As long as the armour still exists and you logged on the char with it you should have got both skins unlocked.
I had a PvP achievement chest in my inventory, but saw i was unable to open it. I went to Heart of the Mist and i was able to open it, but i have no idea what to do with the contents inside.
If this is the case you should be able to right click the items and choose to store to storage thus unlocking the skin for your account.
If they had levelled up a lot of alts to high wvw levels I would say it’s normal and working as intended. Personally I only got an extra 1 but I mainly stick with just the 1 char in WvW. :P
Look at Rune of Speed post balance, and think again if you truly think Anet did a ‘bang up job’.
Instead of having dyable town clothes, we get a dyable set instead. Boon duration runes (the ele’s bread and butter) were of course nerfed but any warrior-affecting runes were not. And instead of actual game balance, we get hard-counter traits.
What happened to the ArenaNet that made Guild Wars 1? Is this the best you can do? Hypes and underperforming functionality? Did you even try to make changes or do you actually believe Rune of Speed does something meaningful? Do you even know your own game?
I don’t mean to be rude or anything but to answer your question “What happened to the ArenaNet that made Guild Wars 1?” from what I have seen the balance team would have probably been early teens maybe even children when GW1 was first made?
Again no offence to anyone, maybe to me they just look that young, which is not a bad thing! :P
Yup I noticed this too, now my “unpredictable” Mesmer might just be more of a worry to people….
Agree on all points here. Anet has made it so transmutation is worthless for <80 characters. There really should be some kind of discount or reduction of transmutation for pre-80s. It’s not really fair at all when you consider a pre-80 is changing gear every 5-10 levels when a lvl 80 never has to, yet the costs of charges are the same.
Tbh guys I found when levelling my alts that upgrading gear every 15 levels from lvl 20 onwards was optimal. But still, this does not change the fact that transmuting is now more expensive for lower 80’s.
It will only unlock the piece of armor you purchase, so if you want full sets of Vigil light, medium, and heavy, you will have to buy all 18 pieces.
Inconvenient, but good to know. Thanks!
Not only inconvenient but probably expensive too lol. I remember buying the Vigil axe for my necro via my warrior and that 1 piece alone was no small price. :P
You will have to buy each piece, it will not unlock a full set of armour. You can have just 1 char belong to a faction and then buy any item from the vendor for any class and choose the right click bind option to unlock that skin forever for all your chars. You don’t need to lvl up multiple chars simply to unlock exact type of gear (light, medium, heavy). Again just buy whatever, choose right click to bind, the char does not have to be able to use to do this.
Edit – re-read op.
What they should do is charge level 1-79 players 1 charge for every 3 pieces of gear that has their skin changed. I don’t know if they overlooked this, didn’t tell us in full how this will work or tried to pull a swift one over us (which I doubt) but all in all this would be the fair thing to do.

No, go back to whatever game you came from, thank you come again, oh actually no wait don’t. :P
@Iceman RE: “no matter where I go I die and in most places multiple times while trying to accomplish objectives lower than my level.”
I can play just about any PVE area solo and hardly every die. Now to be honest I am just an average, and maybe below average player.
With tha in mind I am wondering if it may be your build or perhaps need a tactics adjustment?Either way you are more than welcome to come to the Sea of Sorrows server 9-Midnight (Eastern Daylight Time -5) any night and I would be happy to help you out. We have voice and can talk you though your problem.
I have a feeling these events that keep killing the OP may be those “group” ones which are not meant to be solo-able, yet funny enough most of them still are anyways. :P
A.Net can put money into Cinematics or game play. Look at SWTOR – that was all Cinematics not game play.
It is hard to have both when they are both drains on finances and resources.
Yet they managed to do it for GW 1, your post here is flawed I am sorry to say….
You really shouldn’t be dying too much in PvE if you are above lvl for the maps. What’s your class and is your gear level appropriate? Also what stats do you have on your gear and do you have extra heals through traits or utilities?
I have played all classes from 1-80 doing world completes and pretty much soloed all of it, every map 99% of the time. By the time I got to my second/third chars I was dying at most maybe 2-3 times (not counting WvW :P) I truly think you are making basic mistakes.
Oh I am pretty sure that they could come up with better ideas to keep people being interested in this game. Heck all they need to do is look at a few other games for ideas. It’s not a matter of them not having ideas for content here I’m sure, it’s just a matter of them actually getting those ideas into the game (or fast enough for us demanding people) due to whatever reasons….
It was removed from my inventory.
The splitters? Well if you had paid real cash for the gems to buy them I should say you would be entitled to a refund, you may want to look into that.
Yeah thanks Lamont, I re-watched the video at that part a few times. I guess the point that the guy was saying was that you can still use any splitters that you have. I guess the only reason people would want to do this would be to gain their old item back or an “extra” item so to speak to either vendor for some small chump change or to salvage.
I guess this is the reason they removed them from the store too because A: they are pretty redundant since the wardrobe will now give both skins, and B: people don’t waste money buying them out of confusion.
So thanks for replying all this case is now closed for me.
I believe as long as the base stats came from the fervid censor, that skin is supposed to unlock as well as the desert rose skin you presently have on it.
There should be no need to use a splitter.
This is what I thought, but if you listen to what that guy in the middle of the video said at the 12 40 mark it does make you think twice about it…..
Also, nobody has answered what I guess I should have made this post as, the question – did they remove splitters from the gem store and if so why?
When part of the living story came there was a back item that we earned (the yellow flower I think) and also a rare version (the red rose?). Basically I got them both and saved them for my sylvari to see which would be the better look for him. In the end I decided the Red Rose looked best and I transmuted that onto the other one (the yellow flower). Now I want both skins unlocked after the 15th.
Now after just watching this:
I got the impression I would have to buy a transmutation splitter before the 15th to get the old skin before the update goes through on the 15th. check the 12 min 40 sec part of the video for this exact information.
So my problem is, if I can’t find/buy the transmutation splitters before then I have no chance and am out of luck?
Umm not sure if it’s just me or what but I can’t seem to find these anywhere on the Gemstore now. Anybody know if they have been removed or where they are?
I really need one before the 15th update as I have to get the skin back that was a limited Living Story one (that flower back item thing).
In advance thanks.
All the transmutation stones/crystal you currently have will be converted to charges after the update, so yeah it is retroactive.
EDIT: Remembering that the transmutations from map completion is already in your inventory (if you didn’t use it), so you won’t get extra ones.
I’m asking my question based on the fact that the map completion reward doesn’t always give Transmutation rocks — you either get a Trans rock or a BLC Key.
So for those who did get a key instead, won’t they receive Trans Charges?
I am 100% sure that you get Trans stones 100% of the time for map completes. It’s just that you can sometimes also get a key. I have completed world complete on 8 chars so far and not once for any map complete have I seen zero stones and I have got a fair few keys while doing them all.
But even so, if this is the case (which again I say I don’t think so) I would count yourself lucky that you got keys instead whenever you did.
Ps, you have just under 1 week to stock up on charges, get to it start farming those city maps on throw away chars while you can!
(edited by Paulytnz.7619)
Also beware that to get the title and star you have to uncover every single area, not just get all of the objectives on each map.
That’s not true actually. “Areas” being uncovered relate only to achievement point explorer stuff. For the star and 100% map completion, you only need the POIs, vistas and skill points.
Don’t forget the hearts.
I’ve noticed that these bags come in a rainbow of colors.
I’ve also noticed that there’s a vendor in Queensdale that sells Lucky Rabit’s Foot charms. They’re accessories, cost 2 silver each, and have NO stats to them. These also come in a rainbow of colors.
Call me crazy, but I’ve always felt there’s a connection between the two items, and there’s something we’re all missing here…
TBH I think the reason these bags were in the game in the first place was as a flashback kind of to the old Char backpack bags we had in GW1. They came in various colours too (if I remember correctly) and were semi rare from some of the tougher mobs in the starter area. Here however they are nuisance drops and they were even so before champ bags came into being.
Having said that however, I have the first bank tab of my guild bank fitted out with 2 different coloured bags in a way that it spells the letters of my guild name. Looks rather cool actually.
As to those other items you mentioned, yeah I agree I always thought there was something to them too but I never figured it out.
OK, here goes for why melee is better in GW2 than ranged as demonstrated by comparing thief pistol/pistol with dagger/pistol. The point of the ranged weapon is presumably to not get hit, but a smoke field from an off hand melee pistol can blind nearby opponents and prevent damage. Overall, a well used smoke field is safer than running about like a chicken. On top of that a dagger can use a leap finisher in the smoke field for stealth, has more utility, more damage, more mobility, and is a better fit for most traits, utilities, and stealing.
Except that there’s Defiance… which makes your blinds rather useless.
Also, most notably in WvW, sometimes you just can’t melee. Like when a zerg vs zerg fight sometimes, where there’s just too many AoEs around to actually approach anything safely with a melee weapon.
I’d imagine that over time Anet will also add certain mechanics which enforces the use of ranged weapons.
If anything I would think they would try and steer us away from Aoes/multi target skills so much (the ranged ones at least) and play more single target weapons/skills. For this to happen I could see huge nerfs to the aoe/cleave skills damage wise. Heck this might just slow down combat some and add more of a strategy to it when zergs hit each other and not be just big blobs of aoe fields all over the place and instant downs on the squishies and almost instant downs on survivalists. People might just be able to see what’s going on as well – imagine that! O.O
The only problem I have with the activities is that they have them only on certain days. This totally destroys them imo. With the new megaservers coming they wont need to worry about people being spread to thin so to speak. So perhaps they can rectify this and make the games more meaningful and be played when WE feel like it. Have them on a par with sPvP/tPvP with rewards/fun and whatever else, I don’t know I’m tired. :P
Dear Anet,
Your champs in Queensdale do not drop enough loot to properly support my level 80 warrior. Please correct this, so that they drop more loot.
Thank you,
Rad Warrior.
Anet replies:
Dear Rad Warrior,
Thank you for sharing with us your concerns. After taking what you said in and discussing this matter amongst ourselves here at Anet we are pleased to tell you that this matter will be fixed henceforth with the next patch. Loot bags will drop less silver than they usually do, we will probably half it in fact. Thank you for your feedback and we hope you look forward to the new loot drops!
To address the Engi mobility, yes we have some of the best mobility in the game
Engis are about 3rd or 4th mobile in game. Not sure if its the best. Swiftness is only a small part of mobility since alot of class can P-Swift , like engis. The real mobility comes from :
-Things like Fgs 3/4
- Warrior GS 3/5. Bull Rush. Sword Leap. Shield Leap. Warhorn.
-Thief (Inflitrators utility, sword inflitration, shadowstep bow, shadow trap, etc)
- Note: Thief has 0 swiftness or only small swiftness yet its considered #1/2 mobility rank, disproving your “Swiftness = mobility” thing.
-Norn Snow Leopard Form – Dash.
-Engi Rocket Boots (As mentioned)Engis are good mobility, due to p-swift and rocket boots, but no where CLOSE to best in game. If you think ele fgs, swiftness is better than ele is 3 and engi 4. If you value engis stuff more than ele fgs, then engi is 3, ele is 4. I think everyone agrres that war/thief are 1/2 interchanged.
Yes well I was basing my opinion on what comes from traits and utilities the most and not so much weapon skills as that would box you in when it comes to what you are choosing for your combat skills/attack style.
Personally I have all 8 classes and have played them all to 80 and world completes and the 3 I hate the most for mobility options are in this order: Mesmer, Thief and Guardian. Mesmer because it’s only focus (I think it’s focus) for a speed buff, their trait really sucks if you just want to move fast and not be in combat. Thief, unless you are using shortbow or those other weapon skills which I don’t) they REALLY have to rely on their signet and stealth. The only other thing they get is that trait option for a measly second or 2 of swiftness on dodge (very helpful – not). Guardian, well no trait option (unless I’m blind!) at all and only a staff skill which I admit is a nice 12 seconds (again I think lol) if you sit in it for the full time but it does have a nice cooldown. But again a handy trait or signet is needed imo.
To address the Engi mobility, yes we have some of the best mobility in the game. 2 different traits, 1 gives a passive 25% movement I believe (same as most other classes) while the other gives you a speed burst upon changing kits which you can spam for unlimited speed.
Apart from that, as mentioned above rocket boots will remove chill, cripple and slow from you while also sending you forward some distance (very good in WvW/PvP and only has a 20 sec or so cooldown!). The elixir gun has a skill that fires gunk on the ground and fires you backwards, You can use this to escape when you need to (in WvW when I have to run I do a 180 and face my enemies then fire that skill and fly backwards away from them and then quickly turn back around again and continue on running while my rocket boots recharge :P)
Apart from all that we also have an elixir that gives 20 seconds of speed (I think it’s 20 seconds). So yes, Engi is THE class for mobility.
Edit: oh and did I mention RIfle skill 5 is your BEST friend for 99% of jumping puzzles? That’s more mobility right there.

As far as the suggestions go, I would like to support the ideas of engineers and staff elementalists.
Both perform rather well compared to other ranged only options.
Keep in mind though, that if you encounter any form of projectile reflection, you’re out of order until the effect fades off.And enigneers don’t suck per se, but playing an engineer effectively requires way more micromanagement than with other professions and you usually have to go through a number off button presses to achieve something many other professions can do by simply pressing one button.
Still if that is your thing, they are indeed fun to play.
Which is why I mainly use the Flamethrower, it does not reflect back at you and is great for spraying and praying vs stealthed enemies (both PvE and PvP). The range on the flamethrower seems low on paper, but actually feels further in game and if you really need to go long range you can drop down to rifle or elixir kit. With the right traits you can also get a constant 6 stacks of might, an extra 200 toughness (even on top of the 300 you can get from the defensive trait line) as well as regen hp while using it.
Apart from all that and back on track, Engi is a great class but if you want a true long ranged class and depending on what you want to do in game, personally I would go ranger LB/whatever else with horn for speed buff. People say they suck but honestly I find mine awesome for pure pve for fast kills as well as farming (not bothered for dungeons as I use my engi main for that).
(edited by Paulytnz.7619)
I guess they are making them tonics so in a sense using them would be “free” (like they are now when we use them) and we wont waste “charges” to apply them to gears. I guess with enough people asking for them to be either strait up clothes or both it might happen, you never know.
It would also save on our bank space having as a tonic, 1 space for a tonic vs a few for a clothing set. Remember for town clothes we could keep them on our chars at all times thus they didn’t take up bank space. With the removal of the town clothes toggling thing they have to go somewhere or be applied to our combat gear as the skin.

Ummm say what now?
That Engi pull is an interrupt so it’s great for stopping a stomp. On the other hand the skill that pushes back people is what I find annoying because it always starts off in cooldown and 9 times out of 10 the cooldown is not ready before you are stomped – totally pointless!
Bad idea, all you would be doing is punishing those who buy often or spend a lot on the TP. Waypoint costs are cheap, heck it only takes and event or 3 at most to cover any waypoint cost.
Don’t forget people are going to have to pay for new traits if they don’t want to work for them so any extra taxes would be just MORE or a burden for some people.
Defending is broken full stop.
Me, by myself with an AC vs 10 man group:
First encounter I kill their catapult and down 2 ppl, who get rezed. They run away to a camp to collect more supplies.
I get NOTHING. Despite the fact I saved the tower, I didnt repair or kill anyone so I get nothingSecond Encounter they build a ram, which I take down and again down a player but cannot defeat.
I get nothing for saving the tower againThey proceed to PvD. I can only down 2 but they get rezed again
I get nothing for saving the tower againSo I hold 10 guys at a tower for 8-9 minutes and got nothing.
Defending blows!
For 8-9 mins you should have done the defend event for the tower 2-3 times, so you would not have got “nothing” you would have got something. But still, downing people on your own on a single ac is pretty good, they must have been real squishy as it usually takes 2 acs to down people (because you have to get in fast/multiple hits before they retreat to heal).
You know I have played this game since launch and it’s very, very, very rare that I ever get coin drops. It makes me wonder if some people are hit like this like some of us used to be for WvW bonus resource rewards etc.
Being level 21 doesn’t necessarily help with that particular vista, since the Breached Wall is a level 24 zone. My suggestion: Go to a different, lower level map (Queensdale, or another one of the starter zones, for instance) and build yourself up a bit.
If you need help on how to accomplish this, feel free to ask – I’ll try to guide you in-game or give you written instructions in a PM! (I can’t come physically help, as I am in NA servers)
I am not even sure that we can PM other players on the other region game. Something you might want to keep in mind.
We can. I have several friends in EU servers and I’ve even sent them mail before.
Wow, well I guess that’s something. Strange they wont let us guest there and such stating it’s not physically possible due to the information all being saved in each area with totally different economies etc as well yet we can send mail possibly with cash/items from our economy to theirs….
You can negate condi damage by way of removing the conditions. The only issue I see with it all is skill1 on some weapons for some classes will always reapply those conditions. I have mentioned this before on other posts that I think a big part of the problem is that we get “free” conditions with no cooldowns thanks to skill 1 skills.
Imagine how many world bosses might not come close to those 25 stacks if we weren’t all applying them with skill 1. If we were only applying with other skills that have cooldowns and they don’t last too long we might actually see conditions not at max stack.
Perhaps this is where you need to direct your idea…..

What a shame you are on the EU servers I was going to offer to come and help you but alas I am on the NA servers. I would suggest that if you can’t find people to help you that you have a few options to get this done at a later date:
1 – Wait until you have a friend or 2 (guildies would work too) to help you tackle it. Really it would only take 1 lvl 80 friend to help you through it if they know what they are doing.
2 – Wait for the feature pack that is coming which will be in a sense merging all worlds together. This will give you more people on your map to help out.
3 – Clear a few other maps, unlock your elite and stronger skills/gear and come back and give it another shot. You will find it a LOT easier trust me.
PS despite what I said in point 1 you don’t even really need a lvl 80 friend. I managed to solo this every time on every single one of my alts at the appropriate level for the map. It’s not so hard when you know what you are doing especially if you are used to the jump puzzles (it is the jump puzzle/vista/SP wall we are talking about right?) in this game. Another tip – you don’t have to fight/kill every mob in your way.
They could run a test server I guess with very limited content that could give a good enough idea of what the game is all about. Let the player play the first few personal stories and explore say, their starter map.
However to deal with the bot/gold seller issues I would suggest having any such server be totally separate from the main live server and even possibly be more of a solo experience where you can’t even communicate with other test players.
Sure it would not give 100% of a taste of the true game experience but it would give players enough of an idea to know if the combat system, story telling style and general feel of the world maps is up to their tastes.
There are some changes coming in the feature pack that are to address some of the things that you are talking about here.
1 – Changes to runes/sigils. These changes may give your ele more build options.
2 – New traits and ways to acquire them – again this should give you more build options.
3 – Ability to use PvE skins in PvP, enough said, as yet I’m not sure however if we will still be able to earn skins through PvP and then use them in PvE.
As for PvP armour not having stats I’m not sure why they did this, it is something you have to get used to and take into account when playing, especially if you play PvE a lot more. I have no idea if they will address this or even if it’s an issue for them.
Play another game while you wait, it’s what I’m doing. It’s ok to do that!.
Something to remember, this game can never compete with some of those other games some of us came from simply because it’s not a true “grindy” game and thus Anet wont put that type or amount of content in the game. We just have to accept that this is a casual game and as such casual content will come out casually. It’s a great thing there is no subs here because it gives those of us who are more used to grindier games to also play (and pay for) 1 or 2 while still playing this.
i highly suggest deleting the Key farming method ~ i don’t want anet to nerf it
Actually, this one is well known to ANet. There were even discussions with several devs whether this is an exploit or not, so I guess deleting it from this thread now is about… 1 year? too late…
The thing is he has you clearing Queensdale map for keys – which does NOT always give you a key. It’s a random drop for clearing ANY map. I think he confused map clear possible key rewards with the actual way of farming which is via Personal Stories.
Make upgrades cost badges. Means people upgrading need to switch when out of badges.
That would make defending worse….. at least with cash you can make cash while playing in WvW. Badges are not so easily come by. You seriously want to kill off any chance of defending at all? O.O
Clearing Queensdale to farm keys? Doh, you need to google key farming better.
OH GEEZ! She’s ten times as scary now!
The biggest question is… Why is she always carrying a knife??
Hansel and Gretel know, sadly they have gone missing tho….
Sooo, why doesn’t my game give everything bobbleheads?
Is the date on your pc correct? Try changing it to April 1 if not.
Someone needs to get an Ettin, they have 2 heads…..
If you look close enough you can see my chinbutt….
Lol you guys will never get a(head) in life with these attitudes. :P
