Killed the wurm again, and again no achievement.
At this point in time I am really disappointed – I have reported this bug on the forums, in game, and via email. Technical support only told me “thanks for reporting, but no, we can’t give you the achievement.”
This is after dozens of hours of waiting around for the same fight, the majority at 4am local time.

Thank you!
I wish I’d thought to paint water quaggan the other way round – with his/her feet up

I don’t even know how this started, I think I just wanted to do something with burning wood and suddenly quaggans.
It’s burnt wood, glazed clay, sewn kozo paper and etched slate + acrylic paint.
Wish I was as carefree as these little guys. I think air quaggan is my favourite. My boyfriend likes tree quaggan the best.

Here’s what I think…
Autobalance doesn’t do a thing. Here’s what happens every time:
- 4 vs 2
- somebody gets autobalanced onto the losing team: 3 vs 3
- a new player joins the winning team: 4 vs 3
I don’t see why players are even allowed to join the winning team when both teams have the same number of players.
At the moment, you don’t play for points to win. You play to get an early headstart, so new players are guaranteed to join YOUR team and not the other one, thus ensuring the victory by player numbers rather than better play.
I know that teams eventually even out at 5 vs 5 or 8 vs 8 or whatever, but at that time in most cases one team is too far ahead for the rest of the game to be interesting.
As for autobalancing: not only are you guaranteed to get the win bonus, but also an additional autobalance bonus of 25 rank points, which is really nice and all the incentive anybody needs to help out the other team, so that part is working at least.
However, in order to have the chance to get the guaranteed win and the autobalance bonus, you have to be on the dominating (by player numbers) team first, so this, too, just makes people join the winning team instead of the losing team whenever they have a chance. Autobalance on its own is, therefore, not helpful enough making the games more balanced and interesting.
TL;DR: players should be forced to join the losing team when both teams have even player numbers.

I was semi-hardcore until a couple of weeks ago and have since made a successful transition back to “casual”.
Most days I just don’t even log in. When I do, it’s mostly to check whether my friends are online (most days they aren’t, I think they’re playing minecraft right now).
It’s freed up a LOT of time in my daily schedule for other things.

They never expanded on the Personality system. It was just useless after launch.
Some of us liked to keep certain personality balanced on certain characters. It added flair.
I’m sad that my main’s profile no longer says “Diplomate”. Or my boyfriend’s main is no longer a “Scoundrel”.

Of course the game knows the difference between a player character, a mob and an NPC. It knows it well enough to use different colored fonts (lol?)
That is done after the figures are drawn, not before or during. If you understood modeling, you would understand that.
I guess that’s why before the figures are drawn, the bosses don’t attack me, because they don’t know yet that they’re hostile? … oh wait

I agree very much. I’ve been thinking this ever since the culling algorithm was improved: it’s nice to see other players, but I still don’t see what’kittenting me!
Also kind of difficult to target invisible bosses.

Oh, one thing:
Unequipping or modifying the weapons in any way will reset this modifier! Priming requires a personal connection with your weapon.
I would probably take the “unequipping” part out of there. People swap weapons for all kinds of things, for instance because they’re asked to bring a specific weapon set to a complicated boss fight, or use different setups for PvE and PvP. It would also probably put elementalists at a disadvantage (as they can’t swap weapons without unequipping) and engis at an advantage (as they don’t have that many weapons available to swap out by unequipping anyway and I have to assume that using kits wouldn’t reset the modifyer). Then again, the entire priming system would put engis at a disadvantage (same as weapon mastery achievements) because kits.

I love the idea.
I’m not 100% certain the exact recipes you thought up would be how I would have implemented it, but I certainly would love to grind away for a legendary that had
- my choice of skin
- my choice of shade
- my choice of particle effect
- my choice of footprints
- could be named by me
Especially if there was an option to leave out the footprints/shade/etc in case I didn’t want them.
I’m running around with a set of Dragon Jade weapons on my engi and I’d be motivated to put significant time into turning them into modifying them ever so slightly.

I’d wear this. I believe the parts would combine very well with other sets such as human medium tier two, or the different heavy armors that look like fish scales.

OP. You’re totally missing the best of them all. Sylvari females are just the tops. British accents and everything. Level a Sylvari female. You won’t regret it.
“This rose has thorns, here they are!” drives me insane enough to not play a female sylvari ever because I really don’t want to hear that sentence even more often…

I admit it’s a bit weird having a schoolgirl outfit in a semi-medieval game, but at the same time few people wear a complete outfit anyway, most mix and match. And I could already see some awesome combinations with this for my Necro.
Sadly by the looks of it, if it ever makes it in to the game, it’ll be as a costume.
Yeah, but… we can’t mix and match anymore…….

Well, that’s a bit of a disappointment…
So far, I ran the Balthazar reward track and the Arah track once; then I switched to the Krytan track because I thought, might as well start unlocking the region tracks if I have nothing else to do. But I was hoping for a few nice surprises on the way. :\

Forcing people to join the losing team is nonsense.
Playing poorly at the start should NEVER be a good strategy.
Playing poorly at the start (or at any point) wouldn’t be a strategy. The team would have 1 more player but would still be behind in points. The winning team would soon have another player, evening out player numbers. The losing team would only get more members until such time as it would be ahead in numbers, in which case the formerly winning team would be in the same position, and get the next new player. Nobody would play for kittenty scores… it wouldn’t make sense. ò_Ô

How about something that makes actual sense, for example proximity bombs that go off when a stealthed person is near (unless the bombs determine the proximity by looking at people), same for exploding plant, and glue shot should definitely cover an invisible person…. I’m sure all classes have some skills that should already counter stealth one way or the other if, you know, physics.

For the second time in 2 days.
I got a single hit in, the wurm just dropped less than a second after spawning. Got all the loot chests because I was stacked on him and used AoE, but many others didn’t manage to target it in time. I’m sure it’s supposed to be up for a liiiittle longer.

Like many others, I would suggest the following small changes:
- Remove cities from the megaserver system to give people a sense of community back
- Add the “RP” flag so roleplayers are grouped together in the open world.
Do it for both roleplayers looking for other roleplayers, and players who aren’t interested in RP and don’t want to any RP in general chat.
(While we’re at it: fixing the range of emotes to /say, or creating a new chat cannel, etc. would also help.)

Two weeks into this, finally my two cents. I assume that everything has been said already, so I’ll just add the one point that frustrates me the most.
ANet, you can give us world boss events that require an organized zerg of 150 people, or you can take away our ability to create an overflow for an organized zerg – but not both.
I mean, obviously you can, but there is an obvious contradiction there in what you expect players to do. It’s not working. It creates nothing but frustration right now – both for organized guilds who attempt to do the wurm fight and can’t get all their people on one map, and for everybody else who doesn’t even have a shot of ever killing the wurm.
- If you want us to do organized zerg world events like the wurm, that’s fine, but then give guilds an upgrade that allows them to create guild-only overflows.
- If you want us to pug up for world events, that’s fine too, but then make the events scale down so they can be done with a number of people that can realistically be taxied into one map that is already used by other players who do hearts or just stand around or whatever.

I really don’t understand the new helm and shoulders, especially the helm. We already have a helmet for the “oversized horns” theme as part of Braham’s armour set and that one actually looks like something a norn might wear.
This thing looks very strange indeed. It really does have the look of a power rangers monster as people have said, for the horns are a bizarre shape and the rest of the armour has stubby bits on that are suggestive of power cells or generic sci fi nodules.
The toxic shoulder and arms looked like what they were supposed to be. They had glowy bits, they had a clear theme and people could justify buying them. The scarlet parts matched the helm and had glowy techno bits, they also matched some asura armour….but these are just out of nowhere.
I like the idea of the cash shop and paying to make my character look cool, but the things on offer are so bizarre that nobody in their right mind would actually but them, even with gold. They probably wouldn’t wear these items if even they were free.
It shouldn’t be hard to come up with an idea that will sell on the cash shop. Heck, everyone went mad for the monocles, lets make another one of them and people will buy it. People liked the grenth hood too. Why is it proving so hard to match up what we clearly want with what is being put in the store?
I think what people really really want to buy is a) “everything the NPCs have” (hair, outfit, weapons, etc) and b) “something that is all the rage RIGHT NOW”.
The new skins are neither. There’s zero connection to anything happening in the game right now.

I noticed the same the other day when I was making some outfit changes.
We used to be able to do this, now we’re not. Is it an oversight, unfortunate side effect, or by design? What are the alternatives and how costly are they? Valid questions that I wish ANet would answer.

The “Daily Orrian Killer” achievement is in the same “slot” as daily story dungeon, daily explorable dungeon and daily fractal runner, so there’s no problem there.
A higher level group can probably “pull” a low level player through a fractal/dungeon path, and they can escort you in Orr all the same. But neither of the two are required.

Same goes for pact order armor: now usable by any character outside the order (with correct armor weight), without having to transmute the skin onto a white item.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I am convinced that there are two (or more) completely separate code collections, and they frequently forget to fix a bug across them all.
For instance, depending which version of GW2 is used for the most recent patch, there may be 2 Advisor Okk NPCs standing in the same place in Southsun, or just one. Also depending on the version, I might be seeing a lot of square artifact disco lights, or not. These effects have been alternating for many months now.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I could live with that.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Every piece of gear that was bound to a class can now be worn by any class and race if the skin is unlocked.
Not any class, it still has to be the same armor weight.
Luckily for the OP, back items don’t have an armor weight.

Skins gained from personal story:
- light Apostle (formerly Rubric) chest from L39 personal story
- medium Marauder (formerly Commando) shoulders from L74 personal story
- medium Marauder (formerly Commando) chest from L77 personal story
- medium Marauder (formerly Commando) pants from L78 personal story
- medium Stalwart chest from L39 personal story
- heavy Heavy Scale chest from L39 personal story
Here’s what could happen -
- Since the game “knows” which personal story chapters your light/medium/heavy armor class characters have completed, it would be easy to write a script that rewards these skins back to those characters. Maybe ANet will do that one day.
- It’s more likely that the entire sets will be added to PvP reward tracks (as, hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, the Tribal/Masquerade set and the full Rubric set will).
- Otherwise those of us who don’t have these skins anymore (I had no idea they were hard to obtain when I leveled my first character and salvaged the items and didn’t unlock all of them in PvP) will have to create three new characters and rush them through the personal story up to level 39 (light & heavy armor) or level 78 (medium armor) with four level 80 friends.

It’s not just event credit, there is other things that should be retained when you reconnect within a few minutes, examples that I remember happening to me:
[…] put us back on the map AND server that we DCed from*. And on the same map and server, maybe retain any active buffs required to complete the content.
I’ve had random disconnects before and it screwed me up quite a few times, examples:
- DC in Southsun, reconnect, end up in a completely different overflow in the middle of an angry mob instead of the event that you were just partaking in / a liberated camp / the zerg you were running with
- DC in Southsun, the Settler/Consortium buff is gone, and you have to WP (if you’re not in combat immediately, see above) and fight your way back to your original location
- DC in Labyrinthine Cliffs, logged back in, be somewhere up the airship stripped of all aspect charges, left with no other option than to WP and start over
- DC in Chaos Clockwork zerg, you come back in, different overflow or original map where the event has been finished
- DC in Scarlet dungeon, entire party was kicked even though I never left the party and was back in game within 2 minutes
From Disconnection grace period – a thread that (I think) got even more relevant with the mega-server introduction, as we’re basically playing in overflows all the time now.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
The achievements aren’t strictly split up anymore, so writing “PvP:” or “PvE:” in front of them won’t do the trick. For instance, PvP kills count towards Daily (PvE) kills. But WvW kills probably don’t.
I agree that it should be more more obvious, maybe different icons that show PvE, WvW, PvP or a combination of those where applicable would help.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
On the other hand, once you use it, it will be available for any or all characters to use simultaneously, for one charge.
For one charge each time you use it :P
The distinction between “skin” and “regular item with a specific look” used to be that a skin didn’t require a transmutation stone or crystal to be used.
It would have been fair to “refund” players 1 transmutation charge for each skin (not item) that is stored in the wardrobe to retain that difference.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Yes: either you use a transmutation charge, or you continue to use up your bank space; doesn’t matter whether it is a skin or an actual item with stats.
Win-win for ANet!
