Mobs respawn too fast in this game.
I am punished for exploring, because the quick respawn means fighting my way both into and out of every area, especially caves and fortresses.
I am punished for trying to challenge myself and access difficult areas, because I simply can’t kill the mobs fast enough to proceed before the first ones respawn and aggro.
I am punished for killing veterans, because the normal mobs around it respawn before I can kill it.
I am punished for using dodges and kiting in combat, because I am much more likely to aggro the respawns behind me.
A few months ago a dev posted that the base respawn rate is something like 90-120 seconds. This is simply too fast for a solo player.
Mobs should have a dynamic respawn timer that checks the number of players in the area. At the very least, the amount of time should be increased significantly for leveling zones beyond the starter zones. These zones are often deserted on my realm. No one needs the mobs to respawn so quickly there.
The timer ruins immersion and makes me reluctant to explore all the amazing areas that the designers created. It makes every area feel like a grind instead of an adventure. This game is extremely well done, but the timer sours my experience in every play session. Please change it.
It’s tough but not impossible and certainly challenging and I like it for the most part. I solo a lot as well and it’s about the only time I find I have to really play my class just right, using certain abilities at the right time etc instead of just snoozing through content. I’ve definitely felt the way you feel sometimes so I do empathize but when I step back and look at it, I think I would be sad if they changed it. Just like Orr, I find it so boring now I never go.
They are in a very few select zones waiting on timers for bosses to spawn to press #1 and collect loot.
I’m being facetious about it but I am not lying either.
No and for a very basic reason. Mob mentality. What could be a useful tool will be abused not by elitists who know their stuff, but by elitists who don’t and really in most cases should be the ones getting not invited.
Too many people are sheep, or follow mob mentality. I don’t mean that to be derogatory but to identify it as an actual issue. People hear someone say that X build is the only viable one and that X gear is the only viable gear, and because they don’t know themselves if it is or not they take it as gospel because they think that person knew what they were talking about. Now that person will only take people with X gear and X spec and they don’t even know why, only because someone said so.
This is why people make guides and specs for others to follow because most don’t know themselves. Now you have a tool that let’s those people make the decisions on who joins groups, and pretty soon you have rule and not the exception and it damages the whole community.
I’ve seen it happen, it will happen, and I don’t want to see it here. You don’t need to agree with me, but that’s my experience and I am against gear inspect.
This is why I will never have 100% completion. I have no desire to WvW and I am not going to go just to complete the map. That’s my decision though. What do I need map completion for anyway?
What happens is, the game freezes up completely and I have restart my computer. Is this a system problem or is it a game problem?
Happens at least once a day for me. Usually after I have played one character for a long period of time. When I log onto another character and then zone, it freezes during zoning and never comes back and I have to hard reboot my comp.
I don’t know anything about programming or server management but it seems like the simplest solution to the issues at hand would be to have the overflow servers sync up with the main server so events run on the overflow server at the same time as the main.
Is that possible? If so, seems like a no brainer.

It’s great that they are tweaking things a bit to make them more diverse. I think they buffed the krait a wee bit much though. I was getting 2 shotted on my guardian at 65.
They are a couple thousand gold. Anyone with that much gold put a ton of work into that, either that or they are rich and bought the gold. Either way I see no issue.
They should of changed the way aggro works so mobs targeted people with more critical bonus, not nerfed something without any compensation. They pretty much removed almost 2-3 builds from every class.
No they didn’t… they nerfed an abused OP food buff.
Builds should never revolve around externally derived temporary bonuses… if one does, it means its a crutch that people are using to carry a crap build, or their own sub-par skills… food buffs should help to enhance not facilitate.
This /15char
The problem is that they tied laurels in to the dailies. Put laurels elsewhere and put the dailies back to how they used to be.
Yeah I already thought about that. But I couldn’t decide on his race. I did not want two characters of the same race. I thought about Human, but I fear they would be too similar to a Sylvari so I would have two almost identically looking characters.
Asura Necros are fun!
it’s not something new that many people complain about the game. They say that the game is not what they were promised would be. my question to you, why do you still play this game? there are lots of other MMOs out there. At least don’t bother the people who like this game, and if you have any suggestions how you would like to change “bad” stuff you can simply post it.
To promote change and discussion. To vent frustration in a place where others may empathize. Silence accomplishes nothing.
THE issue, and the only issue is that the servers can’t handle a mass group of people doing world bosses. The fps is so low most people are auto attacking cause abilities won’t go off but there are so many people the boss dies quick anyway.
I think guesting is a bad idea but I don’t think it is the cause of this situation.
How about you guys let him enjoy the story and keep your negative nonsense to yourselves?
I’m sorry I think you missed the part where someone states something publicly that it allows others to weigh in on their feelings as well.
It seems to me that A-Net is trying to cut out or strong arm small guild folks to join a
big guild. This could be avoided by making it possible for guilds to be in a alliance.
In that way a group of small guilds could band together and get done what a large
guild could do.There is nothing stopping you from forming an alliance with other guilds on your server.
That is a very sad way to implement new guild features/content. Please give some thought to your answers instead of being obtuse.
I am still baffled by this. Anet seems to have missed the mark by a wife margin on this. Thankfully it won’t effect my guild but that doesn’t mean I don’t empathize with those it does.
It’s very silly.
TC still has a lot of RP but I have seen a decline in it. Guesting has brought in a lot of people who could care less about RP and even worse it has brought in the trolls who think it great fun to torment RP’rs.
So there has become less in open areas and it has become more secluded.
Guardian would be a good choice since you mentioned it. Easy to level and do dungeons with, great at 80.
unfortunately for anet, they didnt understad the “endgame/farmers/mmo mentality” very well at first.
Your innocence makes me smile. I think a lot of us may have become a bit jaded but that statement just won’t fly.
use temple timers. easy to find when stuff spawns
That’s created new issues. Tarnished Coast is being overflowed on these events now – I had to miss Claw twice yesterday due it. Also people have been messing with the timers much more since guesting was introduced. They are rarely accurate anymore.
The GW2 dev team seem to have a fixation with dailies now – and this is a trend that I find somewhat disturbing, especially for a game that was touted as “above all that”
I invite you all to watch the GW2 dev manifesto, in case you’re interested in a good laugh:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35BPhT-KI1EWe were promised something different – and yet here is A-net, encouraging people grind away for dumb rewards. Did the same dev team that made this manifesto ALSO make the game? ‘cause it’s like GW2 is suffering from massive bipolar disorder.
I’ll say it one more time: “Dailies” are not gameplay. There is no difference between having a quest NPC tell you to “kill 10 centaurs” and have a daily objective of “10 underwater kills” – THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.
I don’t care that there are dailies. I get that a lot of people are into that… but the focus of GW2 (As stated in the manifesto) was something bigger, and deeper… So far I haven’t seen that. C’mon A-net – you can do better than this. This isn’t why a majority of us are playing GW2, or got into the series in the first place.
There’s a huge flaw in your understanding of daily achievements.
Here’s why:Dailies are not meant to be done in a hour (they can be, of course, and even quicker than that). They are by no means obligatory.
They are there so you are rewarded as you explore the world, join events and do other tasks you would normally be doing.
Dailies are not there to substitute quests. And they are not there to give you a challenge. It’s an extra reward layer for those day-to-day tasks you do with your friends. Crafting, gathering, killing, events, all these things are being done by people on a daily basis. This is a way to reward those people for just playing the game. Here’s my understanding of what some categories are trying to encourage you to do:
Daily Kill Variety:
As you walk about the game world, you inevitably run into hostile creatures and you (quite obviously) kill them. Which adds to the daily percentile for this task. By design the daily variety encourages the player to visit different areas in the game world and kill a variety of different creatures. As you do this, you are exploring. And as you are exploring, you are enjoying (hopefully) the beautiful scenery, the fights and rewards.Daily events:
Ties in with the variety, assuming your wandering around will take you to more places than only between queensdale and kessex. You will inevitably stumble upon events as you travel. This encourages you to participate in the events. ON top of adding to the daily completion, you actually get karma, exp and money for them. And only 5 are needed.Underwater Slayer:
Again, same as with the Daily Kill Variety, you are encouraged to dive into the nearest body of water and seeing as you will be killing stuff anyway, why not do it underwater. There’s always a chance you will stumble into an area you’ve never been to before or find a skill point in the depths of the ocean or whatever. Plus this ties in nicely with the DKV.Daily gatherer.
Easy to do and preps you for the daily crafter. You will never be standing still, so why not chop down a tree or mine some ore on the way to an event? By the time you complete this, you will have enough mats to complete the daily crafter. Two birds one…Axe i guess.Daily Crafter:
Not many people are into it. I suppose this was an incentive to get people warmed up for crafting. But as the system itself is not very useful until later levels, I can understand the lack of interest in this one. However doing the daily gatherer makes this a easy one.We can go on and on, but the point is, these tasks are there to provide you with a purpose, even if for a short amount of time.
This is more a reward for you doing random things throughout the game world. You would normally be crafting something, why not reward you for it? Gathering materials? More progress toward the daily reward. From the empirical evidence found in game, its easy to see how our community has become so impatient with these things. Be it trading levelling by playing for craft levelling, or running a newly opened dungeon until you hit the level ceiling (Fractals) before anyone else.
Prime example, guild missions have been released, what, a day ago? Someone’s done them already. Good on them, but won’t it be boring when you run out of things to do because you’re speeding through the content?
Everyone has to be the first one to do this or that, get the best gear, the newest armor skin, the prettiest looking exotic weapon. Nobody gives a kitten about the journey to get there. And then you complain?
Maybe it’s me, but this new generation of gamers have serious issues or ADHD.
Take your time, do it slowly. You will enjoy it more. (heh..there’s a sexual reference in there somewhere..)
Laurels.
i dont know if people have changed, but the game have changed.
im on jade quarry, and right now some maps are super crowded because of “living story” or “world boss”.
its a joke, people camping, waiting for invaders, then facerolling them in 30 seconds to grind their achievemet points….the open world multiplayer gameplay is simply badly designed for endgame toons.
or if that really what they want… im personnaly disapointed by the CAMP/ZERG feel to the persistant world.
This is how I feel. There is definitely a difference in the whole feel of the game right now not in a positive way.
I got a level 42 item out of that chest when I was only 21 yesterday.
Calendar would be great. I don’t know if we need the larger groups since the way the game is designed and some guild are around 400 people, no group size is going to accommodate that.
Come to TC, enjoy your 1-5 fps and crashes during dragon events because of all the other guesters.
The dragon events are becoming almost unplayable for me because of the lag and crashes I get due to all the people, plus the extreme culling problems. I don’t want to have to guest on another server, this is my home. It feels like a bunch of entitled strangers are tromping in, breaking my furniture, eating all my food, then flipping me off on the way out.
Speaking of which, I’ve definitely noticed a huge influx of map chat trolls lately.
If you’re friendly and considerate, I really don’t care. But we definitely have a slew of guesters who don’t give a kitten about the native population, and certainly some who are just plain unpleasant, selfish, and downright hateful. Go home, please. Why would you guest on a server where the lag is so bad you can hardly get anything done, and you clearly hate the people there? I don’t get it.
Trolling. Some people live for it. Guesting is the dumbest thing I have seen in a long time. Anet just seems to knee jerk with the way stuff is done. As if there is no thought put into it, they just quickly implement something and hope it sticks.
I decided today I wasn’t going to do this part of the story. It just feels so lackluster. I got the items fairly quickly but then there is the portals with the flame mobs spawning in. People sitting there waiting for the mobs to spawn again and again to finish the 100% kill completion part then wait another month for the next part.
It just felt so blah and uninspiring I walked away and went back to just doing my own thing.
It was incredibly frustrating to get bumped out of two Jormag spawns today because of overflow. I have no issue with guesting but either home server people should get priority or they need to have the events occur in the overflow as well. Hopefully I’ll get in on the next Claw spawn but who knows.
OP was infracted for his/her post? So, we really can’t have fun?
WTF. Anet seriously?
- Grawl headdresses have been made 45% bigger and all Grawl not wearing headdresses have been given mullets and wallet chains.
- That one way that you figured out how to make a little gold… yeah, we changed that.
These two killed me, sadly the second one seems eerily true!
Yes. It was stated in the patch notes. Sorry I don’t have link.
I’d turn myself into a dragon and walk around giving people blue items.
Man I would love a greater zoom out option.
Even in GW2 where content is called “dynamic”, it actually isn’t. I can’t go to Queensdale and farm mobs for Heavy Moldy Bags / T6 mats. I still need to go to Orr and Frostgorge.
That brings up another good point. If that type of loot that dropped matched the players level and not the zone, much like weapon and armor drops then that would go a long way to getting people to avoid just farming Orr. Of course it would have to be a lower drop rate or we’d be slaughtering level one areas causing mass genocide.
Maybe in WvW but not in PvE. I see more necros than I can shake a stick at.
Besides, in any kind of PvP situation there are always going to be the one build, the one class the one method everyone thinks is the best, no matter how balanced. That is what you will see the most of and that will never change.
Balance is an illusion and an unachievable goal. So either you play what you enjoy or you follow the pack and go for “the best” race/class/build.
I think if they did one thing it would solve some issues, or perhaps it would open a whole new set of them.
I think they should scale people up as well as down for zones. So if a level one went to a level 80 zone they would be level 80, but the caveat being they are in level 1 gear. So while they wouldn’t necessarily get eaten they could travel there and explore or hang out with their higher level guildmates or friends and not get completely owned and not draw aggro from 5 miles away.
You’re doing it all wrong. GW2 made it so easy to gear up that once you’ve got that decently done you can go do events in any zone for……wait for it…. FUN! What do I need gold for? I spent a while trying to make a bunch of gold then realized there was nothing I have to spend it on.
I get on, play alts, play my main, do events all over, hit dragons when they are up. Sometimes I’ll start in a starter zone and just run through it and through next zone to the next zone killing things, gathering, hitting any DE I come across, helping people with Skill Point challenges etc.
Everyone is still looking for the carrot, the end all be all gear and to be the best. I get that to a point, but then I remember that this isn’t what GW2 is about and I just have fun. Plain old fun.
It’s fine. I’d like to see more exotic items drop but other than that I don’t see any point in making it easier to get gold. The easier it gets for the average player, the more things are going to go up in general. WP costs annoy the hell out of me though.
Play on Tarnished coast, there are people everywhere. I’m serious. It’s the place to be.
That’s . . . an interesting problem.
I’d say the moral isn’t “don’t fiddle with stuff” it’s “double check your work”. The Bank/Bag tab problem, some other things that don’t ask for confirmation, in general the moral of all these problems hitting people is: pay closer attention to what you’re doing.
It’s your own doing, your own fault, and while I take my hat off in sympathy . . . the lesson is not that things are badly designed (and even if you can successfully make the case they are) it is more that you should ‘measure twice, cut once’ as the old adage goes. Double check before you do something you might not be able to undo.
Come on I have to press an OK box to break down a green item and there is no confirmation box for changing guild leadership?
I think I must be the only person that shakes his head in sadness whenever I see yet another one of these.
Fun stuff to be part of
I am sure you are right on that. I don’t find any amusement in watching it though Maybe I’m just getting old and grumpy. Stay off my lawn!
I think I must be the only person that shakes his head in sadness whenever I see yet another one of these.
I was thinking of making Destinies Edge, and I’m working on Logan Runaway. Thing is, is it even possible to make your character look like Logan, Rytlock, etc.?
Logan is easy, all anyone ever sees is the back of his head as he is running away.
Having to log off and being able to log right back in is hardly a hardship on any of us. They provide quick minor restarts like this in lieu of having longer periods of downtime where I am sure others would be equally as irritated. Also just because you think this is a useless update does not mean you speak for everyone, and while I appreciate your opinion it is not one I share.
They can’t please everyone and this seems to be a fairly unobtrusive way to keep the game updated and running smoothly.
Personally i just don’t see the point of leveling a char if your just gonna be downgraded if you go into a low level area may as well just stay away from them and hang around in Southsun or Cursed shore. Why spend the money on gear and the time on leveling if you gain no advantage from it. and tbh apart from world completion there’s no point going back to starter areas once done.
Replay value is shockingly non existent. Only replay value are dungeons and wvw, in pve there’s nothing.
Just because it is something you do not do does not make it truth for all. All the starting areas, especially Human and Norn are teeming with all ranges of players. If you think you have no advantage as a high level player leveled down I would suggest you take another try at some of those lower level zones and tell me whether you stomp those enemies or not.
I love my necro alt and I love necros in my groups with my warrior. Sorry I can’t agree with you.
Could use something more to spend skill points on, would make all those extra dings past 80 worth something. Not talking about mystic forge or crafting related spending, stuff that makes your character more diverse like picking abilites from another class (at much higher cost and have longer cooldown or something) or advanced class… something along that line. Titles perhaps. Fluff or horizontal growth stuff.
That would be great. Trading them for coin would be nice as well.
Not a single one since I started in December and I play for at least 5 hours week nights and about 12/day on weekends. About 10 rares in that time. RNG must hate me.
I see people say this, but I have never experienced it. I have gotten credit for every veteran I have killed doing this daily.
Yeah the end of the event is odd. Since the last beta I thought there should be something in that hut with the throne like chair, but alas, nothing has appeared in there since launch.
It also seems odd that it’s not even decorated inside…
Look at the thing that hangs out in there, he trashed the place and ate the furniture!
