PS: Why do people avoid the lesser races?

It’s more that the masses ignore the maps more than the races. The Sylvari and asura can be off-putting to some people because they are not as open, so moving around can be a little bit more tricky. Add to that the horrible looking mini maps for those maps and it just all adds up to avoid, avoid, avoid.

Im waiting for guild wars 3 . Hopefully they will delete zergs and bring good stuff from gw1 back.

No, No, No, No, NO! We don’t EVER want a new GW. They can just keep adding onto this for the next 20 years, upgrade the engine etc if needed, NO new version please.

Now to answer the question, none, besides maybe that Civ 5 MMO, looks – interesting.

I have soloed these events myself and also seen these issues with the oakhearts. However I do not blame them, I blame Anet for putting events in some locations where they will crossover into other events and/or mobs where they know they will also impede the said event.

Having said all that, sometimes the oakheart has even helped me to kill the bad guys on occasion so it’s not all that bad.

Newb Q About Grouping

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

The grouping is mainly for things like doing the dungeons and playing in WvW. It’s pretty rare that you will get a group invite for PvE unless someone really needs your help. Having said that you really don’t need to be in a group for most of the PvE. But if that floats your boat there are things that you can do to get that happening. You could join a guild that likes to PvE party to explore etc or you could just say in map chat that you are looking for a group to explore or whatever. If you are lucky you may get some interest there. You could also try the LFG system but tbh I think you would get even less response there than you would just asking in map chat.

With regards to where the community is, I guess most are doing what they enjoy the most which would be one of these:

WvW or sPvP – meaning you wont seem them unless you go there.

Running Dungeons/Fractals – again you wont see unless you keep your eyes on LFG.

Running champ trains – To see these people go to Queensdale/Frostgorge.

Exploring/roaming for the fun/achievements – you will see these people from time to time in various maps, but I would say they are by far the smallest part of the current community.

Anywho welcome to GW2 and good luck finding your party!

More options for alts

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I tend to disagree with this, this is my personal opinion I may add. I have 30 alts and never worried to much about anything I just play the way I want to as you do although some things are different if you have a lot of alts it does not interfere on how I play the game. every ones gameplay is different .

You say you want to have your alt on a budget as such ,just keep a note on what he/she makes in the game problem solved.

I have a lot of alts in exotic only does it worry me? not in the slightest that’s why I said everyone has a different views of how to play and react.

As far as laurels are concerned just do the same as I said re the bank/wallet then no action has to be taken by anet your gameplay is the same only YOU keep a record on how you wish to play my 2 cents worth may I add

Well I am with you as far as the cash system goes, it does not bother me but I have seen posts from others on the matter and I can certainly understand where they are coming from as well tho. Simply because when I play games I often tend to start from scratch exactly for those reasons.

As far as the laurels are concerned I am sort of on the fence. I don’t play this game as much as I used to now and I can simply (and do) play fine on my alts in even greens. Yet when it comes to the current system I just plainly can’t see why our alts should be hindered in such a way. I just see no purpose. I have all 8 classes at 100% world complete, I feel they have earned their right to be in ascended gears if they (me in reality of course :P) feel like working on them. Yet with the laurel system and other such time gates it makes that very hard to do so.

Like I said I don’t play as much as I used to now days and it’s NOT that important for me that they all don’t have said gears or not. But again I can still understand why others may have these issues that may still play a lot and who also feel they have already earned the right.

More options for alts

When the account wallet came it was a great thing and helped to solve a lot of problems and I as I am sure most people absolutely loved/love it. Yet in some cases I can see it can also bring a few negatives. 2 examples:

1 – Roleplayers who like to start a new char and feel like they progress with everything from scratch. That is gaining skills, levels as well as wealth. Having the account cash wallet here will get in their way.

2 – Certain time gated currencies such as laurels are a pain to get for all your alts. Simply because it would not be fair to other players who do not roll alts if we could use all of our alts to also gain said currencies multiple times which could then be exploited on our mains.

Personally I feel we should be allowed options where we can choose a few options to turn on/off what we can do with our alts. For example we could go into our wallet and check a box next to the cash amount that would turn off account wide cash for that alt in particular.

Now as for the laurel I am not sure how this could work since they are not in the wallet (refresh my memory, are they?). But where these are concerned I feel our alts should be allowed to also gain their own personal laurels each day. No I am NOT suggesting that we are allowed to run dailies over and over every day for our alts, lol, heck no. I am just saying when we do our dailies perhaps the game should keep track on each of our alts that it has been done for that day and they all get their share of laurels.

Now these would ALL be alt specific and not pooled. Meaning that each alt can ONLY use their own laurels and not other alts or the main’s. I think this is fair for those of us who run alts. This will not unbalance the game in any way and may help to alleviate/destroy some of these posts that claim this game is alt-unfriendly. Also these alt specific laurels could/should only be allowed to be used for gear and not consumables or any other vanity item such as minis, wvw lvl buying etc.

Summary, perhaps we need a few more options when it comes to currencies where alts/time gating is concerned. Not to unbalance the game in any way but to allow those of us with alts to keep up to pace with everyone else as well as our mains.

Just throwing this out there, I did have a lot more on the matter to say when it comes to alts and banking etc but I’ll leave that for now. :P

A new target option for parties

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could call out to our party which enemy that WE are going to attack? Sure right now the current system is ok and works in 99% of the cases. That is someone calls out a target and everyone aims for that target until it’s dead.

Yet I think this could and and should be opened up more and it might even help the devs to rethink boss mechanics in the future.

My idea is that the current system remains and we also get a new option to call out personal targets. We could use alt+t or whatever to do so. What would then happen is a P1-P4 would show above the enemies head. Lets say the first party member on your list does this, then a P1 would appear. Now lets say party member 3 also targets the same mob or boss, then a P3 would also appear above the bosses head. You could then have the rest of the party target other enemies and say who/which.

Why would we want something like this? Well right now I can think of 3 reasons or examples:

1 – There is a current boss in fractals well 2 bosses if I recall correctly (perhaps even 3?) where you have to lower all of their hp at the same rate so they die at the exact same moment. Now with my idea you could have 2 party members attack each one (if there is 2 and not 3) and the 5th member could continuously switch between the 2 making sure the HP is similar and attacking which ever needs a bit of balance.

2 – sPvP/WvW, I’m pretty sure most people that use the party system will target a called out target and all will hunt that said target down until killed. There maybe the case this changes when/if a party member sees that someone else may need pressure on them so it’s easier for the group to kill the original target. Again this is where my idea could come in. Your group comes in on 3 people, there is an obvious oppnt that might need to be taken out first (weakest looking or most threatening). Target them with the normal target system, then any designated party members could also say which enemies they will target to keep the pressure on them.

3 – Future boss design could have anet taking this new target system into account and create bosses or groups where more targets need to have pressure on them at once to be taken down or they all have to go down together similar to above (no.1).

Now of course right now a lot of people use TeamSpeak and other chat programmes that could already be doing a lot of what I am saying here. That’s great but with this idea added to that it could even speed up those communications. Simply by allowing everyone to communicate right away on screen which target they are meaning when something said in chat is said.

Well that’s my idea, thoughts?

Rank 30 WvW Required for Gift of Battle Grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

While we’re at it let’s force the wvw’ers to get rank 20 in spvp to get their gift of battle. It’s only fair.

Getting a legendary should have NOTHING to do with sPvP. Why? Simple: you can’t use your legendary in sPvP. If they change that, sure. But otherwise sPvP and PvE/WvW are two completely different worlds.

On-topic, I think the r30 is a good ideea BUT it should have been implemented from the start. Everyone should have been forced to get to r30 in order to craft a legendary. As it is, people wanting to craft one now are at a disadvantage compared to people who already did it, and that is not nice on the part of ANet. However, since you can just buy your ranks with 60 laurels and some badges of honor, of which you have about ten million billion about now due to achievement chests, this should definitely not be a problem; your legendary will simply cost 60 laurels more, which is very little compared to the total amount needed. 60 laurels is ~50g, I would say.

Let’s not forget that legendaries are prestige items and the quest to obtain them should be… well… worthy of legend? It should take you through all the aspects of the game (PvE and WvW, not sPvP for the reason above) before you can craft them. And legendaries should be account bound on crafting IMO; they should not be tradeable on the TP. Precursors yes, but not the legendaries. It takes a lot from their awesomeness that you can just buy them with a credit card. They should have more components that require actual gameplay to obtain, not a credit card.

I was just 20 shards away from making my first legendary weapon. I don;t want and never wanted to play www. I play gw since the begining, 8 and a half years ago. Today i quit. Forever. Thanks arenanet, you’re the best. I’ll make sure every one on every single forum in this internet knows what you just did to us.

I’m sorry, mate, but this is ridiculous. They added a cost of 60 laurels to the ~2k gold you need to spend to make a legendary. Granted, it sucks, but it’s not the end of the world.

Hmmm but this is changing soon, so perhaps this may happen. Soon we will be able to use any and all pve skins we have in sPvP and visa versa. Please lets not give them any more ideas lol.

You casual peasants complain about this like if it would take ages to get rank 30 on WvW. You get rank 30 in a week or less. You guys are pathetic.

I’m rank 170+ and I love to WvW just for the fun of it. I just don’t see the point in this if you don’t need rank 30 to buy said items off the TP or to equip them or whatever. It’s just silly really. All it will do is to promote buying legendaries off the TP for those who don’t like to WvW.

Legendaries require many other items that are not available on the TP besides a lvl 30 wvw rank , does that make it silly too? I dont see anyone complaining for those.

Edit: I love how you changed from 110 rank to 170, pretty legit stuff. You sound believable.

Well I checked my rank and saw it was far higher than I thought and I do like to be precise with my facts, nothing wrong with that. Look I have no problem with this 30 rank thing as long as they ALSO include it to those who already have a legendary. Would you really be against there being a requirement for those who have a legendary to also have to have level 30 to equip it? If so why? Why not the fairness?

lol, yes. I’m sure people will elect to farm 3000 gold rather than follow a commander in WvW for a week.

Well if you tie into that all the other fiddly bits of creating a legendary such as all the needed mats, getting your hands on a precursor, getting craft levels up. All of that WITH now having to get rank 30 for those who dislike WvW, yes, yes I can see how it might seem a little bit more attractive to some people.

I still don’t see how given that you either have to zerg up or wait 3+ weeks to complete the wvw map to get the exploration gifts anyway.

This reply just proves my point, by adding another thing to my list that people have to go through lol. Clearing the wvw maps. If Anet keeps adding more and more little things like these that frustrate players of course to some it might seem more attractive to just farm the gold instead to get the shiny rather than go through all these annoying little hoops.

i’ve wanted a pink commander tag since day one.. just on the map though, i’d pay gems for it z_z and other colors obviously

I would like a green one and a shield looking icon one so people know that I like to actually HOLD objectives in WvW. If they gave us different looking tags for different uses it could really help things, a few examples:

Shield – lets players know you like to build up towers/keeps and defend them so others may come and help do that.

Question mark – could be a good one for PvE for players who like to “mentor” others or who don’t mind answering questions from new players etc.

I’m sure there’s many they could come up with, in fact this was all discussed last year and I’m sure they had promised it was coming “soon” in one of their replies way back then and never came. :s

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/Ability-to-Pan-Camera-Upwards/first

I touched on this topic a few months back. It is important to see the ground for AOE based skills but for me the epicness of a fight is lacking when half of the boss/mob is obscured by its own name tag.

The First Person Mode introduced soon will definitely help but I cant see why a height adjuster couldnt be implemented.

I think the issue you may be facing with enemy mobs being covered by their name tag could be related to the size or quality of your screen.

Example I usually have no issues at all on my PC screen. However one day I decided to hook my pc up to my regular TV screen to see what the difference is. It’s my xbox/ps3 gaming tv which is a 32 inch. Anywho the best resolution I could get was NOT good. I got the exact same issues you seem to describe with mobs being covered by their name (it seems a lot lower on the screen than right at the top (like my PC screen is). Also I could only have the minimap at half the usual size (which now I know why in so many people’s vids and screenshots I see they have it at said size). Lastly and the worst of all the chat window was not right in my left hand corner as I am used to it but slightly above it which was totally horrid.

You may want to look into changing your screen if you are getting any of the issues here I described or if you are using unusual size/brand.

I’ll post 2 pics to explain what I mean, 1st my reg then second the TV, huge difference.

All I have to say about all this and the camera issues is that I have every class and race covered. What I have noticed from them all is that playing on my Asura the camera seems zoomed out the most and maybe even far too far. Yet the bigger races like Charr and Norn it’s the exact opposite, the camera seems too far zoomed in. Surely it should but the other way around no!?

I understand this has nothing to do with you wanting the camera up at a slightly higher POV but I just thought I had to pop that in there for what it’s worth lol.

What I have heard read and seen its a toss up to what will happen. I know someone who gave his brother 2k gold to help buy his legendary. They both ended up having there accounts suspended while Anet looked into the matter. I think it took a few days but they both got there accounts back.

My understanding is the entire system is automated and any time its sees any unusual transactions it flags the account and blocks it.

I have also heard of people on these forums having there accounts blocked after large sums of gold are transferred. I have also heard of people having no problem sending large amounts of gold.

I guess its kinda a roll of the dice to what will happen. Chances are thought if your blocked the account will be unblocked in a few days you gotta just wait for them to look into it.

Also don’t bother contacting customer support. I posted a ticket last month some time. I am still waiting on my response.

Also if u do what the above poster said there is a 2 message per hour limit.

Customer support is usually good and will contact you, you will NEVER wait over a month unless you just spammed them or some such. I have had to deal with them on a fair few occasions now and was always helped out. I suggest you check the spam folder in your email account or keep an eye on it very often if contacting support. They will always contact you fast (within a day usually).

Thief – Crossbow -I know most people would say it should be for ranger but I think it could be a good option for a new mid range build for thieves.

Engi – Tommygun – I am serious.

Warrior – Well these guys already have a lot of weapons but if I would have to add something new for them hmmmm, why not a boomerang just for the heck of it!?

Guardian – Throwing orbs – these could be a cool new missile weapon with each skill having a different effect.

Necro – Whip, nothing needs to be said, it would just suit them and their evil ways.

Ele – This class seriously needs a melee weapon that acts as a melee weapon, a morning star might be a good option here. Think The Cable Guy with Jim Carey chasing that guy and screaming like a nutter lol.

Mesmer – I’m thinking this class needs a missile weapon that acts as a missile weapon and not a melee weapon with a “magical” missile effect coming from it such as their current Greatsword for example. A spear or any such type of weapon could be a good choice.

Ranger – hmm something to make them seem cool to the general population since for some reason so many people hate them currently. Well they do use axes already so why not make this the first class to use Great Axes (2 handed weapons). Seems like a good choice to me.

How can we still not have that?

The Escape key works for me to deselect targets as well as close windows. Perhaps you changed the setting for that?

QoL improvement - Keybind consumables?

I would be happy with a slot (or 3, 1 for food, another for oils and the 3rd for that other item, potion or whatever) for consumables in our inv screen or even on the screen that we could drag our items into and it would AUTO consume whenever the effect runs out. How many times have I died in WvW because my food has run out just a few minutes or seconds ago and I didn’t realise I wonder, too many…..

Card Game suggestion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

Yeah I’m with you and have had the same idea now for a long time. The only reason I never posted it was because the game mentioned is obviously now competition for this game. Even tho the stated games were not MMO’s and were solo play games which these card games featured in, the franchise as such is the competition.

But again yes I agree and would LOVE such mini games like these that the other said game featured through out the series. Now I would like to add just one small suggestion to this. Every player starts off with a small handful of cards (enough to play a game with of course) and every player has 1 card that features their own character! Of course this said card would have average or slightly better stats than an average card so that it would only be used for a short period of time until they get more powerful cards.

Lets make this happen! Oh and what about players who play against each other, could they set bets or a prize? O.O

Can you give a little more lore about waypoints and how they work exactly?

I mean portals are different and easy to understand. You go to a portal at point A and it sends you to the other end at point B.

However waypoints you can somehow “teleport” to from anywhere. How does this happen? Do we pull out some kind of communication device and say “beam me up Gadd” or some such? To which he is waiting for us on some flying airship and then swoops down to get us and then takes us directly to our destination.

Well this is the best example/idea I can think up. I am sure you guys can some up with something more creative than this but I would really like some idea.

The animation of the new pick is not so great in my opinion. It’s just a green blob, this is probably why they added the sprocket thing to it so people wouldn’t complain about how plain the animation is….

Where are people farming for gold?

I’m surprised no one is dissing farming yet. The common player here doesn’t understand that purposive activity in a game is not problem behavior.

Actively making an effort to be intentionally inefficient is problem behavior though.

You mean like a ranger knocking a target around the battlefield so that no one can touch it?

Why are only rangers blamed for this? Engi’s and other classes have knockbacks too….

[Suggestion] Less waypoints, more mounts

Same answer every time someone brings this up. If you want to walk then go do it! Why must you force everyone else to waste their time as well? Who is forcing you to use a waypoint? There is also not that much to explore. There is the occasional interesting looking locations but those usually just end in … nothing.

You are attempting to create the gaming equivalent of a protection racket. Create a problem so you can provide the solution for it.

What is this whole obsession with mounts? -_-

You may as well ask pet owners/lovers why they like to have pets. I’m sure it’s kind of the same thing just game-wise to speak lol. And no, minis don’t cut it…

It also cuts into how people DID travel back in times of what we would usually consider our dark/middle ages for these types of games. So to a lot of people not having mounts/travel options as such kind of breaks that immersion for them.

Me, I came from a game that had no mounts (well I did play PW for a while but that’s not what I mean) and where everyone instead used magic spells to teleport anywhere they needed to be. No fuss, just go go go. So for me mounts here would be a novelty, not needed but maybe something new to have/see.

Well how about the protection racket thing? This is basically the same. I’ll break your legs so I can sell you this awesome wheelchair.

Of the games I’ve played with mounts they didn’t add anything to the experience. Just a way to draw out the play time. At least some of them have the courtesy of allowing you to just set a destination and then you can basically go AFK as your character slowly(relative to waypointing pretty much everything is a slow walk) walks over.

I hardly think that if Anet ever added mounts to the game and giving us the OPTION to aquire them is the same thing as a bunch of thugs coming in and saying give us money or face physical violence/death. Seriously that is so far off the mark. Sure OTHER games may have made traveling in them without mounts unbearable, but surely you should know by now that GW2 is not like those OTHER games.

Well for a start mounts giving a speed boost of 25% would be pointless since pretty much almost every class has a trait or signet that gives this. So the boost from a mount would have to be more or they would have to give some other reasons for having/using them.

As for waypoints, you said people don’t explore because they use a shorter way to get to an event. TBH no one would want to explore if chasing down an event anyway. What we need here are more reasons to explore tbh.

I do like your idea of expansions bringing in a greater surface area and I too would prefer less waypoints in any such new area. Perhaps even thin the mobs out to create a real wilderness feel to them. Make it seem like you are off in a far off place and that it is far, far, far from anywhere and takes some time to get there. Of course the rewards for getting to said places should be worth the trek. I don’t what but they should be there.
