Reward track "Sort by Time Remaining" broken

you have unlocked CoE and AC paths via dungeon story, therefor the time on them is unlimited which is why they are top, arah is time restrained cause of rotation

Granted, nowhere does it say whether the list should be sorted ascendingly or descendingly, even though it would make a lot more sense to have the ones that are about to time out at the top, not bottom of the list…

… however, if you look at my list you’ll see that the Krytan track is even BELOW the Arah one, so it definitely isn’t sorted by “Time Remaining” in either direction!

I have so far unlocked CoE and AC reward paths.

When sorting by “Time Remaining”, this is what I see:

  1. CoE reward track
  2. AC reward track
  3. Arah reward track (time remaining: 1 week)
  4. Kryta reward track

Surely, Arah reward track should be at the top…

I was told

By who?

all of your 5v5 servers are full...

in PvP

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Yeah, looking for a match to even play in can be a total pain. My loading screen takes a little longer than many other players’ (apparently), so by the time the new arena is loaded, the teams are already full. So no, sitting out one match that has 10 players and as many spectators does NOT guarantee me a slot in the next match – it would give me a 50% chance, IF my loading time was as fast as everybody else’s.

So even while I’m waiting for my solo arena match (15+ minutes in the queue by the way…….), I can’t even play hot join half the time. Before the patch, at least I could get into the hot join matches during off-hours.

It totally doesn’t help that ALL servers say x/20 on the selection screen as you are unable to tell what the actual player limit is – is it 5vs5 with 10 possible spectators or 8vs8 with 4 possible spectators? I’m really tired of manually hovering over every single match hoping that one of those 14/20 ones is an underpopulated 8vs8 instead of a full 5vs5.

Right now, I feel like I want to play instead of standing around in the mists queuing and waiting and refreshing the selection screen for 15+ minutes – and the game is making it really difficult for me.

Balthazar Back Piece on Trading Post

The reward tracks were added so people could achieve items that were previously PvE only, through planing PvP. I just assumed that the Balthazar skin worked the same way: you could obtain it in PvE without playing PvP. “Play as you want”, and all. So no, it wasn’t obvious.

Shame for those who lost out.

There would of course be ways to give people who finished the reward track the skin back, but those who spent a bunch of gold…. probably not getting any compensation.

Random Armor in Store, again?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I like the new armor too, but I really wish the armor was released at points in time that made sense. Somebody else suggested a few weeks ago to release Lion’s Arch survivor scraps armor when we fought there. The Rox/Braham/Kasmeer/Jory armors, weapon skins and hairstyles were released at some random point later, not when the characters were introduced.

Sales would go up a lot if those skins were released at the “right” point in time: when everybody wants them.

It’s 2 TOTAL, not 2 per track.

Custom arenas only allow 2 tiers per day, but solo and team have no limit. They are tracked separately.

Can you please write this sort of info on the reward track UI directly? I wasted a bunch of time in hotjoin today because the track stopped progressing, but didn’t give me any indication of why.

It was supposed to reset. They announced that they’d be resetting with the patch, and then it was only 2 achieves needed to complete it. I believe the bug is with those who did 2/2 and don’t now have the option to do 4/4 in the remainder of the month.

They specifically said that it wasn’t going to be reset.

Before April 15, we could finish 2 PvE and 2 PvP monthlies, now it is 4 monthlies in total. One of the two “Completionist” monthlies vanished from the list (or maybe they were merged?). Some people’s achievements were reset, others’ weren’t. It’s obviously broken either way.

Yeah, you don’t have to hang out in the 1-15 “human” map. There are other 1-15 maps that you can explore to very quickly level your character, you can access them through an asura gate in Divinity’s Reach (upstairs).

The downleveling is absolutely necessary – even when you’re leveled down, as a level 80 with level 80 traits and skills unlocked, runes on your armor and sigils on your weapons you will still sort of own anything on a lower level map; if your stats weren’t leveled down, everything in your vicinity would simply explode and ruin everybody else’s playing experience there

Same here. Only 10 Daily Achivements?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I’m the other way round, I AM a fan of combining PvE, PvP and WvW achievements into one big category. I’m also happy that IF you PvP at all, your play counts towards achievements that used to be PvE only (condition remover, daily kills, I assume condition applier and skill interrupter).

I am no fan of reducing the total number of daily achievements to do to 66%. (yesterday 15 in total, today 10 in total)

This change was advertised as “this makes it more flexible for the players”, but the opposite is happening.

I’m a bit of an allrounder and I used to get 7-8 PvE and 4 PvP achievements every day. Now I’ll get 8 in total most days. My boyfriend doesn’t want to play WvW or PvP and usually stops after 5 daily AP; he used to have a choice of 5 out of 8 total PvE achievements, now 5 out of 6 so he has to do what’s on the menu, rather than picking whatever he likes best. We’re two completely different player personalities and neither of us feels we have more flexibility – on the contrary.

I don’t understand all the fascination with waypoints. In a game that goes out of it’s way to supposedly encourage world exploration, waypoints specifically push people to actually avoid exploring.

Uhm… other than the fact that exploring the area is a prerequisite… you can only use them after having explored the respective area.

And again on every single further character, so the game kitten well makes sure that you do your share of exploring, and re-exploring.

Underwater feature pack ideas...

Pixelpumpkin.4608

… let’s collect them!

So now we know that we’ll be fighting the jungle dragon and not the deep sea dragon for the foreseeable future, but that shan’t stop us from collecting ideas for an underwater expansion feature pack.

Gameplay / Mechanics

  1. balancing of underwater skills across all classes
  2. evaluation of underwater downed skills
  3. make aquabreathers proper armor items (make them craftable, include all normal stat combos, add exotic and ascended recipes)
  4. allow for separate builds on land and under water

Cosmetics

  1. more aquabreather skins
  2. Minis should not be auto-stowed when entering or leaving water. Land minis that don’t have “swimming” animations should simply float in a bubble of air.
  3. Under water, in-game mail should be delivered by a penguin instead of a pigeon.

Content / Lore

  1. Deep sea dragon
  2. Largos NPCs, and expansion on Largos lore

Why does underwater combat have to suck?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I’m not sure how many answers you’ve got above but I’ll try to give you a proper answer.

Even though GW2 has a 3D combat system it is essentially 2D with some vertical components. Ground targeting circles are 2D. When you move to fully 3D underwater combat this all falls apart, essentially, and there is no ground targeting of area effects. This destroys whole utility skill lines such as traps and makes the weapon sets dull. Many problems with the camera, depth perception, etc also get exposed. Human failings are also exposed in tracking targets in 3D.

There are other problems too with the downed states, the incapable state you’re in when you are on the water surface, rebreathers as replacement equipment for helmets, inability to change land utilities when underwater (and visa versa), sharing of cooldown timers between land and underwater skills, sharing traits between land and underwater, and so on. Technically there is a big shortfall between land combat and underwater combat and nobody should think that there’s only a quick fix needed to get it right.

All of this is true!

Whenever I’m not 100% happy with underwater combat, I say to myself, “well, more to fix/add/change when they release the underwater expansion”. I’m an optimist! (Is there a thread to collect ideas for that, yet?)

For me, only engineers and elementalists are slow underwater. I can hit and hit and hit the enemies and their healthbars won’t go down even with rampager or berserker gear.

I can only comment on engi because I don’t know my elementalist well enough yet, but it doesn’t feel slow to me at all. The harpoon gun skills kind of suck for damage (except #2) but bombs and grenades are wonderful. Some other utility skills are more useful under water than on land, so my typical under water skills are completely different from my typical land skills. I used to think that underwater combat was clunky and slow, but that was before I remembered that I had kits.

Are you kidding me? having complete control of pets, including switching to live pets makes it incredible in all modes. Many times in 1v1s if the other player is at 10-15% health, i can finish them off with my pet. Then it becomes a downed fight, which I have never lost on my ranger. And don’t forget the CC you can switch to, like the wolf fear.

Right but examine what you’re saying here. You’re saying that rangers have to use their pet skills and even choose their pets, which are fundamentally vital to playing a ranger, just to have downed abilities that come close to everyone else’s. That illustrates just how weak it truly is. I should not have to sacrifice one or both of my two pet slots (which rangers need to make full use of to be effective in combat) to not be completely defenseless while downed. If anything, take away pet control while downed and give me a balanced set of downed skills that are on par with every other class.

And naming very specific circumstances in which the ranger’s downed skills work effectively is also not very substantial. Yeah, in a circumstance when you’re fighting one-on-one against an enemy who has exhausted all of their skills and is a few hits from downing themselves, ranger excels, woopee. Meanwhile every other class can defend themselves from multiple enemies, and evade execution in some way, without sacrificing a major part of their combat effectiveness and regardless of enemy HP.

“Have to”? Be glad that you can use your class mechanic at all. I main an engi and if I could use my F1-F4 in down state, I’d be over the moon, lol.

Feedback/Questions: Town clothes, Costumes, & Combat

I just want to keep town clothes the way they are now. I don’t want to have them as ‘armour skins’ I want them as normal everyday clothes. You don’t wear plate armour to go to bed do you?

I’m a roleplayer, and my private detective character relies on having a horrifically coloured shirt on when he meets clients! Now I won’t be able to colour it.

As for my asura, she loves to dress as an explorer when going to cities, and other relatively safe areas in Tyria. As I understand it, this outfit will not be possible in the new ‘Wardrobe’ system.

I feel your pain. I feel the same way. Some of my characters enjoy having an “after work” life and wearing casual clothes instead of their adventuring gear.

A five hour window in between boss rotation rounds is super inconvenient.

Doing mega boss fights involves a LOT of standing around and waiting already, but at least right now, after fighting Tequatl or the Wurm, you can head right on to the Karka Queen without having to wait another 40 minutes. :\

The problem with the engi down skills is that yes, interrupting a stomp works, but the bomb takes 6 seconds to charge which is never ever enough time. 39 out of 40 times you get stomped long before that skill becomes available, even after interrupting once, so I nominate Engi #3 as the uselessest of down skills.

Megaserver algorithm: using block list?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Then that’s the option you use for reporting them. If anet’s going to give you trouble for it, tell them to give the option to report them for harassment, which does unfortunately take more forms than chat.

Like all these people?

As of right now, you can’t even annotate your report with remarks of your own, so all ANet see is a wrongful report, which is a bannable offense. (I’m not going there.)

However, my question was not how to report griefers, my question (to ANet) is whether the megaserver algorithm takes this information into account.

I assume that the algorithm goes by these criteria (in order of priorty) -

  1. party members
  2. guild members
  3. contact list
  4. home server

… and it would be super useful if it did this -

  1. party members
  2. block list
  3. guild members
  4. contact list
  5. home server

I don’t see how this is an unreasonable request, or, at this point, even just an unreasonable question to ask.

If you can see them in chat, they arent on your block list then, are they?

I am well aware. I will rephrase it:

They can badmouth you in chat without you even knowing, or you can unblock them and put up with them but at least know what’s happening. Neither of the two situations is desirable.

As for everything else, report them for harassment and ask for other players to do the same. Eventually he’s going to grow up or get thrown out of the game.

There is no option for reporting “Harrassment” in terms of general griefing, only verbal abuse which in most cases isn’t applicable. It is not currently possible to report griefers.
