No ty. Open world in GW2 is all about people helping each other and welcoming seeing other players. It is a nice environment.

Yes I know you and everyone else who suggests this say it will be “optional”. But even if so, we would still see the effects of it in game. Players fighting other players all over the place. Trash talking and just the toxic behavior that comes from that sort of playstyle. You already see enough of this when doing PvP or just sitting in the pvp lobby for long enough.

We really do not need to see this in open world pve or attract more of these toxic kind of players to the open world environment that we all know and love.

If anything this feature that we saw in the new map/story is an in joke by anet and poking their tongue at those who have asked for this sort if thing in the past. Sadly however I fear it may only have given them more ammunition to keep asking and hoping lol.

What was the point of resetting hearts ?

A repeatable gold/karma source. Plus, it allows said karma vendors to have a once-a-day item to sell to players (the 3 petrified woods).

I hate to sound harsh to the OP, but you’re going to have to let your OCD completionist writhe in agony. Short of the hearts changing colour after finally completing the map, I don’t think there’s a good strategy to fix your itchy trigger finger. The fire islands are in a corner of the map, anyway. Just don’t look there.

The problem here of course is that for someone like me who has a lot of alts if the 100% keeps on dropping each day it may be hard to keep track of/remember which of my alts have done this map fully and received the map reward.

They need SOMETHING there on the map UI to give us this info. Either keep the % at 100% if you have done it once and got the reward or have a message saying something like “map complete rewarded”.

This map while still new needs a fair bit of polish and this is just 1 example of that.

Carnival Weapons

I think alot of people missed the point the OP-posed. The issue isn’t how nice/ugly the set is. It’s ludicrously priced, drop a 0 then sure, that’s reasonable, if you want a comparison consider t3 cultural items, they are probably the most premium armor/weapons available for purchase in the game and they don’t even hit half-way the cost of the carnival ones.

This patch has been a big step backwards as far as monetisation goes. 1k gold jester weapon set, new scribe decos that cost 9500 fractal relics, ascended armor/weapons in the fractal lobby more expensive than the actual craft price, fractal tonic costing 1500 pristines instead of being an achievement reward for completing all fractals lvl 1-100.

There has been alot of strange choices with regards to costing. Whether it gives you an achievement or not, whether you think they are ugly or not, the price is too high comparatively.

It’s not unreasonably priced — it’s about the same price as BL skins sets on the TP, on average (that’s before the karma discount).

  • Total costs: 1700 gold; Average: 106 g
  • With karma discount: total = 1360g; avg = 85
  • For comparison, the Zodiac set has an average TP cost of ~84 gold
  • 10 sets currently cost less than that (on average, per weapon); 14 sets are more than 110g on average

These are exotics, whereas BL skins are …just skins and T3 cultural weapons are rares (and sell for karma, not gold).

The problem here of course with this comparison is that the TP skins value is driven by supply and demand and will change accordingly due to that. The prices of these wont change ever unless anet decides to change them.

Having said that I still hope that they drop in this map as was said before the release of the map about some kind of wep drops being only acquired this way.

Having said that tho I think the prices are fine.

I’m pretty sure before the release they said this map will have new weapons that are only obtained by drops….

Perhaps we CAN get them from drops but the vendor is there as a backup option for those who complain about RNG?

Besides all that I actually like most of this set. They have impressed me more than a lot of the recent Gemstore ones. But of course, to each their own.

As a condi Ele I hate the trebs when someone is on it from the other team. So I will always ask my teammates to wipe it if someone starts using it as my condi build will take far too long to do so.

I would prefer if you removed the Treb altogether or simply let conditions effect it if not.

Also I think the clocktower needs an update with regards to the camera! Since the action cam came in this place can be a REAL nightmare if you have your settings set to fully zoomed out. When inside the clocktower you cant see anything as your view is obstructed by the camera being outside the building. VERY, VERY, VERY bad! Only workaround atm is to zoom all the way in which is pretty much just as bad as you are seeing far less of the area than you are used to seeing and do miss important things.

I find opening bags on lower lvl alts can help a great deal here. It keeps you with a nice balance of Tier 5/6 and below if you open on the correct lvl alt for what you need.

Having said that I wish they would add Seaweed to more of the level 80 maps! Why is it only on 2-3 maps? There could have been some added to Ember Bay!

I shouldn’t need to play on alts to get mats. That’s a bodge to get around a broken system, not a feature.

Oh I do agree. There should be some alternatives. In the past I have suggested offering a system similar to the upgrade system we currently have via the Mystic Forge. That is let us downgrade for example tier 5 mats to Tier 4 etc etc. This would at least give us another option.

There is actually a seaweed farm in Ember Bay. Here’s a video someone made showing where it is.

Ember Bay seaweed farm

@ the OP: I open up all containers on a level 53 char. I find that gives me a good supply of mid range mats. It’s rather a workaround and requires tying up a character slot but you’ll get those midrange mats that way.

That’s awesome, thanks for the info! For my 2 person guild seaweed was becoming a problem for those speed upgrades, now thanks to this – no problem!

I think I am going to stay well clear from doing this achieve until they put in a fix for it. Who knows some people may get banned here……

Sure you may not be making a bank or anything out of it by using this exploit but an exploit is an exploit and under the rules still at risk of a ban. I have delivered 3-4 apples so far too, the intended way. Guess I’m gonna have to wait.

No one is going to get banned over this. Bans only result when people abused an exploit in a way that hurts the game for others (which could include repeatedly advertising it or just using it over and over again). Even in the most controversial mass-suspensions, only a subset of those taking advantage of a loophole in the game mechanic were affected. The cutoff for karma weapons was, I think more than 50 forges (200 weapons) and for snowflake trinkets it as about 50 salvages.

I think it’s fine and perhaps even admirable for you to make a personal decision to avoid doing it, for whatever reasons you have. Still, let’s not exaggerate the situation.

I am not exactly exaggerating. For me it’s more of a “why take the risk?”.

If something is against the rules, yet even if the “exploit” or whatever you may want to call it seems justifiable (which I have seen people use as an excuse in map chat because the task is annoying/hard otherwise according to them) why take that risk?

Why give someone with the power to ban you a good reason or excuse to for whatever reason they may want to using this as the reason? I just wouldn’t. Also in other games I have seen people banned for similar things as this, so again why take the risk, it’s just not worth it.

Lastly for those of you who are like me and will do this task the intended way here are 2 tips:

1 – If you have done the story talk to the ringmaster after obtaining an apple. You will be able to glide from here to Hal within a very reasonable time frame.

2 – If you have not done the story yet there is another option. Use the tube near the WP near the apples and you will be shot through to the Skull near the Jades. From here you can glide SE safely to Hal.

I believe these 2 methods were the intended way to complete this achievement.

Ill try and find the dev response about dyeing weapons. It is a massive job to go back and add dye channels, which would generate a large patch and potentially some serious bugs. It was likely not chosen at launch to cut down workload.

I would say too that they had legendaries in mind and with all their special effects dying those would just not be possible. I expect anet expected most people to get them in time so the dying of weapons really would not have been such a big demand. Yet we see this topic come up now and again.

Nope leave it alone. Getting to level 80 and completing your PS is all that is needed progression wise.

Everything else on top of that is “bonus” stuff that we can do at “our” leisure/pace.
I have all 9 classes made with all stories and maps complete. Each time a new story chapter comes I have to run them all through it. If artificial padding was added to drag that out I would not be happy.

Yes maybe I do spend too much time here but that’s not to say that everyone else should be punished simply because another person rushes through the content and then has nothing else to do. I would say to those people to try an extra alt or 2. Work on achievements and such. Or heaven forbid take a break and play something else or a while.

But whatever you do, don’t force stuff on other players simply because YOU run out of things to do. Learn some self restraint or use your initiative. Anet already does too much hand holding here, the last thing we need is more of that.

[Suggestions]we can lock item

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paulytnz.7619

Invisible bags are useful but when you switch out two one handed weapons for a two handed weapon one will go in the two handed weapon slot and the other will go into the first open inventory slot, which means it’s possible to sell it. I sold an ascended weapon to a vendor once when my game lagged during selling. I got it back because I reviewed my sales to merchant but a don’t sell mark on it would have stopped that.

You just need to leave a space in your inventory after the two-handed weapon – if you swap a two-handed weapon for a main and off hand, the main hand will go into the space vacated by the two-handed weapon, and the off hand weapon will go into the space to its right, if empty.

Except, any loot you get automatically fills up the first available space. So this only works if you don’t get any loot. If you’ve been running around for a while and want to switch a two-handed weapon to 2 one-handed weapons, it’s highly likely that space you trying to keep free is already filled up with something that dropped for you in the meantime. So your suggestion doesn’t work very well in practice.

This is why I keep my invisible bag at the bottom – the spare spots for swapping to two-handed weapons only get filledwith junk when I’m completely out of space.

But then the off-hand weapon gets punted to the first available space.

Frankly, I think the developers need to make it so that Invisible Bags are always last to fill with junk, and immune to inventory compacting. – They’re the bags you put your important stuff in, and it’s, from a player-convenience perspective, best to have that at the top of the screen so it’s readily available as soon as you open your inventory.

I use weapon Boxes for my extra weps. All of my chars carry around with them every weapon that they can use. They are kept in strong boxes at the top of my inventory but I keep them compacted as I very rarely switch weps.

So no ty for the “immune to compact” suggestion. I do use toilet paper or some other junk as space fillers in those boxes and if I do switch out say 2 weps for a 2 handed one I simply just move one of those place holder toilet papers before doing so. Granted it can be a headache at times, mainly for Ele’s/Engi’s tho…

Player Housing? anytime soon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paulytnz.7619

How many people in this game would be happy to have to pay a monthly rent for a house?
I suspect the answer is next to none which means the deserted cities problem comes back.
Player housing is a big project for the Game devs, so there has to be some kind of return for Arenanet for introducing it.
It would either have to be some kind of continuous rent , or a large capital cost in gems.

Who says anything about having to pay rent? One game I played that had housing had no rent system.

The benefit Anet can get from it is by having new skin items on the gemstore. They could be the house itself or decorations for it. Ever see a Sims game? Many, many options there from basic things like wallpapers, flooring etc etc.

People are already sick of back items (so many wings), gliders, minipets, wep sets. New options are always welcome. :P

Toughness and Vitality

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I do still like the Toughness stat. Sadly tho even in PVE now it is starting to lose its shine. With the Cond improvements Toughness is starting to lose its use. Condis (yes even from mobs!) are just hitting you through all that toughness. So without a good HP pool and plenty of cleanse/regen/heals Toughness is even less useful now than it used to be on it’s own.

Don’t get me wrong my main always used PVT until just recently (3 days ago he finally finished his zerk ascended to go along side his PVT ascended) and I do still like to feel tanky by being able to survive vs mobs of enemies. But like I said, if you go up against mobs with a lot of condis (which we are starting to see more and more of in the newer maps) it is starting to lose it’s shine.

I certainly do not agree that the OPs suggestions are the answer for that. But I do think the system can be looked at more. In the past I was thinking perhaps it could give you an extra dodge if you had xx amount of toughness. However I don’t think that’s a good idea either but perhaps something like that, maybe toughness and stability could/should be related? Say you have xx amount of toughness – BOOM you get a stability stack similar to Engi’s trait from Flamethrower.

I like that idea as these new mobs not only are getting a lot more conds but they also are getting a lot more control skills. Not only that our control skills are starting to be less effective what with break bars and mobs that are totally immune to them.

I agree that there was a short time where some maps were giving Map Rewards a second time. It must have been fixed shortly thereafter (next patch, maybe), as I took some characters to those maps afterwards and received no rewards.

I first brought this up just before xmas when I discovered it. I reported it both in game and then on the forums. My computer then died and so I was without one and could not play the game for about 2-3 months. I bought a new computer and came back and thought this should be fixed now. Nope, I managed to get the rewards from about 4-5 maps AGAIN on about 6-7 of my alts who had all done world completes well and truly beforehand.

I’m not sure what triggered the bug and if it only applies to certain accounts/chars. Maybe I could get the rewards again because on those chars I had originally got the map rewards 2-3 years ago well and truly before that bug came in and they fixed it? Maybe people who had completed the maps just a little bit before then didn’t get the rewards a second time.

I really don’t know. But I do akin the situation to that situation where some of us got our first birthday gifts more than once for each char due to a bug. At that point I had all 8 classes made and so they all got the gifts on the first birthday. A bug happened and anet fixed it but they could not stop some of us being rewarded more than once per char. Result was I had about 14 mini Jenna’s and multiple boosters which I really shouldn’t have. Just a side effect of what happened and they couldn’t do anything to fix it. I think this might be a similar situation tbh. And it may only affect some people.

I am sorry but YOU are incorrect. I have world complete on 11 chars now. I could NEVER see my own star on any of those chars. Everyone else can see the star on my char tho.

If you want to test this, message me in game and I will take a screen shot of your char, I bet you I will see the star. However YOU will never be able to see the star on your own char.

As you can see in the pic below: I have 22 gifts of exploration and you can see no star above my char. This is my main char who was the first to get world complete. So if the star was ever visible to us it would be there – but it never has been, only to other people.

Don’t forget we could never even see our own name let alone anything else. It was only recently that anet has allowed us to even see what we can see. I guess they think it’s not important for us to see our own stars or that it would be too much clutter.

I told him to check by asking a friend and he said no one else can see it.

No one including myself can see my medal

Yeah I know, good chance tho if he asked any “random” person in game or even a “friend” that they could be trolling or not even sure what he’s asking them to look for lol.

But it could be as others have said. There may be a bug where other’s can’t see it as well. But either way, no matter what he will not get what he wants which is him being able to see it on his char. Not unless anet implements it anyways as it’s not in there yet for any of us.

You can lose the 100% but you cannot lose the star attached to your character name that earned it.

Show a screenshot of the same character that has 100% world completion.

Also, likely not the case but I feel like it should be brought up anyway, if you earned 100% map completion several years ago, getting 100% again doesn’t do anything.

You are correct it does nothing. However going back and completing the maps with new things on them WILL give the map reward again.

I noticed this when HOT came out as I took all my chars through their maps updating them getting ready for them to do HOT. They ALL got the map rewards again even when it was only an extra POI or WP here or there.

I reported it on the forums and in game as a bug. I still doubt anything has been done about it. It felt kind of exploitative.

Interesting, I guess.

But I can’t help but laugh at the byline: “The temperature in Tyria is rising, will we be consumed by the flames.” Seriously, I know the drama is for effect, but essentially if NOBODY plays the content, nothing at all bad will happen…anywhere. I guess that’s true in any game, but still…makes me chuckle.

So true!

Queensdale will still have the same bandits attacking that poor farm and those same bears continuing to steal that honey…..

You might be confusing Wooden Potatoes (a v-blogger) with Dulfy (a guide-site manager). Dulfy was indeed suspended for a period of time, because her account received goods from someone who had purchased gold from a Real Money Trader. At the time, ANet’s policy was to suspend both the account of the sender and of the receiver, while they worked out what happened. Once Dulfy explained the situation (a fan donation, unsolicited), ANet restored her account; she deleted the relevant item; and ANet named a fractal NPC after Dulfy as a way of apologizing/thanking her for all her work for the community.

Still, there was no disagreement about what constituted an exploit or whether the donor violated the ToS.

Actually I think you may be correct but not the way you think you are. I was sure it was WP who had posted a thread very early in the game and then had a link to a Youtube vid. I have searched for the source but it seems it was someone else, another blogger. If you would like the link send me a private message.

If you mean you can’t see it on your char, if it was ever there they have removed it. All you can see there now is your pvp rank. However of course other people will see the star on your char.

BTW your map is complete as it matches my numbers exactly and mine is totally complete.

That’s all that matters, nothing more, nothing less. Now, lets just hope this indicates they will be a new playable race with the next expansion!!!!

A new race is actually quite unlikely, even in an expansion. Wooden Potatoes had a good reasoning of why in one of his videos, but it basically boils down to the amount of content that would have to be produced for a new race is just too much. New classes, specializations, masteries…sure, all possible in the current format of the game. New race, not so much.

Indeed. A new race would need the following:
-Capital City
-Starter Area
-Personal story quests (up until lvl 30)
-Cultural armor/weapons
And if It’s a non-humanoid race like the Tengu, a lot of new animations. They also have to make altered versions of every single armor in the game so they fit the tengu.

And that comes on top of actually creating the race itself. In other words, it’s very unlikely.

Oh yee of little faith.

- A capital City would not be hard to add. Last expansion they gave us 2 HUGE guild hall maps. You really think a Capital city would be too much work? Besides we are well over due for a new city that is actually inhabited by “people”.

- Starter area might actually be welcome to a lot of people. Who says new maps have to always be level 80+ zones/content? Again a new map or 2 is not too difficult to do. They have also mentioned that new heart quests are coming with this next map. Again that to me is hopefully an indication of returning back to old content – thus new lowbie maps with hearts, which by the way people have been asking for, for some time now.

- Personal Story quests to level 30 would not be too much work. But it would certainly be worth the pay off if it is. Altaholics would buy a new char slot for that of course and that would also extend game content a bit more there.

- They could do culture amours to only 3 sets, one for each weight class. 3 of each was not needed in the first place if you ask me. Also remember that ALL races get to use the cultural weapons so that’s nothing much new. It would be the same as any new set they are constantly bringing in via the Ticket system, except this time it will cost Karma or whatever.

Oh and btw the improvised weapons they brought into the game could have been the perfect cultural weapon set for this race. In fact when it came out alarm bells went off in my head, could it be……finally? What they could do is simply say “now that Skritt are a playable race we have changed the improvised weapon set to be their cultural set. No more will you have to spend Tickets to buy this set!”

- They may not need to add as many animations as you may think. Some of you overlook the fact that many of these races already do engage in combat in the game. So some exist already, lets not forget that.

Classes are done in my opinion, no more are needed. So what else is left that fans have been wanting for a long time? New playable races.

Before the last expansion people were always asking for a new class to finally flesh out the current ones so there could be one for each weight class. If they were to add more classes I would say they would have to do 3 again just to keep that balance. That to me would be far more work than a new race. Not to mention more headaches for balancing.

We have guild halls now. Yes they have said there will be more in future expansions. But the basics are done there, the system is in place. We got gliding last time. They have to give us something new and cool to keep us excited besides just new story. Sure there could be player housing finally….but it would not surprise me tbh if we got both or in the least just 1 (house or new race).

Anet do like to give cool new things to play with and they definitely like to surprise us. So again I say, I wouldn’t be surprised if finally……..playable Skritt! :P

PS, I think some of you think that Anet shy away from hard work or would rather not do it. Yet, I have seen the opposite from them, so again I say – of yee of little faith! :P

If you have HOT Rev is pretty good for Boons. You can keep up any of the below for 100% of the time if you manage them correctly:

Regen
Might
Fury
Protection
Swiftness

I would also suggest before making your choice to go to the PvP lobby to try it out. There you can test out all traits/skills and builds as you are classed as lvl 80 there.

Try the Bloodstone Fen map. You can buy them for 100 Unbound Magic from the vendor there. Easiest way to farm them imo.

Oh that’s if you have HOT of course. Sorry I assumed you did since you said you were trying to farm DS which I took to meaning Dragon Stand, my bad.

Risk and Reward?

Now you get to enjoy the breaks from gw2 as they get longer while the times you actually play get shorter.

If you hate the people that play GW2 so much, why are you even still here?

Because playing the forums is more fun than the actual game, it’s why you are here too though your welcome to attempt to deny this. You CHOSE to comment on someone whose view differed from yours rather than play the game you enjoy even though their view has no bearing on yours. XD

I never said the current season/system was perfect. Indeed at this point for PvP it is horrid. My main point was the modes are usually good and rewards in themselves just for playing (when they are working great before anet tries to push them too hard on to EVERYONE by adding shiny shinies that can only be obtained there).

It’s not about whether the season is perfect or not. Had the original reward system stayed in place pvp would have been a even more desolate area. If you even take a moment to view the season you’ll see that the divisions are locked and you don’t even lose tiers until ruby… where is the risk? It’s reduced considerably because we know what would occur if there was any indications that players weren’t as good as they thought – thus most of this game is blob oriented.

I don’t agree with you that the fun is not there anymore or that the place is deserted. It’s still there for people who purely play the mode for that, sure there may be less people playing “ranked”. But you can’t tell me that you can’t still play in the unranked matches and not have fun. There is also the private rooms/maps as well which I am sure many people have fun in. It’s not ALL about ranked and any rewards that or even the reward chests bring.

I stand by my original remarks that fun rewarding gameplay can actually come from just the fun of doing what you are doing and not just some carrot on the end of a stick that you will never reach or have to grind for.

You can disagree with me of course, that is your right but I would say that’s probably because you are biased more towards the rewards side of it.

It’s not fun rewarding gameplay either and this isn’t talking about the end of match rewards. There is an increase in low risk builds as a result on the increase in passive traits. It is not even remotely fun to play against a player who can make multiple errors but still be ok due to this high sustain. Pvp has essentially gone from player vs player to plaver vs passives.

No im not really biased at all – I’ve played all game modes.

Merely suggesting hotjoin being fun indicates no further point on this side of the descussion as those are the players that zerg or double cap.

Replying to that in bold:

It must be fun to some people as they are still playing it. I don’t believe for one minute that EVERY single person is forcing themselves to play (be that ranked or unranked) simply for the rewards. Most people would give up after a while for the share bordom/grind if they don’t find the mode somewhat fun.

I am one person that does play for just the fun of it and I am sure I am not alone. So really all you are giving is opinion.

This works, I made a complete set of Exotics for my main doing this.

If everyone who has ever received a spam whisper from gold sellers noticed, everyone of them seems to have 17 AP. I can’t think of one that I’ve seen that ever had more than that in the last 4 years. Maybe there is a way to restrict whispers based on something like that.

The problem there is they would probably just resort to try stealing more accounts obviously with AP points. That really does not help a lot.

Wow I overlooked that some people go into “offline” mode. I have not needed to yet. But thank you guys for bringing that up, so it reinforces what I said earlier. Dealing with this spam the ways we do now (very limited) can actually makes us less sociable atm.

Another small example is when you are chatting with friends through guild chat, or whispers or even strangers in map or say. Then bang you are hit with an unwanted whisper, be that gold selling or just from someone you don’t know it does not matter. It interrupts your current conversation.

Yes if its gold selling you can quickly block/report and continue on. But how many times do you have to do this since you seem to be on these people’s “lists” before you get fed up with it as they are jumping through all their accounts to bombard you with these messages?

If not gold selling there can also be other annoying messages. As mentioned from someone else above. Bad eggs in PvP can message you for whatever reason and they do. It could be you were on their team and lost and you seem to be the person they are blaming. It could be you were on the other team and beat them good. It does not mater the reason these unwanted messages can and do come. Again yes we can block and move on. But some people have multi accounts or then get all their friends to spam/annoy you.

These are just a couple of examples. They interrupt your desired social interactions with people and can actually put you in a state of mind where you don’t even want to communicate with anyone because of the toxicity or annoyance. Heck in same cases you might be so bothered you take it out on those you are conversing with beforehand. I have seen that happen in other games before lol. Not funny but it happens, after all we are all only human.

TLDR

It’s not just about gold selling it’s also about basic privacy and how we personally choose to be social with other players.

The current whisper system is one of the biggest ways people can still grief other players, so really why is that not being looked at more seriously?
