SAB or holiday festivals, or in a new form entirely….
We’ve got a few more updates coming more along the lines of what we’ve done so far in the vein of holiday festivals, but as the year progresses we’re going to layer more permanent changes and content as well with each living world release. I’ll toss a blog post up in a couple of weeks that outlines high level, where we’re taking our living world style updates specifically in the future for more clear transparency once we’ve got it all ironed out.
As always all of your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated, we’ll continue to adapt and grow this strategy and concept as we go. As we’ve said before, we’re trying something very new and different here, and in some ways we’re learning along with all of you how we make a living world style game work.
I find it rather ironic that a game with a ‘living world’ does not possess dynamic weathering like rain & fog or night terrors, don’t mind me I’m just poking fun.
This game looks extraordinary!
When does it come out?
Oh look, another greatsword user. What’s that? He’s using a two handed sword? He must be cool! That or compensating. Save up until you’re level 80 and go full zerker like everyone else does if you so desire.
Worst. Achievement. Ever.
It really is, got the crab with ten seconds remaining and BAM! Nothing. This crap needs changed.
Sounds like the hat (the one with horns), is something that will be very easy to get.
The wings, that’s what I want.
Teh… Wings are for noobs… Excluding Largos of course. It’s all about the Mad Memoirs.
“Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain… Like wind in the meadow. The days have come down in the west, behind the hills… Into shadow.”
Reaper’s Rumble & Lunatic Inquisition are the only fun PvP areas that I’ve been in.

Ironic symbolism isn’t it? The Consortium actually represents NexonNet (Greedy, gluttonous, and lustful) while the Settlers represents the players (Hobbyists, farmers, and frustrated individuals), yeah, I’d definitely side with Canach.
Mr. T can wear two amulets, why can’t we?
Lack of loot, RNG, gem store.
Looks like gw2lfg turned into 4chan. I’m ashamed of this community. Then again I am on the Tarnished Coast server and everyone apparently acts like a hamster with down syndrome so no surprises there.
They’re locked away… Protected by RNG.
Even Doctor Who is more serious than this game.
Fantastic!Fantastic!Fantastic!

I wouldn’t really consider this game to be a sequel… Just more of an alternate story, but yeah I agree, for the amount of time you invest in doing whatever it is you’re good at, you have nothing to show for it because of the RNG & poor marketing in the gem store(Town clothes? A legendaries without a back story? Really?).
@Blur, I like cloudy dark days : (, to me a rainy day is a good day compared to a sunny day being an awful day. I like the lanterns idea though! That reminds me of the weather, it is far too static for a living breathing world, an example of this would be to go over to Beetletun where it’s sunny and then head south to the Taminn Foothills where it’s raining with a dark overcast. Hence another reason why I love lotro’s environment!
On a side note, I love this thread, no one is trying to kill each other with pointless walls of text.
Neither, I prefer a revamped combat system with great rewards for time invested.
This how loot works by ArenaNet’s standards.
Invest time, kill X, Get nothing for about 7 or 9 kills, invest more time, Get nothing, Kill more of X, receive Y (a porous bone). If you’re lucky the loot gods will gift you with a rare drop. If you have magic find then you increase your chances of getting Y. Come the following day, Y get’s nerfed and then players get banned for exploiting.

@Jabronee, aww man, you have it see when it’s stormy at night, it’s extraordinary! Rain bouncing off your character, the beautiful sound effects, the heart stopping flashes, it’s just so great!
*Agreed, definitely dimmer and darker, would be neat if light sources did more along the lines of lightening up the area, not bright or anything just less dim and more colourful. Lazy sparkflies not contributing any luminescence…
