I have played this game since the 3 day early release, probably some 3k+ hours and have run 8 chars through world completes yadyada. Want to know how many keys I have had drop that whole time? A total massive amount of one, and that was finally 2-3 weeks ago.
They have NEVER really dropped that often, well not in my experience. They do seem more rare than exotics as I have had more of those drop. Granted I have had a fair number drop from map completes from those 8 chars doing their world completes. Also as stated above if you want keys the best method is to farm them through the personal story. If anyone tries to get them through regular drops, they seriously are just letting themselves down and are wasting a lot of time.
Funny I always thought that there were tons of skins in the game…….you can see them all in the wardrobe.
As for crafting yes they may have the boring old skins but the purpose of crafting them tbh is for the stats, period. Then you can throw on whatever skin you like later.
I don’t find crafting boring and I also manage to make cash off it from time to time. Mind you I gather everything that I use pretty much and I level up mostly through the discovery part of the system. Another thing to realise is it really does not take much effort/time to lvl up crafts if you have the gear or cash. So they don’t really expect us to be crafting for too long unless we craft in many or all crafts (like I do on 4 diff chars so that I cover them all).
Not sure what I’m really trying to say actually lol. Except that I think crafting is fine, it’s fun for those who find it fun and it can be rewarding for those that do a bit of research into seeing what makes the best cash from the items they can make.
There are a lot of skins in the game, but if you could filter out all the skins that you can only get through the gem store, or that are only available to other races, or only available through the Hall of Monuments (few but still) and you looked at this in each armor weight, slot by slot, I think you would see what I’m saying.
Also I don’t think they intended crafting to be just something you do for a little while. It is there I believe because there are people who like to craft in MMO’s and as it stands it feels lacking and boring and in a lot of ways unprofitable (I am not saying that you can’t make a profit off it).
Everything is fun for those who find it fun. I believe that crafting can be more compelling and exciting to more people if more skins were added to it from beginning to end and some of those unique. Would you disagree? Would you really be upset if this happened? I really am not trying to bash on this part of the game to where others need to defend the honor of GW2, I’m just expressing my opinion that there is room for improvement that could have a large and positive impact on not only crafting, but leveling and the economy.
Well I do agree that more rewards could be added to crafting, I’m just saying I don’t think it should necessarily be more skins. It takes a long time for them just to do one new armour set. So I could see new armour skins taking a long time (also a lot of work which Anet may not want to do) to add to the game. Perhaps single pieces of things here and there like maybe new back pieces, water breathers with unique skins sure. Maybe even toys and other fun things, things that would not necessarily take too much time to work on.
I will give cooking as an example. I absolutely loved training that skill up mainly because of all the cool recipes to unlock. Just seeing them all (even if the actual uses of them was not so great) was fun and sort of a mystery as to what was next/figuring out. Maybe if they also added more things to discover per craft like this, that are not necessarily weapon/armour related it could also give that discovery/fun feeling to it.
Capes, give capes to tailoring, now that I could see being profitable and fun!
The game took so long between announcement and release because they actually announced it the second they started working on it.
Most MMO’s aren’t announced until relatively far into development, hence why the time seems shorter between then and release.
Arenanet have consistently pushed out content at a far faster speed than any other AAA MMO I’ve seen…
Not sure if the other game that I am playing is classed as a AAA game but it has been around 13 years now, has 30k+ ppl logged in at all times and at prime time can have anything from 50-100k+ and yet they manage to pump out updates now every single week.
Don’t get me wrong that is NOT what I expect from Anet and is certainly not I would want but I think it had to be said for some reason lol. I do have to say however that, that game does have a subscription for the most part yet people can still play a big chunk of it for free. Funny enough however ever since GW2 came out they have been changing the system to be a lot like Gw1/Gw2 and are even following in the footsteps with a store type system and allowing trading game currency for subscription and such type things.
Believe it or not I think GW2 HAS had an effect on the MMO industry and does have a helping hand in how that industry is changing despite what some people spout as the negatives of this game.
Funny I always thought that there were tons of skins in the game…….you can see them all in the wardrobe.

And yet, a couple of months or so ago, the forums were full of posts commenting on how content was released at too fast a pace. What’s a development company to do? =/
I think that’s a part of the problem with the living story. You have no control on when it comes or when to do it. So if you are a new player still going through the learning stages of the game or even a semi new player going through mid levels of the game the living story may not be of interest to you at the time.
However with expansions YOU choose when to add that part on to the game and when YOU do that content.
I seriously think they need to rethink the living story and possibly make them re-playable somehow so that newer players or players that didn’t/couldn’t do them at the time can still experience it all, get the rewards and “have content to do”. It would also put more value into all that work that anet had done as well as it’s not “just gone and wasted”.
And as for SAB, that should be there permanent as well because it’s MORE CONTENT, again going to waste.
I’m pretty sure he is a Norn, you will probably have to be a Norn for that face.
I would suggest just giving it a try. No one here can really answer your question without more info from you. You didn’t state at all any interest you usually have for these sorts of games or what you normally consider worthy as “endgame content”.
For myself I have completed world complete on all 8 classes as well as their personal stories. So right now while I am waiting for more classes/races to come out I am just mucking about doing PvP (for the achievements) and WvW (again for the achievements). Personally for me that’s enough right now until more content comes out. However having said that I am also playing another game as well (a sub) mainly because it has a ton of content, probably more so than this game will take 10 years to push out. But that game is such a grindy game so it gets boring fast. But that’s why I play the WvW and Pvp here, for that fun adrenaline rush game style.
Summary: try again and if need be play another game along side this one if this one is not enough for you.
Why no 1st person mode? Same reason that we have limited zoom in/out options of course. That being it would hinder ganking in the PvP modes. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for it too, especially in PvE but as usual things here are done more for the pvp crowd and all others must suffer because of that.
Allowing everyone to disregard whispers from anyone not on their friends list will just encourage more isolationism. I’ve had whispers from new players asking questions, people I don’t know complimenting the look of my character, someone I didn’t see requesting a rez, and friends who weren’t on my list for whatever reason. If I had the option to ignore all whispers, I may have just assumed all those people were spammers.
I don’t think that’s a good idea.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again: having an option to filter out all whipsers besides people on your friends list can work here as it does work in another game that I play. If someone wants to talk to you or ask you to add them to your friend list they can still mail you to do so. If you don’t want to filter out all people, that’s fine too, you DON’T have to use the option to do so, but please allow those of us who do want such an option (or similar) to have that option.
How to casual successfully? Simple, never play, just post on the forums. :P
I reply to their whispers by swearing at them before I block/report. It would be funny if they reported me for offensive language lol…
The thing is ‘A fool and his money are often parted’. You don’t have to buy anything from the CS to play – PERIOD. It is all ‘luxury’ items and none are really needed to play the game. You can play this game without anything from the CS and do just as well or even better than people who buy stuff in the CS.
Understand it – they are ‘frivolous items’ not really needed to play.
ESO is a classic examples of a sub game. They have gated so much of the content – One race you pay extra for. Want the fastest mount in game, it will cost you, etc. That is more of a cash grab than GW2 ever will be. The same can be said for the other sub games that went F2P recently.
a lifeless fool with all the time he has, just like you but you better know this fool, without fool like me and my money who buys stuff from gem store there wont be game for lifeless fool to play so you should thank me that i am exist or like i said no game for lifeless leechers like you, you are problem of gaming world go find job or something so you can afford 15 a month, cheep fool.
And there it is, the “I pay money to play a game thus I am better than those who don’t” attitude. I guess next you will want higher stat armour in game that can give you advantages over other players?
Face the fact that this game was brought out and hoped to change the mmo meta and how their models work. Face it, this is a different game than those others, if you want those games, go play them. For the record I am not against pay to play games 100% myself either, in fact I am playing one right now alongside this game. I just don’t think that this game needs it and you know what? That is also what anet thinks as well.
The problems that this game are facing are NOT a lack of funding or cash. When will people learn that throwing money at things does not always fix them? If you ask me I think that Anet enjoys the model of this game simply for the fact that it does NOT create an urgency or demand on them from the players to do this, do that NOW because we are paying them cash. I think they ENJOY the semi freedom that they do have. I seriously doubt this will ever change.
He’s just wearing Sylvari cultural armor, it doesnt mean anything.
Hahahaa farm enough BLTC keys and you see, twins, triplets of npcs all wearing the same clothes literally all standing next to each other. It really makes the whole thing look VERY lazy. At least change their clothes!
Maybe its a uniform?
One example that comes to mind is human personal story when saving the hospital. There’s a twin or triplet set with blond hair and I think a blue long dress, def not a uniform.
Maybe she finally figured out what “cheese” meant. Now if she was a skritt you would have had no problem at all of course!

I have a feeling they are not only trying to get PvE Players into playing WvW and PvP but also vica versa. Get out of PvP ppl and go explore the WHOLE of the game.
Ps that was not me that was Anet. :P
Been there, done that a few times myself lol. It shouldn’t be too much work I should imagine. Tbh they need to totally overhaul the UI anyway and give us a lot more options. I can imagine this being a very big part of the next future feature patch actually. Yet that could be anything from 6 months to 2 years away at this rate. :P
Don’t worry this is the correct sub forum for the suggestion and yes you are correct there is no lock system/feature at the moment. I also agree with your idea, another game I use has a similar system in place and it works wonders.
no. the idea of sigtimg in a point and waiting the game happen and in the same time scoring is wrong. defendimg a point doesn’t mean you have to fall aslwep there and not caring whar’s bappening out there. this would promote a bad behavior
Riiiiiiight that’s why it’s a capture/holding game and not a straight up deathmatch/team death match right?
The system is semi flawed just like the wvw system is. It is about time they started to address these problems.
You can put two 5’s on them but that requires using the Mystic Forget and a lot of mats or something…..didn’t look too much into as the wiki is not the best for info in my experience.
What kind of bad experience have you had? The wiki is literally the best source we have available to us. All of the recipes for ascending items are available and accurate. The only things that aren’t fully fleshed out is new content, like that the trait pages aren’t saying unlock parameters on them.
I didn’t say “bad experiences” at all. I said “it’s not the best for info in my experience”. Which tbh I stated in a hurry and probably not 100% what I meant. I just meant that the information could be easier to read, and by this I mean the wiki overall. Sometimes you really have to click on every link to get to the information you are looking for and even then you can still be as confused as you were before loading the wiki up.
I don’t blame the hard workers that do their best to keep the wiki up to date and full of info because tbh I think a HUGE part of that job should come from the makers of the game. It’s just that when you look at other games and how the devs of those games give the information for aspects of their games (even if they only provide the very basic information) it can usually be read very easily and at a glance. Not forcing you to do specific searches here and there and walk through a maze of links to finally find that information you have been looking for.
Now I am not going to give you specific examples right now of what I mean because tbh I very rarely use the wiki mainly due to these issues. Also it’s been a while since I have used the wiki to find such pinpoint accuracy information on something as such as I am referring to so I really don’t have any examples off the top of my head right now.
The consensus is they removed it because we the players are too stupid to tell the difference between Ferocity the personality and Ferocity the new combat stat.
Yet the buff called Ferocity still exists in that 1 pvp map so I wonder…….
If you’re having problems with a lot of eng, roll necro and fear + faceroll.
Elixir gun Toolbelt is a good counter for fear. :P
One stunbreak on a 40s CD isn’t going to cut it.
Well now that depends how many fears you have and on their cooldowns. I seem to hold my own vs fear even vs 2-3 necro’s all at once. There is no single GODLY skill in this game, well besides stealth but that’s an entirely different subject all together. :P
Guild Wars 2: Scarlet returns – run for your lives!
Depending how high you want to go in fractals you shouldn’t need any infusions so high. You could probably get by with just 5 on each item if you had all trinkets at 5 and full ascended gear with 5 each. I am at about 30 or 35 AR myself and it did me well enough. However I never planned to go too high in fractals myself.
Having said all that tho you can get 10 on each item without using anything higher that 5’s. You can put two 5’s on them but that requires using the Mystic Forget and a lot of mats or something…..didn’t look too much into as the wiki is not the best for info in my experience.
It’d be pretty cool to see Zergs that weren’t all of on top of each other and looked like actual battalions of soldiers!
They could do this if they just thought about trying to do it in other ways. Using the WvW capture those circles for the server buff for example. Imagine a battle line down the middle of the whole map (or broken up in a way that all 3 maps are equal) where there are areas or circles that needs players in them the whole time or the land becomes neutral. Of course the whole battle line would have these all along it and as the battle lines get pushed in either direction they move accordingly. Remove the ppt garbage and do something like this I say. :P
Things like this could go a long way to breaking zergs up.
So you have to leave a bunch of people sitting around doing absolutely nothing unless the enemy decides to attack that particular spot? Doesn’t sound very fun.
Nor would it be at all rewarding. But hey, at least we would have smaller zergs, so totally worth it, right?
<.<
@thread – I absolutely hated player/mob collision in TERA. It felt awkward and clunky, and I would be sad to see it ever implemented here.
Oh come one now, who said no rewards? Given enough thought there could be rewards as well as a constant battle going on. Unless you guys just want to run the karma train all day long I really don’t see why people don’t have open minds to things or even try to add to them themselves. What no imagination anyone? Really?
Seriously? Two clicks too many? You must be very happy with the game if that is your main concern…
Yes it’s annoying EVERY time. 1 simple click at the top of the screen would be far superior. What you got something against progress or something, I suppose you think we should all be walking to school/work 5 miles in the snow with no shoes too? :P
It’s a quality of life thing.
If you’re having problems with a lot of eng, roll necro and fear + faceroll.
Elixir gun Toolbelt is a good counter for fear. :P
This has probably been suggested thousands of time (if not, why not!?) but still, thanks to the way the glorious search feature works here I would have no idea. :P
So here goes, a icon at the top of the screen to quick join the Tournament queue would be nice and save time/annoyances with joining. This 1 click would be far better than clicking – Arenas, Join, Submit. Why, oh why do we have to put up with such garbage when we want to play many games in a row?

It would be cool but is hard to implement for technical reasons. I’ve seen body-blocking put in other games, and lead to an immense amount of glitches.
Not to mention trolls getting another tool up their sleeves to do their best to annoy other players. I really can’t see it working in this game.
It looks like you have only one character. Use one of you empty slots, create a character you get personal done, leveler done and when you delete the character break down the equip and that is done.
And how is that “play the way you like”? That’s just as bad as having to join a zerg train or do PvP in my book. (and I do have multiple characters, at various stages of progress, but I only level up one at the time, that happens to be my way of playing. Which is now punished by ANet)
Just advice, do what you want and be happy or miserable.
If you don’t care then why post? Sick enjoyment out of belittling and irritating people? OP is correct and people like yourself who attempt to make their points insignificant or foolish either have a hidden motive or are just shooting your own self in the foot. Choices have been significantly limited and it has had an adverse effect on game play for those of us that don’t have or want to play hours everyday. I suspect the point of limiting choice is to “Force” players into PVP. I have yet to figure out why A-net favors PVP soo much? I personal hate PVP mainly due to its monotony and restrictive play style. Plus the players that tend to play PVP are rude and disrespectful.
I think it was an overreaction to achievement point hunters who felt compelled to do ALL of the options each and every day who came on the forums and complained about how the huge number of options made dailies feel like a chore.
I do think they limited it too much and there are ways to increase options while limiting ap earned to a reasonable amount to keep most of both groups happy.
If this is true that’s just silly…
Changing this system for that reason just like changing the trait system and how it used to work because “some” people didn’t spend their points or do it to the best of their ability is plain stupid. If they keep going at this rate soon they will just pull the game because “some” people may play too much and get ill from it or something silly like that.
Come on, give us the benefit of the doubt here, we are not all children needing hand holding…
Rant ended, at least those silly “you have been playing 1 hours please take a break” messages are not here unlike gw1 lol…
I have no problems using esc to do it… What I’d love to see is removing the shift paste-in permabind, it is my dedicated dodge key… I die a lot due to this fact.
Change dodge to mouse wheel button click and all your problems will be solved, much easier/faster to click that too! Of course that is if your mouse wheel does have a click option that is. ::P
I thought the achievement point chests were supposed to reward with gold?
There are some which give gold, usually a benchmark number so to speak. Example 10k points is something like 10 or 30 gold, I forget the specifics but on my chest list I can see the 15k chest and that again is about 30 gold. I do remember that the 10k chest also gave 400 gems which is pretty nice for players who have never had gems, it gives them a nice little taste of how gems work and what the gem store has to offer.
I’m on the fence on this one, there’s both good and bad.
The good: never again is it the exact same rotaion of 1 day having to do Ascalon kills/shiverpeaks events with the next day being Shiverpeaks kills/maguuma events. That got boring fast. Now we pretty much can do it all in Queensdale or our map of choice and are not forced to certain maps.
The bad: there are days where you only get 4 PvE choices it seems or one of them is get 3 skill points. Sure I can get 1 skill point by doing the rest of the daily usually from events. But come on I have 8 chars all with world complete there are no skill points for me to simply unlock that way. Leaving me 3 annoying choices. 1 make a new alt and grab some skill points, 2 waste 2 skill point scrolls (which I am trying to save for whatever char I may want to use them on later) or 3 grind out 2 more level ups through events/whatever.
Some of it now is too forced. Sure I can do both the PvP/WvW and/or PvE together but tbh I like to and do play WvW/Pve when I choose to and not forced to. Please anet remove that stupid 3 skill point choice and bring back the ambients. Sure that was annoying too but not as bad!
“Almost 2 years later” you are 4 months off, how is 1 year and about 8 months “almost 2 years”? 4 months is a whole season and a bit for crying out loud lol.
I have played this game since launch day, I seriously thought that starter instance was single player only only, cause I have never seen anybody else in it, I didn’t even know there were supposed to be other players in there. lol.
You sure have some skills at picking the deadest time to play if you didn’t see anyone in there during launch.
Yeah if you wanna see other players in there start a human and you will see the key farmers. :P
If you can choose, it’s not a mystery. You’re asking for an endless any-tonic.
Exactly. Why have it randomly if there’s some transformation you don’t like, it would eliminate the frustration of having to pop the tonic over and over to finally get what you want.
It’s not really a mystery anyway, if anything a short list with RNG involved. Besides the mystery can always mean it’s a mystery to know how the item works.
If you can choose, it’s not a mystery. You’re asking for an endless any-tonic.
Tbh I don’t care for the mystery part of it, they can feel free to change it’s name if they feel like it.
It used to help in PvP as it used to double your glory gain. You are correct it’s useless there now. TBH I would suggest using it on a wvw only char. Figures I say this when my main still has some 20 hours of the buff left and I used up all 14 of them on him lol….kicking myself now!
In the least the buff should only lose time while in WvW.
I agree about WvW, that’s where I’ve tended to use mine.
However, with PvP, it’s not quite completely useless, because magic find affects the PvP loot boxes. While it’s not worth playing PvP with the buff, it is worth giving the rewards to an alt with the buff.
Are you sure the magic find works on those loot boxes? Because we have been told time and time again that magic find ONLY works on actual drops and not chests or boxes of any kind. If you have seen this information somewhere I would like to see the source please.
Here you go: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Magic-Find-PvP-Mystery-Chest/first#post3875950
Cheers for the link that’s handy! Well this is good I don’t feel as bad now for having that buff up while I’m doing PvP now. In fact this may explain why I got that rare dagger skin from there last night from one of those champ boxes!
I agree with this suggestion. It takes me sometimes 15-20 minutes to change into the statue from the Endless mystery tonic, it’s annoying and a time waster!
Clicking on the tonic should pull up a list of what we can choose from. This way multiple people could make a whole lounge room or kitchen if they wanted without all the random garbage!

Kodan remind me of panda’s, just saying…..
Would you buy a guild wars 2 expansion for 20 bucks, if all it contained was a swimsuit wardrobe for your character?
maybe you should play The Sims instead of Guild Wars…
Wait, what this isn’t The Sims? Now I’m confused, I thought it was but just with killing and stuff….

For the golem banker they are soulbound. However every NEW char you make gets a golem banker. This is great if you farm keys.
Just throwing out a few ideas
For #1: It could be that there was more than one person you were fighting. Could have been a Mesmer with the Thief. Otherwise, I guess it’s possible that the thief could have shadow stepped behind you right after the shot fired which tracked him and it ran into you. Just a possibility, I don’t know if that would actually work.
For #3: quickness (frenzy/trait/rune/sigil)
Quickness does double your speed (correct me if I am wrong) yes but it does not make charges skills instant and certainly should not make stomping instant.
I’m pretty sure I had that number 3 happen to me the other day in PvP in tournament. Sounds to me these are bugs that people are exploiting and not reporting if anything.
Oh I meant to mention the area I refer to is the Frostgorge Sound. I don’t know if other areas use the same physics. Dean, you may be able to dodge them all but I can not. I am fairly agile in real life and my reflexes are very sharp so I find it a bit disconcerting to be in the middle of a spitting match circle of those bad boys when you’re trying to hack down an Ancient Sapling or some Orichalcum Ore. Occasionally, if there are more than 3 their relentless attacks have kept me on the ground until I died.
The physics would work the same regardless of area o.O
The way you always dodge those is kite to 1 side and when they throw dodge to the other, you should try assigning the dodge to you mouse 3 button (you press down on the wheel, press, not roll, press) so you can dodge even more easily.
Lastly, stability or just kill them, because trust me Anet is not going to change that aspect of the game, introducing a physics engine that is.
Not that it wouldn’t be cool, the Euphoria (used in GTA games for ex) hell yes, even a basic rag doll, but its honestly just too much trouble to implement in GW2 with really no returns.
I don’t think that they ALL do work the same for every area but in frostforge yes you have to actually DODGE them all or use some type of block/reflect.
For example before the megaservers I used to solo a lot of champs mainly for dailies etc. The Champ wurm in the low lvl (maybe 25-whatever) charr area was one I could simply walk out of the landing area of the missle 9 out of 10 times. No I don’t believe I simply walked out of range but I guess it could be an explanation at a stretch but I don’t think so.
