I think last I checked (last weekend) 800 was about 24g and change. so probably close to 125g.
Ahh come on guys, i was just trolling and it worked like a charm. I mean the OP… if he wants to know if there are still people playing? Why doesnt he log in and take a look.. i mean come on..
I didn’t bite, but there are a few servers where it definitely feels like there are about 5 people sometimes. Makes me appreciate my home server more when I guest there.
I would love it to be weapon skills. Especially on my ranger. I’d love to swap out all the abilities on the short bow for something useful.
So… Has the game gotten any better? It was pretty bad when I left. Way too casual and unrewarding. How’s the playerbase? I haven’t played since about 2-3 months out of release.
I left for three months and came back and I don’t see that anything changed except for missing a few living story events (and by missing I mean I wasn’t able to participate, I really didn’t miss anything).
I’m enjoying playing it again right now at least. There are some changes coming in the next patch that seem like they might help. We’ll see.
I’ve spent about $40 buying gems for character slots and bank expansions. I’ll probably spend more because I like the system. What I mean is that with subscriptions games you pay for whatever content they release and you get the same as everyone else. Here I can choose to pay as much or as little as I like and when I do pay I am paying for things I want like bank slots, or armor skins or even some gold if I am a few short to buy something I really want.
More companies should adopt this policy, not the pay to win stores a lot of free MMO’s have.
Quaggans deserve more love
I agree, I’d love to see the Krait lovin’ them much more. Maybe they could even open a restaurant that served Quaggan.
Yeah. I mean, glad Ms. Bayer gets to have a job and all, but emphasizing social media when you don’t even put all the information on the main site first seems like a confusion in priorities.
And what’s with “This is where we talk to you – and more importantly, where you to talk to us –about what the Guild Wars 2 community is doing both in and out of game.” about the Facebook pg? You already have an entire set of forums for user feedback. Shouldn’t that be emphasized first?
Use social media: trend on twitter, get 5 million likes on facebook. Fine. But just give the official site all of that information you’ll be sharing thru the other media too, please.
If they want the type of interaction you would get on Facebook maybe they should change the structure and functionality of the forums to reflect that.
Regardless of that, I agree that it is silly that their own forums are not their primary form of communication to the community.
Whenever I come to the forums, mainly the general forums, I always see hate, negativity and downright anger from a lot of people who are playing GW2. It always confused me. If you dislike a game so much that you say things like “This game is horrible for so-so reason” or “This game isn’t good anymore, nothing is fun”, why do you continue to waste your time here? Unlike some other MMO’s, Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have a subscription fee, letting you go away for a while, to let you blow off some steam and wait for things to hopefully improve. Yet most people just stick it out, staying in the same game they just called horrible or not fun.
So please, tell me why you still play this game? What keeps bringing you back to the world of Tyria?
Note: This entire post is genuine and contains no sarcasm to mock forum users, no matter how silly I may think some of them can be.
When people express negativity they are seeking to enact change but don’t necessarily know how do it, or they don’t have a clear idea of how their issue could be solved so they throw it out to the masses. There is hope that someone else may feel that way and empathize and have a suggestion that might be a real solution to their problem. An even slimmer hope that someone might pass it on to the design team and then an even slimmer hope that it may actually be changed in the game.
Sometimes I am sure it is just people venting their frustration; and being someone who works for a company that puts customer service as priority 1 – we look at it as someone expressing unmet needs. It may come across as looking whiny, or rude or as anger but in the end it is the same thing. Someone is unsatisfied with us or our service on some level and it bears looking into. Not everything is going to be a valid complaint, but to the person making the complaint it is very valid.
Sometimes people just need to hear someone acknowledging their distress even though they may not be willing to actually make the changes they want. Just knowing they have been heard can be a big thing.
It might not hurt if we had CM’s that would do that here, but that’s just my opinion.
As to why I play; I play because it’s free. I feel no commitment. I can stop playing for three months while I play other games and come back when I feel like it.

Its like Mario..you saved the princess, game over..move to another game
Sorry Mario, your Princess is in another castle.
My wife doesn’t feel comfortable with melee based classes. She currently plays a ranger.
I’m not attached at all. The only thing that would bother me about them being deleted would be the money/laurels/dungeon tokens I lost by losing the character.
As it stands when I hit 80 on a character, I gear them up within an hour and then I have no real goal for them after that and I usually move on to an alt. I’ll still play them all, I usually swap them out for running dungeons and doing events etc. but no real attachment.
That’s just me though. I know some people invest a lot of time into one individual character whereas I am an altaholic.
Guest to a low pop server. Trust me you will enjoy the event more and get your achievement. I guested to a low pop and did Jormag the other day; with 10 people it was actually a bit of a challenge.
Yes, Colin’s blog post referenced above is the best reason for hope that I’ve seen to date. There he talks about ability progression, which I believe is one of the best ways to provide a sense of progression without devolving to a gear grind. Good stuff.
Actually I completely agree. It makes sense that the more work you put into your character the more skilled that character gets. Not the better equipped it gets.
If it’s between RNG and time gated. I’ll take time gated. At least with time gated I know that in 5 days I will be able to get what I want. With RNG if your luck isn’t in you may never get what you’re after.
It’s okay, GW2 gives you both.
The problem isn’t so much in having a daily task, it’s the snowball effect it seems to cause in Developers brains. “Ok we gave them dailies, and we still need more content. I know, let’s give them something else that isn’t a daily quest but it can only be once a day.”
And then it continually snowballs from there, as more and more daily or time gated things keep getting implemented. As the MMO gets older, if you want to keep up on daily tasks you have dedicate your playtime to nothing else. GW2 isn’t there yet but this is a recurring trend in MMO’s and I hope we can stop with the pattern in GW2 soon.
It always amuses me when I see stuff like this. What does it matter if all the majority of people do is run CoF p1? That’s what they have decided they want to do, and that it gives them the best reward vs time. Instead of looking at something to create interest in other dungeons, they decide to nerf it across the board.
I look at it like this; if you own a restaurant and you have 10 menu choices and 90% of the people order 1 specific choice all the time, and the others sell sporadically what does this lead you to believe? That the other choices are just as good as choice 1 and that people just don’t know it so you need to force them to try the other ones? So you purposefully make your best selling dish less tasty and appealing to encourage more people to eat other meals. Seems like you would need to look at your other dishes and realize they aren’t as good as you thought and make them more tasty and appetizing to people.
kitten backwards thinking and I would fire someone who proposed to that me if I ran the business.
I think you should rethink your analogy. There is difference between “buy” and “gain”. As in you are in a restaurent to “buy” and not to gain. And in a dungeon to “gain” and “sell”. The only think remotely close to this dungeon change … well nothing.
My analogy is fine you are just trying to apply the wrong parameters to it. Basically if you design multiple things, and people only like 1, you don’t change the 1 to make it worse you change the others that people aren’t interested in.
“you don’t change the 1 to make it worse you change the others that people aren’t interested in.”
Not sure where you are going at. By changing the reward, they did not make the “option” 1 worse, its still the same, but make the other options more appealing for Pve players in general.
If we go back to your analogy, it’s still bad. I didn’t know most of us “grind” option 1 in a restaurent until we exploid…
Edit: At this point, R.I.P cof 1 farmer. You will be missed.
They are making the change to encourage others to try something else. I’m sorry that you are being to literal to understand what I am getting at.
I’m sorry for the design that no one wants to run there other dungeons, but that’s not my fault so fix what’s wrong with the other dungeons and don’t make changes to discourage players to run the one they want. As long as people are playing the game what does it matter if someone runs the same dungeons repeatedly, runs multiple dungeons or runs into a wall the whole time they are online?
Hint: It doesn’t matter.
I was hoping this was a thread about dead Quaggons. We need more dead Quaggons.

I’m envious, even with the clipping. I can never get anyone to run Arah.

Anyone think the prices of lodestones will be coming down. Right now there pretty expensive. I know there mainly used for cosmetic items but it would be nice to have a few of those.
I hope so, I sell all mine. I imagine one day I will need to buy some and hope they are cheaper then :P
I’ve never had any experience other than positive in regards to rezzing or being rezzed. I always have people help me when I am down and vice versa.
All I got out of this was that something happened in PvP that got the OP mad and now he is here venting. Venting is good but not to be taken seriously.
If you’re like me it doesn’t matter. Once I got 80, I geared up in a day, and rolled an alt and got it 80 and did the same thing, and again and again.
It’s courtesy to call out an event for others to be able to join in, but it is by no means required. They were jerks about it to be sure so I don’t feel sorry for them but in general it’s a nice thing to do for people in your zone.
Let me take a guess. GEM STORE 800gems.
Better than
RNG CHEST,120 gems, 0.00000001% drop rate
yes, but what about adding it to the game and no gems involved? You know, how it used to be in gw1? Why is it that every time an armor is added its automatically has to do something with gems? wtf
Free game makes money how? That’s right, you wouldn’t have any new content without those gems.
Straight outta Hoelbrak is on the Norn top 40 right now.
Right now, CoF gives the biggest reward for the time spent, among all dungeons. If ArenaNet nerfs it, people will go to the next best dungeon. ArenaNet could nerf everything, but they won’t, because they are afraid their players would leave.
That might be true (I actually agree with every word you typed), but if that is the case, then why not up the rewards for the other dungeons to match their expected time invested?
It is, after all, the job of the developers to keep tabs on this kind of thing and alter the content accordingly.
It would be a never ending tweak because people will always seek and identify which one will hold the most benefit vs time invested. Even if they managed to get them all similar, one would be identified as the absolute best and we would still have the same issue.
Lack of a LFG system. Sure people will still be running CoF non stop but it would make it easier for people wanting to pop into other dungeons to do so. Yes I know there is a website for LFG.
If there are custom areas for dueling currently I see no reason for it to be expanded. Those that want to duel have an area to do so, and it doesn’t bleed over into anyone elses game.
We discussed this in guild not about karka but quaggan. Decided a group of quaggan was a “moist”.
cuddle of quaggan
A “buffet” of Quaggan. Yum.
This game is a single player rpg with a chat box if you feel like socializing.
I gear up all of my characters to exotic level and then just play the game. If I am doing fractals and I get rings, I put them on whatever alt is appropriate. If I look up and have enough laurels or guild commendations for an amulet or trinket, then I buy one for whichever character I think needs it at the time.
Ascended items are neat things I get as I am playing. I don’t try to farm them and don’t freak out one of my characters might have not gotten her ring yet. It’ll happen eventually. ATM I have two fully exotic/ascended characters with 35-40 AR and one that’s halfway there with 25.
As far as hording resources, there are two metaphorical truths that apply to nearly all games…
If you save your special weapon for the next bigger, badder robot crab, you will never get to use it.
and
It doesn’t matter what card you played, the one you draw next will almost always seem to have been better.
That about sums it up.
Would love to play as a Kodan. I don’t see why Tengu is popular personally, I really dislike them.
Just because you dislike something doesn’t mean others won’t love it. I personally detest the Norn – especially with the way they redesigned their body shapes from GW1 to GW2 – and desperately want to have a Tengu Ranger. Taste is subjective.
Which is why I said “personally” stating that it doesn’t fit my taste. Obviously others like them if they are one of the most popular choices….

I find the constant events to be just fluff. I haven’t seen one yet I want to participate in. I don’t find they are fun at all. Yet my gaming experience hasn’t been lessened by them. It hasn’t hurt my characters at all not participating in them.
I would like to see some more real content added though, only because I like seeing new areas.
So the flamethrower should be what? A blowtorch you hold in one hand?
I try to keep an open mind but this seems like an incredibly silly thing to complain about.
Good luck on this though.
Funny, we got the message that it was one hour and it was 5 minutes. Reboot right in the middle of a long story quest, right at the end.
TC is well populated but I have guested elsewhere and I can’t believe how scarce people are. It was fun doing Jormag and Teq etc with only a dozen people!
You’ll never get those people who are complete carebears to play WvW. PvE is like a little sandbox where nothing bad happens and if you “fail” then every failure is under controlled conditions so it’s easy to fix. WvW, well you can basically have your entire map taken if your server doesn’t make the effort or have the manpower.
And to be perfectly honest, I’d rather not have PvE farmers coming along to WvW taking up spaces, especially during prime time.
This guy right here.
After reading this, I am definitely scared now to play WVW. Clearly WVW players (at least these two) have faced danger and spit in its eye. They have confronted the risk of having “their entire map taken” (shudder, the horror!), and no doubt prevailed while covering themselves with glory!. These tough, battle hardened WVW veterans are clearly way outta my gaming league…I’m glad they have made me understand that….
I’m hangin with the “care-bears”. The dangerous realm of WVW needs to be staffed by those made of sterner stuff than me. But allow me to say to the WVW heros: Thank you for your service!
Actually what I meant was that guy right there was why I never play PvP.
I love my Guardian to death. Also recently started playing my elementalist again, she sat at 50 for the longest time. Then I read a few guides and really learned to play it better and now I love it. Once you learn how not to be squishy it’s a whole new world.
Warrior was my first 80, just because it was so simple to level. I found I really didn’t care for it at end game though and dumped it right after gearing it up decently. Got the Guardian to 80 next and I find I am much more useful in that role. Looking forward to my Ele hitting 80 soon.
You gear up your character in a few hours and roll an alt. Then when you get bored you stop playing for a couple months and come back anytime you want cause it’s free!

I want to log in, click a button and be 80.
Awesome, thanks!
Anyone have a working link for any of Lopez’s guides since he took them down?
Since Lopez hasn’t updated his guides after all the patch changes and has taken them down; is there anything comparable out there? Looking for a good condition build (no videos please).
Haha thanks for the replies folks. It’s good to know how the market stands. I guess it’s good that noting is particularly high so I really don’t need to make much gold to buy things I need for my alts then!
I left for a couple months and I see the prices of Ectos have plummeted, which was to be expected given the farming going on.
What’s good in the market these days?
