I would like to communicate with the leadership of PiNK / The Silent Council [TSC].
This was the fourth time we killed people outside our lord room, the outer keep has not been breached for 24 hours+, the inner keep has not been breached for 48 hours+
Several defenders are now standing at our waypoint, watching these TC players jump down from the terrain that runs along the edge of map from your spawn.
Please contact me via PM/ingame mail.Wow, this is a very lame tactic and needs to be addressed by AN. That’s certainly not intended by the game design.
What is lame is that Anet hasnt fixed this well known, since beta, terrain glitch. How hard is it to put up an invisible barrier?
No invisible barrier, rather a Bane of Leeching, that eats 10 character levels every time they pass through it.
That is an even better idea! Maybe on the other side you put one of those slippery slopes so they keep falling back through every time.
I watched a person on my server run up and drop three arrow carts around where you would normally put a catapult behind the door. Burning resources from the tower, and making it impossible to set up a catapult. Enemy server attacked about 5 mins later.
121130-000171 This is not an account or support issue; forum questions will be handled by the appropriate team.
Then why did you guys send my email to the support system in the first place? How do I get a response??
Your message to me said to said an email to forums@areana.net, which I did. That email was then forwarded to the NCSOFT support system which opened a ticket for me after I registered.
My ticket is still open, still no response and it has been 7 days. Aion had amazing response time, what is with this game?
SF, I am so disappointed with your performance this round, especially your offpeak crew. Even ET show more fighting spirit than you guys. When we start taking stuff at offpeak hrs last week, they will follow and push too. This round however, you guys are taking only camps and leave us to face off with BP alone.
What happen to your huge zerg?! D;
Our off-peak crew is a bunch of doors and guards, I will relay your disappointment to them.
Thank’s to all the yak’ers that entertained me this morning in your borderland, was a hoot.
I wouldn’t say this is more ele getting good, more like more ele all playing the exact same spec.
In my view no one build should be effective against all other builds in the game. The thief condition build vs the ele d/d bunker build is simply not a good match up for us, but so what?
As tough as it is for my condition build to fight a defensive build ele, they cannot kill me either. Typically the fight lasts so long we either get adds on one side or the other, or eventually they simply disengage from the fight.
I agree with this, kills me a lot. While fixing the ability to work better is an option as well. Frankly just do whatever is quickest and easiest.
I believe it is grassroots indeed. We had a couple of guilds transfer in the last two months and they can’t field more than 10 players each. So unless those guys are gods I don’t see how it could have been them making all the difference.
Are you guys just trollin? Seems like, but it is borderline. It is feasible that someone can be that naive, but every post DKz puts up being that way… starting to feel like trollin. Good trollin if that is the case, lol if it isn’t.
95% of your posts are ad hominem attacks. You fail to argue against someone’s point and call them names. Your favorite one is troll, you use that in 50% of your posts. Naive is a new one. I like the fact that you’re innovating.
Keep up the good work.
If your going to make stuff up, you should at least go with things that ‘might’ be true.
In this thread:
- 14 posts, not including this one.
- I referred to my own action as trolling in one post, I called someone on my server a troll cause he is, and I asked if you were trollin.
So really I called one person on my server a troll and I asked if you were naive or trollin. That is not really name calling or calling you a troll, but lets assume it is a nasty post like you describe out of the spirit of generosity.
I will let you dig out the calculator, but it really seems like your stats are inaccurate. Perhaps this is why you think BP off hour population hasn’t grown at all, just simple math errors.
It’s an I-win button against melee classes as Pistol/dagger-thief. Just spam it till they are dead. Pretty lame but unbeatable for non-thieves.
Using shadow strike 15-25 times to kill someone, its damage is super low, doesn’t sound like a very effective I win button to me.
Kaon, what was the nerf to the ability, how was it before?
Just looking for some ideas, I really like to try and use all the tools I have available and I feel like I under utilize this skill. Granted I never use body shot either, but I am not sure there is any helping that ability, at least for my build.
Any thoughts?

What time of day do you play? That’s sort of important. If you’ve only been playing overnight in North America then you’re just going to see TC zerging because our server is almost uncontested during those hours. FA and YB don’t have the same night population that we can front so there’s almost no need to play defense.
If you’re playing during prime time then you’ll always find people milling around and watching camps, especially when YB and FA are both at their peak (weekends mostly). When it comes to each server playing at their best, TC buckles down and does it right.
I also play almost exclusively in the Eternal Battleground so I can’t speak for borderland play.
I play all maps and a pretty wide spread of times of the day, given I work from home and my work schedule sometimes keeps me up late to deal with an issue, etc. I would say I am most often on sporadically in the hours between 6 am PST to 12am PST. Depends on the day.
To be fair you only see the zerg because it’s the zerg that knocks on your gates with the force of Hercules. You don’t see our camp defenders or our back line as often because we’re keeping you busy.
I think you are not spending enough time in your back line because there is almost never anyone back there. The only time I see anyone in the back line, is if there is a small enemy force back there and then they are zerging them down.
I am just here since saturday testing out FA as I think testing a server when it is losing is a better way to see if a server is right for you. I am not part of your ongoing server drama, but right now TC is a zerg server and they zerg harder then most.
That said most servers that are winning by a lot and control most of the map, are naturally going to be at their zergiest, in my experience. The good players are playing less and doing other things because it is boring for them. The bad, fair weather WvWers are all out in force because they think right now is an awesome time to WvW and those folks, they love the safety of zergs.
Done, thanks for the help.
My ticket was placed on: 11/29/2012 07:25 PM, so over 5 days ago, reference number is: 121130-000171
The lack of any rewards for WvW is certainly an issue. There is only one armor/jewelry set, why? Something unique for PvP would be nice, give us something to spend our badges on. Not to mention ascension level gear needs to be purchasable via badges.
On the 29th I received an email that suggested I contact the email address forums@arena.net. I complied and NCSOFT support system send back an auto setup that put the email into the support system.
I havent heard from them since. Is this normal? What is the normal time it takes to get a response? When I played Aion the response time was very fast, this seems like it is broken and no one is responding.
I have updated the ticket, still no response.
Thanks for the help.
Asura medium armor is just so, so bad. Whoever designed these armor sets had the imagination of a ping pong ball.
These posts are like throwing raw meat in a shark tank and you gain very little from them. Send a few people to each of the servers for one week and experience them first hand, then make your decision.
I personally recommend testing out a server when they are losing, not winning, if at all possible.
This, sadly, seems to be the attitude of most gamers new to this style of PvP…… There are many of us though that remember the “Realm Pride” from DAoC and carry that attitude over to this game. (10 years only Hibby, btw ^.^ for King Lug!!!)
A lot has changed since DAoC both in the gaming industry and the community of players as well.
The CW called. They want their juvenile drama back. Seriously, Some of GODS are great folks, some not so much (both those that stayed and those that left), either way you really need to take your bickering to a private forum.
Shh… I am making popcorn.
To that FA thief i just spent the last half hour 1v1ing above the south eastern supply camp in TCBL, you are by far the best 1v1 fight I’ve ever had and i was extremely sad when the people from yaks showed up and killed you, and i want you to know the YB thief came back and i caved his skull in with my hammer for you <3
i look forward to meeting you on the battlefield in the future, look out for me, because I’ll be looking out for you
Nice fighting! I knew it was going to end that way sooner or later, our fight takes way to long for it to not get interrupted. I was actually killed by TC folks, the Yak guy just downed me.
It was fun fighting those two Yak guys together, but I think we kept damaging each other with splash damage! To bad one of them force logged
At any rate see you out there. Was nice to see there are others out there that honor 1v1 enough to pull off if others add on the fight. Was common in DAoC, but here I can count the number of times on one hand.
Uncatchable is nice, but it is hardly a must have, imo. Thrill of the crime is also pretty sweet, as is bountiful theft. Really depends on the situation, if I am facing a lot of great sword face rollers I typically switch to uncatchable.
When winning is not really just about whoever has the best 24/7 population coverage then I am all for more rewards.
Hmm… I was thinking I was just having a bad jumping night, but I died to fall damage twice in a BL jump puzzle, which normally I can do all three in under 20 mins, including run time. I kept running off edges of things with my jump not happening, but I was experiencing no other signs of latency. I thought my space bar was dirty so I pulled it off and cleaned under it
I could just be having a bad jumping night, just seems odd that a bunch of people in game and now this thread all saying the same thing.
On another note, if you’ve been pushed off the ledges to your death in the EB Jump Puzzle by a tough to kill Guardian (who usually starts busting out some sweet dance moves) with spikey pauldrons, a guild shield and long black hair… sorry but I like to troll when I get bored.
I haven’t run into anyone hard to kill from your entire guild. I just assumed you guys were PvEers.
I find that very humorous because we were thinking the same thing about your group. Perhaps our better players haven’t crossed paths yet.
Don’t mistake us for another guild on BP server with nearly the same tag: [WAR] Ascension
The two dot’s above the ‘a’ is what I was using to tell the difference, is that not the case?
I have killed a bunch of you guys all in 1vX, and on saturday you had a group chasing me around the back field of EB while the rest of my server let themselves be camped. Your two thieves, which seriously need better WvW specs, would save each other by preventing me from capping, and that would last till the full group responded and I would have to laugh and move on.
That said, I was mostly following your words: sorry but I like to troll when I get bored
But both SF and HoD can most certainly bring it during peak hours and I myself have had some good WvW fun during those peak hours.
Friday night, everyone playing till they dropped, was awesome. So many great back and forth fights, epic sieges and defenses, etc. HoD still struggles population wise but always seems to show up out of nowhere to hit you where it hurts.
At what point does it become day capping? We held almost everything till around 3/4 pm yesterday.
Right now it’s
BP 152,105
SF 52,418
HoD 30,020You don’t tripple another servers score 3 days after reset with night capping. It’s actually not mathematically possible.
Off-hour capping provides more then points, it provides the ability to fully fortify everything uncontested and stacking siege, pushing the advantage far into the next day until the other servers gain critical mass to overcome the defenses and limits how far they can push in their own peak periods.
On another note, if you’ve been pushed off the ledges to your death in the EB Jump Puzzle by a tough to kill Guardian (who usually starts busting out some sweet dance moves) with spikey pauldrons, a guild shield and long black hair… sorry but I like to troll when I get bored.

Seems like a bunch of non mesmers here. The biggest issue in WvW is culling problems and thieves that exploit it. Portal is just an excuse for people to continue to hate on mes. It’s QQ like this that has crippled our class.
I love that you are commenting on other peoples ‘QQ’ while at the same time tossing in a QQ against thieves, it makes me laugh. Like mesmers do not exploit culling as much as thieves do, people are simply too busy looking for you among the clones to realize you have not appeared yet.
It amazes me how many people get defensive about these things. What’s wrong with saying we got some new people and been working on our teamwork? Why is it always one or the other?
Nothing wrong with getting more people, wish SF could get a bunch of off hour folks, nothing to get defensive about.
The thing is, when a server is winning, the other servers try to discredit it by saying it’s only because of numbers and that they have numbers only because of transfers.
In other words, you’re trying to say that the work each one of us puts into building a nice wvw community is really irrelevant and that training new commanders, teaching people about the game, having good strategy, good communication, etc etc, doesn’t make a difference. Anyone who thinking this way doesn’t know much about wvw.
I think creating the community is what brings new people to a server, and keeps people on a server. SF for example has a poor wvw community, imo, and bleeds WvW guilds as we have lost at least 3-4 in the last couple weeks, and many more before that. So clearly it is not irrelevant and is part of your success, why is that not acknowledged instead of something to be super defensive about?
The issue you have is that you want it all to be about good strategy, communication, and etc while blindly denying the population aspect. This game, more specifically the score board, is largely based around numbers, 24/7 numbers to be specific. Anyone that does not recognized the importance of population, the value of full around the clock coverage and their capacity to earn huge points and upgrade everything uncontested, really does not know anything about wvw.
This is my camp sorrows furnace and you cant have it!
Seems it would be more sporting of you to let us have it. You get to take it all back in a couple hours when we go to bed, think of it as a loan.
really what has scaled this matchup was the DKz who stayed up all night and upgraded everything then waited until the day crew logged in during the afternoon before any of us went to bed, it completely demoralized any SF from wanting to play, especially after not being able to cap lowlands back, im sorry if we broke ur guys’ back
u guys gave us some stressful times until the other commanders log in i tell u…SO stressful of a night/morning lol, i enjoyed it very much guys im glad most ppl here have alot better attitude then in our GOM AR matchup
Self congratulatory posts are always the best.
You would prefer a self deprecatory post?
Clearly you missed the ‘always the best’ part.

When in reality, the bottom 2 working together is probably the only thing that would now produce an actual competitive 3 way match.
That is why it is a three way match, but for some reason in this game it doesn’t seem to happen. In DAoC there were official and unofficial alliances all the time.
It amazes me how many people get defensive about these things. What’s wrong with saying we got some new people and been working on our teamwork? Why is it always one or the other?

Assume we have learned to work together since our last match up. The last time we played you, most of us were noobs and had no idea what we were doing, and no cohesion. It’s a whole new ballgame now.
Ahh, the old ‘we really improved’ angle, I am sure that is it.
Do you know what their reasoning behind these posts of accusation is? They believe BP got stronger by getting transfers and that if they make BP look bad we’ll not get anymore transfers and go back to the ranking we “deserve”.
Not that I care, but BP certainly has a much larger off-hour presence then it did when we last met in a match-up. So I would assume that you have gotten transfers.
Henge will put up a good fight, the best fight it’s put up since TA left us to our slow and painful decline in the rankings! And to those Borlis Pass people who had to get past my arrow cart in the jumping puzzle well done, I honestly didn’t think you could jump all the way to me with an arrow cart on you!
Guess we know which server is the new AR for this week.
As for the black screening, I can believe it. WvW seems buggy as hell. Can’t keep a stable connection, but anywhere else in the game I’m fine. No idea what is going on.
You guys have to forgive this guy, and his insults. He doesn’t know, nor understand the state of the game, and how Henge of Denravi, and the Titan Alliance owned every server pre-release, and when queue times got to 4-7 hours, people left Henge of Denravi in mass because of it, and because of other issues.
He thinks you’re making excuses, without knowing the reality of the situation.
I just assumed the AR comment was in regards to the arrow cart in the jump puzzle, not an invitation to tell the story of HoD.

I think at the moment it is likely not an issue, but I think that is mostly because most Ele’s are playing like mages and love to plink from range and behind walls. If you were to get a bunch of d/d ele’s popping out to AoE siege with almost no chance of death, you might hear more complaints.
Please tell what do you do with your mesmer when ALL the enemy server is on walls or behind it with sieges that is so much fun besides auto attacking a gate. Mesmer is still fun to play in a open field fight, but during sieges theres not much i see them doing. what do you want to do? throw chaos storm on friendlys and say its fun?
As a thief I pull out my ranged weapon and auto attack the door while waiting to get inside. Is that somehow different than what you are doing as a mesmer?
Someone from Yak’s Bend complaining about zerging…. that’s ironic.
Ultimately who cares? They lost the fight regardless if they force log or get stomped, all I lose is a kill credit and a chance at a badge. I care little about either, so if they force log it just saves me the effort of stomping.
I think the question is impossible to answer without more information, and even then a lot of it comes down to personal preference more then one thing being specifically more effective then others.
I love camping of the jump puzzle, both of me and by me, but I will admit I have never understood the logic behind using siege above the dome. I like fighting people, not shooting them in a barrel. Bad’s will be bad’s I guess.
ET doesn’t even have bots in cursed shores anymore, every camp is always contested, and you are almost always alone in most map areas (even lions arch is a ghost town). Prime-time Friday and Saturday evening I was one of 7 people in the cursed shores area. The group events there are never done and arahs is never open due to no one being around. Heck, it takes several hours to get groups to do fractals (or any other dungeon), unless you are in one of the very few remaining guilds.
This matchup has nothing to do with skill level, it’s numbers plain and simple. You normally have more people rez camping us (with siege…lol) than we can muster if we brought everyone from PvE and PvP together out there.
Not to say that the matchup is not all numbers, because there is no question it is, but your description of PvE land is the same for SF and I assume most servers, and is not an indication of ET’s population. They put in anti-botting code that has all but removed them from the game until they find a work around for it, cursed shore is more or less empty as folks are doing fractals. If you are having a hard time finding a fractals group, just join the fractals guild of your applicable rank, cross server grouping for the win.
My main concern with the thief is with WvW, since that’s what I play 90% of the time. The thief is quite effective in WvW, we do good AOE damage, but it’s also a little on the boring side. As someone else said, 80% of the time we’re just spamming cluster bomb and dodging. And a good chunk of the remaining 20% is using daggerstorm when it’s off cooldown. It’s effective, but it’s incredibly dull. Sure, you can try and play other weapon sets in WvW, but nothing is even close to as effective as shortbow.
I’m not sure what the solution to this is. It’s the innate flaw of having an initiative based system that there’s going to be one skill that trumps all others for every situation. If there was some more synergy in there somewhere, or something that encouraged you to use your utilities/weapon skills in some kind of order, it would probably be more entertaining, but for now it’s basically hit 2, wait for the bomb to land, dodge backwards when low on health and repeat.
While your description of activity is without question boring, it is only that way because that is what you choose to spend your time doing. There are many other activities in WvW that thieves excel at and if people didnt try and make the thief into a plinking class they wouldnt be so bored. Roll a ranger if you just want to stand back shooting stuff.
Firstly I am being forced to play WvW by Anet to get Badges of Honor for any legendary and trying to do it questing in WvW is insane because of the extremely low drop rate. I thought Anet was about balance.
I am forced to PvE a hell of a lot more for my legendary then you are forced to WvW so if you really want balance maybe more of the legendary requirements should be WvW only.
