Yes still do it. It will help you in the future events and living stories having the maps unlocked. Also doing all the maps will give you a nice chance at free bltc keys.

I have done world complete on about 11 chars now, VERY worth it imo. :P

I think some skills need this tweak. I know there is a couple of painful ones on my Thief or Mesmer that seem to have no logic to them at all.

In my mind tho it would be for melee ones. The Ranger and Ele ones given above as examples I would say should not qualify. You are at range (or could/should be) – there should be some penalty.

You certainly have it wrong about dailies being pvp only…

By the sounds of things you perhaps played this game like people have to play other games of this genre usually. Such as just standing in one area killing the same mobs over and over to “farm” or earn cash.

That is still not viable here and NEVER will be. The best sources of cash here (well for actually playing the game and not flipping the TP etc) comes from actually doing the content. Be that PVP (pretty good atm if you farm the winter reward track) or PVE events such as AB, silverwastes etc. WvW can also be viable if you just like to play for the “fun” of it all. It might be slower than other methods but it builds up without you even thinking about it.

I guess to answer what you are asking we need to know what it is you actually enjoy about this game and again like SaskiaElite asked. What is it exactly you need this cash for and how much?

PS if it’s about ascended gear you can also earn this in PvP now very easily. Albeit not entirely a full set but close enough and far cheaper! (free but still costs as in “time” :P)

Why A New Race Is Highly Possible [Merged]

Like I said in the past all they need to do is give us more COMBAT TONICS.

The permanent Kodan tonic we got recently is a good example of how this can work as a replacement for new races. The benefits could be:

1 – We could have MANY races as playable. More so than if they gave us races in the traditional way.

2 – They would not have to worry about voice acting or armours. As they can have a single armour (skin) as part of the tonic. However I would ask that they would add to this skin/armour dye-able (a word lol?) parts.

3 – New content and sales on the Gem Store. Look how many visual things they give us that are easy enough to make – gliders/outfits/backpacks. The same could apply to Combat Tonics.

Can't global block non-friends is a problem

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It is a huge problem that we cannot block whispers and mail from everyone who isn’t added as a friend. not just because of spam, but because of unwanted whispers.

blocking is not an option, because as soon as they try to message you and see they’re blocked, they use alternate accounts and friends to message and mail you as well

and invisible status does not prevent mail. please take note from recent games that only allow private messaging from mutually-added friends.

I have mixed feelings about the level of blocking suggested here. I understand some people want to avoid unwanted attention from specific individuals and there aren’t good tools for dealing with that.

However, it’s an MMO. Interacting with the masses is a feature, not a fault. Lots of people I’ve met are through folks asking questions in whispers. Veterans (some, anyhow) like to send stuff to newbies, to help them get started. I don’t know that it should be easy to opt out of the community.

I’m glad I’m not the person at ANet who has to decide.

You are not opting out of the community. You still see chat from people nearby you and in map chat. There is a difference to having some privacy and going totally deaf/mute/ignorant.

PvP Ascended Farming Bad Idea

in PvP

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

Heya People

Ok here is the thing. Ascended as a reward in Ranked is really a bad idea.
Reason: Way too many PVE players just come there to farm ascended without care about actual pvp which ruins the fun and competitive aspect of ranked for the rest of us.
No matter how good you are you simply can’t carry 3 people from your team that just don’t care about it because they will get their ascended even if they lose every single match thru all season.
Ranked atm is just not fun and most of the time people just get angry and decide not to play.
Atleast you guys should have made those reward Pips for wins only that way they would atleast try to win.
When you confront those PVE farmers you won’t get anywhere because they just don’t care and most common response that you will get is ‘’ it is just a game ’’ or ‘’i don’t care ‘’ that is if you don’t get full wagon of insults.
They just don’t care how pvp part of the community feels!

Solution :
1.Make those rewards to award pips for wins only and loss to take pips away like you did in previous season.
2. Make Fractals and Raid only thru Random Queue so that PvP players can go there and mess up their pve part of the game and that way they will learn how other people feel when they come to PVP mess up ranked . This is drastic solution but they need to learn once and for all

I am not seeing this. However you do sound angry so are you sure it’s not you who gets angry and just stops trying in the match?

As for the raids/fractals comment that just goes to show the type of person you are. Seriously you want to go and “troll” other people simply because you get team mates that are not professional players? Maybe try to give tips or advice to these players in a constructive way instead of yelling and shouting at them and then maybe, just maybe they may improve some.

Oh and btw, if your team is always getting the lousy players there is also a very good chance so are your enemy teams. So those times you are kicking backside and winning. Maybe just maybe you are not as good as you think you are and perhaps you were facing these same noob players and actually benefited from it. Crazy concept I know but it is possible!

Let me clarify my original post.

I love the idea, I was simply stating that it could draw some undesirable messages. So it would need some for of monitoring or report functions.

Well yes this I would agree with. Anet would have to think ahead to try and preempt:

Trolls
Gold sellers
People using this for other services in the game instead when they should be using LFG or whatever else.

Why would atrack trolls? that would be nice even for the guild that spend more time on wvw than any other part of the game as well.

Quality of messages posted on the board. If it’s a custom message like the guild adds you see in /map, there would be no reason people couldn’t put other “content” in their messages.

There’s ways Anet can deal with this sort of abuse. Last resort can always be a report abuse system. If they never added things to the game simply because “some” people could find a way to abuse it we would never get anything.

Heck would we even have a chat system at all? Emotes and I am sure many other things that could be mentioned.

GW2 looting mechanics are minor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I think the problem for you is that you are basing your value of game time and play on what you get from it loot wise. If you can only play 2 hours per day and are spending that time just doing world bosses I can understand that it may seem like you are not being rewarded much for your time.

But tbh I think it’s more a frame of mind thing than anything. If you were doing different content that was perhaps oh I don’t no rewarding as in the way it’s played, perhaps with the fun factor in mind maybe you would look at things differently? Or perhaps it’s content that has you progressing in some way each time you play. Achievements could be one way to fulfill that. Maybe you have got to mix your gameplay up some and try different stuff?

I am sure when you first picked GW2 up and started playing it that it was for more than just loot. Maybe you need to find that “magic” that has gone lost somewhere along the way.

Just my opinion and I have also been here since the beginning but don’t have the problems that you do. Mind you I do pretty much all content and even take breaks away from the game now and then and play other games also.

If they meet an oponent without 40+ zerg, they fall in 10min fear or till they run into a zerg,

They have no armor (skins) only their base outfit.

Don’t give me this garbage. With the average intelligence that we have of the average player right now, Skritt fit in perfectly!

The majority of players might have done the story to the end, but not the majority of characters. I have 10 level 80s and I know that 9 of them are highly unlikely to ever do the full personal story. Too long, I’ve done it once already and doing it again and again and again and again isn’t worth my time. I have a feeling that a lot of people have not done the story all the way through for more than a couple of their characters, and they may never do it. It would be immersion breaking for many people if most of their chars had the post Orr map when those chars hadn’t finished the story.

In that case they could just give us the opportunity to choose. If you already finished the story with 1 character, you know what happened and how you got there. Then you could choose whether your new character should start directly at the post-cleansed Orr map or not. That way, you’re not forced to play it through over and over again but still got the opportunity to play it through for immersion reasons (if you’re a roleplayer e.g.).

It is much more immersion breaking if there’s no cleansed Orr map at all – so no player ever had the chance to see what it looks like after the story. It’s even worse with the current living world episode – as I said it’s like we’re time travelers. The events simply didn’t take place in the open world.

Exactly what Tekey says:

Now I HAVE done the PS on all 9 of my main chars as well as all the LS and etc. Now here’s a funny tidbit for you. warning spoilers follow regarding the newest LS:

When taking my alts through the latest LS after my main had done it. Speaking to the ringmaster at the circus BEFORE being up to that part of the story let me enter the area where the 3rd machine thing is. Thus people, if you have alts you can speak to the ringmaster on them and glide from there to take apples to Hal without even needing to do the story on them!

So how’s that for an example? However I would still prefer they added my idea instead. Just give us a couple more new maps for these areas AFTER the fact so they can be consistent with the stories (well in the example of Orr at least anyway as I think this is important).

Are you sure that’s the requirement for the Ringmaster? I’m sure I used characters that had already done the story completely. I thought it was if you had purchased a ticket, but I’m not sure; I always purchase tickets, regardless.

TBH I’m not so sure now. I was in game a few hours ago on my main and I couldn’t get back to that place again, speaking to her she has totally new dialogue. Perhaps they added it in with the last patch?

I do know that I did buy a ticket but it was in my bank when I did my LS on all of my alts.

Salvage Kits

Now these are a special case imo. These are or should be classed under the service category and as such you would expect them to last forever or give you a use forever. This is exactly what I expected when I purchased these BEFORE the Shared Inv slots came out.

Yes we CAN still use them but the question is, why would you if instead you have a newer/better system that again you did buy into? So the question that remains for me and others in my situation is have we been done a fair deal over this item type? To me the answer is no. I will answer why in the next paragraph or 2.

For me I will tell you pretty much what I have bought from the gemstore since launch. From that I hope you can understand why I had bought these items from the explanations I have given above as to why people buy these things and what they expect when buying them. Now I do have to put in a disclaimer here, that being I have bought things with both real cash (buying gems) and via the Gold to gem system. I can’t recall exactly everything from each system. But I can tell you all Inv bag slots, most char slots (7 as I bought them all on day 1 of 3 day release) and most of the tools/skins were bought from real cash.

Having said that:

10 or 11 char slots
3x bag slots for my main and 7 extra chars
3 gathering tool sets + an extra sprocket pick
4+ bank expansions
Collections upgrade so far to the 1k limit of each
7 Shared inv slots
1 or 2 armour sets
1 or 2 outfits

+ more that I am probably forgetting lol.

Now clearly I bought some of these for cosmetic reasons since I like to have my chars set around a theme (thus why I don’t care about the gathering tools). Others I bought for the services and you can see I have bought a lot more for the services and convenience side. Also tho I have to say I bought all of this mainly because I love the game and the makers and wanted to contribute a bit more and so I would say that I have been “loyal” to them as such. However this has now taken a hit over this very issue.

With regards to this issue I don’t feel that I have been treated back as such in a “loyal” manner. Yes I can still use the item but again I say what is the point when I have a better option? I expected that this item would give me far more in return and not made redundant so soon after.

Look at Anet’s track record and EVERY single other item on my list above here. This has NOT happened before, none of these other items/services have been changed (barring tools but I have already gone into that). As such I think they may have rushed when deciding on this or not taking everything into full consideration.

I will post a screen shot below of what I have in my shared slots so you can get an idea a bit more I hope. Please refer to it before this next paragraph.

Here you can see I do have some junk stuff that could be replaced lol. But you can see I do have one of my copper feds in here. Before Shared inv slots I had 2, one for my main and the other for whatever other char I was working on at the time for map completes. So 2 out of my total 10+ chars had a dedicated salvage kit at any one time. My other alts who were parked at one farm or another were out of luck and either had to wait before they hit a bank or use the normal vendor kits.

Now obviously because of the shared inv slots I can simply just slip one of my kits in the slot and bang, all problems solved. You may argue that I got my use out of the kit all the while that I had it. Again I argue my expectation was that there was NO set time limit for that like there are for consumables. My expectation is that I would ALWAYS be able to get some benefit out of using it. That is gone now and I don’t have any other use for it unlike the gathering tools (for their cosmetic part).

It’s unfortunate it turned out this way. I mean they could have offered something. A partial refund, perhaps an option to convert any extra salvage kits into a shared inv slot, heck that would have been something and nice! But no, not even the option to sell them to other players or to gift them.

That’s all I have to say really. You can all argue one way or the other but my opinion wont change. I feel that I have been loyal all these years, but over this I was not treated as such back in return.

PS the screenshot is of my 8th alt which is obviously my Rev that I made when HOT came along. I have not bought any extra bag slots for him as they really are not needed anymore thanks to my inv slots and the stuff I have in them. :P

EDIT – sorry for the double posted screenshot, for some reason the first post will not delete it when I try.

I want to try and put more into words what I guess I have been trying to say here and perhaps it may be where the OP is coming from as well. Basically to try and give some of you where we are coming from and why we feel we were done a dis-service here.

To do that let’s first look at the gemstore and what’s on offer and WHY people buy things from it. Also what they expect from those purchases when they do buy these said items/services. I will/may not go into every single item or type that can be bought but hopefully enough so you get an idea.

Cosmetic:

Okay these are pretty obvious, you buy this for the look of them. Be they outfits, weapon skins, gliders, mail carriers, minipets or what have you. People buy this for the look of them. You expect to get use out of them forever simply by the fact you will ALWAYS have the option to use them. Even if newer ones come out. You can still get a use for them. I have no issues here, this is not changed.

Consumables

Again these are pretty straight forward. Be they xp boosts, gathering, crafting or whatever. We all know how they work and when buying them know they are limited use and so as such people buy them or not based on this if they think they are worth it or not for them. Nothing here has changed, I have no issues. Keep in mind however I don’t generally buy these.

Misc Expansions or Services

These include things like Char slots, inv bag slots, bank slots, bank collection expansions, crafting licencees, gathering nodes, passes to various places such as The Royal Terrace. Here when buying these things we know what we are getting and I suppose most of us would expect that we can use these forever or the use will be forever. Obviously in the case of inv bag slots this depends on if you delete these chars or not so there is some risk with it but it is very, very small. These are all unchanged and I have no issues with them.

Gathering Tools

Now here this should be simple but really it’s not because of 2 things.
1 – these do not fall into any single one of the other categories and
2 – they are instead a mix of 2 catergories.

Those being Cosmetic and a Service. Having said that, people may buy these for 2 very different reasons. The skin or the service and because of that, the expectations may be different. Since the change and Shared Inv slots one of these may now be redundant for that reason (the service side). The skin factor is still there as people can still use the tools on certain chars (like I do) for a theme or roleplaying. The service, I am sure no more needs to be said. To give anet credit they did give some players a refund for this. Personally I have absolutely no issue over gathering tools. I have purchased 3 different sets myself and even an extra Sprocket one. I have not and will not ask for or expect any kind of refund or whatever back for these. However I am on the skin side of it so I guess I can understand the people who are on it for the service side and who may have only ever bought 1 set of tools.

Edit: Hmm, seems the post was removed….oh, well.

Oh, which features are still lacking?

And, for me, heaven forbid an expansion in Guild Wars 2 comes with no future content.

I seem to remember players begging for shared inventory slots for years. One often saw, “Take my money!”. What I don’t remember were any posts asking for future refunds should said shared slots ever materialize.

Ha, I remember when I got my first electric can opener. It never occurred to me to demand a refund for all my old manual can openers. Same thing happened when I got my first cordless phone, and then, heavens!, it happened again when I got a cell phone.

One never knows what the future may bring!

To what I bolded:

Oh there were many I know as I commented on them. I don’t recall which side I was for but they were there. Now I COULD go back through my entire posting history and find them to prove this but then again so COULD you. I doubt either one of us would want to do that lol.

The reason they think those reasons are fair is that they figure that folks already got “full use” out of the items, i.e. it’s not about whether the kits have an ongoing value now as that they had a substantial value then

That is like suddenly saying tomorrow you can only have 8 character slots but they dont care that you cant use your other characters because you already got use out of them.

It’s not remotely similar. They have not limited the use of your existing item; they added something that makes its convenience less important. Taking away character slots would be taking something away, and not just the convenience factor.

I get that you’re upset and it’s understandable. But try not to exaggerate the impact; it hurts rather than helps your case.

No, they made it useless. As in it sits in my bank and takes up a slot because there is literally zero reason to carry two of them.

No, you made it, “useless,”by purchasing the shared slots.

My Trailblazer has 80k miles on it. Chevrolet has released a newer model that gets better mileage, has features that mine does not, etc. If I buy the new model, and cannot drive both vehicles at the same time, Chevy has not made my old vehicle useless for me.

You can sell your other car or gift it to someone who does not have it and still get something from it. It is still worth something to someone else! Not so here…

I also played GW1 so I know of what you are discussing here and comparing. The thing is it was needed in GW1 because there was no open world. They made the missions that way to put the Multiplayer aspect into the MMO part of it.

Here there is an open world so they really didn’t need to “force” it. You can go out, anywhere and find players and join in on working with them without the drama of needing to join groups or needing this or that class etc or whatever.

Yes dungeons here are pretty much GW2’s version of that as well as fractals too and then of course raids. Dungeons and Fractals as well as raids are believe it or not MEANT to be about the stories they bring. Sure people play them for the rewards mainly but there are the stories there and that’s what it’s meant to be about.

I certainly don’t think it’s a good idea or want future PS or living story to turn back into what GW1 was. It’s just not needed here. I however certainly am not against new dungeons, raids or fractals with new stories as I think that will of course add more to the game.

I think maybe you need to find a guild or group to adventure with and perhaps do dungeons and fractals for the STORY part perhaps? That is NO skipping the scenes, watch them, ENJOY them and get that immersion that you are seeking.

One thing I would like to say however. I did like the dungeon system better in GW1. That is you go in and clear out rooms one by one. None of this nancy garbage you do here “run past the mobs” “cheat this way” for faster clears! Perhaps anet could add a few more like this too!

I think the problem here is that many people think or expect that ectos SHOULD be considered a high value item. Why is this I wonder? Is it because they were THE item for this in GW1? Perhaps people need to let go of that and realise that this is a different game and things have changed?

Lets face it, in THIS game Ectos are just “another” material just like the many of others that are needed for crafting. Perhaps it’s a change of view that people need here and a different way of looking at it?

Implement a living world - instanced maps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

WoW did something similar if I recall, where quest actions reflected on maps. They had to use special instancing for it but it’s possible. If ANet has the money or resources to do the same thing is a question to be answered.

Something I saw back in the old days of EQ1, before I quit, were ‘random’ dungeons. I’d like to see those as well. They weren’t so much random as a group of 20-30 connectable dungeon map sections randomly set together in each new instance so they at least had the appearance of being random. Regular players that ran a dungeon 5x a day would learn it by heart, but occasional dungeoneers would come into a new (and mildly confusing) map each time.

Runescape did this as well for their dungeons and I’m not even sure it is possible to see every single combination they could come out with. There were many different rooms with many different systems to them. Combat ones, trap/mechanic ones etc and they were adding new rooms all the time.

When Anet first announced Fractals this is what I was hoping for but it was not.

All they gotta do is google Runescape, maybe make a free account there and go in and play dungeons (if you can, I don’t recall if a free account could do dungeons) to get an idea. Something like that here would be an awesome addition and I am sure Anet could do it far, far, far better!

As to the topic at hand and the OP. I have mentioned upon this in the past as well and I too am disappointed with how it is. Perhaps maybe a new map or 2 in Orr could make some good on this? A map that IS cleaned up after Zhaitan is dead and HAS changed. This could bring a whole new breath of fresh air to the story and this area of the map. The same could then be done perhaps to other areas in the game?

Improving visibility of Buff/Debuff icons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I have suggested a fixed placement for icons before and I still stand by that idea. The thing is buffs and boons can (especially on bosses) appear and disappear very fast on enemies that it can make it hard to read the descriptions if you want to by trying to hover your mouse over them as they are constantly moving.

Yes sure I have played the game since launch and should know all of their effects by now. But still, it’s good to get a refresh on info at times. Not only that but new conds/boons are coming into the game now and then.

So I agree with the OP – new options would be welcome.

In-game Gemstore item Refunds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paulytnz.7619

It’s possible we would get fewer great QoL updates if the Devs had to always consider how much it would cost in refunds.

The CS Team did give refunds to those who had purchased within the last 30 days.

Sometimes, advances make other things obsolete, and, well, we just have to roll with it.

Maybe I would accept that if I didn’t also have to pay for those shared inv slots you know? But nope, that was not the case. So I am paying cash for another “qol”/convenience thing but by doing so it makes another such purchase obsolete. Yeah still does not feel right to me and does put a question mark over that great word “integrity” for me. Which by the way I always felt this company had.

Also I wouldn’t expect a monetary (where they put the cash back on my credit card) refund anyway. I would expect they would just give you the gems back which would be good enough for me I guess.

Oh and lastly when I purchased said item I never saw any message or info on it saying anything similar to “guaranteed for at least 30 days to be worth the cost of it”. I was under the impression it was a “for life” type of thing, well as long as I was still alive and playing the game at least anyway lol.

GW2 should allow 0 cooldown on weapon swaps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I main an Engi and as such I am soooo used to the zero swap time because of my kits. Just the other day while playing on one of my alts I was thinking about this and thought “would it really be a negative thing to have a zero cooldown on weps for every other class?”

I am not sure it would be and heck I think it would make the game far better. Think of it as a QOL thing. The only reason I can think of it even existing is because of traits/runes/sigils that pop when swapping weps. But there is already a secondary safety built in here and that is the cooldowns on wep skills and those traits/runes sigils etc. So again, I think this could only benefit the game.

In-game Gemstore item Refunds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paulytnz.7619

I don’t even care about a refund. let me at least gift my extras to friends. They are so kitten useless as is and anet doesn’t seem to care. The only reason we bought multiples is because anet told us they would never have shared slots to begin with.

When shared inv slots came out I sent in a support ticket asking exactly for this but was told “no, you have got your money’s worth out of the item you are sool”.

I don’t agree with their reply and thus have stopped spending real money to buy gems unless I REALLY need something.

Their loss in the long run I figure. They could refund me the 800 gems or whatever I paid and potentially having me spend far more cash by buying more than 800 gems. But nope, they choose to not refund that 800 gems or even part of it. For me it’s the principal of it. For them it’s trying to save bucks I guess but in the long run, like I say they are losing more.

Implementation of new reward system.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I do get what you are saying with regards to going back to old areas and the rewards for doing so. However I think that is slightly different to what you are proposing which is “do this to earn this and do it this way”.

I also think Anet are aware of the issue and are looking at ways to reward players for going back to other areas and doing content there as well as add incentives to do so. Here’s a couple of examples:

1 – Map rewards. This came in with HOT. I think this system has great potential for what you are asking and has somewhat done some of the desired effect. Fine mats have dropped a ton since this implementation. It is slightly easier now to get some of these as well as other things you may need (such as shovels, etc). I still think this could be improved upon however.

2 – Updating areas by adding new challenges. While I am still not sure what the point is to these added Bandits/leaders/events besides achievements and being something else/new to do. I think it still stands up as an example for things they are adding as incentives to go back to older maps and content. Again tho I think this needs to be made more clear as to why.

Added also to these 2 examples are things that they have added but which is secret. Why anet, why? Why make things secret? If it is CONTENT and content that people may find fun to do why hide it from them? Tell them, let them know that there is NEW CONTENT there for them to play. Of course I am talking about things like secret achievements and mini games like unlocking kittens for our home instances.

One other thing I would like to touch on is this latest new map – Ember Bay. Now here we see anet are trying something new, in fact 2 new things and I think it is to test us as well as the implementation of them to see if they are worth continuing with. These 2 things are addressing exactly what you are talking about. What are these 2 things?

1 – Skin rewards with this map currency.
2 – Repeatable hearts.

1 – It’s very clear here that you can only get these skins by playing in this map and earning the stumps needed to buy them. So obviously this is a way of giving people an incentive to play this map and do the events in this map. This is exactly what you are asking for. Doing content in a certain area with a skin based reward.

2 – The repeatable hearts I tie in with the skin rewards. Simply because these hearts are also events and thus reward you as such. Not only that but completing them each day rewards you with the currency towards those skin rewards. These 2 things go hand in hand in my opinion.

Personally I believe anet are testing these repeatable hearts for this map so they can see if its worth going back to older maps and applying the same type of systems there which could then easily be added on to new rewards (possibly/probably skins) for those areas. The purpose to this of course would be to add incentive again to go back to those maps on top of the map reward system as well as to help in earning those rewards by allowing hearts to be repeatable since completing them do count as events I believe so they would/should help towards earning those map rewards?

So in summary, I agree with what you are saying however I do also believe Anet see it and are trying. However I also don’t believe collectible type of achievements or checklist ones are the way to go. Simply because they become just that – checklists and as such for many people just not fun – a grind perhaps even to some. Most players like to CHOOSE what they want to do or have a variety in the way they can do things to earn those rewards. Anet has also told us plain and simple that creating these collection types of systems take a heck of a lot of work – thus quitting that system for new legendary weapons.

Okay I have said a lot. The only thing further I would like to add is to ask you for some ideas as to what else they could do besides what they are doing or trying (repeatable hearts/map rewards etc).

I think offering ideas and suggestions is the way forward, we just need a lot more of the community tho think about that and to try and come up with creative ways to try and address some of these things.

So, making more grind for this no grind game would be your suggestion? Doing the same 5 hearts for 30 days?
And how would putting exclusive gem shop items in game affect Anets’ bottom line? As Khisanth pointed out—they would prefer players to buy gem with real money. At least Anet allows you to exchange in game gold for gems.

Where did you get the idea this is a no grind game?! Gw2 is one of the most grindy MMOs out there its just not forced on you like others. It takes longer to get raid gear (ascended gear) in Gw2 than it does in games like WoW. I played the WoW xpac and it took me a week and a half to be raid ready and I wasn’t playing as much as one would think.

The more skins and things to get/do in the game more people will play the game resulting in more gem sales. No one is asking them to stop making gem store specific skins. All I am asking for is also skins in-game I can work towards without having to just spam farm gold..

The problem with your “solution” is it makes the whole process very linear and appear MORE grindy. Simply because you HAVE to do xxx content/tasks to earn whatever it is you want.

With the current system you say instead you have to farm gold right? Yet look at all the ways you can do this. You have OPTIONS for “farming” that gold. It is only yourself to blame if you choose the most boring/efficient ways of earning that coin instead of breaking it up some and changing your play mode from time to time.

I gather you are just asking for a “forced” way to play differently than what you are? Because really, that’s all it really is if you think about it…

I wouldn’t be upset if the different flavors of boxes were consolidated in some way. That would make it easier to let them stack for later opening, rather than having to open a dozen different kinds of boxes to stop them from eating inventory space.

Wait what? Boxes and bags with goods in them (usually a lot more than the 1 slot they take up) take up more space than what’s in them? I think you have that backwards….

Coliseum & Capricorn Achivements

Well I guess they had to find some way to add RNG to pvp?

Basically this sucks. We have less than 2 weeks left to finish the Carpicorn Achieves yet almost everyone is voting the new map as it has new achieves for them. They have their Capricorn but what do they care? If only they wait until Capricorn is gone from the vote then they will be able to get their new map easier but no…

Ill tell you why no one wants to wait and its because you will get games like this. Its hard doing games like this over and over. Its because we have had to play alot of PvP lately and everyone is on edge from capricorn players to coliseum.

Now i dont blame the players for this at all but when you have the 4th PvP season. 2 unranked maps, a new PvE area and for some of us like me. Have over 8k games played, your kind of looking to get stuff done.

Well yes of course I understand that. I mean I started the PvP season like everyone else with every intention of pushing hard to get into legendary. I got burnt out and then fed up with the MMR system so I took a break and started on the Capricorn map. I soon got burnt out on this and was not aware it was a limited thing for the achieves.

I went on to other things with every intention of going back for those achieves. Such as running my main and 8 alts through the Bloodstone map and story. Then came out the latest map and story and again I am running my alts through it. However I just heard about the limited time on these achieves and so I thought I better get a move on.

But nope, anet were very wise and released another “new map” and expect us to run both of these “new maps” at the same time. So, shot down. But here is my thought. The newer map will be around a lot longer and will have an extra whole other season for people to get achieves on them, yet people don’t care. They are just rushing to get them done and are moaning that other people are choosing the Capricorn. Of course they only think about themselves.

I am not blaming them for this SNAFU that is on ANET of course but come on why rush? Just wait for Capricorn to be unpinned and you should have 100% chance to get that map and those achieves will come smoothly. But nope – I MUST HAVE THEM NOW is the attitude.

Sure yes I COULD have got all of the Capricorn achieves very early like everyone else. But how was I to know the achieves were limited time thing? How was I to know that they would release another new map on top of that one with new achieves attached to it?

I guess Anet expects that everyone here rushes to get everything done or should? Yeah okay…I thought that this game was catered towards casual gamers even when I am not a casual one. So if I am struggling or having issues over this when I am not a casual, I really feel sorry for the casuals – who remember, this game is designed for.

Bring back rewards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I don’t think the problem is lack of quantity of armours, if anything lack of quality. There are many, many, many armour sets in game right now. How many of them would you ever consider using? Then again there is the flip side to that. There actually is a lot of good sets but the question is how often can or would you use these? Yes you may have a lot of alts like I do. But still, these are usually mixed between the different weight classes so you generally don’t get a chance to play with different sets a lot of the time anyway due to this.

Plus there is also lack of imagination I would guess from a lot of players when it comes to some of the current sets. They just wont take the time to play with what is already in the game to try and make a nice looking char by mix and match or just playing with the dye system.

I feel sorry for the devs who make armour/outfit and weapon sets tbh. Because if that is all they do for this game it would be super boring and they probably lack enthusiasm or care which could possibly explain some of the lackluster skins we do get from time to time.

So in my opinion I say give us LESS Armour/Outfit and Weapon skins. Give those devs something else to do for a while. Have them take a break and then after some time has passed have them go and make the odd Armour/Weapon or Outfit skin again. This might really inspire them to make an amazing set again.

Now the question then becomes – “but what else could these devs work on if their only talent is to make pretty things?”.

Well, there are of course other skins such as gliders/backpacks which I am sure they already have a hand in making anyway which probably does take their time and give them a break from Weps/armours and outfits. Bur surely we can expand on that can’t we?

Enter decorations for Guild Halls. Bring in new things to the game that brings these opportunities. Give us player housing finally where new house skins could be created as well as furniture etc etc for them. This is just one example. There are many other ideas out there if you just think outside the box and think up new gameplay elements/modes besides kill, kill, kill all the time!

Here is another example of what they could add for further skins:
