I got fed up with the royal terrace kicking I started to make sure I always left the place before logging out or changing char. It seems to do very little, unless I am very far from the terrace entrance I am still shown as kicked out even if I am totally out of there! I spent a deal of cash on this item only to be treated like a bum who never did, what gives!?
So many opinions and such, keep it up. I guess now whenever I’m bored in game I can play “rub the baldy” instead of my time honoured “Asura leap frog”. So much fun!
Hey at least it’s not tossing dwarves, because you NEVER do that!
I am wondering why only Thieves have thier own dodge animation, wouldnt it be nice if each profession has thier own dodge animation?
So i suggest for giving each profession a dodge animation that fits thier profession.
You forget (or may not be aware) that Asura have a different dodge animation as well, the coolest imo. So if anything they would make them race based I should imagine….or perhaps change Asura to thief perhaps.
If you have a problem with paying a trivial subscription fee then you should be doing something other than playing around on the computer. The anti-sub arguments are really bizarre. I mean are you wasting your Netflix sub or your internet sub if you’re not using them 24/7? Of course not. You’re paying for 24/7 access to a service you value.
It’s funny, really. People pay a box fee and expect to be entertained for years. If you got a hundred hours out of this game you got more out of this than the vast majority of AAA titles out there. People don’t want to pay money yet the have the nerve to complain about subpar patches, insipid story, and gating of horizontal progression behind the cash shop. Well, what do you expect?
Ummm what? By the same token you could be asked “if you want to pay a sub game why are you here?” Also many people here are often times demanding an expansion because they WANT to pay more cash for quality updates. People also want quality patches/updates (free or not) because it’s just good for the game in the long run, no one wants horrible things added to any game that may drive people away from it.
The problem is we know it’s “just a game”, nothing is real and we also know that even if we do die in game all it means is we have to pay a silver or so at most to cover the repair. So what else can they do? Tbh tho the first time I was playing in the new LA the screams of people I would hear in the background (through my home theatre system I might add lol) seemed pretty chilling, after a while of course that wore off tho…
There is NOTHING they can do in this game that would scare or shock me (okay if they took my loots away for some reason such as stuff from gemstore etc :P), nothing. They can destroy La and I would just think “okay, that’s cool I guess” but I wont be surprised, I wont be shocked. They could kill of a char here and there and I would just shrug. So again I ask, what really can they do?
Maybe things to benefit alts would be a good idea for karma, or just fun pointless things that are not sold on the gemstore. Dunno really but I’m sitting on 4 mil now and I spent a load on 2 stacks of obby shards a few months back.
Ps if you have probs getting karma run with the zerg in WvW for a bit, it comes pretty fast there, all those little sentry takeovers, towers, dolyaks etc etc.
So I guess what I am saying is FORGET about reaching 80, ask yourself why is 80 so important? What is it you really want to do with the character once you reach there? You can do pretty much everything at any level so there’s no real rush to 80.
Try fighting lvl 80 ascended gear players in WvW with a non-80 character. I guarantee I could auto attack with an ele any non-lvl 80 to death.
If you are levelling in WvW you really shouldn’t be trying to roam or go out alone, stick with groups and you should be fine.
Maybe this is why she seems so grumpy all the time, don’t forget Britney did away with her hair too when she was in a bad place….
Also here’s google’s bald Zojja:
Nooooo noooooooooooooo say it aint so!? I was hoping she was hiding an Affro under there….:(
Back when there was that bug in the personal story, it showed Zojja as bald without her helm. I think it’s likely that she does not have a particular hairstyle because developers intended her to have her helm on.
Extremely plausible, I would like a dev confirmation, until we get that anything is possible!
Gw2 will be fine as it’s designed for casuals, casuals wont have time to even bother trying those other games.
I just can’t believe a female asura would seriously choose to be bald…..
Why not? They’re basically furrless rabbitmoles.
I do believe you have Asura confused with the Dredge. :P
We’ll for me Skrit would beperfect to play. But I’m afraid that if we will se another race in game it probably be Kodan.
Kodan would be a strong choice to make a new playable race. However I’m not sure Anet would go down that road, they would probably then be accused of trying to be like that other game as polar bears could be said to be very similar to pandas…
As the title says, is she REALLY bald or does she just APPEAR bald because of her headgear? I think this is the most important question regarding the entire game at this present time. Sooooo what are YOUR opinions, is she really bald!?
I just can’t believe a female asura would seriously choose to be bald…..
Might be an explanation: i’m a pvp player mostly. World vs. World and TPvP are about the only engaging content in the game for me at the moment. Dungeons were fun the first 10 times per path, but after that… ughh. xD
Dungeons, bleh I have done maybe each path once and that’s it for me (still 2 dungeons left to do that 1 path each on lol). But yeah I can understand the pvp/wvw side of it, I do my fair share as well when bored, I guess it comes down to how much time people have to play as well, for some that 2-3 hours I mentioned might be all they can spare to spend in game.
Now that I have all 8 chars at 80 with world completes most times I feel lost as what to do in game…so I either play some WvW, muck about or log out to play some Civ5. I am seriously waiting for some engaging gameplay here but I keep reminding myself this is not like the old games I used to play and is more casual so I have to deal with it I suppose lol.
Skritt!
you may think I’d be a thief, but you’d be wrong. Mesmer Skritt!Skritt on their own are kind of stupid though, so I suggest that every playable Skritt “character” is in fact a little group of 5 Skritt that works together as one (quite literally). That should be fun.
Yeah, nah not really. Think about it even humans way back when were as stupid as anything when they were separated and in small caveman groups. Then people started to come together to make villages, towns etc and the pool of the combined knowledge lead to smarter people over time due to the sharing of the collective skills/knowledge.
The same could be said for the skritt who ALREADY share towns with us humans and other races. Perhaps they have already gained stronger intelligence due to the fact they have been around many others for so long.
To be honest, by the time you reach level 30, you have all the knowledge of your class you require. And that’s when it gets boooooring. I always end up abandoning the lowbie for a couple of weeks/months for my high levels, then dumping a load of money earned in PvE into crafting and getting them 80 in 2-3 days.
Coming from someone with 8-9 (forgot the exact number) of 80s.
Well maybe I like to look at things more indepth than you and at from every angle lol. Besides I did only one map a day which takes me roughly 2-3 hours depending on how many people I bother to save doing events etc. Then I would jump back on my main. 2-3 hours a day is not a big ask and 1 month later or so you have a new lvl 80 with a full map complete.
For me it was about learning how each class plays differently and how they handle each challenge differently. You could also throw in to that mix builds. For example my 1st 7 chars I played through them all in toughness gear doing world complete before even touching the stories. I never worried about reaching lvl 80, there’s no point, nothing magic happens when you do. I just did 1 map every day, tested out the new skills as I unlocked them and saw how each class handled the maps.
For my last guy I decided to try out zerker gear after seeing all the posts saying you don’t need toughness etc. Again to me this seemed like a new experience when doing those same old hearts/maps over again because I was not only learning the new class (Necro) but also learning how to play as a new build.
So I guess what I am saying is FORGET about reaching 80, ask yourself why is 80 so important? What is it you really want to do with the character once you reach there? You can do pretty much everything at any level so there’s no real rush to 80.
Oh and lastly if you reach levl 80 without really learning the class how effective will you really be?
(edited by Paulytnz.7619)
In the very least they could look at having ranger pets dodge when we dodge….I shouldn’t imagine that would be too hard to do.
You have to bear in mind there are a few different aspects to what a game looks like, which are somewhat independent of each other.
For a start there’s the art style. This is what makes games like Wildstar and Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) look completely different even though they’re both coming out around the same time. One is extremely stylised and cartoony and the other is aiming to be extremely realistic. GW2 is somewhere in the middle, it’s definitely not trying to be hyper-realistic but it’s also not overtly cartoony, it’s more like someones painted a picture.
Then there’s how demanding they make the graphics. High end graphics need expensive equipment, especially on PC (says the person who just spent £500 upgrading her PC and trying to forget that buying a PS4 wouldn’t have required an entire weekend of set-up and a week of trouble shooting) so even if the developers can make their game use the latest, most impressive graphics they might decide to reduce them in order to allow more people to play the game.
Finally there’s what your computer can run. A lot of games these days give you a range of options to adjust to what your computer is capable of (and sometimes what you want) and it can make the game look totally different. If you’re not already running GW2 on minimum settings try turning it down to that, consider that’s what some people see all the time, compare it to screenshots of new games coming out like ESO and Wildstar and it’s easy to see why they look better.
Yup this exactly. See I usually play on medium settings for an average FPS of about 20-40, if I’m doing dungoens, WvW or PvP I have to go down to lowest settings just to avoid any disadvantages (I usually get to about 5-10 fps in WvW on medium). So I am playing in medium settings mainly and the game looks average to good to me. Yet when I played FF14 3 years ago I didn’t have such issues and for the most part the game looked far better, usually armour wise anyways. But I do have to say the way that game handled missiles (such as arrows, spells flying though the air) I was really let down as it just didn’t happen, all you saw were hit splashes. Now it’s things like that which break immersion and can make even the best graphics games look shoddy.
You can still exchange Dragon Bash and Zephyr Sanctum currencies.
So why they don’t add these to the NPC who sells these??
Personally, I would like to buy it, but they’re still bugged and unuseable at many places.
This is why I’m up with the question.P.s.: Achievement made us farm it lol…
I didn’t need the achievement, I farmed those rubbles for the halo and horns. Now I have 4 horns thanks to my dragonbash helm.. So I’m double more evil than you. :P
Basically the difference is if you buy the exotic one and say place it at the bottom of your bag list, any exotic drops you get will go straight there. It will not fill with rares, blues, greens, white or anything else until all your other bags are filled up. It is a good investment if you like to salvage a lot of stuff fast without having to check if it’s exotic/rare since they would go straight to those bags at the bottom of your list if you have them placed there like I do.
Hope that helps.
I admit I DO need to upgrade my comp but IMO when I played FF14 (a few years back (before the re-release when it had all it’s probs) I would have to say that game had the best graphics at the time and compared to how I see GW2 right now with my current comp it still does.
I’m not sure how it looks now with the re-release but I’m sure if it looked better than here for this old comp it should for any new comp I bought as well. Well that’s my logic. :P
PS I am not saying this game looks crud, just stating it as I see/saw it.
There really isnt a “ridicoulus” cost to level crafting if you can spend some time gathering mats instead of buying them. Wich I guess you already know.
And by farming t6 mats, you got alot of t5 mats you can sell. You will probably get your 5 gold back on the way.
Also, I think it is smart to farm some ori and t6 foodstuff anyway, as jeweling and cooking is supposed to get to 500 soon.
Or maybe they will only need carrots and copper.
You’ll never know..It’s the tier 4 mat that is the problem (rugged leather). When trying to farm them if you are lvl 80 most of the time you end up with tier 5 because of your lvl. Anet really needs to sort this issue out with drop rates etc. ATM the best way to go farming mats like these is to fail events and just farm them mindlessly. Bad, bad, bad gaming right thur!
Bad, bad, bad info right thur.
If you want rugged leather as a lvl 80, just farm mobs that drops bags that contain rugged leather. Or put up some buy orders for medium lvl 55-65 coats for 7-8s and salvage 3-5 rugged leather sections plus some essences of luck from them. Its not bad game design by Anet, its uninformed players like you that let mats like rugged leather spike.
Not true at all, I spent a few good hours a few times on different days trying to farm these the way I thought was intended and got maybe what, 5 total (each time) for all my effort put in. Now I’m making 5 gold an hour after finding my new method of getting them and doing my best to help supply the market with them. But you carry on with your idea that playing the game the way it’s meant to be played is the best way. But I will say again, their drop system is flawed.
The fact is roaming around killing mobs that are spread out hoping for that drop can NOT compare to endless spawning mobs via an event due to it being blocked from completion. They seriously need to look at all of this.
Well, go ahead and exploit events for 5g/hour.
I just made 30g in 1 hour of placing buy orders for coats and salvaging them.
See you really are not doing anything for the market at all. All you are doing is making cash by shifting what is already there around. I wish they would look at this drop system and make it more rewarding for those that kill while they are roaming around or who are actively trying to gain the amount they need to do their crafting.
The problem is they take into account events and that all people there get drops, thus why we don’t get drops 100% of the time anywhere in the world. It all needs an overhaul. Hell I would even ask for removing drops from events if they would fix it outside of events. As for exploiting? Is it my fault if the mobs are spawning far too fast for my toon to handle killing them all in time to res the dead npcs? No, if anything I sent this in well over a year ago as a bug. Not my fault they havn’t fixed it yet, it’s also not my fault that zerkers are meant to be the only ones who can kill them all in time. Oh well I guess it’s my fault im not using zerkers tho. :P

Um what? The combat here is more engaging than most other games, if anything that’s probably the best aspect of this game. Don’t even get me started on animations combat wise in other games, heck games like FF14 don’t even show your missiles (arrows, spells) flying through the air. All you see is a splash on the enemy, now that’s horrible animations right there.
The demise of ESO is its RPG brothers whose combat system is superior. No matter how different the combat system is MMO wise people wanted Elder Scrolls RPG online and Zenimax failed to deliver. Combat feels nothing like the RPG ones – it’s slow, clunky, your main attacks have soft targeting (seriously, why? Tera did just fine with no aim assist) and all extra abilities lock on. It is really not fun.
I have both Oblivion and Skyrym and not once even bothered to think about looking at ESO, I guess the fact another company was making it sent me alarm bells right off the bat. I guess it’s a shame for all the true fans of the series but I guess a plus for us.
Mb AvA in ESO on a huge map with copy-pasted keeps will be nice, but i could barely make myself play through starting pve stuff for a day before i turned off this clunky crap which zenimax calls a game.
You’re a spoiled gamer.
Not really, just the content isn’t engaging at all AND combat and animations are horrible.

Worked good in Runescape, I think they could do great here that is if the didn’t drop the ball on them of course.
While we’re at it how about adding prayers?
As a human I have “Prayer to Dwayna”. Alas my 99 prayer means nothing here.
Oh something you guys seem to forget about this game is that you can always come back to it even if you try other games. Because of the free model and also the “casualness” of it. You never really have to do anything on this game besides the daily if you have done your own personal goals (map complete, story etc). Just keep up with the living story which is usually only a day or 2 worth of content (except where they time gate it like with the previous rubble for the halo/horns) and you are fine.
Why would you want GW to keep up? Anet refuses to make expansions, refuses to add raids. They did give us, what, 2 new dungeons, but then they took them away. Great game, terrible follow-up. Just let it go with dignity.
Naw it’s just in a slump and the devs are finding their footing still and such. It will pick up again, the problem is most of the people who say the kinds of things you say will probably be long gone to see it all turn around. The question will be: “will it be too little too late?”.
Oh and Anet are crazy when it comes to risk. Remember that they actually released their game shortly after SWTOR, together with TSW and TERA and before WoW’s pandaria.
They had to release it then as they touted the game was all about dragons and it was the “year of the dragon” etc. It was a major thing for them….would have been bad “karma” if they did not release then.
Don’t forget housing! I’ve said it before on here, not everything should involve killing in game. Enough with the 24/7 Lulz… skillz… tearz, crud! Some of us want to relax and build in game. Instead of running around raiding other people crops, give us our own place to plant and grow crops. There’s soooo… much more to life and games than what GW2 is limiting us to.
Time to expand the game in play style, not just more of the same!
This was always my problem with GW1 – 100% of the game being combat based and the reason I never played it for too long. I always went back to that other game that had a lot more content variety. I hoped like heck that they would have changed for the better here, and indeed their promises of a “living world” may have tricked me there. What they meant was story and not other content besides combat….. Sigh.
True fact: All of the terrible players on Guild Wars 2 are EX-Runescape Players.
Not so, I played that game for 12 years on and off and I do not consider myself terrible at this game at all….
But then again I do want to be a skritt so maybe that does say something after all….
Edit: I just noticed your name, funny how it’s in RS that they call it “player vs monsters” instead of like here and almost every other mmo where we call it PvE “player vs environment”. :P
(edited by Paulytnz.7619)
Run, escape I smell a Runescape player!
Uh oh, you saw what I did there….save me Saradomin!
Run, escape I smell a Runescape player!
I think the thing that would make this a “no” from Anet is that they seem to be too focused on “telling a story” or trying to push one on us and not bother with the game in it’s core or it’s other parts.
I think there’s also a risk with something like this attracting the wrong kind of people to this game and then it turning into something totally different to what was advertised in the 1st place (I know, I know many say this is already the case but we don’t want it 100% true tho right?) or what we know it as now. I saw this happen with my old game, well it was not so much the players fault more like the new companies who bought the game out but still.
Good idea but sometimes bad things come from good ideas…..
Skritt riding an asura riding centaur! It’s the only plausible choice….
There are some of us about. I play on Ebay but as others have said you might prefer to play on SoS as there’s probably a lot more of us there.
Well if you go human you get an extra heal skill. Using the human Prayer to Dwayna heal skill will give you an aoe F1 heal/regen skill as well. No other race gives this and I find it very helpful in some situations. Apart from that I can’t really think of any other advantages other races may give, not even elite wise.
(edited by Paulytnz.7619)
Ok, ok, ok, ok I just have to say it – SCARLETT there we go now that we have that out of our system (well mine at least anyways
) I just have to say that Redstar seems to be agreeing in some kind of way that the chests/key system is bad. So really, I don’t know why he/she is arguing against you. Why not just agree to agree the system is bad and needs to go? O.O
Ummm looks to me like you are just bowing……
I think there is a risk here of the lowest population servers losing MORE people. People on these servers who WvW may just move up to the highest ranked world that they can for free. Of course this will benefit those worlds but the worlds they are leaving are losing out.
Obviously this system was put in place hopefully to entice some people off the higher ranked worlds for free. They really did not think tho about players on the lowest servers moving up. Maybe they should have just lowered the price a bit instead of make it totally free for the players moving up and not down?
The people that do this method of farming do it for 2 reasons, maybe 3.
1 – It can be a nice break from the game and give you something different to do other than farm those mats for your legendary or whatever which can get tiring after a while. I also think of this as the same thing as when you go and buy a scratch ticket for a chance at a prize. There’s a good chance you are wasting your time/cash but there is also a chance you can earn something out of it worth that effort and at the end of it all either way it’s a quick thrill.
2 – The BLTC keys are not expensive when you look at their price at a glance. But when you look at your bank and see almost 2 complete stacks of keys just from general play (this is how many I have) and do the math on what it would cost to buy all of those keys you may think twice about buying them. Add to this it is a risky investment because of the RNG behind it all and if you don’t get a good item it can be junk (boosters/tonics pretty much). So yes you may want to farm these.
3 – The fact that any new weapon skin is pretty much ALWAYS tied to these chests/keys and that it is RNG (again see above 2 for this reason) you will see people try and play for those items without spending/risking money.
I used to farm BLTC keys myself and was probably one of the 1st people to do it. I also sent Anet a support ticket not long after the game came out asking if it was exploiting or not because I was worried it could affect the game in a negative way and gave them fair warning that other people will come to see and do it also in time. They replied back that it was perfectly fine. I still have their response saved somewhere too.
I have to admit there has been changes made atleast 2 times since then and I think they have taken the key farming into mind with both of these changes. I don’t farm keys anymore because I find it boring and rather spend my time outside of this game now when I’m bored in general within it. I am not sure if they have removed entirely the guild point rewards but I can tell you I am in a 2 person guild and have been pretty much since the start of this game with a friend from another game. Through my key farming I pretty much managed to open up the full banks due to my key farming and completing the story on my 8 chars. I think they have nerfed the guild point things in one of those patches obviously to help safeguard selling regular bank upgrade items in the future, which I think is a smart thing to do and I would have done the same.
So again I say they are aware people farm these things and they are probably putting in place things to safeguard things that could seriously be impacted from it all.
Lastly I want to say why I spent time rather than cash on BLTC keys. It wasn’t only the amount of cash (hundreds of dollars, maybe thousands by now) that I would have to spend to open all of those chests and the fact that I would probably get no where near my monies worth back for the cash spent. It’s also due to the fact that I do not support their method of bringing in new weapon/armour skins behind a lottery/gamble type system via RNG such as these keys/chests. I have spent hundreds of dollars in this game on other things that I felt were worth it. 6 or so extra chars, all bag slots opened up for 8 of my total chars, all bank tabs purchased initially (still need to buy a few more since the last update to that), 2 upgrades to the gathering resource upgrades, the krytan armour set, all unlimited gathering tools thus far, Deluxe set right at the start of the game; my list probably goes on and on tbh. My point is, those of us who do spend real cash in this game can be offended at some of the things they sell and how they sell them and as such will not SUPPORT those ways and will NOT purchase into them, hoping that they change how that is done in the future.
Summary, I am an ex key farmer who has no issues with others who do it but I don’t anymore due to the bordom of it all. I am also one that spends REAL cash in the game that has no issues with people who farm keys. So please OP, do not try and make this a case of “us” against “them”. That being those who spends rl cash vs those who don’t (those poor people as you call them).

So, just did the new updated Knights…..I went to green since it had the least amount of players, Red & blue went down green did not. Players at red & blue got loot, players at green didn’t.
Why gamble the unsure bet? I can see players now will go for the assured 100% kill (the knight w/most players), I know I will be.
Sounds like that needs to be fixed. I also went to green and funnily enough we had more people at red and blue yet if was blue that failed and I’m sure everyone got the chest who were at all colours. Probably a good thing to report this as a bug.
I suggested to my server that we still try to zerg it.
50 start at Blue.
Everyone left over goes to Green. When Blue goes down, Green moves to Red.
When Green goes down, Blue moves to Red.The only issue is what to do with the people at Red who can’t attune…
I guess if it gets to the point that you do kill 2 of them and then still have time to kill the 3rd and have more than 50 people, some of them can take a break and sit on the sidelines and they will still get paid for all 3 dead if you kill the 3rd.
Make sure to have any up leveled players to sit on the sidelines.
My server just attempted the knights with the new mechanic.
We didn’t defeat any of the knights. One of them was nearly dead. One possibly at 75-80%. One only had 5 players working on it.
That’s bad.
My server (Ebay) just killed 2 of the knights and blue only failed because of a possible bug with it being healed so fast from those healers and players not being able to see them or whatever.
I can confirm we got 6 boxes (seems to be 3 per boss now) for the work done and I only managed to help kill one. So everyone gets paid for all bosses killed. If you have less than 50 people use all those people at one boss and at least try to get 1-2 kills from running from one to the next if you can. If that’s a fail the only option I guess is to try to guest.
Good luck all!
Not only that but some servers at some times of the day can’t afford to split their people up as they don’t have enough people…..
Also does this mean you only get 1 reward if you kill 2 or even all 3 of the knights?
