@Fomento, I by tradition been carefull to give out to many exact gear recomendations as I like to see ppl experement and develop yhe build. Atm I thu found a balace that work extremly well for me, on page 5 in this build I listed my current exact gear. Still remember I experement al time with different options, the things I list in this guide usualy have 100-200 hours tested in wvwvw.

@ All, working on a movment guide, it sound weard I know but It will show some catchup and escape tactics. With rune of air, staff, blink and pistol its possible to catch ppl on extreme distances. Also with mirror immage, staff 2 blink and rune of air you can do some fantastic escapes. Will spend some time to get a good guide on video to show how.

Also, seems arena net working on some nice stuff for wvwvw, cant wait.

Ps If somone sometime /w me ingame and I dont answer I appologice, I get tons of wispers and sometimes when im in group events with guild I turn the box of, its not cause Im arrrogant or dont want to help, I take time with everyone when im free. Best way thu to ask a question if I dont answer ingame is to do a PM in this forum or a post in the guide. I will help you if I can and recomend a good tPvP player that can answer if i feel its out of my expertice.

@SoggyFrog, yeah its extremly effective vs glass cannon thiefs, especialy with rune of air and fire aoe sigil.

@Mginn, to help me better can you provide alittle more information avout the situation you have condition problems, in the build there is some meassures to handle conditions, for example why I have a minimum reccomended hp. Is it in big group fights? Solo fights, wvwvw or sPvP? Roaming or siege etc.

Conditions is the most dangerous dmg to us kitten the acctive defenses dont cover applyed conditions, if you see my vids I cause of this often try cc, dazze and use immunitys early vs condition enemys. If you realy have to get a necro down you want to burst him early. Also when he rehit I get immunity 4 sec up, and keep a preassure. a portal out (long range juking) to reset mw and avoid condition help aswell.

Give a little info what situations that is worst and I see if I can help better. Best way to be strong is to now your weakness aswell as your strength and use that to have a overhand in a fight.

@Quercus, yes thats the main reason even if there is some smal others. Reason shatter cat build runs 30 dueling instead of 20 som is mainly cause its a wvwvw in room build (it ofc work in other envoirements aswell as its rather flexible) and the range on pistol + cd is both a dmg and defensive win.

Mesmers are trolls by nature I think, we al try supress it more or less, but just thef act our class is based on trick ppl say it all. Another winner (did this by mistake towards my guildmates…) Is drop a portal on horrible place aka in enemy lines, then find a friendly player downed, drop a entrance portal on him (in my case missclick). Al trying to res him now get ported to named horrible place (and if its your guildmates you can fraps the TS discussion and flaming of osicat).

Yeah its almost different games we play, and its alot more casuals in wvwvw than tPvP I give you that but there is also some guids that play far from casual. Withs et raid times, and adanced strategy,s. You notice the difference when you like me roam in a smal guild who take this kinda serious, when you run into another team who do the wvwvw a bit more serious, the battle can be epic.

Still ofc most team you run into in wvwvw is not using roles and strategys etc, but there is severals of the mid/smal guids who do.

Well in this I give you true, a setup situation like structured where you like 2 fighters in a martial art fight, you have a area to cover and the enemy will fight you with the set rules. It for long especialy before the Phantasm change patch was by alot of ppl seen as “The king of duel spec”I also got y kitten handeled by the idefender, survival regeneratio phantasm spec in structured dueles by my guildmates.

Same time if you run into the named setup in wvwvw roaming you not at al in the kitten as a shatter mesmer. There is alot more ways to use the terrain, if the fight drag out one side might get into a 1 vs x situation and the phantasm spec dont have the on demnand burst. The wvwvw romaing 1 vs 1 is more of a streetfigt than a martial art arena. One of the fighter might any sec drag out a stiletto ond stab the other, and he stand there qq that the other dont play fair or by the rules.

Alot of the “best” pvp setups who win battles in tPvP are less effective or dominating in wvwvw even n 1 vs 1 situations.

This s why I usualy let others comment the structured part as my area of expertice is in wvwvw. Say bunker elementalists for example, alot of ppl have problems by them in TPvP cause they can be a problem in a 5 vs 5 with a treb. But when is last time one totaly turned a battle in wvwvw.

Then we can ofc talk alot about esport, and what is rea pvp, wvwvw or tPvP, personaly I like the fights alot more with a 10 man team roaming arpund finding a way to take down a large forece of players defending a hill than chase around to stand in a ring and gert 500 p before other team get 500p but some ppl like fotball aswell and the citicens of Rom liked gladiator games so taste is different for different ppl.

@Nero, at that lvl it dont realy matter mate, but later on in general for pve lvling condition tend to be slower. I would go for crit dmg, crit power and vitality, mabye 1 or 2 gearpart with some toughtnes if you feel its hard to dodge dmg. Later on you can switch this for vitality and dmg thu unless you wvwvw alot.

Try this, hit mob 1 time with staff 1st, then hit nr 2 when mob comming closer, then summon iwarlock and when it hit 1 time you shatter both. this kite the mob and do good dmg + he go after you instead of your phantasm most often. Work supprcingly well on bad warriors aswell

Read some guides, try the class out and you soon find the flow mate. Its accualy wery strong when you get some lvls.

@Neko, At lvl 1-20 my personal recomendation is use Staff as main wep with sword/focus or sword/pistol as 2nd set.

Get a group of enemys together, get a chaos storm on em and stay in it, get a clone and a phantasm up, let phantasm hit 1 time then shatter it with mind wrack. This is the low lvl trick that stick al the way to 80 wvwvw, generaly after phantasm hit 1 time you shatter it unless you on a loooooong boss fight.

When you get traits, put 1st 5 and tbh even 10 in illusions, you get faster regeneration of illusions and 3% dmg / illusion. This make you survive better and do better dmg.

@Zexion, Yeah shantasm is a effective and common tPvP spec as I understand, I tryed it a month ago and its fun, Amayasu in my guid did run sword/sword – GS 20-20-10-0-30 for a long time and I know for sure hes burst was amazing, he using hes guardian more now thu as we have 4 shatter mesmers in our 12 man team with him and 3 is kinda enought.

@Grimmson, I accualy have tryed it even if I havent been full gear, its deffo a valid gameplay and there is two major reasons why I in the end did chose “shatter cat” as my major gamestyle. Tbh I tryed every single specc possible for wvwvw I think lol, the amount of hours I roaed borderlands and latley eternal is kinda silly but I still love every moment of it

The first reason I found “shatter cat” to be most effective is due to the flexibility, you do a health amount of condition dmg ( 325 is my base but often in burst situations I have 8 stacks of might, thats (8 × 0.375 * Level + 5) = 280 + 325) 600 condition dmg the seconds confusion is but at best 12 stacks. So you have a good way to handle guardiands etc. same time your aoe bursts from shatters make it extremly effective for hit and runs in wvwvw, I can drop a portal, blink in a group, do havoc and portal out, heal and then take same portal in and stomp ppl. This make the spec perfect for solo and smal group roaming.

The second is that it compared to condition dmg spec dont have a hard counter, yes some specces work better vs the spec but a condition removing/eating spec do not shut it down.

Also, in my opinion i need to build more defensive passiv as the acctive defense would not be enought when fight dragg out.

This dont mean I say condition is unviable, totaly opposite, some players like Taldren and others run this and what I undertand with great succes. I just say that in the team I run with in wvwvw we do alot of smal group burst attacks, with 2-4 mesmers chaning time warp when needed, warrior, ele 2-4 thiefs guardian and some others a shatter build is more usefull.

@Neko, I working on it, it will take time thu as im lvling a mesmer for the guide. There is some good threads with extremly lovely and helpfull players in this forums thu who give good tipps. <3 mesmer community.

What would very much help mesmer is if all the traits that applied things on illusion death also applied them on shatter.

Even if this would help condition mesmers alot it would make the shatter crit builds totaly op. Immagine a shatter who crit 3+k x 4 mw apply cripple, 8 stacks of confusion, and 4 random conditions. Then he do mirror immage and a dodge, hit shatter nr 2, apply 12 stacks of confusion, do 700 × 4 dmg, 4 random conditions, reset cripple.

He would now had 8 stacks of might to buff condition dmg aswell and vigour so condition dmg and avoidance is there.

A 5-25-10-0-30 build would be totaly owning.

But sure I would not mind.

Ok before I start I want to note the game is not balanced around 1 vs 1 even if I undertsand this thread is just about this. Classes who is fantastic in group play might have extremly hard vs a special class in a 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 situation.

Shatter mesmers are a setup that is by far the most flexible of the current mesmer builds atm both the crit and condition or even tank shatter builds. This as they with a good player is wery hard to counter.

Phantasm mesmers can do good ressult in a bigger situation where pl spend their cc,s and defenses fast and hard to track a special player. In a 1 vs 1 situation phantasm mesmer sens last patch have harder especialy vs high avoidance classes.

Shatter crit builds are relying extremly hard on avoidance and acctive defenses, 4 sec dissorsion, 2 sec sword immunity, high crit-vigour regenearation = dodge spam, chaos storm block and what alot of ppl miss by the spec LOS by use blink and portal. Also 50% hp = resetting the shatters and again 4 sec immunity.

This ressult in that a skilled shatter mesmer with atleast 1 object but even without will be able to hard counter phatasm mesmers by deny them their core dmg and defense tool, phantasm. And even if the phantsams mesmer succed to land a phantasm the shatter mesmer have a extremely high cloone regeneration + nearly al skills are aoe dmg. This will shut down a spawned phantasm almost as fast it get cats. This lead to the phantasm mesmer not only lose dmg, he will lose the regeneration/protection setup.

This is my oppinion and I sure there is ppl dissagre with me and I respect that, I talk out of my own experience and teorycrafting.

@Jubei, Im sure you destroy suns in that gear Happy you like the vids and guide, even if it is alot of work maintain it I enjoy it alot. About full zerker I went that way to, its good as it give you a benchmark to start from.

I also tryed the opposite with wery tanky gear ( have a vid about the alternative build/gearing) but found it less flexible. Atm im a wery high crit dmg setup with some defensive stats for camp capping and to fight ranged steady preassure classes (Rangers, warriors gs mesmers).

Experement al you can and if you get some great storys from your roaming kittenter mesmer feel free to share them. I give you one here.

*Me and another shatter cat mesmer was hiding by the rock wall that is located betweeen west tower and garrison in borerlands. Suddenly a Arbonstone mesmer dropped on ou head, took 90% dmg by the fall and got knocked ower, we killed him with a auto attack adn stomped, then 2 more cam, same thing but we dint have time to stomp before 2 more, shatter downed those and then 1 more… this continued untill we have a pile of 5+ dead, and 5+ in downstate around us, we sang

It might be my imagination but I feel as a tiny azura when I go in to put up a portal for portal bombing ppl tend to not se me as a threat. Also if its 2-4 ppl and im in the middle I less often get targted for group nuking.

I wont be drawn into this endless and kinda booring discussion on this forum how we are eather op or usless. Everything is not black or white.

I do feel that the ppl who say that as soon a mesmer meet a “skilled” player they loose due to we only win vs ppl cause they going for the clones or fail to dodge the phantasms to be missleading thu. Remember we have ppl rolling the class and comming into this forum to learn about the class, to then have same ppl in thread after thread feed this statement without in any way bring basic facts,proof is not helping them. The correct way would instead be to try work for solutions for any problem you have.

If we are usless vs high ranked players how come top teams like paradigm use Mersmers?

As soon a mesmer win vs someone the player he win is bad, if mesmer lose its due to class be bad. This is a rather iggnorant statement and kinda unfair for the big amount of good mesmers who accualy beat ppl with skill. It also is kinda cheep to blame al misstakes and looses on class mecanics.

I cant talk for the tPvP or sPvP as there is ppl who do this alot more and better but from a wvwvw mesmers point of viev I say that both in smal group play and solo roaming we are in a superb situation. Our 12 man team have 4(!) mesmers, that 30% of the team, and we destroy guild teams alot bigger. In 1 vs 1 or even in 1 vs x You in no way need to blend in with your clones, clones are dmg and resources not decoys.

Nvm I sure some of the forum ppl with the agenda to downwrite the class rather than help ppl out think different but in my oppinion mesmers are in a great spot holding a ground that no other class can cover.

I only wich we can instead of strait on qq left and right try find soulutions on problems ppl have. Alot of skilled mesmers around this forum and if ppl have strait on questions and others have will to help we can work together to be a even stronger class.

@ all, Interestingly last days roaming I have more and more bomped in to classes I havent seen so often on my smal group or solo raids. Several guardians and some realy skilled. This is refresshing change from al the elementalists and mesmers I fought last weeks. Hopfully ppl experiement with new classes and setups and we in the future will see a more mixed wvwvw roaming scene.

Guardians is a interesting enemy in wvwvw, the good ones are hard to crack but for anyone struggeling I have some tipps as I feel I counter them sucessfully.

1 Portals and movment, they realy dont like when you blink, staff blink portal etc around.

2 Burst dmg, they are like dimonds, a steady preassure on them and they wont brake how hard you puch. But if you slam a dimond with a hammer enought time it suddenly crack and turn into dust. This is how my guardian fights usualy look, burst- notthing and i move away, in burst – nothing and i move out burst – dead.

3 remember to look at their boons, dont use pistol iduelist if its a block up, use some other spell 1 st to drop it.

4 mix conditions and burst. 12 stacks of confusion hurt them.

Thats al I have to offer for this morning. Im of to sleep now as I worked a 24 h shift. Il answer any questions 2 night thu when Im awake again.

Was about to give you an answer but then read Mortayas post and felt I dont have alot to add exept that im keep getting impressed by how lovely and helpfull the mesmer community are. Ppl like you Mor is as good reason to pay the class as ever. Then the fact mesmers are the most flexible and fun profession in any mmo I played help aswell.

If I add anything to the help you got infinitims then I add that I keep find shatter number 4 the immune to dmg, to be a life saver. especialy cmbined with al shatters reset at 50%.

Also bring friends as Mor say, I spent a full evening wipe in Nightmare instance with my guild on a beer and instance evening, mabye the most fun I had in any instance. To do a new instance with a guild or friends give you room for mistakes and time to learn without stress.

Ps hope ppl someday understand to treat new players with a little more respect. Just think back on your own misstakes…

@Esorono, only phantasm mesmers with GS focus have realy got nerfed, mesmers are a strong class in pvp and pve in general. Our " spawn a few minions who kill for you while you drink your te" times are over, thats all.

When Gs get fixed innterms of izerker dmg I expect to see some realy dangerous range burst shatter mesmes in wvwvw.

@Sinergy, as for go condition as dmgbase for the spec/gear I feel it as a ressult demand a longer fight and a more constant preassure to be effective. This as a ressult demand more passive defense as the In dmg zone time be longer, it dont work with the juking
( in do dmg, immune enemy dmg out, in again new burst and out to avoid etc) the shatter cat is based around.

As for the extra confuison stacks in t burst situation The spec already apply those. Its not uncommon to have 12 stacks on confusion on a enemy you just bursted down to 20% hp. As you in this situation also have 8~ stacks of might who give bonus condition dmg he have no chanse to acctive react to you.

The 33% confusion uptime is not worth 3% dmg / clone, 50% hp = shatter reset in ,y opinion.

I dont say condition dmg is a unviable way to go, I know for sure some ppl use it with sucess, I just feel that for this gamestyle heavy burst, strong survival and condition as a controll and bonus dmg work better. Its also is a bit more flexible och dont have a hardcounterd in wvwvw (condition spec get har countered by condition necro), closest is that we have problem get a tank elementalist down (can still be done if he do some misstakes and you know what to look for, had several good fights vs one last night) but in wvwvw you often have the canse to move the fight or get backup. In sPvP you have that cap point to get as score keep ticking.

@UnknownFreak, This is the current gear I run with, I tryed alot of different setups and have alot of gear in bag to switch. Both full glass cannon and tanky setup (If you interested in tanky setup with shatter cat spec there is a movie guide).

The setup I now use and listed work extremly well in my oppinion as it both give a superb burst and a little passive survival. The core for this spec is acctive defense but there is a few siuation the extra armour help. First when ou cap camps, the npc,s combined with a defender will keep a steady dps on you and its immpossible to avoid al incomming dmg as if you pull back and reset cd,s etc risk is that more defenders come and fight get so long npc,s start to respawn.

Another time a little armor show is vs non burst ranged classes. This is mot pur biggest problem as you generaly kill a ranger, Gs mesmer or riflle warrior in any 1 vs 1 situation, but when its a 1 vs x or 5 vs x the steady dmg income get hard to migate and you want to save immunitys for incomming bursts.

Also for portal attacks the big aoe going around it help.

The latest patch have given me a big passive health boost and I might dropp a valkyre gearpeace for another berserker, but 55% crit is enought and I have bigger need of more crit dmg so not sure I will.

The hp from valkyre in my gear is to handle conditions.

I sure ppl can get the spec and other shatter specces to work with other gear setups, both tankier or more glass cannon, what I losted is my personal setup that I after loong time in wvwvw smal group or solo roaming found work best for just this gamestyle.

First of all mate, if its tricky lvl 10-30 dont give up, the mesmers are like a good wine, the more you drink the happier you get

Owerall the class specific strength start to show best at lvl 40 + but its alot of fun on the way. For lvling I reccomed a steady staff and in other wep set test what you like.

I want to recomed a good guide for shatter spec, the spec in it self is not realy a beginner spec but as you got time to learn if you just stared its worth a watch. I also answer any questions reguarding shatter spec in the guide. Also alot of videos in there to see.

Atm Im working on a videoguide for lvling as a shatter mesmer, it will take some time thu before done.

@Wtbingbongbadbeer, First, who ever did make up your name mate, for a semi dyslective person like me its torture to type lol <3. The stats in my build link is the sPvP stats, the defensive recomended stats in the guide is the minimum defensive stats before you start work hard on your dps. Reason I been so hard give my exact gear etc in recomendation is cause its due to change quite often. The guide and spec is under constant develop and I experement ALOT.

What I type in the guide thu is things that after hard and long testing I found as accurate best possible setup with the spec and gamestyle.

@Volatility, tested and no nerf as I see it. Had a 4 × 3,8k MV with fury and mightstacks earlier wealding staff.

A good way for early gameplay is that if your phantasm done hes 1st dmg epsode/attack and a mob go after him he will die so use mindwrack. Also if mob at 30% use mindwrack or if on cd cry of frustration. This as if mob die your clones despawn/die anyway so might aswell speed it up.

Ps Gs is great and its a personal taste for ppl but if you find a staff, try it out. Pull 3-4 mobs and stand in the chaos storm with the enemys, get 1-2 clones up and hit mindwrack. You love it.

Atm I beside my 600h wvwvw mesmer also lvling a fresh mesmer to create a smal lvling guide video. Im focusing on shatter spec as thats what I played on my main sens … ever ;D

What is easy to forget as a mesmer especialy if you played other classes before is that we dont do our dmg thru our weapons mainly. Tbh even in 80 my best ever hit with a weap is a 7,8k ~ blurred frenzy but more common is 4,5-6k. Still I regulary bursts in wvwvw for 15-20+k

This due to several facts, mesmers are a class of many numbers… as in many different dmg sources. When they start stack up you do some real havoc but this gets more obious when you get some lvls.

The dmg ways for a mesmers as our weap dmg is low… realy low so eather you do your core dmg thru phantasms, or shatters. Phantsams have receved heavy nerfing last months and some are bugged. Also a phantasm in lvling die quite fast and you never realy get full benefit form it. Best way that remain in my opinion is shatter crit dmg with a survival focus thru lvling.

Get your phantasm up, let it hit 1 time then shatter it. Use staff alot as its a survival wep and second set is atm best for lvling in my opinion sword/focus or later sword/pistol.

@Phanstern, I started work on it today, plan is to start get a 1-60 video guide Focus WILL NOT be a step by step lvl fastest possible (ala 1-80 surper fast) but how to in a smooth and fun way play shatter mesmer on the different parts of the game. Wep setup, utilityskills and traits. Also a little about tactics etc.

Focus will be Pve and it will be a Side Project to my normal videos and guide. Will keep do the wvwvw etc just that I on spare time work on the other part.

As you now can dodge, blind etc a mesmers phantasm in my oppinion you should by feedback him also steal the phantasm Its acts like a projectile/attack right.

@ Yukishiro, yes If I did a lvl guide, test with a fresh it would be with staff gs from start, but shatter focus. That would prob be how guide would look. Example lvl 1-20 wep setup x, attack setup y and traits z, lvl 20-40 blabla, etc. Just checking, would this be of nterest for anyone?

@Volatility, Il test it in a few hours but last night 7 h ago about it was normal, had a 4k mindwrack crit for example. I be back with more data later.

@NerdyMike, Ty for ask this. Yes its deffenetly working in Pve and dungeons even if you might need to adjust the skills and weps from instance to instance. Especialy the fractals its a solid instance for this spec in my opinion. There is a few instances I had problems due to weard mecanics. One is the nightmare flower one where the flower on floor + aoe close give huge problems as mele dont work and staff buggs out.

For this I suggest this, if you do instances bring a greatsword to replace your p/s for some fights, also learn to alywas carry a focus as it sometimes is beneficial. Also learn to experement with utility talents. Acalonian crypts thief boss get totaly neutraliced by feedback on hes “pull ppl close and aoe them” for example.

The spec have some corner traits that give it alot of its potensial thu and at lvl40 dodge = clone will give you a huge jump in overal gamestyle. Also lvl 60 illusionary persona who is the cornerstone of the whole spec.

Also Experement!!!! always experement and you find new ways to do stuff. This is what bring this class forward, ppl try stuff out.

Centaur runes do have some added utility in WvW situations running around with a small party, since air runes don’t grant team swiftness. Now, do I really love my teammates that much that I’d give up damage for them? I think my main motivation for sticking with centaur runes is that they came free with my Zhed’s armor.

Also depends on the teamsetup. The team I run with always have swiftness up from other sources and not anyone in the group use centaur runes.

@RapidSausage, I would not call 10% crit dmg and a regular 3-6k hit little bit of extra dps. In 1 vs 1 especialy vs thiefs is sent from heaven as it take em down to 50-60% when they attack, even in a 3 vs 1 its often give a good boost to the burst.

Ofc al this is diefferent oppinions and I talk form my perspective whene burst dmg is a major interest and swiftness for group fight is no problem. Even for solo romaing I dont have porblem move around fast with a combo of staff 2, blink and air swiftness.

Btw, as we have a great deal of new players from time to time asking for advice for lvling etc I been thinking if I should start lvl a fresh mesmer from lvl 1 using shatter spec. Just to try it out and be able to give good advice and mabye even a mini LVL as a shatter cat guide What do you ppl think, would it be any interest or is it trivial persuit.

@Phira, ok mate, hold on cause this will sound so cheesy… I named the guide “Shatter Cat” as to make this style work you need to be agile as a cat, no brute force here

@ All, Been messing around with sigils latley, cost quite a few gold but I did a few days run with bloodlust and now im back to the 5% dmg thu.

I also picked up Ordibble,s tip and he will have a honnor spot in the guide for the 10% dmg bonus nightime combined with glow on night sword. Same as Amayasu have a honnour spot in the guide for “Rune of Air”

As you notice ppl the guide is under constant work and I will uppdate it with every patch etc. Stats and gear recomendations will change in the future if its beenficial to the guide, like the defensive stats added 2 weeks ago. TY you all for help me develop this.

Interesting the times we worked together with other guilds been extremly sucessful. As Partis say feel free to reach out if we around, we not big but used to fight outnumbered and on most evenings with a team.

See this from 07:22 —> Its vs Arbonstone and only reason this work is casue a team from [RED] and [WAR] and a few soloers did hold the front to sandwich the Arbonstone team who heavy outnumbered the desolation fighters.

Sitting here and thinking how happy I am I play at Desolation, yes ofc last weeks been a weard couple with [Ruin] leaping in and out and some other drama. But now when things seems to settle its obious that what remain of our wvwvw organiced team is a core guilds of 300 style fighters. PPl who stayed on deso wvwvw teams even now and fight back to back when so many left is the true soldiers of the server.

I just want to salute the smal strike team guilds like [JUG] and the bigger backbone style [RON]. Its so fun play iwth you guys, so dedicated, skilled and as soon we starting to get higher numbers in the wvwvw we for sure witll start be a big threat again.

We on Judge will ever give up our behind lines harassment and for next weeks fight, bring it on.

Cheers Ogrie, loved your film and even if we had great sucess vs VITA and BB that evening I love the fact you put up a good fight even in smal numbers.

The weeks desolation spent in t1 Judge who run in 8-12 man team most often had to see every guild/group about our size flee and get a 10 times team behind em before attack. If you like Judge are behind enemy lines its extremly fun to find a equal size group with organication and a will to offer a battle. If your 5 man team run into a other BB 5 man team you know you get a fight not see them try flee.

I will not join the debate about speed of other classes or lack of speed on our, what I will do thu is give a few tips that work for me and help alot both in escape and chase downs.

1- : Staff 2 + blink + pistol “Sprint Attack”.

Chasing: Simply mark a npc thats is behind the target you chasing, blink max range towards enem but in front of the npc, instant hit staff 2 for a 2nd blink towards enemy and swap to pistol, now cripple or stun depending on whats best for the situation. You can cower a great area by this and I supriced many swiftness classes by suddenly catch up with em.

2- : Staff chaosfield, staff 2 + blink escape.

Make sure you mark enemy that chase you, land a chaos field in front of you, when you reach it hit staff 2 to blink away form enemy, get a chaos armour and often a block boon. Now insta hit blink at max range on a position that place the chaos field between you and enemy. Tis will force him to run thru a chaos field or around it, get hit by 1 (mabye more) staff clones + you got a great deal of distance. Soon you can staff 2 again.

3 – Portals. This is the ultimate escape and attack tool in wvwvw. Using the escape I described above but also hit a portal in mid of chaos field will hide it. When you running and hit 2nd staff 2 and if enemy start catch up you can portal behind him for attack or run away. If you pla the fight you can force enemy flee towards a direction you have a portal to kill him (often seen in my videos if anyone interested).

4 – Rune of air/centaur. Yes you can complain that the game force us to use a special kind of runes but still you can turn it and say "how lucky we are that there are runes that solve our mobility issues)

I hope this help for anyone who have issues with mobility in wvwvw. It wont make you a shortbow thief but it solve alot of the movment imbalance issues you might experience in solo or smal group. As soon group get a 5 man team you will have perma swiftness anyway as long its a guild team and the team officer know how to organice a team.

My guild have been running 5-10 man runs sens game lanch close to every night. we runn thief guardian and mesmer heavy with a mix of warriors, necros and rangers on the other spot.

Its extremly effective as you behind enemy lines pull heat of the main zerg, cap camps and killing enemy resource runs.

Here is a vid of our 10 man teams romaing, we had just taken the camps in the north and did run into this spannish team who had a treb our server needed to take down.

I play a roaming mesmer in smal group behind enemy lines or solo roaming, taking camps etc. Its pure love, I have a guide for my spec with 17k wievs so far on the mesmer forums and the mesmer community itself is so lovely only that is a reason roll the class.

Hi good question

It depends on playstyle and spec aswell. If you play a “in their face mele and shatter” you will take hits, eather from retaliation or from them. The majority you will avoid yes but the 10 sec cd on air will be proced every time you go in so it will be a help to your burst. If you thu use a range kite them and do dmg It can be arguable if the centaur is better.

For my buid and guide Air is best because the playstyle, also the crit dmg is a core of the burst setup.

Feel free to see some of the vids, air is again discussed in the guide. This said I DO NOT say that air is best in al gear and specc setups.

@Pyro, yes fun as long it lasted. For me duelist is thu a central trait for the build so will keep use it.

@ordibble, yepp good tip and I can even give a good tip how to track when its night. Get the sword skin that glow in nighttime, when it glow the dmg buff work. I dont use it so far as its messy To switch weapons al time but its deffo a interesting and valid dmg increace.
