Precursor from new reward system?

Colin said this ‘We are however working on expanding reward systems to make them more re-rewarding across all parts of the game, making the open world more rewarding, and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.’ Well hopes are still up.

well the achievement point system would certainly fall under the category of “new reward systems” but systems WAS plural so it might not be that particular system.

Now if it was, you’d have to be really careful when deciding how long it’s going to take someone to acquire a precursor.

There’s people out there right now who used real money to buy gems, converted them to gold and simply bought their precursor. That’s whatever, that’s on them. That’s money they chose to spend at that time, same as any other item for sale in this world.

But then you have people who actually took the time and ground their flippin butts off to earn what they earned. If people started getting precursors from simple dailies and monthlies, you’ll alienate those people who actually spent the time (probably not having fun doing it) to get what they got. They won’t feel special.

So if it were up to me, the achievement token amount required for a precursor would be equal to a year’s worth of work and no less. 365 days.

A year is plenty of time for many things:

-a person who has a legendary can still enjoy the prestige of owning one
-The above also speaks for the person who’s very close and needs a few more days of work
-players may get sidetracked, they might not get their dailies or monthlies done when they’d like to. This is natural. It’ll differentiate the time it takes to acquire a precursor among players. Legendaries won’t pop up all over the place.

I feel that would be the best way to include a precursor in the achievement system. It’s not giving them away or making them too far out of reach. It’s a good balance between the hardcore, who will do what they need to do every day and the casual, who will do what they want and still feel like they’re making progress towards something.

A year is a long time but I feel like knowing what it takes to achieve something is alot better than wondering if the RNG gods like you or how long it’s going to take to raise 500+ gold.

It’s a good settlement

January monthly achievement, are you serious?

I don’t have to read all 5 pages of this thread to know that there’s a large number of people out there who don’t know how to use google.

Seriously, I just cranked out the last 15 i needed in an hour late last night.

Google the full list of JPs and go down the line. If you’re like me, you’ll simply use it to find em but not to complete them (cuz that’s where the fun is).

Seriously, why is this thread so long?

I love this idea

But I do have 2 questions

1. Will there be a difference in rewards between achievements and multi-tiered achievements?
2. How will you reward players who already have upwards of 3k achievement points? I know some folks who have nearly every jumping puzzle completed.

If you honestly don’t know yet how rewards will be distributed, just say that.

It’s a lot better than, “we’re working on it.” Lol
Thanks for the coming improvements!

^see, it pays out just as much as it doesn’t

I think that knowledge combined with the fact that each try is independent of the other should make more people want to try the MF. You just have to be smart with your money.

For example, I’m using it to slowly make money. In my case, ive been getting shaman etched shields. Depending on the stats, they can sell for 17g. I got one last night so now the threshold that I won’t cross is 110g instead of 100. If I get another, it’ll be 120 and so on.

Zhaitan is made up of parts of either dragons.

They are either parts we can see (heads, multiple wings or tails, scraggly looking skin) or they are made up of parts we can’t see.

Think about it, how stupid would the following exchange sound:

“So here is Zhaitan, our Elder Dragon of Undeath. A while back one of our artists came up with this great concept art of him, the big feature being the fact that he is composed of other dragons. We definitely knew it’d be a challenge to model.”

“Wow cool! He looks awesome! Look at all the heads! He’s got like 14 wings! I feel bad for those other dragons.”

“What other dragons?”

“The ones he’s made up of.”

“No, that in-game model there? He’s not made up of other dragons. he just looks like it.”

“Wait….what?”

“Yeah, we decided not to go with that idea but we kept the initial design.”

“So he just looks like he’s made up of other dragons?”

“Yep.”

“So why does he have all those heads?”

“Those are tendrils.”

“They look like heads.”

“Tendrils.”

“Well in that case, why are they protruding from his mouth and not say, all over his body?”

“It looked cooler.”

“So what about those hundreds of thousands of players who think he’s made up of other dragons?”

“We figured they’d understand he’s not when they looked at him.”

“Even though it’s an almost exact, albeit slightly modified, replica of that concept art you mentioned….”

“Yes.”

At any rate Zhaitan IS made up of other dragons. The official wiki says so in the notes and it’s also mentioned in the book that comes with the collector’s edition. It’s the reason he was so hard to model for them. Plus, look at his mouth. lol

1) Don’t trust wiki’s wording exactly. Unless it’s a verbatim copy, it’s fan-made paraphrasing of actual lore, in which there can be misconceptions made.

2) “Kekai Kotaki drew an incredible dragon concept for Zhaitan where the dragon itself was composed of dragons. Where its mouth would be, there’s just more dragons.” – key thing to note: concept art This is the concept art in question, and this is his final model. While very similar, take note of the skin – in the concept art, you have hundreds of dragons meshed together. In the final version, you don’t. Yes, there are several dozen dragon heads, but that doesn’t make much. It’s like saying the creatures from the Alien movie series are multiple aliens because it has a “head” within its mouth (the tongue thing).

While entirely possible to be made out of multiple dragons, and that’s what the concept art was, the final version doesn’t look as such – just a dragon with several dozen heads, and eight or so wings (as opposed to 2), and three tails. If Zhaitan was actually several dragons meshed together, then where are all the other legs?. Hell, Zhaitan himself doesn’t have legs (or any kind of lower body except for the tail, for that matter).

While the concept of a dragon made out of dragons is cool, it doesn’t seem that’s what Zhaitan really is, and he just looks like such.

If he really was made out of many dragons, the laser wouldn’t have been so effective – it would have just separated several dragons from him.

3) How the hell do you get genie, especially from that interview?

yeah someone in another thread disproved my Joko theory when i brought it up. Zhaitan’s forces actually waged war along the Northern Elonian border which, aside from his navy, kept everyone out of Elona.

That someone was me, and I disproved it in this thread to – you just ignored it completely in my earlier post.

Guys remember one thing if Zhaitan appears again then we have Trahearne accompaning us while we fight him.

Trahearne mentions how he intends to lead the Pact into fighting five impossible victories (this is before Zhaitan’s defeat).

So he’ll be back for Jormag and the others.

The reason why he wasn’t there for the fight with Zhaitan was because the ritual to cleanse Orr took a lot out of him and he was still busy cleansing Orr afterwards.

And apparently the attack on Zhaitan was the Commander’s plan. lol

The genie thing was a joke. Didn’t expect you to take it seriously.

The concept art you provided and the in-game screen can’t be looked at because it’s two different angles. We can’t see his chest, mainly. It’s common knowledge that he’s made up of other dragons anyway. Just because of that, doesn’t mean he utilized the legs and such. Parts, is the key word here. It’s pretty obvious. Context clues in the book tells us that it’s the model they went with, thus why it was so hard to create.

He’s made up of parts of other dragons, hence the multiple heads, wings and tails and the strange positioning of his arms on his body. It doesn’t have to be whole dragons. That’d be stupid and impractical to an elder dragon who would only take what he needs.
Wings for flight, tails for mobility and heads for power and intimidation.
Apparently he doesn’t need legs. lol

Just look at this photo. Does that look like the result of something natural to you? lol

Better to absorb what he needs: Wings for flight, tails for mobility, and heads……well for power and intimidation. lol

And yes I did realize it was you that disproved my joko theory and I didn’t ignore it. I won’t always see things in the order they get posted on multiple threads so if I formulated the theory just after you disproved it in another thread, it’s because I didn’t read what you said yet. Ignoring it would’ve been not correcting myself at all….which I did. Soon as I saw it.

Then again, I got two legendaries and had Dusk drop for me.

In not using rares for the simple fact that its not just a precursor you’re gambling for, but an exotic in and of itself. Lol

Don’t get your hopes up, OP…. I tried to work with the Mystic Toilet the way you did too, but after reforging 256 l75+ exotic shortbows, I’m STILL left with NO PRECURSOR. I’ve stopped at that point, as it’s just stupid. (and you lose gold rapidly with doing it with ShortBows) Currently I’m prettymuch kittened, cause I have everything except the freaking precursor and I’m at the point of putting the game down because of this. (No, I’m not exaggerating…) And the current price of The Lover on TP just makes me want to throw up (300g+ atm)

No offense to you or how you did it, but I’m not doing it in a way that causes me to lose gold. Never going below 100.

In other words if I can’t afford to try on a certain day than I won’t. My guild does dungeons a lot so lets say I can afford 2 (which is probably the case today) then Ill buy the other two with tokens.

Of course it does. It’s random yes, but if you keep trying than your chances of that “random” being the one you want increases. If you want evidence of that fact then just look at the alternative which is not trying and receiving….nothing.

You have to be careful of how you say stuff, with probability/statistics. Your chance of getting a precursor on your 1000th try is no different than your chance of getting it on the 2nd try.

However, statistically speaking, you have a better chance of already obtaining the precursor by the 1000th try than on the 2nd try. Which I believe is what you’re trying to say. People are just reading it the first way.

Yeah, that’s exactly eat I’m trying to say

The only thing holding people back is their own impatience and feeling of being robbed but if you do it day by day and not be an idiot with your gold, then by the time you have all other mats you’ll probably have the precursor.

The only real robbery here is the TP prices. I bet we’d see a lot more precursors on their if everyone would just get probability and chance out of their head and use the Mystic forge in a smart way.

if i was you i wouldnt waste your time trying to get legandary precursor using Mystic Forge. You vs RNG. RNG always wins.

i’m inclined to disagree.

While you have no real control, doing it more and more will ONLY increase your chances. The trick is balancing yourself out financially so you don’t lose everything which means not allowing yourself to go below a certain amount if and when you buy the exos to toss in.

On a side note, me and guildee were farming for onyx lodestones the other night.

Between us we found 5 (with me making enough money off loot to buy a 6th) as well as 9 rares.

It was a very lucrative night and proved that RNG does not always win.

Patience does.

Getting a prec after 1000th try is not winning at all. Just calculate the cost and time req for 4000 exos/rares. I feel like I’m robbed instead of feeling lucky.

Why do you think I’m telling people not to spend more than they can make back in a days worth of basic gameplay?

Getting it on the 1000th sucks, but its still winning if you patient and smart with your gold.

Don’t waste your time on legendaries people…

RNG is RNG and his luck is not representative of the luck of others.

Prime example. A player read a thread that I had made, decided to do what I was doing and got his precursor on the first try.

That said, the money he spent buying and/or crafting all those greatswords combined could’ve probably allowed him to simply buy his precursor.

All those greatswords broken down into ectos and then sold?

Guys remember one thing if Zhaitan appears again then we have Trahearne accompaning us while we fight him. I agree that the fight was terrible but I rather them work on making the next one good instead of brining Zhaitan back and after that we wonder everytime we kill an Elder Dragon if we they are really dead. Also who here would actually want to fight more Risen.

oh yeah i totally agree. If Zhaitan does return I’d rather have it happen later on down the line to avoid repetitiveness.

People for the most part speculate that Jormag will be next due to his current influence on the world but if you think about it, proof of his influence is no more apparent to us than Kralkatorrik’s. All you have to do is take a stroll along the Brand to see that he’s just as influential to the players as a giant tooth hanging in the Great Lodge is. lol

Plus I think it’d be refreshing to open up the deserts of Elona rather than give us more snow maps via the opening of the Far Shiverpeaks (though of course it’s not limited to just that area).

If you look at it logically from a continuity standpoint, it only makes sense to go directly south into the desert since now that Zhaitan is “dead”, passage is no longer blocked.

Plus, I think it’d be nice to actually not deal with an elder dragon again right away and instead we have to deal with Palawa Joko, who would probably want to take advantage of the current shift in the undead power train, now that his forces are no longer occupied with Zhaitan’s along the border (assuming that without leadership, Joko’s forces eventually steamrolled the risen).

I for one think it would be refreshing if the Elder Dragons took a back seat so that Anet could clear up some old lore. However I do still want Zhaitan to make a return.

Perhaps a return made possible somehow through the defeat/influence of Joko?

Who knows? lol

I hope Zhaitan isn't dead

in Lore

Posted by: Oreoz.2573

Oreoz.2573

I highly doubt that Joko would consent to becoming Zhaitan’s Champion, simply based on what we know of him from GW1. He’s immensely prideful and doesn’t like being inferior to anyone, which suggests that unless Zhaitan was able to physically/mentally bend Joko to his will, Joko would never consent to allowing Zhaitan to rule over him. It COULD happen, but given that Joko’s Bone Palace is far, far away from the sea coast, it’s not likely that Zhaitan’s influence could reach that far.

I do think it’s more feasible that Zhaitan could make a return one day, however. If he is truly a physical manifestation of an innate force in the world, all he needs is time. Eventually, death (or undeath) will build up to a level high enough for him to regain consciousness, form a new body, and rise to menace the world again.

yeah someone in another thread disproved my Joko theory when i brought it up. Zhaitan’s forces actually waged war along the Northern Elonian border which, aside from his navy, kept everyone out of Elona.

That northern portion is where Joko’s Bone Palace sits, overlooking the desolation so those are definitely his forces fighting along the border screaming “STOP BLOCKING THE DOOR!” lol

I like the theory of Zhaitan being the physical manifestation of undeath. While I can’t say anymore that he and Joko are bros, I’ll bet that if Zhaitan returns, Joko will be right in the middle of it whether he wants to be or not. lol

@Konig Des Todes.2086

Lolz, I WILL be picky.

As far as their consummation of the world, yeah I can agree with that. If I recall it was Glint who sheltered the races during that time, yes? I could be wrong. Just spent 20 minutes trying to find where I read that. lol

And yeah admittedly you do hear a thud. Just can’t tell what comes after. Could you imagine a risen just chilling out then next thing he knows his master comes crashing down and sort of bounces off the rock and into the water? lol Like, some stupid risen farmer or something. haha

At any rate Zhaitan IS made up of other dragons. The official wiki says so in the notes and it’s also mentioned in the book that comes with the collector’s edition. It’s the reason he was so hard to model for them. Plus, look at his mouth. lol

And in an interview with Guildmag prior to release, Jeff Grubb did say this:

“Actually, no. When the humans built Orr, they knew it for an extremely magical place but did not know the origin of that magic. (The asura made a similar mistake with their Central Transfer Chamber, which they parked right over Primordus.) If the human gods knew of what slumbered beneath the world, they said nothing. The Tome of Rubicon, from among the dwarves, held some legends that came down of their battle with the Great Destroyer, which was merely a herald of Primordus.”

Full interview: http://www.guildmag.com/guildmag-special-zhaitans-secrets

SO THE ELDER DRAGONS ARE CLEARLY GENIES

Bascially what I’m saying is that if you take into account the unclear nature of his “fall”, the decision of Anet to remove his corpse and the fact that he is very much so a genie (lolz), I have a strong feeling he’ll return.

And now i’ll go watch aladdin.

MF Precursor Rares or Exotics?

in Crafting

Posted by: Oreoz.2573

Oreoz.2573

This is what I’ve been doing.

I’m going for the shield. I only buy exotics off the TP to throw in the MF (as exotics guarantee exotics) and 4 of the cheapest level 70 exo shields cost just over 3g, which isn’t that much (not so for all level 70 exo weapons, just my case).

So I’ll try 2 or 3 times a day. If it doesn’t work out, my returns net me back at least half of what I spent while I make back the other half naturally playing the game.

You NEVER NEVER want to exert yourself financially to the point where you can’t recover. That’s the biggest mistake people make with the mystic forge. They think that if they spend hundreds of gold at one time, they’re guaranteed to get what they want because of it.

And RNG spits in their face….most of the time lol.

Now alot of people will tell you to buy rares as it’s cheaper (which they’re right about) and it allows for more chances. If I stuck with rares then I could probably try 6 times rather than 3.

The only trick is like what someone mentioned before. When using rares you’re not just trying for a precursor. You’re trying simply for an exotic weapon as well. So while it’s cheaper and allows for a greater number of tries in a day, the odds are lower because you’re gambling for the rarity as well as the name. Plus, if you don’t get an exotic back, then selling your returns might barely make back half of what you spent, depending on how much you spent.

So it’s really up to you. I say if you can afford it, stick with exotic weapons so you don’t have to worry about trying to get an exotic weapon back.

But most importantly, do not blow all your gold on it out of impatience. If you can only afford to try once per day then that’s it. Once per day.

But just know that eventually you’ll get what you want.

Tossing more stuff does nothing to improve your chances. It’s an independent event.

Of course it does. It’s random yes, but if you keep trying than your chances of that “random” being the one you want increases. If you want evidence of that fact then just look at the alternative which is not trying and receiving….nothing.

I’m not saying it’ll change anything from an under the hood technical standpoint ( i think that’s where the confusion is), i’m just saying that EVENTUALLY, you’ll get what you want.

People are just dumb and blow all their money at once thinking it’ll work for them because they spent so much. The lucky ones in that respect will rejoice while the unlucky ones will call it a waste of time.

And then there’s people like me, who will take it day by day, spending the money when they can afford to and will eventually get what he wants because he gave RNG enough chances to choose the favorable random outcome. Not because he threw 100g at it at once.

Patience does.

It will increase your chances in the flawed logic that you are simply playing more. The RNG remains unchanged; you’re just spending more time/wasting more gold doing it.

AKA: don’t bother

Save your gold and buy them from the TP(if you want it now) or wait until the scavenger hunt in probably 6 months when you can get things free/incredibly cheap.

It’s not flawed logic. Your odds literally go up the more you do it. The RNG doesn’t change of course, but you’re giving it more chances to work in your favor. The more you try, the better your chances of success. Eventually you’ll get what you want. Does that mean throw all your gold at it like a moron?

No.

The only flawed logic among players is logic that stems from their own impatience.

“Obviously if I throw over 100g worth of exos in there I’ll get what I want simply because of how much I spent right? Right?”

No. You got to play it smart. Try 2 or 3 times every day. If it doesn’t work out, play the game like you would normally and you’ll make that money back and then some.

Why?

Because you only tried a couple of times, your loss isn’t that big of a deal. You never want to exert yourself financially to the point where you can’t make it back after a few hours of natural play and I’m not even talking about grinding dungeons or anything. Just regular play.

You treat the MF like the RNG it is and play it smart, then you’ll get a precursor even faster than six months.

Because “save your money” and “buy the precursor” honestly do not belong in the same sentence. lol

I had the same plan as you, having a ‘fallback funds’, selling whatever exotic I got. But in the end, I ended up with 3 gifts and 0g in the bank, and still no Dusk.

I think the description “Mystic Toilet” is a pretty accurate one.

well of course it didn’t work because you spent all your money. You got greedy. Can’t get greedy. lol
I’m not going below 100g. Literally. And I’m stickin to that.

Plus remember, Im only using exotics. Not rares. Which is why my returns allow me to keep trying.

When all you need is said precursor, people do stupid things. I got another 100g stashed away, might gamble it all again.

And it won’t work with greatswords to do exotics. All level 80 exotics cost ~2.5g each, and the ones you get returned are worth ~2.5g. You’ll lose money faster. Might as well do it with rares, you get way more attempts. Everyone I talked to got Dusk with rares, because they could simply afford more attempts.

In the future I’ll keep any named shields I receive until I get 4. I’ve heard chances are better with named exos.

The only part that matters with the mystic toilet is lvl and quality(rare/exotic). Named exotics do not matter, they are simply lvl 80 and exotic.
Quote from Lindsey “Though not all Exotics are “created equal” they are all of the same rarity: Exotic.”

I threw in about 150g worth of level 80 rare Greatswords. I got some exotics back, but I sold these, bought more rares and threw them in.

Zhaitan’s forces were apparently at war, fighting along the Northern Elonian border. Whose turf is that?

Joko’s. lol

BUT

We still don’t know the true fate of the dragon so I hope he comes back.

-following the rule of zombies, no real damage is done to Zhaitan’s head. Being a dragon of undeath, one would suspect loss of limb and cannon fire poses only minor threats. Those threats being to his mobility rather than to his life. Lol

In Fort Trinity, there’s a Priory Scholar asking a Vigil Crusader how to kill risen. He states “Decapitation, fire, just about anything that can kill the living kills the dead.” (maybe not in that exact wording though). The standard rules of zombie killing doesn’t matter to Guild Wars undead – or at least the Risen (which aren’t your typical Guild Wars undead anyways!).

The lasers and cannons were also specially modified to be anti-Zhaitan.

-The fate of Palawa Joko is unknown to us. It’s entirely possible that he was made a champion and will thus come to the aid of his master.

Nope, Joko’s forces are fighting Zhaitan’s (plus Zhaitan never went to Orr):

The Movement of the World

This undead armada has cut off all human contact with Cantha, and the dragon’s undead army wages war even now along the northern Elonian border, preventing all in Tyria from departing for other lands…for now.

Kralkatorrik won’t be next because killing him off opens the southern border to Joko’s undead hordes, which are presently occupied fighting him.

This is actually a common misconception. The dragon that Joko’s forces are fighting is Zhaitan, not Kralkatorrik.

There is never mention of Joko’s undead fighting Kralkatorrik and his forces.

We asume that Primordus stayed underground but we dont really know for sure. Those tunnels go all the way to Cantha, and maybe even further, so he could have come to the surface anywhere.

Not to mention that Primordus makes tunnels.

Though he can also spring up at any given moment as well and at any place, given he’s already made Mount Maelstrom, the dwarves keeping him at bay are probably mostly gone by now.

I would not doubt that while the Pact prepares to take on Jormag, Primordus goes and opens volcanos and other kinds of giant fissures across the land, sending destroyers everywhere – from the Maguuma to Orr to Kryta to Ascalon – thus making him the next target.

Primordus has been around the longest, and he’s had plenty of ancient asuran devices to chow down on for magical food, so he’s bound to have the largest and strongest army around. Hell, Kralkatorrik would have plenty of magic to eat in the Crystal Desert too.

Somehow I see her as the only female dragon, and maybe the mother of them all.

I can’t see how you get to such an impression, personally.

ED6. Well I just think the lore writers made an error here. but who knows

You mean that there’s not supposed to be a sixth Elder Dragon? I disagree. Crucible of Eternity creates heavy allusion to a plant-based Elder Dragon named Mordremoth.

ah i forgot about that bit of NPC dialogue. I hear it all the time when i start running Balth lol.

I suppose it would be Joko fighting Zhaitan’s hordes given the location of the Bone Palace and The Desolation. That’s all his turf lol

There goes my theory haha

@Konig Des Todes.2086

1. I understand how and why the cannons were able to do what they did, but it was a terrible way to fight Zhaitan. I understand that when dealing with a creature of that size, combat choices are few but with all the mythos surrounding such a beast, we the player deserve a much much better end to it all.

His awakening caused Orr to rise from the depths of the sea. No worries.

Just shoot him? Ugh…..

The whole “our time is now” and “we can do it if we work together” theme is played a little too often against the decidedly much darker backdrop set by the lore of GW1. It just felt rushed.

2. Yes noone ever truly states that Zhaitan himself is undead. And obviously he does bleed. However, possessing the power to reanimate the dead and not being able to do anything for your own self is just a little unbelievable, at least to me. He’s made up of other dragons and while we don’t know the true history of these guys, it’s interesting that he would be so when the others are whole. The Elder Dragon of Undeath is made of other dragons I believe not by creation, but by necessity. Remember they’ve been awake before and for whatever reason the world wasn’t totally destroyed. It’s entirely possible that Zhaitan’s body is the way we see it because he’s lost a limb or two in the past. He’s magical to some degree, since it was his power the humans felt on Orr prior to the Cataclysm. We don’t really know if that magic is limited to simple reanimation and control.

3. Trahearne does say that the risen will slowly be wiped from the face of the earth as they are no longer being created at the rate they were before. In other words, I guess they will be around post future Xpacs. Can’t suddenly have Orr…er…friendly I guess lol

4. Here is a link to a video of the fight.

It’s impossible to tell at 10:25 if he hits the ground or not and the tower appears to fall perpendicular to his body. As far as being able to see his corpse, I did some research and this thread on Guru was the best I could come up with, as they made those statements about being able to see it prior to release.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/72448-zhaitans-remains/

As it appears, noone can either find it or see it and something so amazing shouldn’t or wouldn’t be skewed from the player’s view, assuming it was Anet’s intention to kill him off intentionally. So it would appear we still have no clue where he landed and if Anet did end up scrapping the idea of being able to see his corpse I can only surmise there wasn’t enough time to model it, or they wanted to leave themselves options lorewise because the final fight was rushed. Felt rushed anyway.

Regarding a Pact investigation, we don’t know if they went to investigate or not. It would be the logical thing to do though. Like seriously, take us down and lets make sure he’s dead. lol

I’m not sure why Zhaitan and Palawa would be rivals. “Rivals” implies that Joko is a match for Zhaitan and uh…well….one assumes that’s not the case. Last we heard Joko was quite comfortable as ruler of Elona after his conquering of Vabbi. It only makes sense that to me that Zhaitan would make him a champion.

“Hey, you have an undead army? So do I! Wanna work for me? Cool.”

Remember, Zhaitan woke up before Kralkatorrik so it’s entirely possible he got to Joko first. Perhaps now that Zhaitan has been “defeated” Joko fears for the loss of his Kingdom to Kralkatorrik and makes a bid to resurrect Zhaitan. Or maybe he’ll seek to claim the dragon’s power. But I’m merely theorycrafting at this point.

My final point is that we truly do not know the final fate of Zhaitan and it is my sincerest hope that he makes a return in some form or another to redeem that god awful anticlimactic crap we have now.

My theory is that Zhaitan isn’t dead. We never actually see him die. He just plummets out of the sky into the blackness.

Reasons for my theory being backed by these facts and possibilities:

-following the rule of zombies, no real damage is done to Zhaitan’s head. Being a dragon of undeath, one would suspect loss of limb and cannon fire poses only minor threats. Those threats being to his mobility rather than to his life. Lol

-He’s made of other dragons. This leads me to suspect that this isn’t the first time he’s had to “reform” himself after a fight.

-The fate of Palawa Joko is unknown to us. It’s entirely possible that he was made a champion and will thus come to the aid of his master.

I believe (read: hope) that this fight was merely the beginning of something much much better

Seems to me that Zhaitan is more of a malevolent entity rather than a physical being; it simply possessed a few dead dragons and made a makeshift body by merging them together.

Y’know, sorta like Sauron.

I can see that. I think it might be a lot harder to write for however since unless there’s a way we don’t know yet, it would render Zhaitan unkillable. The Ring was Sauron’s grip to life. What would be Zhaitan’s?

That aside, Zhaitan’s “death” allows for travel to Elona now. This for me, presents perhaps the most logical way Zhaitan could return and that’s through Palawa Joko. Perhaps Palawa has been made a champion and senses his master’s distress? Was a deal made?

How would Zhaitan survive?

Simple.

He wasn’t alive to begin with.

I can’t believe the Pact didn’t even send someone down to go look and see if he was still squirming.

Right?

And I thought just now, he’s made up of other dragons. Loss of limb is probably a regular occurrence when vying for territory from the others and their champions.

I really do love the lore of this game. I love the concept of the elder dragons and the lore behind them.

But….

That final fight against Zhaitan is quite possibly the worst thing ever.

He’s huge and I love the design but uh…..some clarification as to how he managed to raise Orr from the depths of the sea would be nice because he sure as heck didn’t do it physically. Magically? shrugs

Soooo a bunch of cannons can apparently kill the Elder Dragon of undeath. Cannons fired from an air ship that somehow managed to stay in the air as well as keep its overall heading despite Zhaitan flying into it and obliterating its forward hull.

That whole fight just rendered the dragons as weak, overhyped creatures, despite us only having seen one. It set the expectation.

Now we don’t actually see Zhaitan die. We merely see him claw around as he plummets into darkness. He’s undead. One hopes that cannon fire and loss of limb wouldn’t be as harmful as we’re led to believe especially since, if we follow the rule of zombies, no direct damage was inflicted to his head.

I’m not sure how they’ll handle Orr in the next Xpac. Correct me if I’m wrong but the risen are kept alive through Zhaitan so chronologically speaking, if they’re still there in the next Xpac after his death…..hmmm.

So lets theorize. How WOULD Zhaitan survive?
I can’t recall where in the air they were fighting but I assume he fell into the sea.

Perhaps encountering Bubbles?

I dunno. I just really really hope he isn’t dead and there’s a much better story to tell concerning the ED’s rather than “KILL IT WITH FIRE!”

The dragons are the six human gods

in Lore

Posted by: Oreoz.2573

Oreoz.2573

The six gods are silent, and not doing much direct action, for a VERY obvious reason.

Look at what happened last time the gods fought anything, aka Abbadon.
-The Crystal Sea was turned into a vast inhospitable wasteland
-An entire civilization of people, the Margonites, was effectively wiped out
-The place were Abbadon fell created an ever expanding “doom area” called the Desolation, that is even more inhospitable then the Crystal Desert

The gods don’t fight the ED because doing so would doom most of , if not the entire, planet into turning into a wasteland.

The gods aren’t the Dragons, or sharing Dragon energy, they just know that fighting the dragon themselves is dumb.

I don’t know too too much about the lore but I chuckled at this since apparently an elder dragon can be killed by firing a couple lasers at it. Imagine what a god can do?

That fight just ruined everything. I truly hope zhaitan isn’t dead.

if i was you i wouldnt waste your time trying to get legandary precursor using Mystic Forge.

I’ve decided to acquire my precursor purely through the mystic forge (and dragons and dungeons and such but you get the idea). I’ve saved up about 110g and I’d rather not build up another 100g (goin for the shield) just to end up squandering it all on a weapon that i’m not even going to use when it could be put to much better use buying up other materials needed for the process.

Now we all know it’s affectionately called the Mystic Toilet. Aside from known recipes it’s pure RNG with that blasted thing so the majority might call it a financial waste.

Luckily I’m not the impatient type. 4 of the cheapest level 70+ exo shields cost about 3 and a half gold. My return is almost always guaranteed to make me back 1 and a half gold so the loss isn’t as big deal.

At best I’ll pop 4 shields in 3 times, never allowing myself to go below 100 gold unless i just need that extra bit of silver. What the forge returns to me will typically make me back about half of what I spent. That money is then used to try again, again, never allowing myself to go below 100.

after about 15 or so tries i’ve had two named exos come back (Grimward and Jora’s Defender). They are cheap to buy, not being much more than 2 gold but they are STILL named.
Other times I’ll get a shaman’s etched shield of some sort and depending on the type, those can be worth 15-17 gold which is a serious gain and provides the means to try at least three more times.
In the future I’ll keep any named shields I receive until I get 4. I’ve heard chances are better with named exos.

My point is that the MF is a completely viable way of acquiring a precursor if you have patience and I say that without even having gotten my precursor yet. My desire to have fallback funds outweighs my impatience. lol

With all that being said I’d like to ask you guys what your success rate has been with forging your precursors? What did you use? What did you find you had better luck with? That kind of stuff.

cheers
