somone told me to do this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WU7EniFrNb4
its helpet but still alittle lagy for once a while but it k only in wvw tons of lags
Tried, no difference.
I am on a 100mbps connection, and the Fractals are currently completely unplayable. I miss attacks that never existed, I backtrail, I suddenly appear having fallen off ledges, the game hiccups constantly and people teleport all over my screen. This is completely unacceptable. Server: Gandara
Same issues for me. Connection is 100/10 optical fibre. Ping to game servers looks decent when checking through resource monitor in Windows 7.
I originally wanted to play a ranger, but thief is my main because it acts more like the petless skirmisher I wanted to play. I level my ranger, mostly through the daily, but that’s all I do with it these days.
And I say, SoH needs to be at least 25% passive speed increase, if not 30%. Don’t worry about potential thief whining, its unfounded.
Rangers asking for less than 25% are selling yourselves short. Maybe you think Anet is more likely to give the smaller increase, but if they do, you’ll likely never get more. Ask for it all up front – don’t get into this beat down attitude asking for scraps from Anet.
25% is totally deserved. Thieves get everything better in the comparable skill categories. The two speed signets, obviousy. Thief SB is vastly better than Ranger SB (and thieves get extra mobility with #5). Sword #2 as both a gap closer and gap creator works vastly better on thieves. Roll for Initiative is vastly better than Lightning Reflexes, etc, etc.
Don’t settle for less, demand 25% speed, heck demand 30% (or at least maybe a extra burst effect with 25%).
I like this guy.
Better test:
Let a pet kill a heavy golem, time it from the time its first attack lands. Specc for pet damage.
Then you go and kill the same golem, time that. Specc for max damage.
Compare the difference in time between the two of you.
This is imo the biggest shortcoming of spvp in this game, 80% or more of the matches have uneven numbers between the two teams.
Still striving for perfection, Anet? You need to work harder!
I have won 2 vs 1 games numerous times.
Whats the point? the point is to learn to win those 2 vs 1’s.
1 vs 4 is where it really gets challenging.
God has spoken.
I agree that Quickness stomp is way too strong. Especially Rangers with on-demand Quickness on pet swap are god stompers. That probably makes up for being the most underpowered class in the game currently.
Lol, what a joke. Quickness stomping makes up for all the shortcomings of our class? Lol! Just lol!
Just lost a game due to that freakin skill not working, my pet just stood next to me doin nothing. It’s getting beyond frustrating all our broken/unbalanced skills and traits.
Get rid of it. Simple diablo clone stat.
Sweet spots for BM tree would imho be:
- 5 (for quickness on pet swap)
or
- 15 (for shorter cd on petswap)
or
- 30 (for natural healing trait if you want to build a strong pet, combined with signet of the wild, compassion training, pet’s prowess and carnivorous appetite)
Running with 30 BM do make for a rather major difference in pet survivability.
The list of bugs, complaints and general unhappiness with the Ranger class is entirely fixable. You don’t have to roll out 3 “fixes” at a time to do it either. Here is a list of things that can be implemented tomorrow that would turn this class on its head and bring joy to those that have long since shelved their Rangers.
TRAPS-
-Make traps enlarged by default. There is no reason to have to use a passive ability for thisyes
-Double the trap effectiveness by default (CC length and condition)
no
-Significantly (100%) increase the damage dealt by traps (condition damage)
maybe
ABILITIES
-Make hide in plain sight an actual ability and not a passive ability. Give it a 10 min cooldown.no, would make it useless with a cooldown of 10 minutes, you got to be kidding with this suggestion, right?
-Give Rangers access to control ALL of the pet abilities
maybe
PET
-Pet AOE taunt for PVE and make them actually hold aggroaggro in Guild Wars isn’t equal to how it works in other games, leave it alone tyvm
-Get rid of half of the useless pets or make the useless pets usable (aka the pig and such)
agree, they need fixing
-Give a pet the ability to detect stealth
maybe
-LET US STOW THE PET
-Make the pet stay on passiveGeneral Ability
-Increase the shot distance of the longbow by 10% by defaultagree, but increase default distance even further
-Make “Rampage As One” ignore conditions as well as CC
maybe, would probably make it op though
And finally!
DPS-
-Increase the general DPS by Rangers (off the top) by 25-30% and scale it accordingly with strength. The precision crit percentage should be adjusted to match the scale. Also the pets would need a significant increase to match this.not sure we really need a dps increase, IF pets get fixed
Our development team reviews play input on a regular basis. They are aware of this suggestion, but have not yet reached a decision on what changes, if any, they will make to targeting.
There is a lot going on right now with the upcoming event, but after that, the team will take a look at a lot of different game elements, and may make some changes in the future.
Sorry I don’t have more specific information, but you can be sure this is not being ignored or rejected without due consideration.
Thanks for understanding.
Just a small, humble request:
More focus on fixing bugs and balancing, less focus on bringing in new content to a game that needs fixing to its core mechanics.
There are many, many people that have huge issues with lag. You can try and troubleshoot on your part, but this is a capacity issue @ Arena Net (and/or faulty servers/accounts), and nothing we can really do anything about. This used to happen from time to time in GW1, and it’s happening all over again for some of us in this game.
The lack of at least one official response to all the lag issues people are experiencing is a bit concerning.
The cooldown is rather long I agree, and this comes from a BM specced ranger that works hard to keep the pets alive and useful – always!
45 seconds max untraited, 30 seconds max traited.
If you want to toggle on a hard mode, asking for an option to be downleveled 5-10 levels more than normal is the way to go.
Yes, considering how the game works, this would probably be the best way implementing such a request.
In general, I think gw2 lacks considerably when it comes to skills, compared to its predecessor. It’s a different game of course, but build diversity suffers a lot when there are so few to choose from. Traits somewhat compensates for this, and to some extent equipped effect of items, but still, it’s a lot of same old same old.
The long cooldown on many skills is another issue, at least in pve. Four minutes cooldown is a very long time in a fast paced action based game. For balancing reasons in pvp, I can understand you don’t want to touch this too much – yet.
For pve though, I feel that shortening the cd by a large amount on many skills would allow for more fun – you’d get to use more abilities, more often, and not only spamming the same weapon skills over and over again.
Finally, I would love to be able to setup a different trait-set for wvw as well. Creating a build for pve is rather different from a build suitable for pvp, at least for me, coming from the spvp side of things. Actually, being able to save a number of builds, and being able to swap between them easier would again allow for more fun in this game imho.
Thanks for reading!

Also, when placing the mouse cursor on a backpack, highlight the area of that backpack when using compact view.
God, I just didn’t record it now in WvW because I forgot but I was getting like a 4 second delay making my self VERY useless… There was once that I was alive, no one was around then I suddenly died with no people around me, 4-5 seconds later a bunch of red people were over me out of nowhere (no they didn’t cloack nor teleport, they were there I just couldn’t see them because of the lag…)
I’ve had up to 20-30 seconds of delay. Lacking response from ANet on the lag issues points to peformance issues on their part.
Agree, not so much for performance issues, but for the fact that it can be very hard to see wth is actually going on sometimes!
I see this problem all the time in a many online games, with the culprit usually the isp throttling traffic to and from the game servers.
Simple way to check is to download a tunnelling client, I recommend pingzapper atm they I have a 1 hour trial. If you have no problems with latency while this is running in game ( and 9/10 this will be so) then its definitely your isp shaping your gaming traffic.
Although they may say they dont throttle they do.
Anyways try this and hope it solves your problem.
Not very likely, happening to too many people fram all over the world, with different ISPs, and also started to happen at aprox. the same time for all of us.
Also, the game could run just fine sometimes, if this was a ISP throttling issue, we’d see it all the time, so no, that’s not what’s happening.

I see I’m not alone when it comes to lag, and it’s all over the place, not just where a major event takes place, but in other zones as well.
Strange thing is not everyone seems to be affected by it, so I wonder what’s up with this really. Haven’t experienced these issues before this weekend that I can remember.
I think I’m gonna give fraps a shot and create a small movie of this, hopefully showing better whats really going on.
Please throw us a bone here on how to troubleshoot this issue – it’s next to unplayable in many zones right now for some of us
Ran some tests in mists, and for me, when trying this trait with the lynx on the heavy armor target dummies, this trait do indeed work and grants a 30% bonus to critical damage.
The pet scored around 1600-1700 as highest hit without the trait, and up to roughly 2200 damage with the trait.
Yeah, good find. I imagine there are lots and lots of these types of bugs still around, that we hardly even think about unless putting stuff to the test like you did here.
Will head out and run some tests myself.
Let’s just say our devs have lots of stuff to fix. Let’s just hope the focus more on fixing bugs than putting out new content for a while, but I’m guessing they’re working hard right now on x-mas content.
Increasing rangers ability to do burst damage is not the solution. Toning down other classes (in many cases rather insane) burst damage would be the better solution. Fights lasting 3-4 seconds aren’t very exciting imho.
Sending a pet to attack by using its F2 ability will make my ranger start attacking the target as well. Please fix this.
Sending a pet to attack by using its F2 ability will make my ranger attack the target as well. Please fix this.
Checking connections on gw2.exe in resource monitor, it seems this isn’t an issue with ping, since as far as I have been able to see, ping is rather stable.
The lag I’m experiencing can sometimes manifest itself like freeze-lag for more than 20 seconds when I can run around, but mobs and everything around me are frozen.
Still major lagging issues all over the place, not just in dungeons. Anyway for us to check the ping to your servers?
I’ve had this as my elite recently when running dungeons. It seems to heal just fine, but when I try reviving members of my group with it, it simply doesn’t work?
I can place the spirit right next to their bodies, but when I activate its secondary effect, nothing happens – it doesn’t seem to revive anyone, unless ofc that takes a long time so that’s why it seems it doesn’t work?
Care to share your impressions on the mechanics of this spirit?
the funny thing is that 3 other members did not lag at all, so I kind of wonder does the server lag only affect certain accounts and not others?
/confirmed
I don’t normally lag, and from the tests I can do on my part, my connection seems fine otherwise (optical fibre 100 mbit).
I’ve experienced freeze lags of +10 seconds, and major rubberbanding, yet others in the group have had no issues.
I’ve seen this happen in dungeons as well as spvp.
I would like to see them include an options setting for those who are colorblind that would change the colors of certain affects in the game to help them out.
Great suggestion.
Good suggestion. Actually, I’d like to take that one step further – allowing players to tone down effects in general in this game.
You don’t have to be colorblind to have a real hard time during many, many encounters to actually see what’s going on with so many effects going at the same time.
For example, as a ranger with a shortbow, I try my best to always flank opponents. Sometimes that’s more or less impossible due to the effects cluttering the view, making it next to impossible to actually see the mob we’re fighting.
I understand you want to make a pretty game with lots of cool stuff, but more isn’t always better you know.
…there are uneven numbers in spvp between the teams. In gw1, random arena were rarely a problem with uneven numbers. In this game, that’s normal it seems. 2vs3, 4vs5 and so on.
I’m not sure wheter there’s a big penalty implemented for leaving the game during a match, if not – implement just that.
Secondly, the games shouldn’t start until there are even numbers on both teams. TY!
- Register hit from pets at animation’s start, not animation’s end.
This!
This change alone would most likely be a major improvement to begin with. Together with some form of dodge-mechanic when calling your pet back, and a built in improved movement speed, would most likely be a very good start.
I really like the suggestions put forward in this thread – let’s just hope the devs see it and at least consider some of them!
:)
Keeping silent about it long enough hoping we will forget seems to be the strategy!
This happens rather frequently in the new dungeon, please implement something so that the person that gets kicked can rejoin his/her former team, this is most annoying.
Well, somehow, somewhere, I must’ve passed through a whole in the world in this dungeon, and couldn’t find my way back into the actual dungeon. I could see right through the walls, watching my teammates fighting the boss.
You might want to take a look at this.
Didn’t find a thread like this one, so here goes:
I thought we could start a thread, for laughs, on some really crazy and useless builds. Please use the build editor on this site:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
Here’s a nice ranger build to start with, using all skills and traits ofc.
I posted a similar idea in another thread here, that pets should at the very least dodge when you call them back, preferably doubledodge. That would be a decent start, but more needs to be done.
He is very small tip ANet. Get some good players that know each class and see if they would like to be a class leader. They can rely important fixes to the dev team.
That worked decently in VG, but wasn’t perfect due to some class-leads with big egos, not listening to other players but pushing forward their own agenda.
I think it’s better to listen to all players, and let the forum visitors consolidate the main issues and give their best suggestions on what to do about those issues.
Ok after some testing, it seems that when I put down healing spring and shoot through it I do not get any regen, and nor does anyone in the projectiles path.
How does it work?
Yes it does work, but remember, if using autoattack on your shortbow, there’s only a 20% chance to actually trigger the effect (which is a very low chance).
When it triggers, it applies regen to friendlies in its path, not to yourself.
-Spirit effect chance reduced to 15% base.
-Greatsword and longbow damage reduced by 5%
-Pet AI “improved”- sword autoattack tooltip changed to properly reflect not being able to dodge while attacking.
- “Guard” now no longer gives your pets temporary stealth
- the f1 key has been removed. Now to attack a specific target with your pet you must use “sick ’em”
- “sick ’em” no longer gives swiftness and might to your pet
- Signet of stone, signet of the wild cooldown increased by 20%.
Rofl! Gawd, I laughed so hard reading these – thanks guys!
Guys, Rangers are fine! Watch this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ru_rXq2LYg0#!
Again, Rangers are fine…..oh wait :-(
Actually, the whole issue here is really not ranger dps, or burst damage, but rather that Anet allows burst damage of this magnitude in the first place.
Pvp should never be about one shotting ppl, that has never lead to any good in any game. Pvp should be about outsmarting your opponent, not having abilities that are more or less “1-key-mashing-to-win”.
I can honestly not believe the number of mistakes introduced in this game, mistakes that I recognise all to well from other class based games, be it mmo or some other genre. Considering they implemented pvp in GW1 almost to perfection for a class based games, it feels they’ve had lots of ‘outside’ influence this time around, since clearly this could not have been their intention from the get go?
Stealth classes will always introduce many hard to fix op scenarios, the fact that they actually introduced the mechanic in this game seems like they were more interested in beating wow than to maintain and improve their own franchise.
Agility training doesn’t give your pet 30% speed increase in the first place – it’s bugged, which many rangers don’t know. It’s more like 14% speed increase, which makes this trait useless in it’s current implementation.
I made a support for this suggestion in one of the suggestion post, but the thieves bashed it with thei great might and superiority ahahhaha,
what my suggestion went is, give our shouts the ability to detect stealth, so whenever we use shout the pet would cast an aura around itself for 1 sec 1200 radius to detect hiddden enemies
the suggestion is a trait ability in the beastmastery trait line
Not good enough. The stealth and escape mechanics in GW2 are both rather op right now, and thieves (and to some extent mesmers) have both. There should be ways to counter that.
I like the idea of pets (all of them) being able to, in some way, track down hidden enemies. Well, at least we can dream.
I hope they do fix the pets. It just reminds me of how a beastmaster was never really viable in GW1 because of clunky pet mechanics.
Oh, you’re sooo wrong with that statement!
I didn’t really mean my post as a knock to the idea of pets, I just hate to see a class that suffers because of an NPC that your sort of forced to drag around.
Agree here though, but the fix isn’t the removal of our pets, the fix is to fix pet issues. Impossible? Hardly!
I agree. My pet very rarely lands any attacks on enemies in spvp, and whenever I meet another ranger, I can safely ignore his/her pet since it’s so easy to just sidestep to avoid it completely, I don’t even have to dodge.
For sure, Anet has some serious fixing to do to our class.
