Whenever I play dungeons w/o my Guild, I always make sure to start the group myself, and type “Nice People only! =)” in the description.

The dungeon is designed for people of level 35+, and there will be a lot of people that’s new to the game, or even to the entire genre. They have every right to be there and enjoy the content. The runs will be longer and less fluid. You might have to stop and explain now and then and you might have to do an encounter a few times before overcoming it.

If this isn’t something for you, then do not play in Pick-Up-Groups.

The fact that you can’t see why its a problem that low lvl characters make dungeon runs difficult is the problem. Simply put, regardless of player skill level, a sub-80 character does not have the UTILITY SKILLS and TRAIT SKILLS/POINTS to contribute.

Sorry that you have dealt with some hostile folks, but some may find it frustrating that people can’t or refuse to grasp the simple concepts of the game mechanics I described in paragraph one.

Perhaps a better use of your time (instead of wasting other people’s time with fail runs or complaining about it on the forums) would be to level your character.

Another alternative would be to get 4 friends or guild mates who are level 80 to hold your hand through the dungeon.

I would be happy to assist you on this if you find 3 other level 80’s willing.

Fractal levels above 30 to be reset?

I’m really, really thrilled about the upcoming patch… But you have to give some compensation and recognition to all of those players who have worked many dozens of hours to increase their personal fractal-level, just to have their progress almost wiped.

Skins, boosters, Fractal Relics, desired things from the Gem Store, Titles (gold reward might increase inflation?)… I’m not really affected by this reset myself, but it feels very unjust and frankly a bit disguising that this is happening without compensation being given out.

This should be answered imho:

Current concerns:

1) Will 30+ be given compensation? Will 50+ be given extra compensation? What will it be?
2) Please explain what happens to infused backpieces. Was infusing it with 250 ectos a complete waste? If so, will those be given back?

I will personally keep posting these once or twice every page until a dev responds to them (even though I really only care about the second one and it’s getting lost in the QQ of the first).

*For a good comparison regarding the AR change on infused back pieces:

250 ectos is a chunk of change. We’ll say that it makes up 75% of the mat/gold investment to created an infused back item (that number is inaccurate, I just used an easy number for sanity’s sake).

What does 75% mat/gold investment of a legendary weapon look like? What if tomorrow ANET makes an announcement that crafting legendaries is far easier. 1) They remove the Icy Runestone requirement. 2) They remove the Mystic Clover requirement. 3) They remove one of the Gifts (Making only three required). 4) They remove the precursor requirement.
How would you feel about that if you literally finished your legendary a week ago?

New Fractals: level reset to 30

Wow. Get over it people. So your and my levels are getting reset to 30, big deal – we’ll be back up there in no time and I’m also interested in taking on the new 30+ challeneges per level. They also made levels account bound in case you missed that, so hey, you can switch easy between characters as you need, still earn progressions/etc. They also released entirely new fractals and revamped the entire system. Let’s scream doom because an insanely small portfion of the community farmed odd-level fractals to get 80 or you zerged it to 80 with bugs. Talk about an achievement, exploited your way to max level, upset it gets revamped with an entirely better (at least sounding so far) system.

This is amazing and all, but they are resetting progress that some have spent many dozens of hours to achieve. A compensation/recognition is definitely in place.

If they make fractal weapons easier to get after a year of grinding fractals I will simply walk into mordor.

Well, would you rather have it stay the way it is? It would be a huge improvement, right? If you already have a Fractal Weapon, the fact that you’ve fought for it more than most is still true.

Even if you can dodge hammer (outside of hammer 4 which is too fast atm), you get two dodges every 20 seconds. Whereas, in the first 20 seconds, a hammer warrior gets two earthshakers, one knockdown and one knockback. And that’s barring Merciless Hammer.

But I still agree with you; hammer itself isn’t really a problem right now. Especially in 1v1 situations where you can clearly see what the warrior is doing.

There are a lot of other forms of evade though.

“We’re looking at game types which encourage this style of play. " that’s the bit that worries me though. I’m for 2v2/3v3 arenas 100% and imo would be the best game-mode to play for fun. I still remember my friend saying “dude ctf is coming to gw2” , then my hype wore down when I saw the spiritwatch trailer.

Same. I got worried about this especially when they said:

It seems blindingly obvious that they are not even speculating on adding an expansion at this time. The content that an expansion would add is instead being added in the living story (though, some of the content is temporary, while some is permanent).

Would Love it if they made Zhaithan a spectacular and epic fight first.
Feels like we didn’t get closure back in Orr with that forgettable fight… Never once felt in that path that “This is it!”

Once they’ve done that, I’d be absolutely thrilled to see another awesome Elder Dragon to slay.

In the later thread, a Dev (Grouch) replied when I asked Jonathan Sharp about his opinion on these kinds of arenas:

Arena is definitely something that gets brought up quite often in the office. I watched the FML 2v2 Tournament this weekend and it was a heck of a lot of fun. Some of the most exciting fights in conquest is when you’re doing small skirmishes on side points and the tournament on Saturday emulated those situations extremely well.

The good news is that players can create psuedo-2v2/3v3 Custom Arenas already, and there’s already a few rooms setup like that. I’d like to see more 2v2 type tournaments with prizes pop up in the future, and I’ve had a few people approach me saying they’d be interesting in organizing something like that.

Also, this is a quote from John Corpening (PvP Coordinator) from the CDT- Game Mode topic, and one from Jonathan Sharp:

…..Finally, there are quite a few of you who live for the joy of pure combat and are looking to test your skills against other opponents in a more pure TDM/Arena format.

Yeah CC used to be good in this game, coming from other MMOs. But then in evolved into an AoE spam-fest with much of this AoE being CC as well.

Targeted, telegraphed CC is fine.

But most CC in GW2 is not that type.

I would really love it if they made more sensible telegraphed CCs! I think big(ger) CCs makes the game tenser and more exciting. If you’re focused enough, you should be able to dodge those (by design).

I think the right time to add more skills isn’t going to come for at least 6 months. Consider what it would do to the balance…

Personally, I would like it if they released a new weapon or two, and made one more weapon available for each profession. New weapons is something that they’ve said that they’re going to add eventually, and I really want a Hammer on my Engineer, or a 2h Axe on my Warrior…

Having a reward chest with gold for each individual fractal would be great! If it was also balanced so that longer fractals gives a sensibly higher amount of gold, it would be an awesome addition!

5) More HP, more power = more fun, more challenge.
Seems to be the moto of the game. But more HP and more power definitely is not fun. It works for some time but it gets boring.
Instead, reduce a bit the HP of a lot of bosses/champs and give new mechanics to them the higher you get.
For instance, you added :
- the fan and the crystals to power it up on Asura map
- the harpies KD on Asura map
- the speed buff to adds on Fire Shaman, first encounter

These are good ideas : now to find other similar ideas !

Maybe make it so that Fractal Skins that drop @ a really high level, you would get the option to choose which one you want? Sounds to be a problem solver; you get rewarded for your high Fractal level and the negative side of the RNG is not nearly as bitter. (Like the RNG here quite a bit myself)

As an Ele, I love fields. 16 stacks of might? SURE, No problem! Just gotta be careful and time them properly when running in dungeons.

Oh really? =D That I’d be totally down for. I’m already making 2 legendaries (trident for ele, harpoon for engi) and I’d like to see what they do.

They have stated that they kinda look forward towards adding in new weapons (with new skills attached, of course), they’re just waiting for the right time.

And Aetherrised Nightmare stuff are only obtainable from TA Aetherpath as random drops.

We got them but just not many of them.

Love their business-model and what they’re doing with them! Sensible amount of milking. Feels like part of their model is based on gratitude from the players due to the absence of subscription-fees, making us buy things as a “thanks” to the devs.

Request to ANet – Dervish (scythe + wind/earth prayers + mysticism) and Ritualist (spirits + communing/channeling/restoration + weapon spells) please

This reminds me. I would Love a profession with a dark theme, such as the Necromancers, but that also is more complex to utilize. (I play as an Engineer with a build that require a lot from the user compared to a Grenadier-build. The Necromancer feels too dull and easy…)

Gathering more awesome items for my 3 80s… Always something on the horizon, 2 of them are @ 300g. (My free time varies a lot since I study @ a university, which is for the best since I easily “burned out” on things to do the 2 months that I was unemployed)
Approach for now is to actually get past 30 in fractals since I found that it seems to be a nice challenge (hopefully that’s entirely true). Looking forwards towards the new fractals immensely!

sPvP once there is another game mode (that I enjoy…)
Maybe the new WvW map… Looks more compacted, which I like a lot!

Why from bosses? Have them potentially drop from any mob in the dungeon, that way people have a reason to kill rather than skip…

Well, I guess that this ties to my long gone excitements in World of Warcraft… If there was one (back then probably a few) items that you want, it’s a lot more exciting if they drop from a boss (assuming it’s a difficult one!). Knowing that you need to defeat this ~difficult boss in order for a chance to get the item(s) you’re after adds a lot more tension to the fight, because it matters to you! If it’s just from random trashmobs, that excitement is gone, because each trash would have a very low drop chance in comparison to if it only dropped from that 1 boss. In addition, you’re not going to get excited for each and every trashmob you kill anyways….

To spice up the rewards from dungeons, how about adding really nice skins/items that have a reasonably low chance of dropping from bosses? We already have the tokens and coins and more as a secured reward for completing the dungeon.

I think this could give an additional and different reason to do dungeons that adds some excitement.

I’d thought that it would be great. Discuss?

Yea this game needs deathmatch, but nothing more than 2v2 or 3v3. Gw2 pvp is best suited for small scale fights.
Anything more than 3v3 is a aoe, petting zoo, particle clusterkitten.

Yeah, less focus on the objective, unless the objective is to kill people. Want something where you combat skills to kill and support allies is all that really matters.

They should strive to create a Game Mode that’s based on the game’s strengths and mechanics, not try to copy something else.

This also applies to all of these MMOs that want’s to be WoW, which arguably pretty much all have failed miserably…

It’s still possible to make something similar to a Dota-style Game mode. But some of the big things that makes those type of games work will likely have to be replaced to fits GW2. Actually, the best way to say it might be to take inspiration from Dota-style games and make something new that works great.

They should strive to create a Game Mode that’s based on the game’s strengths and mechanics, not try to copy something else.

This also applies to all of these MMOs that want’s to be WoW, which arguably pretty much all have failed miserably…

Lower leveled characters should be introduced to somewhat lower difficulty in dungeons. At level 80, you have more skills available and if it’s you first character you’ll be better at the game. In addition, at level 80, are we not looking to be challenged a bit more than at, say, the minimum level to enter AC?

At the same time, do we not desire to feel our characters become more powerful as we get better and better gear? But that means that the dungeons becomes easier.

There ought to be a solution. Maybe one could enable a personal, semi-hardmode in dungeons in exchange for increased rewards, for once the challenge isn’t big enough.
But then there is the same problem as for Magic Find (which was quite terrible); You get better rewards in exchange for your decreased contribution to the party.

Maybe the Fractals of the Mists is the best solution, and thus should be improved (as it seems like the best place for having challenging dungeons).

I’ve been an active member in 2 Swedish guilds where we hanged out on Teamspeak and you knew ~25 of the most active members by name and there was always many of those people online that was up for doing things all the time. Most of them where always online and chatting on TS during peak hours.

The first guild was active from a year before launch ’til everyone had burned out because of the lack of features. Then I joined the second guild which collapsed a few months ago.

Now I’m looking for an English-speaking guild where I can find that same feeling of being a part of a loyal, close and “cosy” community =) Is there any guild out there that can match what I’ve described, please be so kind and tell!

Generally adding more fractal levels would be a great addition….
As someone who has yet to reach 30, I’m happy with the rewards of 10-28. Really hope that I’ll be satisfied with the rewards when I progress.

challenging content will most likely have a fail rate. And people arn’t happy they can’t get the whatever reward they want like what happened to the last few event.

The PvE is relatively filled with content for those people. As I said, isn’t it likely that there’s a huge amount of players that actually would love some difficulty – A good challenge?

Well yes, some dungeons are quite challenging, but there aren’t enough (//lack of variety) and there isn’t some sort of hard mode (//challenges when you mastered ‘normal modes’).

Just to be clear, I meant causal players that laokoko described when I said “those people”
Maybe changing the level 80 dungeons to be more challenging? Or adding a lot more fractals?

@ 2on2/3on3: A lot of you guys really seem to like this idea. So do we. We’re looking at game types which encourage this style of play. Another thing we’re looking at it combining the size of fights with larger tactical/strategic implications, so that there is something fun going on the micro level (the actual fight) and the macro level (the map overall).

As long as we can have legit, fair fights where your actual combat skills and cooperation (support, combo finishers) is all that matters. No pesky 3v2 or 3v1 fights that mostly ends up with either someone fleeing or as mentioned, one side outnumbering the other (conquest)

^I can agree with that, but consider that you still can get those moments of being the savior quite easily with some builds.

Very true. I guess I just miss being a healer (especially my disc priest and holy pally) and I felt that Anet completely disregarded a population of players who actually like to heal and provide full on support.

Bet you’re kinda hyped for Wildstar? You, as an old healer, seems like part of their targeted audience!

i HATED wow trinity system… the joke on wow was that w/e patch buffed the hell out of the class, that class was ruling the season untill the next patch; wow pvp was even more “volatile” than gw2 pvp (cough season 12 warriors for example)

wow pvp is REALLY REALLY REALLY bad at this point, devs don’t give a flying cow about pvp; gw2 despite issues here and there is STILL MILES AWAY better than wow pvp

healers? no ty, i like how classes are rather more independed in this game

Agreed! There was a speculation that they made the insane (absurd, bonkers, mind-boggling, etc.) balancing in WoW because they wanted people to spend time leveling the class that was good at that given time to finally steamroll people over. I mean, generally you got angry at the balancing they made, but you still stayed and pay’d up. Maybe your class was the thing next time?

Anyways, that kinda gives anyone an idea of how “volatile” the balancing was/is in WoW, because this theory seems perfectly reasonable considering their actions with class balance. Tried the PvP out again this august, got miserable, realized that I finally had a better game to play.

I don’t believe this is the only reason. The developers posted weeks ago they know Warriors are overpowered. However, no fixes have been realized on live servers to date. Prior to their big tournament at PAX, they pushed a hotfix to Dhuumfire.

The examples provided indicate the developers are aware of the imbalances in the game and are fully capable of making smaller adjustments in a more timely fashion than what they do currently.

It feels like the developers simply doesn’t have enough manpower to get things done reasonably quickly… But it also feels like they should get certain things fixed a lot, lot faster. (From the top of my head: the bloody gold reward from dungeons. Took ’em long enough, huh? In addition, what is up with that? Same reward in gold for doing AC as Arah p3? Insane?)

Country Flag Finishers?

I really would feel that country flag finishers would be a great addition to the PvP finisher set. This would allow different teams to represent their country across EU and NA and would provide a unique identity to teams.

In fact, guild finishers could even be added, where the guild logo is painted onto the flag finisher like the guild kite.

AWESOME! Don’t see how this is a bad thing, just sounds amazing!

For gods sake, please no. There’s nothing worse for a pvp-community than patriotism/nationalism. And that’s what it looks like when you would use such a finisher as a team, even if you just want to use it to show from where you are.

It’s not about patriotism (which I kinda hate myself) it’s a cultural thing. It’s fun to show off where you from. Give a bit of knowledge to the victim of who bested him =D

I can agree that a wider choice of appearances while leveling would be a great addition to the game. If they’re well designed and differentiates from the other designs (which they should if added), they will probably be well used by level 80s as well.

But keep the philosophy that gear gets increasingly flashy the higher the level.
